So...I didn't technically get any prompts (y'all just requested certain couples, and as I have explained countless times, I can't write without an idea), so I wrote this. :) Enjoy some Jabian!
"Rutter, would you calm down? Pacing is not going to help you find something for Joyless any faster." Jerome groaned, leaning back in the armchair.
"Yeah, man, you'll find something. She's your best friend." Eddie reminded.
"You probably know her better than the back of your own hand." Alfie piped in.
"But all of you already got Valentine's Day gifts!" Fabian protested and ran his fingers through his hair in frustration.
"True and it's probably the best present I've ever gotten Jaffray." Jerome smirked victoriously.
"Dude, Patricia and I don't even celebrate. It's stupid." Eddie shrugged.
"Amber gave me a list of things she wanted for Valentine's Day." Alfie said.
"I should know what to get her! But when I bought her presents a month ago, I was buying them for her as a friend, not a boyfriend. I have no idea what she would want for Valentine's Day from a boyfriend! I don't want to buy for her as a friend; it could ruin our entire relationship!"
"Well, it wouldn't be the first time you lost a relationship because you couldn't be a boyfriend." Jerome snickered.
Eddie punched his arm and sat up straight. "What does she like?"
"Well, you know there's the cliché that you could give her; flowers, chocolates, promises you don't intend to keep," Jerome listed.
"I don't think I gave you your present yet, Jerry," Eddie snapped, holding up his fist.
"What is that; an American knuckle sandwich? No thanks, I prefer my uncles." He waved him off and went back to fingering the wrapped box that sat in his lap.
"So, tell me again, why you waited until Valentine's Day to get your girlfriend a Valentine's Day present?" Eddie questioned, eyebrows furrowing.
"Because I've been busy with school and trying to think of a present." He explained.
"Well, the girls should be back in thirty minutes or so," Jerome stated, standing up and straightening his red and black ascot. "If we leave now, we can get to the mall as they're driving back to the school. I suggest you go and try to find something that sparks her interest."
"You just wanna look for another present to try and prove your better than us, aren't you?" Eddie scoffed, raising his eyebrows.
"You got it, mate." He grinned, pulling on a waistcoat.
Fabian nodded and they put on their coats as Jerome called for a cab. As they rode in the taxi into town, Fabian continued to fret. When they arrived at the shopping center, Eddie pointed out several things but Fabian denied it all. Either nothing was right, or she already owned it.
"Hey, what about this place," Eddie pointed to a store they were walking past.
"Are you kidding me? I'm not going into that place!" Jerome protested.
"Jerry, come on, it's just a store; no need to be intimidated." Eddie smirked.
"I'm not intimidated; I'm just not going into such a girly store."
"No, I don't think Joy would like anything in there." Fabian shook his head.
"But she's girly and stuff," Eddie said, waving his arms around.
"Dude, even I know she's not that girly. That's Amber level of girly." Alfie stepped in.
Eddie shrugged in defeat and they continued on their way. Eventually, Alfie had run off to play with action figures and Jerome had discreetly slipped away to browse presents suitable for Mara.
"I'm beginning to think I'll never find something," Fabian let his shoulders slouch sadly, "That or I don't know Joy as well as I thought I did."
"Don't worry, Fabian, you'll find something." His roommate reassured him, patting him on the back.
"No, I won't. Our date's in a half an hour."
"Hey, Fabes," Joy smile, watching him sit at the table across from her.
"Hey, Joy," he looked down sheepishly.
"Are you okay?" she asked, tilting her head, trying to meet his eyes.
"I guess I could be better." He answered truthfully.
"What's wrong?"
Shyly, he looked up at her. "Did you get me a present?"
"Of course," her smile brightened as she tapped a small box next to her drink on the table.
"That makes me feel even worse," he muttered, hanging his head guiltily.
"Fabes…" she started.
"Okay, can I explain?" he asked.
"Go ahead," she encouraged with a small shrug.
He nodded and launched into the story, explaining why he had never found something for her. He told her how he couldn't find the perfect gift and when he finished, she smiled, reaching for his hand.
"I don't think anyone has ever gone through so much trouble for me before. You're so sweet, Fabes."
He smiled, his cheeks tinting a light pink.
"Here, open your present." She said, handing him the box wrapped in blue paper.
He reluctantly took the gift from her and pulled the wrapping paper away from it. He smiled, pulling the blue watch out. "I've needed a new one."
"It's a calculator watch," she pointed out.
"That makes it even better!"
Joy giggled and helped him put it on. When it was secured around his wrist, he gripped her hand and lifted her fingers to his lips.
Review? Prompt?
"I'm running through the fields, hoping someone will save me... (save me, save me) I'm tryin' to get a deal with the devil I know... (the devil...)"
Alex Sawyer anyone? ;) He is literally the only rapper I'll listen to.
