The Darkest Light
Chapter 18
Stronger
Yami's head slammed against the ground for the umpteenth time that evening. "Damn it! Why can't I get it?!" He cursed, slamming his hand against the ground.
"Don't get so angry. In a fight you've got to keep your cool" Seto reminded him.
"It's so hard though. You said to picture my friends in danger and all I do is get angry because they really are in danger and I'm not strong enough to protect them yet!"
"You ARE strong enough, baka. You just need to learn to keep a level head. Don't let the enemy get under your skin or we're all in danger."
"Yeah, you make that sound easy."
Seto walked over behind him and gave him a punch to the back of the skull. "What the hell?!" Yami yelped, rubbing his, now sore, cranium.
"Will you listen to yourself?! You're giving up before you've even begun."
Yami looked at him wide eyed, blinking before looking down at the ground. A small smile kissed his lips before he looked back up, new found determination in his eyes. "Alright. Let's try again."
Yugi waved goodbye to the cashier at the grocery. His errands were now done and he was able to go home and relax for the rest of the day. He passed a gym on his way home and had to back up a few steps. His eyes went wide and if you were looking close enough you'd notice that his mouth was watering just a tiny bit. But with the caramel dipped sweet heart that was on the treadmill he couldn't help it.
Yami was running on the machine inside the gym, his shirt off, and Seto standing in front of him. From the looks of it Seto was barking orders and Yami had to obey them. Yugi hadn't realized that he had so many muscles hidden under his clothes.
'Wait a minute... I've seen him shirtless... There weren't that many muscles the last time' he thought, his eyes widening a little. Had Yami really been working that hard to protect them? Was he really more powerful than what he had been a few days ago?
A beeping noise alerted him to his cell phone going off. "Looks like Jii-chan needs help around the shop" he sighed, turning to look at Yami once again.
'The weirdest part is, he doesn't even know what he is... So how is he this powerful, but completely clueless of it?' The younger teen sighed as he shrugged his shoulders "Doesn't make any sense to me. Guess I better get stronger too." He couldn't help but shake his head and chuckle at the thought. "Yeah right. I'll always be weak. That's why I'm his light..."
Yugi flipped the sack over his shoulder as he began his walk home. The picture in his mind gave him something better than the scenery to enjoy along his walk. He'd have to lock that one away and keep it for later.
"O-Okay.. Seto... I'm done" Yami panted, wiping the sweat from his face with the cool towel.
"You ran three more laps than you did yesterday" Seto said, not praising him, but not exactly not praising him...
"I don't feel any different. I feel faster, I feel more flexible. I'm definately getting the hang of everything, but I feel like I'm missing a big part of it all. I feel like theres a chamber deep inside me and no matter what I'm never gonna get close enough to open it."
Seto's eyes widened a bit as he stared at the younger boy. He watched as Yami sat down on the bench and took a drink from his water bottle. "Yeah, I have a feeling you're going to keep that feeling for a while..."
Yami didn't react to his words. He could hear the anger that laced his older comerade's words. He was pissed that Yami didn't know, and he couldn't blame him, because he was too. "Not that it matters much, I mean it could be worse, right?"
Seto lowered his eyelids as he looked back up from the floor. "You realize everytime you say that, something bad happens..."
The younger blinked before looking up at him with a cheesy grin. "Good point... Oh well, no takes-ies backs-ies."
"Idiot. Let's go, you need to get home and shower. I can smell you from here."
"You're the one that had me running! Don't walk away and pretend like you can't hear me! Hey! Hey!" Yami continued his rant as he chased Seto down the sidewalk, the older doing nothing more than walking while the younger ran after him. "Get back here! I'm not done talking to you! Seto!"
Me: Okay, sorry about the short chapter, but (for those of you who have been following Kindred) It's my chapter so I have Kindred, my new story, this story, and CID to work on X3 *shot dead* Yup, I'm oober busy busy busy, so I apologize ahead of time if my chapters aren't the length you'd like them to be X3 I really hope that chapter was okay, it was just sort of a filler chapter anyway...
