At the moment, DesiredHOA01 (who prompted this) is at camp, but it'll be waiting for her when she gets back! Sorry it took so long, babe!
Enjoy!
Eddie poked his head into the drama room and smirked. His girlfriend sat in one of the chairs, and the room was empty. He was going to surprise her, which would probably make her mad at him, which he'd end up getting a kiss afterwards. He was about to sneak into the room when her phone rang, playing the familiar tune of Tracy Chapman's Fast Car. He stopped and waited for her to answer or ignore the call.
She pulled her cell out of her bag and looked at the caller id before rolling her eyes and putting it down. She ignored the caller and before she put the phone down, she played the ringtone again, leaning back in the chair.
"You got a fast car; I want a ticket to anywhere. Maybe we can make a deal. Maybe together we can get somewhere. Any place is better; starting from zero, got nothing to lose. Maybe we'll make something, but me, myself, I got nothing to prove…."
Eddie ditched his idea of scaring her and applauded instead, but she still jumped out of her skin and turned to glare at him. He must have scared her anyway. Oops.
"Wow, Yacker, I had no idea you could sing." He said, advancing toward her.
"What are you talking about, Slimeball?" she snapped, choosing to act as if she hadn't just been singing. "Anyone can sing."
"But not anyone can sing as well as you can." He told her.
"A lot of people can sing better than me."
"So you admit that you were singing."
"Fine, I admit that I was singing, but don't tell anyone alright?"
"You got it."
"I'm serious, Sweet; I don't want anyone going gaga over the knowledge that I can sing a few bars and not sound like a complete idiot."
"Your secret is safe with me."
"Did you guys know Patricia can sing?" he asked the group as they lounged around in the Anubis House common room.
"Anyone can sing, Eddie." Alfie pointed out. "Even me—SEE!" he sang in a high pitched opera voice.
"Yeah, I get that," Eddie nodded slowly as the others laughed at him. "But I mean; did you guys know she can sing? And sound good? She's pretty amazing."
"I knew that," Joy spoke up, looking away from her fashion magazine. "She sang in the fall play during grade 7."
"Oh yeah," Jerome acknowledged and then laughed.
"Why are you laughing? She did great." Joy defended her best friend.
"No, do you remember Jeremiah; the freak kid with the buzz cut that always talked to himself? He was the prince in that play."
"Oh yea, he was a weird kid and he was horrible at acting. What ever happened to him?"
"He got arrested last year and he'll be doing time for like, nine more years, or something." He replied with a shrug.
"Rufus—a psychopath bent on living forever; Robert—a man that spent almost a hundred years in a tank; and Jeremiah—a criminal with a buzz cut. We meet some interesting people don't we?" Fabian chuckled.
Eddie rolled his eyes. As Patricia walked into the room, brushing past him, he grabbed her arm and held her to his side. "See, watch—Yacker, sing Fast Car."
"Why?" she said slowly.
"So everyone can hear you voice; you have an amazing voice." He complimented. "She has an amazing voice." he said to his friends and then turned back to his girlfriend. "Come on, Patricia, sing it! I want everyone to hear you."
"Eddie, stop it, you're embarrassing me." she whispered.
Eddie's grip on her arm loosened and she backed out of the room, leaving through the front door, where she had just come from.
Eddie turned and sighed. Without another thought, he followed, though hesitant. He sat down next to her on the steps, but didn't say a word.
"You said you'd keep your mouth shut." She stated.
"I'm sorry—"
"Why? Why did you do it?"
"Because…I guess I was just a little proud that my girlfriend is so talented." He shrugged with a small smirk playing on his lips.
Patricia arched an eyebrow at him and then rolled her green eyes. "Okay, look, singing isn't my thing, even though I can sing. It's not something that I want to do. Piper is the one with the musical talent, and I'm going to leave that to her."
"Then what are you going to do?"
"I don't know, but nothing musical; that is for Piper. I'll figure something out, just not yet. I'm gonna live a little first."
"Sorry I embarrassed you, Yacker."
"Sorry for hitting you, Weasel Face." She replied.
"You didn't—ow."
"I said I was sorry."
I liked the way it ended. I'm sure this isn't exactly what you wanted, but I needed to get that out of the way and that's the best I could come up with.
