Through The Darkness ch. 8
Naruto's P.O.V.
I hitched a ride with Gaara to a local pizza joint to eat pizza with the rest of team after practice. I never thought that I would be this hungry after one practice but I'm starving. It feels like my stomach is eating itself because there's no food in it and it's grumbling for it. Gaara must have heard it because he chuckling a little.
"Don't laugh at me, I'm starving here" I said pouting like a 5 year old.
"I'm sorry Naruto but I know the feeling. The whole team knows that feeling all too well since we had to go through what you did the last 2 days" Gaara said smiling a little.
"Really? And here I thought I was special" I said chuckling a little.
"Don't get cocky, kid. You're good but you're not that good" Gaara said smirking.
I stick my tongue out at him and folded my arms. Well, I think I'm a good player and Gaara just laughs at me again. Why is he always laughing at me? I'm not that funny… am I? We pulled into the parking lot of the pizza and we walk through the front door. It was a fairly decent sized place with a kitchen in the back with a hole so you seen the guy in the back , making the pizza.
There was several old arcade games in the corner. I see that the rest of the team was always here, talking about something that I couldn't hear. Gaara and I walked towards them and slide in one side of the booth.
"Hey Whiskers, you made it" Sai said seductively.
I laugh nervously and scratches my cheek. This guy is really making me uncomfortable. Why is it that I get on, there's one guy that hits on me? Why do I always attract the perverts?
"Sai, stop it. Obliviously he isn't uncomfortable with you trying to hit on me" Gaara said frowning at Sai.
"Don't worry Naruto; Sai hits on everything with a pulse" Kankuro said shaking his head.
"Hey! No, I don't!" Sai yelled glaring Kankuro.
"Oh please, yes you do. Last year, it was me and the year before that it was Lee" Kankuro said frowning.
"Well, excuse me for wanting a sex life" Sai said pouting.
"Is he always like this?" I asked Gaara.
"Yup and you learn to deal with it but you might not wanna turn your back on him" Gaara said whispering.
I nodded as an extra large pepperoni was set in the middle of the table. I quickly grabbed my first three slices of pizza and stuffed one of them in my mouth. I love pizza almost as much as I love ramen. Almost. I make quick work of my other two slices before grabbing another two slices.
"Man, this kid can eat" Kankuro said laughing.
I don't care what Kankuro had said about me.I just care putting more pizza in my stomach.
"Hehe slow down Naruto, there's more coming" Gaara said smiling at me.
I slowed down my chewing but I'm growing man. I need a lot of food to regain my strength for practice and be ready for whatever Anko throws at me. I liked hanging out with the guys because they're so down to earth and easy to crack jokes on. I smiled a little because these guys are making me like I'm part of the team and I'm grateful. I hope that I make it so I can have more moments like these in the future."
Naruto?"
I turn to see Sasuke not too far away from me. What was he doing here? I haven't see him since that time at his place.
"Sasuke-kun, long time no see. What are you doing here?" I asked curious.
"I came here to get something to eat. What about you?" He asked raising an eyebrow at me.
"The same thing except with some of the guys from practice. I might get recruited for the Pirates" I said grinning like an idiot.
"Good for you. I'll let you get back to your friends" Sasuke said about to leave.
I grabbed his wrist and he looks at me in confusion.
"You could always stay here and join us" I said hopeful.
I wanted him to stay. It looks like he was debating with himself if he should or not.
"No, that's okay. I have stuff to do but you should have fun" Sasuke said walking away.
"Guys, I'll see you later. I'm gonna hang out with a friend" I said walking away.
"Remember to show up for practice tomorrow" Gaara said.
"Okay I will" I said going after Sasuke.
