Chapter 22:

Ratliff's POV-

So far this date thing whatever you want to call it, has gone well… if you count well as not breaking up with her yet. I mean I want to, really want to do it, but somehow I can't get the words to come out of my mouth and say it too her.

"Ratliff, are you okay? I mean you've been quiet the whole time." Rydel said, breaking off the silence.

"Look Rydel…" I started, trying to get the right words to come out of my mouth. They just wouldn't form. Man I hope I never break up with Rocky because well one I love him so much and I don't see that happening, but two break ups are hard. Just as I was about to continue speaking I heard someone scream 'look out'. I looked at Rydel confused and she was looking back at me with the same expression. Then there was a car speeding down the road, towards us. I mean we weren't in the middle of the road but never the less the sight was still scary. Just as the car went past, I thought I caught a glimpse of the driver, but I wasn't too sure of who it was.

"Maia…" Rydel muttered trailing off and I turned around to face her.

"What?" I asked, still wide eyed.

"That… That was Maia driving like a maniac. Reason why unknown but that was her driving, I'm sure of that." She said

"But…" I trailed off and she stared wide eyed back at me before we both ran to where the scream was and a crowd of people were forming. "Come on people move out of the way" I said, shoving the people that wouldn't move, but most people did. Once we got to the front of the crowd, I heard Rydel gasp from beside me.

"Paige!" She simply said before running over to the person. Wonders how she could tell who it was from here is anyone's guess but she could.

"Oh my god…" I trailed off once I got to her. She was barely breathing, unconscious and there was blood coming from her head.

"Has anyone called an ambulance?" Rydel yelled franticly, looking around.

"I did… I did it the second it happened." A voice said, and I recognised that voice.

"Thanks James."(***) I simply said as I looked at him.

"I tried to warn her, I seriously did. I yelled at her to 'look out' as she was crossing the road as the speeding car came… but it was too late and within a heartbeat she was like that." He said, kneeling down.

"You don't get it do you?! It's not just one life at stake here… She's 6 months pregnant! If this ambulance doesn't hurry the fuck up and get here right now, Ross could lose his fiancé and his unborn child that he might not even know exists, but that's not the point. The point is that…. Ross!" Rydel explained, screaming his name. "He doesn't know! Ell call him, he needs to know about her!" She then yelled at me.

"I'm on it…" I trailed off, getting my phone out of my pocket. "Right there's nothing to see here, just move out the god damn way so the ambulance can get here." I yelled out and immediately the crowd started to disappear. I then dialled Ross' number and waited for him to pick up.

Ross/Ell

Paige if this is… he started before getting cut off.

It's not Paige, far from it.

Oh hey Ell what's up?

You need to go to the hospital man…

Why do I need to go there?

It's Paige. I said, before the line went dead.

Ross' POV-

Isn't it weird how one little phone call can change your whole life? Well that's what has just happened. This morning I was in love with someone… and now I find out that person is going to the hospital? As soon as I heard those words, I dropped my phone and ran out the room and knocked on everyone else's, one at the time and they eventually came out.

"Guys, we've got to go to the hospital." I simply said, trying to hold back the tears. It makes it 10000x worse when the last thing that happened between us was an argument. Why did I have to be so stupid and not tell her about Maia, maybe, just maybe this could have been avoided… right?

"What? Why?" Raini asked and I shook my head before taking off downstairs and out the hotel room and hailing a taxi. Even though I'm sure that taxi ride wasn't as long as I thought it was, it felt like eternity. Once the taxi got there I gave the driver some cash, I weren't counting how much it was before running inside the hospital.

"Um, Paige Thomson?" I asked once I got to the desk and the receptionist looked at me weirdly.

"Are you a family member?" She asked, raising her eyebrow.

"No, she's my fiancée." I said and she looked at me even more weirdly.

"Yeah right. I can't let anyone go unless there family members. Sorry kid." She simply said, looking smug. Oh she doesn't believe me.

"Look, all I got was a call from my band mate about her saying she was here. Now, she may or may not be on deaths door so why don't you stop with your bullshit and tell me where the hell she is because I don't have time to play your stupid games when my fiancé needs me, got it?" I exclaimed, trying to keep my temper, but partly failing.

"ROSS!" I heard a voice yell, and I turned to face Rydel. Oh thank god she's here, but she's been crying… a lot by the looks of things. Please tell me she was crying out of happiness instead of sadness.

"Rydel!" I yelled back, running over to her. "What happened?" I then asked, but instead of answering me she pulled me into a big bone crushing hug. "Rydel…What happened? Tell me please?" I asked again once she pulled away.

"Just come with me first, get a drink and sit down then I'll tell you about it." She simply said, grabbing my hand and leading me somewhere. First it was the cafeteria, I got a tea before she led me to Ell and… James? What's he doing here?

"James? What are you doing here?" I asked and Rydel and Ell looked at each other giving one and other a look… Well this can't be good.

"I'm here… because… I saw what happened. I'm sorry Ross! There was nothing I could do!" He exclaimed as I sat down. What does he mean?

"Guys, what's happened?" I asked everyone as more people came running down the hall way. It was only everyone else. Rocky immediately looked at Ell and Ell gave him a quick for anyone to notice shake of his head. But I noticed. "Can someone please just tell me what the hell is going on? Please!" I basically yelled at them and Ell and Rydel sighed.

"Okay, Ross, you're not going to like this one point, and remember I couldn't do anything about it." James started and I looked at him confused. "Paige was run over." He simply added and looked down.

"What do you mean?" I asked, almost angry. I think I had a pretty good idea who it was… But how would she know where we are.

"She was hit by a car, Ross! How else do you want it explaining! The car came speeding towards her, like it was fucking intended to happen Ross! Somebody does not like her for whatever reason! She was barely breathing Ross… she might not make it." He then said, he looked like he was going to say something else but decided not to. Then it clicked. The magazine was planted on purpose… The car accident... It was Maia (This he figures out?)

"This is YOUR entire fault!" I exclaimed to Rocky and everyone looked at me confused… Well besides from Ell and Rydel… something tells me that they know it was her.

"ME? How is it my fault that your fiancé was ran over?" He then asked. He was going to say something else but I pinned him up to the wall.

"You just had to bring the psychopath back into my life didn't you? I knew something like this would happen and now look, my fiancé is at deaths door and it was obviously planned. I mean someone slid a magazine under our hotel room this morning, when I went out. Want to know what that magazine said? It said, and I quote 'Teen beach movie stars Ross Lynch and Maia Mitchel dating?!' You can imagine how that went when I walked back into the room… she was not a happy bunny!" I explained to him, and he looked at me with fear evident in his eyes.

"Ross, stop!" I heard Riker yell from behind me, but I just ignored him.

"So once again this is your fault!" I exclaimed to him. "So thanks for all this! I was blaming myself for a moment there, but then I realised it was obviously planned by her! Thank you for ruining my life Rocky! Thanks so much!" I then added.

"How was I supposed to know she'll do this, huh? She actually seemed like a nice sweet girl before I broke up with her… then I saw the real side of her. I should of believed you when you when you warned me about her! I'm sorry Ross! This wasn't supposed to happen!" He explained to me and I rolled my eyes. I was about to reply but the doctor came out.

"Erm, what's going on here?" He then asked, eyeing me and Rocky.

"Nothing." I simply said, releasing Rocky, but sending him a glare.

"Okay then, I take it you're all here for Paige Thomson, right?" He asked and we all nodded. "Alright… Her status is critical and she might not make it through the night… From damage done to her, this was obviously intentioned. Her right lung is punctured and her heartbeat is dangerously slow. She has internal bleeding right near her brain and to fix that that's a risky operation considering the condition she's in." He said.

"Well is there anything you can do to save her?" I asked, cutting him off.

"Well yes… If you want the baby to die that is."

See, I told you you might hate me for it... I'm sorry it's short, its 1am here and I'm going out in the morning.. that and I felt that was a good(ish!) place to end the chapter.

*** Oh James is James from The Vamps.. If you all remember a couple of chapters ago they joined the story so yeah. That's who James is =)
