Hi Guys!

I'm really sorry for the extremely long wait. This school year is hella busy. I'm surprised I survived through finals this week, but I did way better than I thought I would. Thank goodness, I thought I was going to die.

I want to apologize for last chapter. It was rushed and sloppy and ugh, I didn't want to reread it before writing this chapter. I promise when I have the chance I'll redo it and make it smoother.

Thanks for sticking with this story! It means a lot to me.

XOXO

Everything Changes: Chapter 8

TT

Richard and Kori walked into class about ten minutes late. Every head turned to the door as the handle rattled. There were quite a few people staring as the two walked in. Richard had his arm around a puffy eyed and tear stained Kori. Ms. Ivy cleared her throat in an attempt to restore order to her classroom to no avail.

Richard guided Kori around the back of the classroom and to their table group. Richard pulled out her chair for her and Gar gave her a large grin. Victor nodded to her and Rachel reached for Kori's hand and offered her a small smile of her own. Kori gave them all a watery smile as thanks and turned to Ms. Ivy, trying to remove the focus off of herself and onto the teacher.

Eventually the class calmed down and returned their attention to Ms. Ivy. When everyone had stopped staring at Kori, she let out a breath she'd been holding. Rachel squeezed Kori's hand and leaned across the table, "Hey, we're all getting together tomorrow night at Richard's for a movie night and co-ed sleepover thing. And well, we were wondering if you wanted to join us. Just a small get together, the five of us and Karen."

Kori bit her lip and her eyes watered with gratitude. She was grateful her friends weren't babying or pitying her. They weren't apologizing because they knew there was nothing they could do about it but be there for her either. "I'd like that," she nodded.

After class Barbra approached Richard and Kori. "Hey Kori, I'm sorry about your sister. I know what it is like to lose someone. My goldfish died six years ago."

"My brother," Kori corrected. Barbra waved her hand and dismissed the correction. "Well, I've got to get to class. I'll see you later Dick. Will you miss me?" Barbra asked sidling up between Richard and Kori, swaying her hips.

Richard frowned down at her, "Uh, sure?" Barbra grabbed Richard by the neck and pulled his lips down to meet hers roughly. Kori furrowed her brow and looked away to give them some privacy. She continued repacking her backpack. Barbra finally broke the kiss and looked right at Kori as she wiped her lips with her hand and smirked. "Toodles!"

The rest of the day passed without incident. Except the one time Kori encountered Roy and Jade together in the halls, but Kori held her head high and ignored them. That cheating scum didn't deserve her time or energy.

Kori's friends kept up a constant guard. Kori never walked alone in the halls or anywhere really. She wasn't even allowed to go to the bathroom. Of course, she's thankful for their concern, but she just really needs alone time occasionally.

The next day was alright. It was tough, getting up in the morning but everything turned out alright. Garfield insisted all day that she come to their get together that night. Everyone did really, but Gar was the most persistent.

Somehow Barbra found out about the 'party' and showed up out of the blue. Things got really awkward after that, especially when it came time to choose the movie. "Why don't we let Kori choose the movie tonight?" Karen offered after everyone had laid out their sleeping bags and grabbed a ton of blankets.

"I should get to choose the movie. It is my first time hanging out with you guys," Barbra simpered.

"Kori is going to choose the movie," Victor interjected before she could come up with some other ludicrous idea on why she should choose the movie. Barbra sniffed.

Kori stood and padded over to Richard's DVD library. "How about the Avengers?" Kori offered, pulling the DVD case off the shelf and bringing it to Richard who was waiting for her by the DVD player.

"Sure, whatever you want Kori," Richard grinned.

"Ugh, I hate that movie." Barbra protested. Kori's smile faltered with her confidence. She turned back to the shelf to choose another movie, but Richard took the DVD from her and gave her a comforting grin.

Rachel glared at Barbra with disgust, "If you don't want to watch it, you can leave."

"I'm fine, thanks," Barbra sneered.

The movie passed and ended with almost everyone asleep. Barbra was lying in her sleeping bag, snoring unflatteringly. Victor and Karen were curled together on the floor. Gar's head was in Rachel's lap, who was leaned against the wall petting his hair absentmindedly.

Kori yawned and Richard chuckled at her. "Tired?" he asked. Kori only nodded and climbed into her sleeping bag. "Did you have fun?" Kori nodded again, but was already almost asleep. Richard leaned over and pressed a soft kiss to her forehead. "Sleep tight, Kori."

Rachel looked over and smirked at him. "So…"

"Don't even say it," he tried to threaten, but couldn't stop the smile spreading across his face.

Barbra causing trouble again. I'm thinking of adding Artemis and Kid Flash in as just some background noise cause I love them so much. Let me know what you think!
