The Darkest Light
Chapter 19
Missing
A month had passed and things were going great. Yami was off house arrest and still working to become stronger. Seto was a harsh teacher, but he knew that if Yami were to learn anything he'd need to be hard on him. He couldn't take it easy because the enemy never would. Yami was learning endurance, how to be quick but precise, and he was learning how to keep a level head even at the hardest of times.
They figured out that no matter how good Yami got though, it always took him two or three tries just to make something from the shadows. Whether it be a blade, an energy ball, or just simply to pull the shadows towards him. But, Yami was learning to compensate for it and get out of the way before he got hit. Even Seto was impressed by his speed, it was like he was disappearing into the shadows.
Yami was walking to school with his brother, chatting away about nothing in particular. He still hadn't told him he'd been training to become stronger. Instead he told him that he and Seto were just hanging out, talking, working out, and becoming best buddies. Luckily his brother hadn't questioned anything, but instead decided to accept it. Afterall, his little brother had gained a bunch of muscle... Even the girls at school were beginning to notice..
There hadn't been anymore robots to show up, which was weird. One day they were there, the next they were gone... Life went on as it should, Yami and Yugi had made up for the most part, Yugi was still kinda angry at him, but he was drawn back to Yami. Since Yami had been released from house arrest they'd been hanging out a lot more. Yugi was Yami's best friend, even closer than he and Marik. But, Yami thought of Yugi as more than just a friend. He had a hunch Yugi thought the same about him too, but he didn't bring it up, simply because he didn't want to mess up their friendship if he was wrong.
Yami looked back and forth once they entered the school. "That's weird" he said as he glanced around.
"That our friends aren't in the spot they usually are?" Bakura asked, doing the same thing as Yami.
"Yeah. I know we're not late. If anything we're a minute early."
"Yami..." Bakura said, jerking his head to look at his brother.
"Yeah, I sense it too. Let's find the others."
The two of them split up, Bakura taking the right half of the school while Yami took the left. They searched down the halls, around the cafeteria, in all their friends' first period classrooms, but nothing. They met up again at the entrance, a look of panic beginning to show. "This is bad" Bakura panted, tired from running around.
"Lets go check the game shop, maybe they stayed home" Yami said, hope was there, but something in his gut told him they wouldn't find them at home.
"Mr. Kadai!" Yami called, entering the shop that had been left unlocked. "Yugi? Ryou?"
"Hello? Is anybody home?" Bakura shouted next to him.
Yami suddenly clenched his chest, gasping as a pain shot through his whole body. Bakura was at his side in an instant, his eyes going wide. "Yami? Yami, what is it?"
Yami clenched his eyes closed, the pain making his body tingle all over the place. His eyes shot open when a bright light started coming towards him. As his eyes opened he saw an old abandoned warehouse. For some reason he was being dragged there. But.. he was still sitting in the same spot..
He was suddenly thrown in a room where he could hear others shouting empty threats. He made out the voices of Marik, Malik, Seto, Joey, Mr. Kadai, his mom and dad, and Ryou. But.. How..?
Yami blinked and the vision was gone, he was back in the game shop. "I know where they are, but let's head home first. There's something I need to know."
Bakura opened his mouth to speak but it was too late. He had blinked and Yami was already out the door. "Damn, he's fast.."
Bakura ran into the opened door, Yami having left it opened on his way in. He ran around the house like a chicken with its head cut off. He looked in all the places he thought his brother would be but didn't find him in any of them.
"Yami!" He called after exhausting himself to the point that he was annoyed.
"In here" his brother's muffled voice came from their parents room.
"Yami, what the hell are you doing in here. Mom and dad said we weren't allowed in here."
"Yeah, and this is why" Yami almost growled from the closet.
Bakura walked over to where the closet light barely shown in the dark room. In front of his brother sat a box full of things he'd never seen before, however their names were on the top. "Wh.. What is that?"
"I dunno, but it belongs to us whatever it is" Yami sighed, pulling out a book that was sealed shut with a string. He quickly unwound the string and began reading it aloud to his brother. It explained everything about them, about their darkness, their duties, and even who to go to for help.
"K-Kura... We're... We're not even really brothers..."
"Tch" Bakura scoffed, making Yami look at him with wide eyes. "That's what you're worried about? We're in danger and our family and friends are probably in the hands of this danger. You idiot, how many times do I have to tell you that we're brothers no matter what."
Bakura held out his hand, helping his brother stand off the ground. "Now grab your shit. We're going to save everyone."
Yami smiled with new found determination. With a nod of his head he grabbed a bag that had a few things that would be useful to them in rescuing their friends and family.
"Right" he said, not bothering look back because he could feel the shadows following him. They would continue to follow him, because he was the Yamino Prince. He would go as far as he needed to, push himself to his limits and even beyond that point, as long as he was able to keep his promise to Yugi.
'I promise Yugi, I'm coming. Just hang in there a bit longer... My beautiful Hikari...'
Me: WHOOP! THATS THE END! XD Next chapter! Yami and Bakura's brilliant rescue plan! And... They're gonna be in sooo much trouble... XD lol ^w^ Stick around and find out! Until next time everyone! *waves* Goodbye!
