Jenny shivered violently as the German forced her to march all the way to a road several miles from the woods. The rain hadn't let up and as night approached the temperatures dropped to nasty levels. The man, who introduced himself as the "Most-Awesome-and Pissed-at- you Gilbert" kept muttering swear words and glaring at her every so often as he gave directions. The dogs barked playfully at her heels while bounding around in the rain. Jenny could only hope that Amelia was doing better than she was.

Amelia followed the train tracks all the way to the next station, avoiding all human contact and movement. At the squeaky clean stations bathroom she changed into dry clothes, stuffing the wet ones in a trash bin, except for her beloved coat, and pulling out a bottle of bright blue hair dye and brown eye contacts.

"One day Jenny's going to have to explain how she managed to get a hold of this," she muttered while setting to work, "If I manage to get out of this."

Turkey gave a grim smile at the pile of papers he had forged that evening. A birth certificate, a passport, a marriage registration and Psychiatric reports for one "Sandra Amelia Jones Adnan"

"And now," he muttered to himself, "the end game approaches.

Germany looked up as the front door slammed open to reveal his three dogs, his brother and an unknown girl soaked to the bone.

"Gilbert? Did you find Amelia," He watched as Prussia dragged the girl across the room grabbing a chair as he went. With a huff he shoved the chair between a conjunction of the wall and pushed her in.

"Stay there unawesome brat," he ordered, shaking his hair out.

"Are you putting me in time out?" Her voice was loud and incredulous, "You can't do that!"

"Watch me," He snapped while turning to his brother and speaking in German began explaining the chase. "So yeah, the most unawesome Amelia broke off from her friend so they could confuse me. I thought they would trade jackets and keep running but they just ducked behind a tree and split off in opposite directions. Not only that they emptied an entire bottle of spice on the ground so the dogs got all messed up to. So now Amelia is gone and we're going to have to work even harder at finding her."

"The dogs noses got messed up?"Germany asked sharply glaring at the huffing American in the corner kicking her feet idly.

"Yeah, they put some spice down." Gilbert shrugged off his soaked coat, "What do we do about this kid?"

"We'll have to keep her until she can be gotten rid of, does she know?"

"I don't think so, but I'm tired." Germany nodded and turned toward the girls back.

"What is your name?" He asked, tapping her shoulder.

"I don't got to tell you," she huffed in anger, hunching her shoulders up and sending a glare his way, "Ya'll are just of bunch o'creepers tryin' to get a hold of 'Melia so ya ain't getn' nothing outa me." A thick southern accent became more pronounced as she spoke, wringing out her hair. Germany twitched at the horrible grammar.

"Amelia has stumbled upon a dangerous secret that if revealed to the public could destroy the world's economy, we are trying to keep her from spreading that secret." She stood up and crossed her arms, glaring boldly at the much bigger man.

"Like the secret of her Pa?"

"Like the secret of her what?" Germany started, confusion etched on his features.

"I must say Amelia, I don't much care for the pink and blue hair," Norway clucked at her, disapproving as a mother hen, "It makes you look like a wild child that no one can trust."

"A girls got to do what a girls got to do, the customs official gave me a weird look but other than that I'm in the country."

"Excellent," Norway nodded, an approving gleam in his eye, "I need you to make it to Tivoli Gardens by three o'clock, Papa will be on his afternoon walk by then and you should be able to find him easily. He's the mopey blond in red and black."

"I got it," Amelia shivered with excitement, "I can't wait, this is going to be amazing."

"Just don't let any other nations with less than pure intentions get in the way, understood?"

"Yes Mama," Amelia rolled her eyes, "can you tell me what happened to Jenny?"

"No, I've got no direct line communication with the German nations," Norway gave a slight wave, "The train will be pulling into the station any minute now and you need to make sure there are no other nations waiting to ambush you. I hope to see you soon."

Amelia woke up with a start, cobalt eyes snapped open to the bright Danish morning, a few memories, unaided by Mama had filtered back into her mind. It was very strange remembering what happened when she was small but still 16 years old.

The walk through customs and the train station wasn't very exciting, no nation popped out to grab her and whisk her away. In fact she was so cheerful she didn't even notice a certain masked nation slipping in and out of crowds following her as she moved toward the destination.

Jenny didn't get much sleep, when she finally went to bed it was far past her bedtime and when she woke up the sun wasn't even there to greet her.

"I don't care if you're tired, you're going to be training with me today whether you like it or not," Ludwig thundered at her blankets. "Now UP!" He yanked the blanket off the teenagers who immediately curled up in a ball.

"Go away," she groaned a hand wandering in search of her precious covers, now on the floor, "I'm sleepy."

Jenny didn't get much of a chance to protest as Ludwig grabbed the edge of the mattress, tilting it up and rolling her onto the floor.

"UP," he bellowed blowing his whistle in her ear, "You will run a mile before breakfast!" In a stumbling haze of confusion Jenny made it down the stairs before realizing she didn't have proper pants on.

"LUDWIG!" She yelled and stomped back up the stairs, "Get out of my room!"

Amelia sprinted down the length of the sidewalk, heart pounding as she shoved past dozens of bikers. Excitement bubbled in her stomach as she saw the entrance of the gardens just two blocks in front of her.

Soon she be with Papa and Mama.

Soon she'd be beyond the reach of Russia, Romania and Turkey.

Soon she'd be safe.

Her feet flew with astonishing speed, her mouth stretched in a grin as her backpack bounced all over the place.

Just one more block….

Amelia skidded to a halt when two blue uniformed policemen stepped right in front of her. The older of the men frowned when she nearly slammed into them coming to a halt. They made wide gestures at her and at a picture, Amelia shook her head in confusion. Neither of them spoke a common language. Finally the older of the two held a picture towards her. Amelia's blood froze in her veins at the sight of herself, with blue hair and brown eyes staring back.

"You..are…her?" His English was slow and halting. Amelia could only blink in affirmation at the sight, because it was her. She just wasn't sure how they got that picture.

The younger and tall of the two grabbed a radio and began speaking rapidly. Amelia eased over to the side to see the entrance of the park so close. Catching her movements the older one moved to the side to mirror hers, making sure he would be able to stop her if necessary.

Turkey found a policeman who could speak excellent English almost as soon as he reached the police station early in the morning. With him he found a sympathetic ear. Turkey had sat down with the man to show him all of the papers and explain the entire situation.

"As you see, I married Amelia's mother only about five weeks ago," Turkey cast his eyes down with fake sadness, "But unfortunately Amelia still has a fixation on her father who abandoned them when she was ten years old so while we were on vacation here she ran away to try and find him, even though he covered his tracks very well. She dyed her hair blue and pink just so she could try and ruin the wedding though," here Turkey produced several masterfully photoshoped images of the nation standing next a beautiful woman and a teenager sulked in the background. "We've tried everything to help, even going to a physiatrist but the doctor only had bad reports to make."

"Do you mind if I see them?" The policeman asked, Turkey shook his head and handed over several wrinkled papers. After a moment of reading the man's mustache bristled, "Did she really cause a scene like that, claiming you were some man trying to kidnap her?"

"Yes," Turkey's face went a bit red, "It got very awkward when the police showed up, so this time I've gone straight to you."

"Where did you say you met her mother?"

"Lilly is an American soldier, she was stationed in Germany when we met, we got married six months later."

"Beautiful," the round man took the image of Amelia and immediately sent it off to be distributed to the police forces, "We'll start looking for her right away so when the call comes in we'll just go get her."

"Thank you very much sir," Turkey said earnestly, "this means so much. We've been trying to help her but I just know how."

"Not to worry Mr. Adnan, we'll find your stepdaughter a fast a possible."

"No, she's my daughter, calling her step daughter just alienates me further."

"Of course, very wise move."

Three hours later the call came through while Turkey was having an avid and platonic discussion with the receptionist.

"Mr. Adnan, we've located your daughter, she's at the entrance of Tivoli Gardens. Would you like to have her brought in or would you like to go get her?" Turkey shot to his feet, immediately all female eyes clapped on his handsome form.

"I'll go get her; she might get nervous around all of those unknown police officers."

Amelia couldn't not have been more frustrated with the two men, neither one would let her move more than a few inches to the left or the right. She could feel the three o'clock hour slipping away, Denmark would not be in the park much longer and if she didn't escape these policemen she'd never be able to get to him. Just as an escape plan was forming in her mind the sound of a car door slamming and people running caught her attention.

"AMELIA!" Before she could blink she was yanked into someone's strong arms and given a bear hug, "I've finally found you!"

Her heart stopped for the second time that day when she heard Turkey's familiar voice above her. "Amelia, your mother and I were so worried about you." He pulled away and glared sternly at her, "You need to stop running away."

"What the hell?" She hissed, glaring at the policemen as Turkey squashed her to his chest again with a hug.

"Language Amelia, how many times do your mother and I have to tell you to watch your language?"

Amelia jerked away as if scaled when the words he spoke finally sank in, "you're not my father!"

His smile dropped, "Of course I am; your mother and I got married. Why do you keep denying me?"

"Because you're not my father," she yelped pulling a good two feet away, "What the hell do you think you're doing?"

"Collecting an errant and completely disobedient child," a muscular man with a walrus like mustache stepping into view, a disapproving frown on his face, "and if you ask me Mr. Adnan, a little old fashioned corporal punishment never goes awry in these types of situations."

"That a great idea," a solid grip latched onto her shoulder, "But I really must be getting back to the hotel, Lilly is worried sick."

"Of course, would you like to take a car?"

"Of thank you," Turkey steered a listless and stunned American toward the car while chatting amicably away with the shorter man, "Thank you so much, I don't know how I can ever repay you."

"Just think on what I said, maybe give it a go," the mustached man said before slamming the door and barking few instructions to the driver, "and good luck in your future."

A single tear ran down her cheek as the car pulled away and Denmark exited the gardens looking downcast and miserable. Amelia felt her entire world go dark as she spiraled into the depth of despair.
