A Poppy/Jerome drabble was requested by H20xSpelboundfanx countless times, but this drabble is my idea because she hadn't given me one.
Now, I have no idea what this is because when I originally had the idea of the evil twins Max and Rosa, it had been where Andy Biersack was Jerome's best friend and cousin, and they had told the gang about their evil cousins, but I used it for a Poopy/Gerbil thing because I needed an idea, so this didn't turn out as well as it could have. :/
Sorry, it sucks, I know, but I honestly hate writing drabbles now that I've spent so much time on multi-chapters, unless they're oneshots, because I prefer a whole freaking story now.
Jerome dropped his duffle bag on the floor beside the armchair in the Anubis House common room and sat on the arm. Mara looked up at him with a smile and he steadied himself with an arm on the back of the chair as he leaned down to kiss her hair.
"Going somewhere, Jerry?" Eddie asked from across the room.
"I'm leaving a few days early because my family's having a reunion this weekend." He replied, swiping a hand through his hair. "I have to wait for Poppy to get here, though, so we can fly out together."
"You don't have to wait any longer." His little sister spoke up, walking into the room and setting her bag down beside his. "Alright, Gerbil, you want the good news or the bad news?"
Jerome groaned, letting his head fall back in aggravation. "Good news, please."
"Aunt Rhonda is going to be flying out for the reunion!" she said happily.
Jerome didn't smile. "Then what's the bad news?"
"Peter, Diana, Max and Rosa were assigned our house for the weekend." She mumbled.
Jerome swallowed. "Great."
"Yeah, I know."
"Mum knows right?"
She nodded, tightening her ponytail. "She's already started packing up all of our stuff."
"Wait, what's the problem?" Patricia asked.
"Aren't Max and Rosa your cousins?" Alfie piped in.
Jerome took a deep breath and nodded. "They are the devil's spawn."
Fabian chuckled. "That's a bit of an exaggeration, don't you think?"
"No," the Clarkes replied simultaneously.
"What's so bad about them?" Eddie questioned.
"Let me tell you a story." Jerome began. "Max and Rosa are our twin cousins that are a year younger than me, so at the time they were thirteen and I was fourteen, so that made Poppy—"
"Ten," she filled in for him.
"Ten." He licked his thin lips, scratching the back of his neck. "It was over a summer holiday that our Uncle Peter and Aunt Diana had to fly to New York or something for a business conference and Max and Rosa had to stay with us. We cleared out all of our valuable junk from our rooms—"
"I'll explain that one."
"Poopy, wait a second." He hissed, and then continued, "Now I had this dog, a golden retriever, who used to be our grandfather's dog, but when our grandfather passed away, I got to keep him. His name was Hewie and he was almost completely blind, totally deaf, and could barely move without having trouble breathing. Hewie was the sweetest dog ever and he wouldn't hurt a fly. I loved that dog to death.
"Max and Rosa show up and Max had brought his pet hamster with him, which he had named Bob. Bob! That should've been the first sign to me, because who the hell names a hamster Bob? Now, you don't believe me when I say that they're evil? Well, I witnessed Max pouring cleaning liquid into this hamster's water bottle thingy, and that hamster went to town on that thing like it hadn't had anything to drink for days, which I wouldn't be surprised if he hadn't. He croaked within an hour.
"Max calls Rosa into the room and tells her that he's going to bury Bob in the backyard. Now, you'd think that he'd bury him near the woods or something? No. He grabs a shovel and digs up my mother's chrysanthemums. These things were huge – probably prize-winning, my mum was so proud of these things – and he dug them up to bury a hamster he murdered with cleaning fluid. Then, he and Rosa got to work on Hewie. They rubbed dirt on his front paws to make it look like he had been digging in the garden and red food die on his mouth to make it look like he had eaten an animal. My mum walks in just in time for them to freak out over the flowers and the hamster. Now, I explained the flowers to my mum about both things, and she believed me, but Peter and Diana didn't when they were called by Max and Rosa. They had Hewie taken to the pound and he was put down within the hour. And then they tried to sue my mum, but she's a lawyer so that didn't work, but the thing I'm trying to explain his that they're crazy, evil, homicidal dog haters!"
"Dude," Eddie whistled lowly with wide eyes.
Jerome took a deep, calming breath and shook his head. "I hate them so much."
Poppy patted his shoulder comfortingly. "Now let me explain the whole packing up our junk thing: The first time Max and Rosa stayed with us, I was eight and Jerome was twelve. Jerome and I were at our grandparent's house, who live just across the street from ours, so our mum was home to let Max and Rosa in and help them get settled in—"
"We already knew that they were a little odd," Jerome cut in, "And little trouble makers that always found a way to get out of the trouble they make and blame it on anyone or anything else."
Poppy nodded and went on, "But we had no idea how bad they really were. Jerome and I got home that evening and we went up to our rooms and my favorite porcelain doll, one that my grandfather had given me after a trip to China—"
"And my signed Metallica Black Album Vinyl was gone." Jerome rushed out.
"Jerome and I are just freaking out and we run out of rooms, about to go ask our mum where they were, and Max and Rosa are standing at the end of the hallway—"
"You know creepy twins horror movies?" Jerome interrupted again. "They're inspired by Max and Rosa—"
"Gerbil, quit it." Poppy scolded, shoving his shoulder. "Anyway, their posture was innocent but they had the creepiest smiles on their faces and they knew they upset us. And then, completely in synch, they drop two pillow cases onto the floor in front of them. They both made that awful clinking sound glass shards make when they tap against one another. I bawled right then and there."
"My heart stopped." Jerome murmured.
"You're both making this up." Joy scoffed.
Her house mates laughed, chorusing agreements.
"We are not." Poppy denied.
"It's okay, Poppy, I believe you two." Mara assured her with a small smile.
"Just because Jerry's your boyfriend doesn't mean you have to believe everything he says, Mara." Eddie said.
"It's not just because he's my boyfriend, it's also because I've experienced Max and Rosa's…trouble making as well." She replied.
"They tried to kill her."
"They didn't try to kill me, J."
"They hit you over the head with a broom stick and locked you in the cellar of the abandoned Abbot mansion!"
"I shouldn't have been there."
"Honey, don't try and defend them."
"I'm not."
"They knocked you out with a broomstick?" Patricia demanded.
"It fell on me."
"I was there, I saw it happen."
"And then what'd you do?" She snapped.
"They had me tied to a chair, Trixie – like I said, they're homicidal maniacs!"
"Then why don't you get them arrested?" Fabian asked.
"Because we can't prove anything." Poppy replied.
Jerome stood up and bent down to kiss Mara goodbye, picking up his duffle. "Come on, Poops, we're going to miss our plane. We have to be ready."
"We've got to be smarter than them." She said in determination, following him out of the house with a quick wave to Mara.
"They're not even Clarkes; we can outsmart them."
