Chapter three
Snow was crisp across the manor grounds as Morica stood on the roof above the library and watched the weak sun rise from where she stood. She had ditched her maids dress for something that only her essence to make itself. The green cloth hugged her body as it puffed out at her waist as it covered her stomach and her legs before black leather boots appeared in the slit that spread out both ways. Above her stomach was a brown leather belt that hold a small knife that had her name craved in Demon as well as her ax on her back that wasn't a demon weapon but came from her heritage. The reason she was on the roof was because of the death she could feel sweeping from the city, infecting her as she tried to fight the calling to do her old duty before the sound of light footsteps reached her ears. Raising her left hand she moved it down barley touching her as her maid's dress appeared in its place as Sebastian appeared.
Sebastian frowned mentally as he observed his wife as he stood by her.
"What are you doing out here?" he questioned as he followed her line of sight.
"Just looking at the view at memories," was her reply as she watched the far horizon where the forest meet the farm lands. "Do you remember when this land was invaded by the Romans?"
"That was nearly two thousand years ago," he replied. "Just a thousand years after we got married."
Morica nodded, smiling slightly before a howl echoed across the manor. Rolling her eyes, she felt amusement at Sebastian's reaction as he gave a sigh before he took her hand and they both jumped off the roof. Walking towards Pluto who ran towards them in human form.
"Now , now what is all the fuss?" Sebastian asked, looking annoyed.
Morica leaned into his side as she followed the direction Pluto had come from and stiffened at the Queen's messenger once again on the Manor grounds. Sebastian noticed but didn't say nothing as Morica walked away, heading back to the manor. Approaching Ash, another figure approached Morica the moment she was out of range of Sebastian and his senses.
"That must have been awkward," Undertaker said as he sat in the trees with Morica.
"If only you knew," the woman replied. "What brings you here?"
"There has been death in the city," Undertaker replied.
And I care how exactly?" Morica questioned, sniffing the air around her.
"You have a way of predicating things before they happen my dear," Undertaker replied. "Just this one job and you can have your demon ways."
Giving a smirk, Morica looked out towards the manor as she watched the servants rush around doing their jobs, watching as Sebastian attended to the Master. Undertaker followed her graze as they landed on the demon that had been the subject of their conversations for a while.
"If he finds out it could destroy us," Morica said, looking down at the two rings of her ring finger as well as the bump she had. "You promise this will be the last job I have to do for them."
"Yes," Undertaker replied. "Now hurry, hurry. Quick, quick make your descison my dear."
Morica gave a sigh, twisting her two gold bands in thought, before she looked at the Undertaker. "When do we start?"
Sebastian wasn't rarely puzzled. The human cultures were just like different stories which he had been around when some of them had been created. Their strange appearances and their selfish ways. However when it came to his wife he was always puzzled. She came in with an air of loyalty and that grace that had made him fall in love with her. However there where the days were she was withdrawn and would ignore him to the point where she would disappear on days on end. That was what had happened and he gave an inward sigh as he followed his master around the Frost Fair. The fair was in full swing as he walked. Bits and pieces of conversations from the humans reached his ears as well as her voice. Pausing in mid step, he tried to locate the voice before Ciel pulled his attention once again.
Morica watched her husband and master from above the fair on the bridge. On the bridge were three human males that were talking about the diamond Undertaker had asked her to find and bring to him. Listening she felt disgust at the mere humans she had been trailing for the past five days.
"Found his body this morning," the man in middle said. "The ring wasn't found on his body."
Morica frowned as the men walked away. Looking at the frozen Thames, she gave a sigh as she would have to trail her husband to find the Hope Diamond before she could return to his side without her past coming back. As she walked down towards the Fair she caught the sight of a pink bonnet with blonde curls coming out on either side of the holes on it. Giving a smile, she followed after the young Lady Elizabeth.
Lady Elizabeth roamed across the stalls of the Fair looking for the perfect birthday present for Ciel. In the distance she caught a woman walking past her. Morica watched the young girl giving her a warm smile as she walked past. Turning back round, Elizabeth frowned wondering where she had seen her before. Pamala was confused as she watched her mistress but didn't say nothing as she followed the retreating green dressed woman that had passed them.
Morica watched her husband and their master as she trailed them. She knew that they would have a clear idea on the Hope Diamond then she would. She could feel Undertaker's own eyes on her. Looking towards a stall she noticed him as he walked past to go to the parlor he had set up due to the murder. Morica gave him a nod before she disappeared down the back of a market stall as the sound of music reached her eyes. Focusing her eyes on the ginger haired man she frowned as he turned the handle of the music box he carried. She watched as Lady Elizabeth walked past him, talking to Pamala. Her eyes widened in shock as his head did an one-eighty degree turn to look at the young noble child. As if he could feel her eyes on him, he turned his head to look at her and stared.
Morica took a step back, at an unease feeling before a hand clamped itself around her mouth and something hit the back of her head hard enough to make the demon black out completely.
Drip. Drip. Drip. Morica's head rolled back before her indigo eyes opened, blinking in the darkness around her. Her hands where shackled to the wall as well as her feet making her body go into a star like shape. Her green dress was ripped and torn with her stomach being exposed. Panic rose into her throat as she used all of her power to protect her children as well as try to calm down her nerves. Her senses could sense the presence of another person. Turning her head, she narrowed her eyes in anger as Angela left the shadows.
"Nice to see you again," Angela said smirking from ear to ear.
Morica narrowed her eyes and gritted her teeth in anger. Angela smirked as she walked in a semi-circle around the demon.
"You know Morica I'm surprised he hasn't figured it out yet," Angela said. "I mean he is supposed to know everything about you and yet he has no idea what he has married."
Morica looked down to the stone floor, trying to block out the angel.
"Like your any better," Morica growled. "Breaking an innocent boys heart by sewing his parents together into something nonhuman and against nature."
Angela raised her hand and slapped the woman across her face. Morica gave a gasp as her head hit the wall and rubble embedded itself into her skin. Angela watched her, smirking in satisfaction.
"Master the next doll is ready," a monotone voice said.
In the doorway stood the man that had been playing the music box. Morica looked at him in surprise before she realized she couldn't sense his life presence. Frowning in confusion, she bit back a yell as Angela embedded two blades into her arms before she turned and walked away. Morica looked down at her feet wondering who would find her first; Undertaker or Sebastian.
Not many things could make Undertaker worried. Human bodies, piece of cake. The demons piece of cake. Grim reapers, oh please he was the original. However when it came to his daughter he was sick to his very core. He had made some excuse to the young Ciel Phantomhive about the diamond being gone so he could be rid of the young lord and search for his daughter. The door behind him opened and he looked to the younger man dressed in a suit and a pair of glasses.
"William Spears," Undertaker said. "The last time I saw you was when Morica fell for that demon."
William didn't answer as he approached the older Grim reaper.
"Where's Morica?" he asked.
"I don't know," Undertaker replied. "I can't feel her presence and I can no matter where she is. This is like when she went to that ball and came back with him."
William didn't answer as he stood in thought. Undertaker observed the younger Grim Reaper that had been his daughter's partner.
"She is just like any other Grim reaper," William finally said. "But why is that when she disappears I get a sick feeling in my gut?"
"She was your partner and is still your friend," was Undertaker's reply as he tried to locate his daughter's presence. "If you do find her, be careful Sebastian doesn't see you; especially after Grell."
William gave a nod, before he felt the summoning of the reapers from the Library.
"Good day," was his parting words, before he disappeared.
Undertaker waited a couple of minutes before he felt the slight pinch of his daughter. Grabbing an ax, he walked out of the building and headed out to find his daughter.
