Chapter 12
Truth To Be Told

.:Nya:.

"It's okay, I'm here for you."

Jay told her softly and a new wave of tears came pouring and onto Jay's shirt. She felt his arms tighten around her body and he softly and slowly rocked her back and forward on her feet. This helped her to calm down and slowly, he lowered both of them down. She just rested her head on his chest and she felt his shuffle a bit. Now, she was sitting side-ways on his cross-legged legs and he cradled her as if she was a fragile baby. Not that she minded.

"I don't know what to do anymore." She told him softly with a hiccup but he rested a finger against her lips to silence her. She just sighed and tried to snuggle closer to him.

"Don't worry Nya. You'll be able to think of something when the time comes. For now, just let it out." At his kind-hearted words, she began to sob into his chest. She felt one of his hands supporting her head while the other rubbed circles on her back.

How was she supposed to go out there? There's probably a broken-hearted Cole, an angry Lou and a deeply concerned Kai. Then there would be reporters asking why she said no at her wedding and ran away. How was she supposed to tell them that she didn't love Cole but Jay instead? Possible outcomes were in her mind but all of them resulted with Cole bashing something and Lou being angry. Nya wondered why she couldn't just live a normal life without all of this royal stuff and arranged marriages. Then a certain piano song popped up in her head, the one she wrote and played on the day she was crying like this to Jay in the park. That song was written because of a book she loved so dearly and right now, she was living it. The book was about a girl who ran from her wedding because she didn't love her fiancé but a boy her father deeply hated. After what seems like hours, Nya has finally calmed down and she knows what to do. She slowly lifted her head away from Jay's chest. His warm eyes looked down at her and another painful clenching feeling swished in her stomach. She wanted to be with Jay so much but she knows Lou and Kai won't accepted it. Even though Kai said she can love anybody but they have to be of high statue.

"Have you made up your mind?" Jay asked her softly and she nodded. She kissed his lips gently but she pulled back before he got the chance to kiss her back.

"I have to go… Thank you again Jay." She smiled tenderly and he smiled back at her. She got up and she pushed the dresser away from the door and look to Jay. "I can do this alone… You can go home. You have already done so much for me."

"Alright… Just remember I love you okay?" He asked and she nodded. Jay's strong arms wrapped over her waist and he leaned down to kiss her. She closed her eyes and wrapped her arms over his neck and kissed him back but she knew she have to do this now before she changes her mind. She pulled back again.

"I love you too Jay but I have to do this now otherwise I'll change my mind."

"Okay, I understand." Jay unwrapped his arms from her and he left the room. Nya sighed and she waited for a couple minutes before leaving. She opened the door a little bit and checked if the hallway was clear. When it was, she stepped out and she ran to her room barefoot. Once she was inside, she was glad she haven't bumped into someone. She quickly changed out of the mini dress since it was also soaked with her tears. She changed into a more comfortable dress. It was an elegant yet short formal dress. The tonal beaded trim details the strapless, sweetheart neckline. Crossed sashing defines the tuck-sculpted bodice and encircles the waist. A bikini-style back creates a sensuous diamond-shaped cutout, and the closely gathered, sheer-layer skirt floats to a lovely mini-level hemline. She then walked over to the piano and settled the pages for 'Broken Wings' on the music board and she started to play at a slow pace.

Someone by now should hear her playing the piano and walks in. She hoped it was either Lou or Cole so it would be much easier to explain. Sometimes, feelings are easier explained by music than it is by words. That is her plan to tell the two. At least three minutes have passed from this nine minute long piece. She kept her eyes on the piano and the music sheets when she heard the door open and heavy footsteps. She then knew it was Cole. He deserves an explanation.

"Nya?" She heard him ask but she didn't stop. Instead, she went on with her plan.

"Cole, do you remember why I wrote this piano piece?"

"This isn't irreverent-" He said but Nya made sure to cut him off.

"It is. Do you remember why?"

"Yes, you wrote it as an inspiration from your favorite… book." He then understood where she was going at.

"Continue." She said plainly and she kept her fingers moving and her eyes on the piano. She didn't want to look at Cole to see the hurt look on his face.

"It was about a girl, who was put into an arrange marriage but she never loved the guy. After the proposal but before the wedding, she found her true love but her father refused to cancel the wedding. But on the wedding day, she ran away because she didn't want to live that life. She ran to the forest where it snowed and in the end of the book, she turned into a raven…" He said slowly and Nya could hear the sadness in his voice with every word. Tear sprang in her eyes but she continued to play. Cole's footsteps grew closer and before she knew it, he was crouching down beside her. She could see him looking at her in the corner of her eyes. His chocolate brown eyes were teary and she took a sharp intake of air but she continued playing. "Is it true then?"

He asked but she kept playing without nodding or saying a word. She wanted him to figure it out. She swallowed to try and keep the new tears at bay but she couldn't.

"Are you in love with somebody else? Were you never in love with me?" His voice broke and Nya could feel her body tremble.

"I'm sorry Cole." She whispered softly and she removed her hands from the piano keys to wipe her tears away.

"Who is he?"

"Huh?"

"Who do you love then?" Cole asked her, he was still sad but she could hear jealously and anger in his voice. She slowly slid along her seat to get away from him.

"Look, I'm sorry okay? I thought I did love you but from all the books and the movies I've seen, what we had was nothing like what the characters had."

"That's because they're characters!"

"Don't shout please." She pleaded but Cole got up and towered over her.

"Why didn't you tell me this before? For a year I have loved you and my feelings for just kept growing stronger. Why didn't you tell me in the beginning? Can't you see how this is affecting me?"

"Because I was afraid! I was afraid alright? I was afraid of what you would react like. I wanted to tell you but I was scared. I told Kai that I didn't love you and he tried to get your father to cancel it but he said no! Can't you see how torn up I am! I have two ways. To stay with tradition and be sad for the rest of my life or ruin my status as princess to be with the one I truly love and can be happy with!"

"But I can make you happy-"

"No, you can't because you're not the one for me. Just because our traits are similar does not mean we make a perfect couple. Yes we're both independent and self-confident but that doesn't mean you're my guy!"

"So who is then?"

"It's really none of your concern."

"Yes it is since you chose him over me. Have you not realized that you have already caused chaos in the castle? Everyone is trying to keep the reporters out because they want to know why the princess decided to run away from her wedding. Tell me Nya." There was no more sadness in his voice but each word was dipped in venom and it made her feel unsafe.

"N-N-No!"

"Tell me!" His hands painfully grabbed her shoulders and a small yelp came from her lips.

"Don't you dare hurt her!" Nya gasped and she turned her head to see Jay in the door-way. She wondered why he was here and not at his house. The reason she wanted him at his house so Cole doesn't kill him on the spot. She felt Cole shake her and she looked back at his face.

"Is it him?"

"C-Cole, I-"

"Is it?!" He shouted.

"Jay, leave now." She said sternly in a demanding tone and she turned her head to see his eyes but he didn't move. "I said leave!"

"It is him. You're so dead." Cole's hands moved from her shoulders and Nya quickly got up to throw herself in front of Jay.

"Cole, stop now."

"No, I won't. He stole you away from me."

"And you think this will make everything better?" She snapped in a rather loud voice.

"Nya, move out of the way."

"No, I won't." She replied but he hands grabbed her arms and he pushed her onto her bed. She quickly sat up to see him tackling Jay down to the ground. She already knew who the winner of the fight would be. Cole was bigger than Jay with more muscles. Jay doesn't even stand a chance.

Sorry for the short chapter and little grammer errors (I didn't have enough time to proof-read) but this story should be ending soon within 10 chapters. Please leave your comments in the reviews and I hoped you like it!
