Chapter 13
Goodbye and Hello
.:Nya:.
"Cole! Stop!"
Nya yelled but her voice landed on deaf ears. She then jumped onto Cole's back and tried to pry him away from Jay but he violently jerk his arm back and hit her painfully in the chest. Nya tumbled against the ground and stopped when she hit the wall. Her head throbbed rather painfully and her chest felt like she have been a punching bag for a wrestler. She groaned and slowly pushed herself up but it hurt to move so she collapsed back down. She turned her head to see Cole punching Jay in the face and it made her heart clench to see him do so.
"No, don't!" But it didn't come out in a big voice but a soft one. Her vision came in and out of focus. She closed her eyes and opened it again to see two figures coming into the room. She made it out as Kai and Lou. Kai ran to her while Lou tried to break up the fight.
"Nya, who did this to you?" She heard Kai asked her as he gathered her into his arms. She let her head rest on her brother's chest.
"It's not Jay's fault… Trust me." She said softly and this made Kai looked back over his shoulder. She managed to see Lou between the two. She gasped when she saw Jay's bruised face and tears gathered in her eyes.
"What it's Cole?" Kai asked her but she didn't say anything. She didn't want Cole to get in trouble but a part of her wanted to say yes. Nya nodded stiffly and she saw angry bloom on the king's face. Kai picked her up and placed her on her bed. Nya managed to sit up and she then saw Kai storm over to Cole before pushing him to the wall. "What the hell Cole!"
"What do you mean what the hell Kai? You're the one pushing against the wall!" She heard Cole yelled.
"Did you realize what you have done?!" Her brother yelled and she wanted them to stop fighting. All this yelling wasn't helping her pounding head. She placed one of her hands on the back of her head and winched when a sharp pain blossomed. She moved her hand to see blood on it. She vision unfocused against and a grimace slowly appeared on her face. When she opened her eyes, Jay was in front of her. She gasped at his face. Now that he was closer, she could see every detail of his bruises. But Jay wasted no time to take off his shirt and pressed it to the back of her head. She winched again.
"I'm sorry." He muttered.
"No, I'm sorry… Your face."
"It hurts a bit but I'm fine… I should have left like you said so you wouldn't get hurt either." She watched as a frown appeared on his face and he readjusted the cloth. She then focused her attention on Kai, Cole and Lou.
"Kai, what is the meaning of this?" She heard Lou asked.
"He hurt Nya. Didn't you see her on the ground just before?" Kai hissed and pointed to a spot. Nya's eyes travelled to the wall where see saw a bit of blood on the wall.
"I-I… It's that prick fault! The reason Nya ran from the wedding is because she loves him!" She heard Cole yelled and she groaned in pain when her head throbbed painfully.
"Yeah but that doesn't changed the fact that you decided to hurt my sister!"
"It was an accident!"
"Who cares?! I thought you loved her! If you truly loved someone, all you want is for them to be happy so why try to hurt Jay and make her more upset? That would just make her hate you?! Are you not thinking Cole? So what if she loves him, that still doesn't give you the rights to hurt her!"
"Of course I love her-"
"Then let her be! You're only making things worst Cole!"
"And you knew about this didn't you?!"
"I knew she didn't love you but someone else. I didn't know it was Jay!"
"Both of you stop!" Lou shouted and Nya focused her attention but on Jay. He looked somewhat guilty.
"It's not your fault." She said softly.
"Nya." Both of them turned their heads to Lou. "Is it true, you love this boy instead of Cole?"
"Y-Yes…" She admitted and looked down.
"When I'm speaking to you, I expect you to look at me in the eyes." Lou said sternly and she looked at him. "When did this happen?"
"Two months ago." She replied and Lou frowned before he looked at Jay. Lou was then deep in thought. She looked at Kai who was frowning with his fists clench and Cole had a thunderous look. After a minute of awkward silence, Lou opened his mouth.
"I forbid you to see this boy."
"What?! No, please Lou!" Nya pleaded but Lou shook his head. She felt her heart drop and tears gathered in her eyes.
"And you boy. You are no longer working here."
"Please sir, there has to be another way." She also heard Jay pleaded but Lou kept shaking his head.
"Lou, don't do this to her. Look at her; she's already had a bad day." Kai said but Lou still didn't change his mind. Nya quickly turned around and pulled Jay into a tight hug.
"Nya." She heard Lou said sternly but she ignored him.
"Please, just remember I love you." She whispered in his ear and he nodded.
"I'll take my leave." She heard him say sadly and tears started to leak from her eyes. She watched sadly as he walked out of the room and turned right.
"Nya…" She heard her brother sigh but she couldn't take this anymore. Instead, she ran from the room despite her throbbing head.
.::.
It had been many weeks since the wedding and the last time she has seen Jay. During this time, Lou had made sure she doesn't leave the castle at all; not even into the gardens. Kai have been keeping her company but she was becoming stir-crazy. She only talked to Cole during meal times. Nya knew he was keeping his distance from her since he's still mad at her. Her phone has been taken away and she's not even allowed to send any letters. But tonight will be different. She rolled over in her bed and looked at her alarm clock. It was 10:37 at night. She knew Lou would fall asleep at nine whereas Cole and Kai fall asleep at ten.
Nya threw off her blankets and she changed out of her night attire and into a pair of jeans, a white tank top with a sweetheart bodice and a black, leather jacket. She then pulled on some black heel boots. She then got onto her hands knees and reached underneath her bed and grabbed a small bag and two long ropes. She went over to her window and opened it. She tied the first rope to the window's latch and another one to the window sill. She threw both ropes down the side but when she climbed out of the window, she held onto the window sill rope and she slowly lowered herself down. Once she touched the bottom, she wiggled the rope and it came undone and fell. She then pulled on the window latch rope. When she pulled it, the window closed. She then wiggled the rope again and it fell.
She gently pushed the ropes into a rose bush and grabbed some fallen leaves to cover the base. She quickly looked around. In theory, the guards should be changing rosters now so Nya would only have a minute or two to run. She bolted from the bushes and ran to the back gate. Nobody knows about. It was draped head to toe with ivy and vines. She stuck her hand into the vines and tried to find the handle. Once she did, she grabbed a key from her bag and she pushed it into the lock. Once she heard a click, she opened the gate. She panicked when the gate started to groan loudly. She opened it another inch and she squeezed through the gap. She sighed when her bag didn't fit through like her slim body. She opened it a little bit more and she managed to squeeze in. She then closed the gate and ran.
The palace was surrounded by a forest. It wasn't too thick but it was enough to hide her from the guards during the night. After a minute of running in the dark, she opened her bag and placed the key in and brought out a touch. If she ran straight, she should be at the treehouse she, Kai and Cole made when they were young. Once she did, she smiled at the fond memories. But she walked over to the small shed that they made to store their gear from the rain. Since the key went missing many years ago; Nya took out a bobby pin from her hair and she tried pick-locking it. She tried for minutes and groaned in frustration when she didn't hear a click. She then looked to the lock and saw it was unlock.
That means someone must have already pick-locked the lock. But when she opened it, she was glad her brother's bike was still in there. It was fairly small but Nya managed to ride out of the woods and onto the streets. She had been to Jay's new house once but that was when Jay drove her. She was glad she had got a GPS for her birthday and she have never opened it. She took out her GPS and punch in the address for Jay's house and then changed it to bike mode. She quickly put the volume on mute and she started riding. Now she hopes she doesn't get caught.
At least twenty minutes have passed and she was tired but she was at Jay's house. It was a small, charming brick house. The bricks were a light cream colour with white tiles for the roof. The door was made out with white timber as well as the windows. There was a single car garage on the left and a small garden at the front. She remembered how she and Jay planted flowers in the afternoon. She smiled when she saw it was still there. She knew it was late but this was the only time she could see Jay. When she came up the front door, she had just realized the lights in the house were on. She softly knocked on the door and she could see shuffles from the other side.
"It's bloody 11:02 at night, why would anyone visit at this hour." She heard Jay's voice on the other side. She became worried that Jay had someone else over. The door opened and Jay looked terrible. His hair was a mess, his nose was red and he had bags underneath his eyes. "N-Nya?"
"Hi Jay. You look terrible," she said softly, "can I come in? I rode all the way here."
"Y-Yeah, sure." He said and he stood to the side. Nya walked in and in the living room, there was at least two boxes of tissues, a kettle, a mug, a couple of tea bags and a small bin. On the couch, there was a pillow and a large blanket.
"Are you sick?" She asked softly.
"A bit…" He trailed off. Immediately she walked over to his small kitchen and burrowed through his pantry. "W-What are you looking for?"
"Do you have honey anywhere?"
"Yeah, should be here." Jay walked in and he reached for the top shelf and gave it to her.
"Have a teaspoon of honey with tea or hot milk and you should be fine in no time."
"Thanks Nya… You can't be here. What happens if we get caught?" He asked but she smiled softly and reached her hand out to cup his cheek.
"They won't find out. If they do, I'll get in trouble. It's not your fault. Come on, you're sick, go back to the couch."
"Nya, you're my guest-"
"Nah ah, you're my sick boyfriend and I'm going to make you better." She grabbed a teaspoon from his cutlery drawer and she pushed him to the couch. She was glad when he sat on the bed and lay down. She drew the blanket to cover his chest and she then went to boil a kettle. She went through all the tea bags he had. There was green tea, jasmine tea, wild berry, English breakfast and many more. "Which one do you like the best?"
"Umm *Ahek* wild berry." He coughed and she grabbed the tea bag and placed it in the empty mug. She then poured the hot water into the mug and then added a teaspoon of honey into it.
"Here." She said and she helped him sat up and gave him the tea.
"Thanks Nya but you shouldn't. You'll get sick and I'll get you sick."
"It's alright. I already got it planned out."
"How?"
"Well, I climbed out of my bedroom window and I had to bring the rope down so they don't ask why I'm sneaking out of the window. I thought when I get back; I'll take a nap near the lake behind the shed since guards normally don't check there. If I get sick then I'll say it's from sleeping outside. I can always come up with something. Sure the wedding wasn't properly thought through but this one is." She told him with a bright smile and she then watched him eat the tea.
"Yuck, this tastes terrible."
"I only added in a teaspoon of honey. Are you telling me you don't like honey?"
"Why did you think I put the honey in the top shelf for?"
"It's icky and bitter-"
"It's sweet!" Nya protested and she used the other end of the spoon and popped it into her mouth.
"You're telling me it's not yuck?"
"Yep," she grinned, "come on big baby, drink the rest. You only need a teaspoon a day and you're done."
Sorry for the delay but I hoped you all liked it! Please leave a review.
