"Hey, Tahno! How about another round !"
The Swampbender smirked at his companion, nodding his head and taking the tall mug of whiskey that was slid in front of him. Most of his new gang of friends were a bunch of lightweights, and already drunk off their asses. Tahno, though heading in that direction, was still sober enough to know that no one would notice if he didn't actually touch his new drink.
So he let it be, knowing he should probably signal for some water. His friend Lee turned to his own glass and downed it in one gulp before staggering off to go hit on some unfortunate girl. The ex-probender wondered if he would vomit on the girl's shoes again.
The bar wasn't anything more than a little hole in the wall establishment, some place the pale skinned man tended to go when he wanted to let loose. Or when the nightmares got bad again, which thankfully wasn't often anymore. He'd been able to move on with his life since Amon's defeat.
*** The next morning Tahno woke with only a slight drumming in his skull. Good. So he had remembered to drink something other than alcohol last night. He looked over to the other side of the bed, where his alarm clock rested on the nightstand.
He sighed, sinking back in his bed. He had to meet Hasook later today so they could practice for that little party they'd been invited to play at. Then he had to run by the store and get some groceries. Then maybe he'd take Asami up on her offer to hang out.
Thinking of Asami immediately made him think of another girl, one with much darker skin and bluer eyes.
Spirits, he missed Korra.
Pulling himself from the comfort of his bed, Tahno showered and made himself some breakfast. As he ate he distractedly browsed through the newspaper. Nothing really stood out. The triads were causing some trouble, President Raiko was dragging his feet on some sort of legislature, blah blah blah.
Same old, same old, he thought.
He was just washing his plate when someone knocked on his apartment door. He paused, trudging over to the door and opened it only to freeze.
"Hey."
Tahno blinked slowly in disbelief, going from the dark skin to those hypnotically cyan eyes and then to the short chocolate brown hair that framed sharpened features. His hand gripped the door knob, and he felt like he might need to sit back down.
It had been three and a half years since he'd last seen this girl - woman - and all that came out of his mouth was -
"You cut your hair."
Korra's smile transformed into a laugh as she stepped forward and wrapped her arms around the taller man.
"I did," she answered, amusement coloring her voice. Tahno's arms slowly slid around her shoulders as he came to his senses. She was here. She was really here.
Tahno stepped back, and on complete impulse he leaned down and captured her lips in a rough kiss, desperate. Korra returned it almost immediately, her hands tangling into his dark raven locks as he lifted her up, shut the door behind him and pushed the Avatar up against the closed door, her legs wrapped around his slim waist.
It had been three years, but that didn't seem to matter in that moment. But even with how much they had missed each other, air was still a a necessity, and they broke apart, panting and gasping, sneaking a few more pecks.
"I've waited three years..." the shorter of the two admitted, trying to catch her breath. "To do that again."
"Spirits." Tahno buried his face where her shoulder met the slope of her neck, his body still holding her against the door. He kissed her neck, right under her jaw, gently, sweetly. "I've missed you, sweetheart."
He pulled back slowly, allowing her feet to once again touch the ground. His pale eyes met her gaze before observing the new flush of her cheeks and how swollen her lips were. No doubt he looked just as rough, his hair having been twisting in her fists not even two seconds ago.
He kissed her again, all urgency replaced with a new type of calm. His hands settled on her waist again, trailing up and down her side, watching the smile that formed on the brunette's face.
"I smell bacon," she said softly, breaking their moment and walking out of Tahno's arms toward his kitchen/dining room. "I hope you saved some for me, pretty boy."
Tahno watched her go, a small smile playing at the edge of his lips.
There were things they would need to discuss, of course. But right now, they would simply enjoy once again having each other back in their lives.
I think I could consider this an epilogue if I so wanted to. And I sort of do, just so I can say that this is officially done and not have it hanging in the back of my head.
Review all you crazy Tahnorra shippers.
I'm out! Peace!
