The group entered the Great Hall, many students were already there, sitting and chatting with their friends. They saw that Arthur, Uther, Percival, and Gwaine were already sitting at the head table and went to join them. "Where is Balinor?" Gwen asked.
"I believe he was heading to the library." Gwaine said.
"The library?" Arthur asked
"Yes, to see what kind of books on magic he could find." Gwaine answered.
"Strange, since when does Balnior read?" Arthur smirked.
"I'll have you know Arthur, that I do a lot of reading." A cheeky voice said.
The group looked up and saw Merlin standing in front of them with Percival.
"Sure you do Balinor." Arthur responded.
Merlin and Percival took their seats, "So, how were your classes?" Merlin asked
Uther immediately glared at Gwaine, who smiled. Seeing this, Gwen looked warily at the knight, "What did you do?"
"Me?" Gwaine asked innocently. "I didn't do anything, Uther just got on the wrong side of a Pegasus. It's not my fault he decided to insult it."
"Father" Arthur looked disappointed, "We are here to learn, not cause trouble."
"I will never trust magic Arthur, and I can't believe that you believe in all of this. You have been enchanted and once we are home, that servant of yours is going to be executed." Uther spat.
Arthur scooted protectively in front of Merlin, as did everyone else. "You will do nothing of the sort. Not as long as I'm alive." Arthur stated.
"This is not a conversation to be having at the table gentlemen. Please, at least wait until lunch is over." A voice said. They looked to see Remus looking at them.
Uther growled while Arthur bowed his head in apology.
Remus sat down and set an envelope in front of Percival. The knight picked up the envelope and examined it; he turned towards the professor, "What is this?"
Remus said nothing, but his eyes sparkled with amusement. A rustle of paper was heard and the group turned to the envelope. A shudder ran through the paper and it started to unfold itself. The group was frozen in shock as they watched the envelope twist and fold itself until Percival was holding a thin stem with four blooms. The blooms were bell-shaped flowers colored white and purple. "It's beautiful" Gwen whispered in awe.
"Why did you give this to me?" Percival looked at Remus.
The professor chuckled, "I was on my way here when one of my students stopped me and asked that I give you the envelope."
"Who?" Percival asked.
Remus didn't answer, merely nodded in the direction of a young girl talking with her friends. Percival recognized her as Isabelle, the girl he rescued in flying class. "Aww, Percy's got an admirer." Gwaine cooed.
"Honestly Gwaine, don't be inappropriate." Gwen scolded.
"If anything, it's more of an expression than a confession." Gaius said, but elaborated when he got confused looks. "Those are bellflowers; they mean 'thank you' or 'gratitude'."
"Well, he did save her life, so it's understandable." Arthur agreed.
"Of course, Percy is always there to save a damsel in distress. Not leaving her side until she is 100% perfect." Gwaine chuckled.
"I do not" Percival denied
"You kind of do mate" Elyan patted the knight's shoulder.
"I think that was sweet of her, it was a nice thank you." Gwen smiled.
"Yes, Isabelle is known for showing thanks like this. She excels in Herbology and most likely got her older sister to help with the charm work." Remus said.
Lunch continued with idle chatter, talking about classes and questions the group had about the school. When everyone was done, Remus left towards his class while the others went to his room. When they got there, they were surprised to find a raven haired man, a red haired man, and a brown haired woman standing in the middle of the room. The trio turned around quickly and pointed their wands at the group. "Who are you? What are you doing in here?" one of the men asked.
"I think we should be asking you the same question" Arthur scowled. "These are private rooms and you have no business being here."
The red haired man scoffed, "You are the ones who are trespassing. These rooms belong to a friend of ours. We are waiting for him to get back."
"You know Remus?" Gwen asked.
"Yes; and how do you know him?" The woman asked.
"We are administrators from Wales; Remus is allowing us to stay here with him and his family." Lancelot explained.
"Administrators? Hogwarts doesn't get administrators." The woman said.
"Well they do now. So you can put your sticks away, highly disrespectful." Gwaine huffed. His friends chuckled a little.
The trio slowly lowered their wands, "They aren't sticks, their wands obviously." The red head scowled.
"Sticks, wands, whatever, you were still being rude." Gwaine replied.
Before the red head could reply, Gaius interrupted, "Why don't we all sit down and introduce each other. Remus still has classes so he won't be here for a while."
Everyone nodded and sat down in the sitting room. "So, I assume that one of you is Harry, unless you are friends of Tonks." Gaius said.
"Yes" the raven haired boy nodded, "I'm Harry Potter. Remus is my friend. This is Ron Weasley," He pointed to the red haired man, "and Hermione Granger." He pointed to the brunette.
"I'm surprised that you don't recognize us." Ron said. Hermione hit him in the arm.
"I'm sorry, are you famous?" Arthur asked.
The trio gave them a funny look, "Yes, I am the one who killed Voldemort, the dark wizard who terrorized everyone for a long time." Harry answered.
"Ah, yes, of course. My name is Gaius and these are my colleagues Gwen, Arthur, Lance, Uther, Leon, Percival, Gwaine, Balinor, and Elyan." Gaius introduced.
"Pleasure to meet you" Hermione smiled. The group nodded.
"So, why are you here?"
"Two death eaters have escaped and we are looking for them." Ron said.
"I thought that they were all caught." Gwaine said.
"Two escaped and we are here to warn Remus." Harry said.
"Why do you need to warn Remus?" Gwen asked.
"One of the death eaters that escaped was Fenrir Greyback." Hermione said.
"Who is that?"
"The werewolf that bit Remus when he was a child." Hermione explained.
The group gasped, "Do you think he will come after Remus?" Merlin asked.
Harry nodded, "Which is why we are here to warn him."
"Well, Remus still has classes, so I guess we are your only company for a while." Gwaine smiled.
"That's fine with me" Hermione said, getting comfortable.
"Oh, well then" Gwaine got up from his seat and sat between her and Ron. "Might we start this conversation with me complimenting your beauty?" He grasped her hand and kissed it, "I must say, you are truly a vision." He finished with a charming smile.
Hermione blushed and Ron scowled at the knight. He tapped Gwaine's shoulder to get his attention. "Sorry, but she's taken."
Gwaine smiled again, "Alas," He pushed off of the couch, dramatically walking back to his spot. "All of the good women in my life are taken." He finished by leaning his head on Merlin's shoulder. The warlock chuckled and patted the knight on the head.
"Honestly Gwaine, when you do finally settle down, remind me to warn her about your wandering eye." Arthur said.
Gwaine picked himself up, "That's the future, and this is now. I'm not tied down yet, there is still time."
"That's not respectable at all." Hermione huffed.
"It's my lifestyle darling." Gwaine winked, "I've lived like that for years."
"So you don't do that anymore?" Harry asked.
"No, I have a home now." Gwaine replied.
"Disgraceful" Uther muttered, earning a glare from Arthur.
"What's your problem Uther?" Gwaine smirked.
"You are" The king sneered. "I will not stay here a minute longer listening to your ridiculous ramblings." Uther glared at the group before walking off to one of the rooms.
"I can't wait until Arthur takes over." Gwaine whispered to Merlin.
"Harry" Gaius asked, deciding to move the conversation along. "Why don't you tell us a little more about yourself? Remus speaks very highly of you." Gaius said.
"Oh, uh what do you want to know?"
"We've been talking about lineage. I've read that yours is very famous." Merlin said.
Harry blushed, "Well, I guess you can say that."
"He's the heir to the Gryffindor and the Peverell families." (I don't know if he's part of the Gryffindor family, but let's just say that he is.) Ron boasted.
"Gryffindor?" Gwen asked. "Like the Gryffindor house here?"
Hermione nodded, "Yes, he was one of the founders of this school."
"That is quite the lineage." Elyan said.
"Yeah, he's even rumored to be Meriln's heir also." Ron added.
"Why do you say that?" Leon asked.
"He is probably the most powerful wizard right now. Merlin was the most powerful wizard of his time. It makes sense that they are related." Ron said.
Merlin and Gaius shared a look but didn't comment.
"Okay, enough talking about my family. Is there anything else that you would like to know?" Harry rushed.
"Yes, actually." Percival said. "Could you do some wandless magic for us? Remus said that you were very proficient in it. We come from a small wizard community and don't have a lot of opportunities to see such skills."
"Alright, what would you like to see?" Harry asked.
"Anything really"
Harry nodded and raised his hand to the bowl on the coffee table in front of him. "Locomotor" The bowl shook before slowly rising. It floated about a foot off of the table before returning.
"Impressive" Gwen said.
"I guess, but can you do it without any words?" Gwaine asked. Harry nodded and repeated the same thing.
"So wait, what is the difference between this new magic and the old?" Arthur asked.
"What do you mean?" Hermione asked.
Arthur attempted to answer so Gaius quickly interrupted, "He's talking about the magic that existed long ago in Merlin's time and how it differs from today's magic." Gaius explained.
"Old magic, I've never heard of it" Ron said. He looked to Hermione who also shook her head.
"It's the magic of the earth. It takes a powerful sorcerer to fully wield it." Merlin said.
"Well, whatever it is, I'm sure Harry could do it. He is the most powerful wizard in the world." Ron boasted; Harry merely blushed.
"Would you care to test that theory?" Leon raised an eyebrow.
The others looked at him with wide eyes. "What?" Harry asked.
"Balinor here is an expert on old magic, he could give you a spell and we can see if you can do it." Leon explained.
Harry looked to Merlin, "I have no problem trying, how 'bout it?"
Merlin looked a little nervous, but with a slight nod from Gaius, he turned to the raven haired man. Making sure to keep his eyes closed, he took a deep breath and said, "Blótsma." A flower appeared in Merlin's hand.
"Wow, I've never heard that spell before." Hermione whispered.
The group turned to Harry. The raven haired man upturned his palm and repeated the spell, but nothing happened. "Are you sure that's a spell?" Hermione asked.
Merlin frowned, "Of course it is."
"Nothing happened" Ron replied.
"That is because he couldn't perform the spell." Gaius said.
"Then it shouldn't be a spell" Ron huffed. Merlin glared at him.
"Honestly Ronald, there are many spells out there that we can't perform." Hermione scolded. "Don't be rude." Ron apologized meekly.
The group spent the next few hours talking about general things. When Remus came, the trio left to discuss their reason for being there.
Merlin and everyone else went into one of their rooms. Once the door was closed Gwaine turnedto the group, "People think that Harry is Merlin's heir?" He asked incredulously.
"I guess. Though, I'm pretty sure he's not." Gaius said.
"Is it because he couldn't perform the spell?" Percival asked.
Merlin nodded, "But not only that. He didn't have any connection to the Old Religion."
"What do you mean?" Gwen asked.
"Even if you aren't able to perform a spell, the magic will still flow around you. It didn't for Harry. All he has is the new magic." Merlin explained.
"So you're saying that your heir will have that connection?" Lancelot asked.
"I'm pretty sure. I mean, why else would they have that connection?" Merlin responded.
"I wonder who Merlin's heir really is. It seems like it's so important here." Elyan said.
Wow, that was really long. Not to mention, it's been a really long time since I've updated. Sorry guys! This chapter was kind of hard to write…I don't know if it's any good, but here it is ^-^ Review please!
