Chapter 24:
Rocky's POV-
Okay, what the hell just happened? One minute everything was okay and we weren't in the hospital, the next we are, Paige is on deaths door, Ross told everyone about me and Ellington and Ell himself is knocked out and lying like he's dead on the floor. Rydel's crying her eyes out, not that I blame her after that bombshell, Ross has left and Riker is as angry, or pissed off, as heck. None of this is going to help Paige, that's the last thing she needs, if she makes it, a pissed of fiancé. He's probably gone outside to cool down and think about what he has done.
"Rocky?" A voice asked, the persons hand waving in front of my face. It was only Ryland; I'm guessing Laura has gone after Ross or something like that because she isn't here either.
"What?" I asked back to him.
"I'm just checking your still with us, you seemed to of zoned out and frozen dead. Not that I blame you but you know." Ryland then replied and I smiled at him.
"Thanks, at least there's one brother that cares about my feelings right now." I told him, shrugging my shoulders.
"You were always my favourite brother… shh." Ryland whispered and I chuckled. "I'm always going to care about you, so is Ross once he's taken a freaking chill pill, he probably realised what he's done in anger and now he feels as guilty as heck, and well Riker… well god knows what's going through his head right now." He then added, causing me to sigh.
"Thanks man, well I think Ross is as pissed off with me as much as Riker is pissed off at Ell, you know? I mean he cheated on her with me so I'm also going to be part of the blame you know. I know he won't knock me out like he did with Ellington, but he's going to do something to me, he can't not do, really. It wouldn't be fair if one of us takes all the blame and all the punishment and the other one does nothing. I'm sure he'd be the same if it was the other way round… I know Rydel's going to hate me forever about this, I mean I'm the cause for the reason why her boyfriend, that she really loved, cheated on her." I explained to him and he nodded.
"Whatever happens man, just know that you're not going to be completely alone in this. You have me and Ellington if he decides to stick around after all this. I just cannot believe Ross did all that, that wasn't the Ross we all know and love, and if Paige could see that, I'm sure she'd say the same about it." Ryland replied, and I sighed once again.
"I think he decided enough was enough. I don't blame him, with everything going on, like. I just guess he got annoyed with all the secrets that were being kept, he just had enough and admitted once of the worse secrets that one could admit, someone cheating. I'm ashamed to be a part of it, but Ry, I do love Ell, I had realised that before Ellington and Rydel got together. It just started off as a mere crush like a year ago or something, but everyday those feelings got stronger and stronger and it broke my heart watching them two together, every single day, so when I asked Maia out, 6 months ago, I finally thought it was about time I got over him, and well now look what happened, Paige is on her death bed, there's a 3 month premature baby on it's away and it's partly my fault for bringing Maia back into Ross' life. I realise that now. Dear god, why did I not listen to Ross or Ellington for that matter, maybe, just maybe, all this could have been avoided." I exclaimed.
"Wait, what do you mean 'why didn't you listen to Ellington'?" Ryland asked me, and I just stayed silent for a moment.
"He had this feeling about her, a bad one. He told me to stay away and we had an argument and that and well that was the night we slept together…" I said, before getting interrupted.
"WOAH OKAY, DID NOT NEED TO KNOW THE DETAILS MAN!" Ryland yelled and I just chuckled softly. "I mean he's one of my best friends and you're my brother. Wow, I did not expect to say those words in my life…" He added, trailing off the last part of the sentence.
"Nice to see you've come back to life." I heard Rydel say and I looked over to her and I saw Ell slowly regaining consciousness. Well this is going to be… entertaining. Everyone grab your popcorn. "Shouldn't I be the one saying that, Rocky? You were thinking out loud by the way." Her voice then added and I just stared blankly at her.
"Rydel, I know you're upset and confused and angry right now, but we're all adults here, we can sit down and talk about it, somewhere else I mean. This isn't the right place or the right time and you know that." I told her and she just shook her head.
"I know that, but what I think what's part of the reason is that you don't want it getting out to the world what you two did… I mean most of society don't approve of gay couples after all. Why would you two be any different? Especially, after when everyone finds out that he cheated." Rydel then said, shrugging her shoulders in the process.
"If you do that, don't you think about consequences, not just for us, but for the band as well, Rydel?" Ellington said and Rydel rolled her eyes.
"You should of thought of that before you cheated on her!" Riker exclaimed and I sighed.
"Riker, we're in a hospital." I informed him and he just looked between the both of us.
"Yeah, but if he hurts my sister even more than he has, there's going to be one more patient inside." Riker simply said and Ells eyes widened.
"And get done for assault? What kind of logic is that, Riker?" I asked before continuing. "Besides, why beat only him up? I mean we both did it, so why wouldn't you do the same to me?" I then added and Riker sighed.
"You're my brother; I'm not going to beat you up, but him on the other hand, maybe so." He answered and I rolled my eyes.
"I might of not been the one that cheated, but we both did the same thing, so what you do to him, you should rightfully do to me as well. Go on, put us both in hospital. It's the right thing to do if you're going to do it to him." I replied and Riker looked between the both of us before sighing.
"I need air." He simply said before walking towards the exit and I heard Ellington sigh in relief.
"Oh no. Just because Riker's a softy, doesn't mean you're getting off the hook that easily you two. Riker might be more dangerous when he's angry, but I'm pretty pissed off, I can be just as dangerous if I wanted too. But Rocky's right, we should talk about this like adults, so I just want to know, why did you do it?" Rydel asked, looking at me and him.
"Rydel…" I started, before she cut me off.
"No, I want to hear it from him." Rydel interrupted, looking at Ratliff. He just looked up at me, unsurely. Well is there really a reason to why we slept together? We weren't drunk so, what could we say without hurting Rydel more?
Well hell.
Ross' POV-
"ROSS WAIT!" I heard Laura yell for what seemed like the millionth time and she grabbed my arm and turned me around to face her.
"What do you want Laura? To see if I'm alright? To ask why I just did what I did. Laura, I had enough of all the secrets and lies. I knew he wasn't going to admit it anytime soon, despite what he could be telling Rocky, he doesn't want to hurt her, but he wouldn't have done it if he didn't want to hurt her." I explained to her and she sighed.
"But Ross, was that really the right time and place to do that? In a hospital where your baby and fiancé may or may not be dying? Your timing is horrible Ross! Yes I want to know why and yes I want to know if you're alright, I do care about you!" She exclaimed and then it was my turn to sigh.
"Oh really, hadn't noticed because you seem so wrapped around Riker recently, I wasn't sure you cared anymore!" I yelled and she just looked at me shocked.
"Ross, of course I care. Regardless if I'm dating Riker or not, I'm always going to care about you! You're my best friend, Ross. Well all of you are, but besides from me and Riker, I'm closer to you because of Austin and Ally, we worked together for 3 years and, sure we're not working together on a show anymore, but you're still going to be my best friend, no matter what happens. I know once you've calmed down and had time to think, you're going to regret doing what you did." Laura said and I just chuckled softly and shook my head.
"Laura, Rydel deserved to know what Ellington was up to behind her back and I had enough of secrets in this band/family, I just exploded and came out with a secret that wasn't my secret to tell, but do I regret it and feel guilty about it? No. She needed to know, Laura. Wouldn't of you liked to know if you were in her shoes?" I asked her.
"That aside Ross, you might of thought you were doing the right thing, but you really weren't. You're going to need your family in the near by future, a hell of a lot. You're going to need your friends as well, you're not going to get that by possibly tearing your family in two. I know Rydel's going to be pretty annoyed with Rocky and Ellington and she's quite possibly not going to talk to him ever again, but that's not his fault, that's yours. If the baby survives and Paige doesn't you're going to be a single father, you're going to need your family with you and you're not going to get that if one person is mad at another person in your family. In this case, it's going to be Rydel and Rocky. They're barely going to talk to each other now, well Rydel isn't anyway and Rocky will probably try and make it up to her, but that isn't the point, you've probably torn your family in two, just when you might need them most. Ever think of that when you had your moment of revenge?" Laura explained to me and I sighed and looked down. "Also, what about the band? What are you going to do if Rydel absolutely hates Rocky and Ell, like she can't stand to be with them? Ever think what consequence that's going to have on the band?" She then added, which caused a lot of guilt.
"Oh man… I've quite possibly fucked things up, haven't I?" I asked her, already knowing the answer.
"You really have…. You know, let's just go back to the hospital… you need to be there and Paige needs you there as well." Laura said and I just simply nodded and walked back to the hospital.
Laura's POV-
"Well done, I've never seen anyone get through to him like that, not even mom or Paige." I heard a voice say and it turned out to be Riker… creep.
"What are you doing, creeping around?" I asked with a slight laugh and he chuckled slightly as well.
"I needed air and I saw you two so I eavesdropped slightly. Do you really think that's what it's going to be like from now? Rydel hating Rocky and Ellington's guts?" He asked me and I sighed.
"I don't know Riker, there is a high possibly that, that's the case. I don't want it to be, but the more I think about it, the more I think it's more likely going to be like that from now on. I mean her first boyfriend cheated on her with her own brother, and said brother didn't do anything about it. I never thought Rocky would turn out to be gay…" I trailed off and Riker nodded.
"To be honest, I thought Ross would, not going to lie. But with all this with Paige, and well seeing him with a girl who he is –or was- happy with, I realised I was wrong, he's never been the type to have a long lasting relationship, but he proposed to her, I never saw that one coming." Riker than said.
"You could just tell how much he loved her by the way he just simply looked at her… he thinks the world of her, and it's going to break him if she doesn't make it." I said and he nodded as we both started following him.
Hurray for a happy-ish ending... sorta. Maybe. It's not a bad ending but it's not a good one either... it's the last good one for a while for whats about to come...
seriously, just prepare yourselves for the next couple of chapters.
