School has been brutal recently, but I finally finished off this chapter! Instead of splitting it into parts 2 and 3 I just made it one big chapter to make up for it taking so long to update. I hope you guys like it and thank you so much for all of the awesome reviews! Also, note that the story now has a cover. I wanted you guys to be able to see kind of how I picture Aubri looking and Yvonne Strahovski is the closest I can find, so yeah that's what that whole thing is!
Sam had gotten a license plate number off of the security footage and the storage unit place and they had tracked down the location of the men who drove the car. Dean navigated the Impala down a narrow alleyway and came to a stop next to a car parked on the side of the road, "Connecticut, last three digits 880."
Sam nodded grimly, "Yeah, that's them."
Dean tsk-ed and shook his head, "Should've blacked out the plates before they parked in front of the security camra." He chastised.
"So, what do we do now?" Aubri asked, leaning forward in her seat, "Do we just go up there and knock on the door and say 'We think you may have stolen an extremely powerful cursed object, please give it back before you die'?"
Putting the Impala into park, Dean pulled his gun out and checked to see if it was loaded while Sam looked over his shoulder at Aubri, "Pretty much."
"And if that doesn't work?" She asked.
"Then we ask again," Dean held his gun up with a smile and waved it around slightly, "Just a little more forcefully."
They left Folsom in the car and went to the apartment building. As they made their way up the stairs, Dean turned to look at Aubri, "You gonna tell me to wait here?" She asked, preparing herself for an argument.
He shook his head, "I would if I thought there was even the slightest chance of you actually listening, but I know that's not gonna happen. Just stay behind me and Sam ok? And if things go South in there you clear out. Go back to the car, get the mutt, and call Bobby. Don't do something stupid like try to be a hero if things go bad."
Aubri nodded, seeing the serious look in his eye, "Ok, just, be careful."
"Am I ever anything but?" He said, giving her a crooked grin and ruffling her hair lightly before turning around to catch up with Sam, pulling his gun out as he did so.
With a roll of her eyes, Aubri picked up the pace so she wouldn't get left behind, exiting the stairwell and slowing down when they did. Dean quietly pushed the door open and made his way into the apartment, walking soundlessly with his gun out as Sam and Aubri followed behind him. They could hear the quiet sounds of two men laughing and talking to each other in a room further down the hall and Aubri moved closer to Sam, who had just pulled his gun out as well. She caught some of what the men were saying, one of them was claiming that he couldn't lose and that there was no way they were handing over whatever it was that they had to some stuck up bitch.
Dean motioned to Aubri for her to stay put and then he and Sam ran out from behind the corner, "Freeze! Freeze, nobody move!" He yelled as he and Sam trained their guns on the two men. "Don't move!"
Aubri had moved to the edge of the doorway Sam and Dean had just gone through and peeked her head around the corner to get a better look at what was going on. She could see the two men with their hands in the air as one of them spoke, "What is this?" He asked nervously.
"Alright, give us the box." Dean ordered, approaching the man with the bandaged arm. "Please tell me that you didn't…"
Sam noticed the open box sitting on the coffee table, "Oh they did."
"You opened it?" Dean yelled, grabbing the man by the shirt and pushing him against the wall, gun still trained just above his heart.
"Are you guys cops?" The man asked frantically.
"What was in the box?" Dean asked, as Aubri, out of sight, edged her way around the corner to assess the situation better.
The man with the bandaged arm looked over Dean's shoulder at the rabbit's foot lying on the table and Dean followed his line of sight, "Oh, is that it?" The man quickly looked away, "It was wasn't it? What is that anyway?" He asked, turning again to look over his shoulder. The moment his eyes were off of him, the man Dean had pushed against the wall shoved him, causing him to drop his gun. When the gun hit the ground it went off, bullet bouncing off the radiator and hitting Sam's gun, causing him to shoot.
Aubri had started to back out of the room when Sam's gun went off. She jerked to the side, feeling a burning sensation on her arm, but not wanting to take her eyes off of the fight that was happening. What was happening in front of her would almost be comical if it weren't for the fact that Sam and Dean were getting their asses handed to them like they had never fought a day in their lives. Aubri bumped into the door jamb as she backed up, sending a shooting pain up her arm, which caused her to finally look down to see what had happened. When she looked down, she saw a tear in her jacket sleeve and blood seeping out, staining the fabric. "Shit." She muttered, leaning back against the wall, suddenly feeling very light-headed as she clapped her hand over the wound. Leaning heavily against the wall, she slowly slid down into a sitting position as she kept her hand on her arm and tried to stop her head from spinning as the fighting continued.
After seeing the two guys that had just been kicking their asses fall over themselves and knock themselves out, Dean looked at Sam, "That was a lucky break. Is that a rabbit's foot?"
"I think it is." Sam said, looking at the foot dangling in his hand.
"Huh…" Dean looked around the room, "Aubs, you ok?" He had hoped that she would clear out when the fighting started, but he had caught a glimpse of her just before the gun went off. When he saw her, his heart nearly stopped. She was sitting on the ground, back against the wall, as she clutched her arm. Blood was starting to seep through her fingers and her face was white as a sheet as she turned to look at him, blue eyes wide as saucers. "Shit Aubs." Dean muttered as he quickly crossed over to her, kneeling down and cupping her cheek in one of his hands. "Didn't I tell you to clear out of here?" He asked, despite the worry choking his voice, a teasing tone managed to slip out.
That broke her out of her daze and she snorted with laughter, a tear escaping the corner of her eye, "I was just about to back out of here when the gun went off." She shook her head and laughed quietly, "The one time I plan on actually listening to you and I get shot." Her arm was starting to throb and her lower lip trembled slightly as she looked Dean in the eye again. "Is it bad? I… I was scared to look."
Another tear managed to slip out, causing Dean's heart to clench as he brushed it away. He felt Sam come up next to him and turned to see him holding strips of an old towel in his hand. "Let's take a look." He said softly, taking the strips of towel from Sam's hand.
Aubri slowly removed her hand from her arm, fingers shaking slightly as she looked at the wet blood shining red on them. "There's so much blood." She whispered, turning her hand slowly.
Dean let out a shaky breath as he finished looking at the wound and started tying the strips of towel around it. "It's just a graze." When he finished tying the knot he looked up at her to see confusion in her eyes. "Those can bleed a lot, but it's just a graze. You might need a couple stitches for it though." He reassured her, taking her hand again and giving it a light squeeze.
"Dean we should get going." Sam urged, looking over his shoulder at the two men lying unconscious behind them.
He nodded, standing up and then reaching down to grab Aubri under the arms to pull her up into a standing position. "You ok sweetheart?" He asked as she swayed slightly.
She nodded slowly as she regained her balance, "Yeah, yeah I'm ok."
Wrapping his arm around her waist, he quickly pulled her towards him, holding her tightly as she rested her head against his chest with a sigh. His free hand went up to cup the back of her head, holding her still as he kissed the top of her head softly. "Don't scare me like that again Blondie." He chastised softly, not quite wanting to admit just how much she had scared him when he saw her on the ground, but needing her to know so she would be more careful next time because there would undoubtedly be a next time.
Aubri looked up at him and the worry in his eyes made her heart skip a beat. Leaning forward on her tiptoes, she pressed a soft kiss to his lips that left them both wanting more when she pulled away, "I'll do my best Winchester." She said with a small smile, "Now we should get going, my arm hurts like nothing else and I sure as hell don't want to be here when those two wake up."
~TFS~
After checking into a motel, stitching up Aubri's arm, and making sure Folsom was settled, they drove to the nearest place where they could buy scratch off tickets. Dean had had an idea while waiting for Sam to finish stitching up Aubri's arm and this was how they were going to test his theory. Dean got out and bought the tickets while Sam and Aubri waited in the car. "How's the arm feeling Aubs?" Sam asked, turning to look over the seat at her.
She had almost dozed off, exhausted from the excitement earlier, but her eyes snapped open at his question. Lifting her arm slightly, she winced, "It hurts like a bitch, but according to you two knuckle heads I'll live. So all in all it's good I guess."
She smiled at him good naturedly as Dean climbed back into the car and held out the tickets. "Are we really doing this Dean?" Sam asked, thinking that Dean's theory that the rabbit's foot was actually lucky was pretty crazy. "There's nothing in Dad's journal about it so what happened back there was probably just a fluke."
Dean shook his head, "That was my gun he had pointed at your head back there, and my gun don't jam, no way. Not to mention them taking themselves out, also a lucky break." He shook the tickets at Sam, "Scratch one."
"Come on Sam, what's it gonna hurt just to scratch one little ticket?" Aubri asked teasingly, leaning forward between the guys. "Maybe you'll win another ticket."
Sam took a ticket from Dean and pulled out a quarter to start scratching with, "You guys, it's gonna be cursed somehow, otherwise Dad wouldn't have locked it up." He handed the ticket to Dean without even looking at it and Aubri leaned forward in anticipation.
"Twelve-hundred dollars." Dean said disbelievingly. "You just won twelve-hundred dollars!" He laughed and let out an excited yell before handing Sam the rest of the tickets. "I don't know man, doesn't seem that cursed to me."
After Sam finished scratching off the tickets, he handed them to Dean and they all got out of the car so he could call Bobby and see if he knew anything about the foot. While Sam was on the phone, Aubri stood next to Dean as he laid all of the tickets out on the hood of the Impala. "He won something on every one." She said, amazed. "That thing really is lucky."
"Sure is sweetheart." Dean said with a laugh, putting an arm around her and pulling her to his side. Her little wince of pain didn't escape his notice, "You ok there Blondie?"
She smiled up at him, "Sure, for someone who just got shot, I'm just peachy." He looked like he didn't quite believe her, but she just leaned her head against him briefly before pulling away. Sure her arm still hurt, but she didn't feel like ruining his excitement over all the money they had just won by letting him know that.
They watched Sam as he paced while he talked to Bobby. He bent over to pick something up and held up a nice looking gold watch, "Awesome." Dean whispered.
Aubri shook her head and smiled. This streak of luck was great, but she couldn't help but feel that whatever Bobby had to say to Sam about that rabbit's foot wasn't good news. She looked back down at the scratch off tickets spread out in front of them and quickly did the math in her head. "You know, that's fifteen thousand dollars right there." She said quietly to Dean.
"You're kidding." Dean said, doing the math in his head to make sure she was right. When Sam hung up the phone, Dean looked up with a smile on his face, "Dude, we're up fifteen grand!"
From the look on Sam's face Aubri could tell that he was less than thrilled about how much money they had won. "What did Bobby have to say?" She asked, walking over to him with a concerned look on her face.
"The foot's cursed. If you lose it you die." Sam explained detachedly, obviously thinking about something.
"Then we don't lose it. Come on, let's get some food." Dean reassured him before turning to walk into the Biggerson's.
"Bobby doesn't seem to think we'll be able to hang onto it for long. Seems this thing has a way of getting lost." Sam said, following behind Dean and Aubri.
"Then we find a way to break the curse." Aubri offered.
Sam shook his head, thinking that that probably wasn't going to work. "Don't worry about it man, Bobby'll find a way to break this. In the meantime why don't you say we hit Vegas, pull a little Rain Man action, huh? You can be Rain Man." Dean smiled at the thought of all the money they would win.
"Let's just lie low until Bobby calls back alright?" Sam said as they walked up to the register, "Table for three please."
Aubri jumped slightly as the old man behind the register yelled, "Congratulations!" and a buzzer went off. He pulled a giant cardboard check out from the back and handed it to them, "You are the one millionth guest of the Biggerson's restaurant family!"
After having balloons and confetti dropped on them and God only knows how many pictures taken of them, they finally were seated and served their food. Sam got his laptop out and started looking up everything he could on the rabbit's foot while Aubri and Dean dug into their sundaes. "Bobby's right." Sam said defeatedly, "This lore goes way back, pure hoodoo." He shut his laptop with a sense of finality. "You can't just cut one off of any rabbit. It has to be in a cemetery, under a full moon, on Friday the 13th."
Aubri shook her head, "I loved my major, I really did, but shit it would have been so much easier to pay attention if we had learned about hoodoo magic and witchcraft some of the time."
Dean set his bowl down, "I say from now on we only go to places with Biggerson's." He had obviously been ignoring what Sam said.
A waitress walked up as Dean fought off the effects of a brain freeze, "Can I freshen you up?" She asked politely.
"Yeah, thanks." Sam said sliding his cup over.
Aubri watched the waitress with open curiosity when she saw how her and Sam looked at each other. A smile played on her lips at the thought of Sam maybe having a little fun in his life, he was always so serious about everything. Her smile faded when the waitress suddenly overfilled Sam's cup, spilling coffee onto the table and his lap. "I'm sorry." The waitress apologized as Sam tried to reassure her that everything was fine. "It's no trouble, really." She added with a smile. "Sorry about that."
Dean was watching the interaction with his mouth hanging slightly open and Aubri elbowed him in the ribs, glaring at him when he looked at her. "Shut your mouth Winchester." She whispered with a pointed nod.
He shook his head, but closed his mouth, and went back to watching what was happening. After the waitress walked away, she shot Sam one last glance over her shoulder and both of the guys leaned forward to watch her walk away. Aubri leaned back against the seat and shook her head, boys.
"Dude, if you were ever gonna get lucky." Dean said, turning to look at his brother.
"Shut up." Sam shot back, a shy smile on his face. He went to grab his coffee cup and then all hell broke loose. His coffee spilled in his lap burning him, and when he stood up to get away fro the hot liquid he knocked into a server, spilling food everywhere.
Aubri leaned forward in her seat, a perplexed look on her face, "That wasn't very lucky." She said quietly as Sam checked his pockets.
When his pockets came up empty, Dean quickly stood up, "Son of a bitch."
"What is it?" Aubri asked, struggling to get up quickly without jostling her arm too much.
"The waitress, she snagged to foot." Dean called over his shoulder.
Sam and Dean went out the door ahead of her, jogging in the direction the waitress must have gone. Aubri made it around the corner just in time to see Sam trip and eat it on the asphalt. "Are you ok?" She asked, running over to kneel down next to him.
"Wow, you suck." Dean said as he turned around and came back to check on his brother.
"I guess now we know what happens when you lose the foot." Aubri observed, standing up as Sam did and inhaling sharply when she saw his skinned knees.
"Your luck turns bad?" Dean asked.
Sam winced as he looked up, "I guess."
"I wonder how bad?" Dean grimaced as he walked ahead of them towards the Impala.
~TFS~
They stopped by the motel room so Aubri could take a few painkillers and so Sam could change into some pants that weren't ripped, and then they headed over to the apartment of the men who stole the foot in the first place. When they walked into the apartment, the man who hadn't touched the rabbit's foot was sitting in a chair pouring whiskey onto the floor. He looked up when Dean pushed the door all the way open and a look of dismay crossed his face, "Aw man, what do you want?"
Aubri eased her way into the room, making sure to stay behind Sam and Dean, just in case something went down. "Heard about your friend, that's bad luck." Dean said, moving ahead and motioning slightly for Aubri and Sam to stay back.
"Piss off." The man in the chair said angrily.
"We know someone hired you to steal the rabbit's foot, a woman." Dean continued.
"Oh yeah, how do you know that?"
"Cause she just stole it back from us."
The man started to laugh and Aubri saw Sam start to move towards him. "Listen man this is serious…" He started before tripping on a cord and falling over, taking a lamp down with him.
Aubri rushed over to him, "You ok?" She asked quietly, helping him back up after he reassured her with a nod.
Dean tossed a glance over his shoulder and Aubri gave him a thumbs up as she finished helping Sam get up. "I want you to tell us her name." He said, turning back to face the man in the chair.
"Screw you."
"It wasn't a freak accident that killed your partner." Dean said with a smirk.
"What?"
"It was the rabbit's foot."
"You're crazy man."
Dean shook his head slightly, "You know I'm not, you saw what it did, all the flukes, all the luck. When you lose the foot that luck goes south, that's what killed your friend. My brother here is next, and who knows how many more innocent people after that. Now if you don't help us stop this thing, that puts those deaths on your head, and I can read people and I get it, you're a thief and a scum bag, that's fine, but you're not a killer. Are you?"
The man shook his head and gave them a name, "All she told us was Legosi, that's all I know."
When they got out of the apartment building, Dean's phone rang, "Hello?"
Aubri stood next to Dean while he talked to Bobby, glancing over her shoulder occasionally to make sure the ground hadn't opened up under Sam and rolling her eyes at Dean just a little when he called the thief/waitress hot. When he hung up, they both looked back at Sam who was standing still, looking really upset about something. "What?" Dean asked.
"I lost my shoe." He pouted, wiggling his toes.
Aubri laughed as Dean rolled his eyes and walked away. She walked over to Sam and hooked her good arm in his, "Come on Sammy," she said teasingly, "we'll fix this and get you some new shoes."

Bobby called back on the way back to the motel and gave them the information they needed to find Bella and Dean got off the phone with him just as they pulled in front of the motel. "Bobby's got it on pretty good authority that this Bella chick lives in Queens, so it'll take me about two hours to get there."
"So what are we doing here?" Sam asked.
"You and Aubs are staying here. She's hurt and I don't want your bad luck getting us killed."
Folsom greeted them at the door and Aubri let him out while Dean gathered what he needed. She watched as Folsom ran to the grass and did his business before going over to the RV that was parked across the parking lot. Shivering slightly at the cold, she wrapped her arms around herself as she watched him investigating, hoping that he would come back over soon so she could go inside. When she heard the door shut, she turned to see Dean walking towards her. "Make sure he doesn't do something stupid."
She nodded, walking forward to meet him. Her hands went up and she gently grabbed the front of his jacket, "You make sure you don't do something stupid." She said softly, not looking at him so he wouldn't see that she was worried.
Dean grabbed her chin and made her look at him. He smiled slightly at the small frown of worry on her lips, "I'll be fine Aubs." He reassured her, placing a soft kiss on her lips. When he pulled away he was rewarded with a faint smile.
"Go on then, get outta here." Aubri said, giving him a playful shove on the chest as Folsom ran over. Dean climbed into the Impala and shot her a heart stopping smile and a wink before driving off and Aubri shook her head, "Come on Folsom, let's go make sure Sam doesn't get into any trouble."
When she walked into the room Sam looked up at her from the chair he was sitting in, "He put you on babysitting duty didn't he?"
Aubri flopped down on the bed with a smile, "No way, this is just a chance for me to hang out with my favorite Winchester."
~TFS~
They had gone two hours without any kind of life threatening incident and Aubri had fallen asleep. Sam didn't have the heart to wake her up after the long day she had had, what with getting shot and everything, so when the air conditioning gave out and started to smoke he wasn't sure what to do. Folsom jumped off the bed, grumbling as he sniffed around the machine. "Oh come on, I didn't do anything." He looked over at Aubri who still hadn't woken up before getting out of his chair and going to check on it.
Folsom started barking when the machine burst into flames and Sam grabbed the comforter off of the spare bed to try and put it out. Aubri sat up, rubbing her eyes, "What's going on?" She asked sleepily before her eyes landed on the flames. "Holy shit, Sam get away from there!" Jumping off the bed, she ran over and pushed Sam to the side just after he had succeeded in putting the flames out. She looked him up and down to make sure he was ok when his jacket sleeve caught on fire. "Sam!"
He tried desperately to put the fire on his arm out with the curtains while Aubri ran to get some water to dump on it. She heard a rip and a crash as she emerged from the bathroom and saw Sam lying on the floor, out cold. Folsom was still barking and when she looked up, she locked eyes with the two men lurking outside of the window, "Shit." She muttered, looking for anything she could use as a weapon.
The door opened slowly and Folsom continued to bark as the two men came in, baring his teeth at them as he backed up slowly to get closer to Aubri. The blonde haired man pointed a gun at her and nodded at Folsom, "Shut the dog up or I'll shoot him."
Aubri nodded, "Folsom, hush buddy, it'll be ok." Folsom quieted slightly, still showing his teeth, but no longer growling as fiercely.
"Good, now how about you put him somewhere where he can't cause any trouble, and then you can sit down in that chair right there while we deal with your friend." The blonde man said calmly.
As she put Folsom in the bathroom, Aubri grabbed the soap dish off of the counter. She didn't think the little plastic dish would do any real damage if she used it; it just made her feel better to have something solid to hold onto. She walked back into the main part of the room to see that the two men were putting Sam into a chair with some difficulty and she clasped her hands behind her back, holding tightly to the soap dish. "Who are you?" She asked shakily over the sounds of Folsom's whines coming from the bathroom.
The man who had spoken to her before looked up briefly, "Sit in that chair." Was all he said to her.
"What do you want with us?" She asked, a little more forcefully this time.
He looked up at her again, this time taking note of the fact that her hands were behind her back, "Now what might you have there?" he asked, walking closer to her.
Aubri instinctively took a step back, narrowing her eyes at the advancing man. What was she supposed to do now? Her eyes flicked from the man to Sam sitting unconscious in the chair he had been put in then back to the man who was closer now. Dean would be so mad if she let something happen to his brother, she had to try something. Adjusting her grip on the soap dish she looked the man who was coming at her dead in the eye and as she focused everything around her seemed to fade slightly and she couldn't hear anything but the beating of her own heart as she let out a breath and threw the soap dish with surprising accuracy.
It bounced off of the man's temple, causing him to stagger back, hand going quickly to his head. He stood for a moment, dazed as he took note of the small smear of blood on his hand, and that momentary lapse of focus gave Aubri the chance to lunge forward. Keep your thumb outside of your fist or else you could end up breaking it, Dean's voice echoed in her head from one of the many lessons he had given her in protecting herself. Her fist connected with the man's cheekbone, just shy of his nose where she had really been aiming the hit and he staggered back again, surprised by the sudden attack.
He wasn't surprised for long though. Recovering quickly, he swung at Aubri, narrowly missing her as she ducked quickly. They circled each other, Aubri putting herself between the man and Sam. She had been so caught up in what was happening with the blonde man that she had forgotten about his friend. Always know exactly what's going on around you Blondie, always pay attention, Dean's voice echoed yet again as something heavy connected with the back of her skull and everything faded to black.
~TFS~
The sound of duct tape woke Sam up. He lifted his head groggily to see the shorter dark haired man wrapping the tape around Aubri to secure her to a chair. "Aubs? Aubri wake up." He said as he struggled against the duct tape holding him to the chair.
"Oh, he's awake!" The shorter man said as Sam looked around.
A blonde man stood up off of the bed and crossed over to Sam, "Back with us huh?"
"Yeah, we didn't even have to touch you. You just went all spastic and knocked yourself out." The shorter man explained, "It was like watching Jerry Lewis try to stack chairs. Your lady friend was a different story. Had to conk her one on the back of the head to get her to calm down."
"Who are you? What do you want?" Sam asked confusedly, stopping when the blonde man snapped his fingers.
"I used to think your friend Gordon sent me." He began.
Sam rolled his eyes, "Gordon? Oh come on."
"He asked me to track you down, and put a bullet in your brain."
"Great, that sounds like him."
"But, as it turns out, I'm on a mission from God." He backhanded Sam across the face, knocking his head back.
Aubri had come to just in time to hear the "mission from God" statement and snorted quietly. She winced when she saw the man hit Sam, "Really, a mission from God?"
He stalked over to her and glared at her as the darker haired man went and got a glass of water, "Do you doubt me?"
"Yeah, I seriously doubt that God sent you on a mission to kill Sam Winchester." She was rewarded with a back-handed slap across the face and tears sprung to her eyes as she felt a ring tear into the skin of her cheek. "I'm not so sure God would like you beating up on a girl, or you know, killing people. It does kind of go against the whole 'Thou shall not kill' thing he has going on." After another slap, Aubri decided to keep her mouth shut, at least until her eyes quit watering from the pain on her cheek and the ringing in her head.
She watched as they threw a glass of water in Sam's face and woke him up. "You were a part of that demon plan to open the gate weren't you?" The blonde man accused turning his attention to Sam.
"We did everything we could to stop it."
"Lie, lie, lie. You were in on it. You know what they're next move is too don't you?"
"No, I don't ok, you're wrong about all of this."
"Where are they gonna hit us next?" He asked, obviously not believing Sam. When Sam didn't respond he crossed over to Aubri and grabbed her by the hair, yanking her head back. She gasped in pain as the muscles in her neck protested, "Gordon didn't say anything about a girl when he told me about you and your brother, so I'm guessing she isn't important. Tell me what I want to know." He jerked on Aubri's hair again. "He may not have told me about her, but he told me about your powers Sam. You're some kind of weirdo, psychic freak."
"No, not anymore. No powers, no visions, nothing." Sam tried to reason. The man hit Aubri and Sam winced as he saw tears slip from her eyes as they started to droop, "Come on, leave her alone."
"No more lies then." He said, leaving Aubri's side and getting in Sam's face. "There's an army of demons out there pushing at a world already on the brink. We're on deck for the endgame here right? So maybe, just maybe you can understand why we can't take chances." He pulled a gun out and pointed it at Sam.
Aubri was struggling to stay conscious, a girl could only take so many blows to the head in such a short amount of time, when Sam started to protest having a gun in his face, "Woah, no, ok, ok."
She laughed quietly, keeping her eyes closed because her lids were just too heavy at the moment, "Dean'll kill you guys." She whispered. She could hear a scuffle and the guy with the gun was reasoning with his friend while Sam tried to explain everything. The man with the gun was crazy, thinking that he was on a divine mission from God to kill Sam.
The last thing she heard was Dean's voice, "Nope, not destiny, just a rabbit's foot." A sense of relief flooded her at knowing he was here and she slowly slipped out of consciousness.
~TFS~
After making quick work of the two men, Dean cut through the duct tape keeping Sam to the chair and then hurried to Aubri's side. He cut through her restraints and then shook her gently, "Aubs, wake up."
"They hit her a lot Dean." Sam explained, feeling guilty that Aubri had been hurt because of him.
A howl echoed from the bathroom as Folsom scratched at the door, begging to be let out. "Get the mutt out of there and shut him up Sammy." Dean said gruffly, not taking his eyes of Aubri. "Come on Aubs, wake up sweetheart." He smiled as he saw her eyelids begin to flutter, "That's it, show me those baby blues." He said softly when her eyes opened the rest of the way and slowly came to focus on his face.
"Hey," she said softly, "did you get the foot?"
He nodded and leaned forward to press a kiss to her forehead, "Yeah I got it. Now let's get outta here and get rid of this thing."
~TFS~
Once they were in the graveyard, Sam set to getting everything set for getting rid of the foot and Aubri leaned heavily against Dean while he finished scratching off the last of the scratch off tickets he had picked up. "Dean." Sam said impatiently.
"Back off jinx, bringing home the bacon." Once he finished scratching the last ticket he turned to go put them in his jacket pocket, but not before Aubri reached out and snagged one. "Hey!" He protested.
"For damages." She said teasingly, pointing at the cut on her face from where he had been hit.
He shook his head as she stuffed it in her pocket and then carefully stowed the remaining tickets in his jacket pocket before holding up the rabbit's foot. "Ok, say goodbye you wascaly wabbit."
A gun cocked behind them and Dean turned quickly, pulling Aubri behind him, as Bella spoke, "I think you'll find that belongs to me. Or you know, whatever." They all stared at each other for a moment before she spoke again, "Put the foot down honey."
"No," Dean said, turning completely to face her, making sure Aubri was tucked safely behind him, "You're not gonna shoot anybody, see I happen to be able to read people. Ok, you're a thief, fine, but you're not…" Dean's little speech was cut off when Bella shot directly behind him and Aubri and Sam let out a yell of pain. "Son of a…" He turned back around and started to walk towards Bella.
"Back off tiger, back off!" She yelled, and Aubri grabbed onto Dean's sleeve, trying to keep him closer to her. "You make one more move and I'll pull the trigger. You've got luck Dean, you I can't hit, but your brother, him I can't miss." Aubri glanced over her shoulder at Sam, eyes wide with worry when she saw the blood seeping from his shoulder between his fingers.
"What the hell is wrong with you?" Dean yelled, looking back at his brother and then back to Bella. "You don't just go around shooting people like that!"
"Relax, it's a shoulder hit, I can aim." Bella reasoned, "Besides, who here hasn't shot a few people."
Aubri raised her hand shakily, "Me! I sure as hell haven't shot anybody, ever!"
Bella rolled her eyes, "Trust me, in good time you will if you stay in this line of work. Now, put the rabbit's foot on the ground now."
"Alright! Alright, just take it easy." Dean said, putting his hands up. As he bent over to put the foot down, he stopped, "Think fast." He said quickly, tossing the foot at Bella, who caught it.
"Damn." She muttered, looking down at her hand.
"Now, what do you say we destroy that ugly ass piece of dead thing?"
Bella walked over with a sigh, tossing the rabbit's foot onto the burning coals, "Thanks very much. I'm out one and a half million and on the bad side of a very powerful, fairly psychotic buyer."
Aubri laughed as Dean let out a sigh, "Wow, I really don't feel bad about that. Sam?"
"Nope, not even a little." Sam said with a smirk, "How about you Aubs?"
Aubri just shook her head, "After the hell that thing has put us through? No fucking way."
Bella turned to leave, "Maybe next time, I'll hang you out to dry." She smirked, leaning on the headstone where Dean's jacket was.
"Oh don't go away angry, just go away." Dean said.
"Have a nice life." She said, finally walking away.

"Well, I guess we're back to normal," Dean said as they walked back to the Impala, "No good luck, no bad luck." He stopped suddenly, digging in his jacket pocket, "I forgot, we're up $46,000. I almost forgot about the scratch tickets…" He trailed off when he realized the tickets weren't in his pockets. They heard the honking of a horn as Bella drove off, taking the scratch tickets with her. "Son of a bitch!" Dean yelled.
Aubri reached into her pocket as she started to back away slowly, "Well, we do still have this." She said, waving the ticket she had snagged from Dean in the air.
He moved to snatch the ticket, but Aubri stepped back quickly, "Come on Aubs, I worked hard for that."
"Damages remember." She teased, pointing at the cut and bruises on her face and pouting slightly.
"Don't be like that sweetheart." Dean said, snaking an arm around her waist when he got close enough to her. "We could share."
Aubri pursed her lips, looking like she was giving that suggestion some thought. "Maybe Winchester, but only if you are very nice to me."
She gave him a crooked grin as he pulled her tighter against him, "Oh, I can be nice, I can be very, very nice."
He moved to press a kiss to her lips when Sam's voice interrupted them, "Guys, let's get moving, I'm bleeding over here."
Aubri pulled out of his arms giggling quietly, "You heard the man, let's get out of here." She called over her shoulder as she walked the rest of the way over to the Impala, leaving Dean behind her with a smile on his face.
So that was definitely the longest chapter I have ever written for anything, but I'm happy I finally got a chance to update. I just want to give you guys fair warning that it might be another long stretch before anymore updates because our first round of tests is coming up and I usually have at least one paper and one lab report due every week on top of weekly quizzes and whatnot. I hope you guys like the chapter and that I'm not getting Dean too out of character with the sweet stuff, it would be great to have your feedback on that! Also, this chapter wasn't beta-ed cause I wanted to go ahead and get it posted so all mistakes are completely on me. As always, review at will!
