Hello! SOOOO SORRY! Again I feel soo bad about not updating in YEARS! But during the week, whenever I try to update or edit the chapters I'm working on, I never really got around to do my homework... But in the mornings, we have 20 minutes to sit in the gyn and wait for the bell to ring. So I usually do my homework there. But I only finish half of it which brought my grade so from a 100 or 98 to an 80 or 75. So I'll be updating my stories every weekend from now on. I'll be tweaking and editing my chapters during the week whenever I have time, but it'll mostly be on the weekend.
Tris
"Hey, we should all give each other nicknames!" Christina squeals.
By now, I have my music turned off and my headphones put away into my sweatshirt's pocket.
Christina, Marlene and Shauna all squeal in agreement. Lynn and I just nod along.
"Okay, let's start with Beatrice." Shauna says.
"Mmm... How about Trissy?" Marlene suggests.
We all shake our heads.
"How 'bout Four Eyes?" Marlene waggles her eyebrows.
Before I can say anything, Christina opens her mouth.
"Speaking of which, have you guys heard about Four and Zoe?" Christina asks as she takes a sharp turn.
"No. What's happening?" Marlene asks.
"Well, I heard that Four is 'going out' with Zoe." Christina says, rolling her eyes.
Something in my stomach twists and clenches. But I don't necessarily know why.
"Out of all-of-the girls, he had to pick Zoe?" Shauna asks as she turns away from the window.
"Yup. And he's living with her." Christina says.
"For how long?" I finally manage to say.
"Two freaking months. And he never told us! Some friend he is." Christina mutters. She takes another sharp turn.
"I know right! We haven't hung out together since we took that camping trip to Coral Cove." Marlene says, using her hat to block the beams of light, shining through the window that burns us. And Christina's black leather car seats don't really help the situation.
"That was one hell of a trip." Lynn says, shaking her head.
"Y'know, I haven't really heard from Uriah or Zeke in a while." I mutter.
"Don't get me started on them." Christina says.
"The boys don't really hang out with us anymore. Except for Will." Lynn says.
Everybody remains silent. I guess the guys are becoming a sore subject to talk about. I mean, everything practically fell apart ever since Zoe 'found' us, and Uriah's 'dream'. Or ever since she 'found' Four. It's like she's the cause for all of this chaos. But what if she is?
"So, what are we going to do at the mall?" I ask.
"Oh! We're gonna go to the Buzz." Christina smiles.
"Wait a minute, didn't Will get a job at Buzz?" Marlene asks.
I grin along with the others as Christina blushes.
"No, no, it's not Will! That guy... Umm... What's his face?" Christina mutters under her breath.
She snaps, or rather tries to snap for as her hands are on the wheel. "Mark! That's his face. Mark works at Buzz!" Christina sings.
I roll my eyes. "We're just friends. That's all,"
"Uh-huh. Yeah, right." Shauna mumbles.
We finally arrive at the mall. Christina parks her car in an empty space. We all get out of the car to turn and see the big, glassy modern day look of the mall. Precisely, The Pit.
"Do we have to go to The Pit? I mean, there so many other juice bars that have lots of cute guys." Marlene whines.
"That's all..." Christina counts on her fingers, mumbling random numbers. "Seventy-five percent true but Will–" She cuts herself off by 'coughing'.
She clears her throat. "I mean, Mark works here."
I roll my eyes. "I don't like him. I–"
"You like Four?" Marlene asks.
I furrow my brows and furiously shake my head. "No, why would I? He's just some bipolar jacka–"
"Tris, you can't pretend. So stop pretending." Christina says. "But we can help you move on if you stop pretending."
I roll my eyes. "Whatever,"
"So how long is it gonna take until you can get new contacts? Because those glasses. Uh-uh. No honey. It's just not my thing." Christina shakes her head.
"Her glasses look cute. What wrong with them?" Marlene asks.
"They make her eyes look–"
"Enough girls," I say, cutting them off. "If I like it. I wear it. So if I'm wearing it, then I like it,"
Christina sighs. "I'm just trying to save your–" She stops. Pursing her lips, trying to find a word to describe or call my 'problem'. "Your thing." She makes a hand motion pointing to my face.
"Is that some nice way of saying I'm ugly?" I tease, but still trying to pull off the offended look.
"What!?" She squeaks as I pull open the door of the mall. "No, no. You're really, really pretty! With your Australian accent, your long blonde hair, your sense of fashion. It's just that I detest those glasses. Actually, I detest all reading glasses." She says shaking her head.
I laugh. "I know you do. That's why I wear 'em."
We all laugh and joke around some more. And honestly, I've never felt so alive and free. I mean, I have before when I first grew a tail but this– this is different. Laughing until you can no longer breathe with your best friends is the best feeling. Well, it's somewhere up there with gliding through the water with dolphins but still.
As we walk through the mall, Christina abruptly comes to a halt. Causing the girls and I to almost fall.
"Oh. My. God. Girls, there's a sale at Forever 21! All shoes, bags and tops are 50% off!" Christina squeals.
"Ahem," Shauna clears her throat as she points to to the Buzz where a shaggy blonde haired boy is 'cleaning' the windows. That's when I notice that the boy is Will. He turns to two other boys. One with curly brown hair and another with chocolate brown hair. Uriah and Mark. Oh lord, I forgot that Uriah works here too.
Will catches the sight of us– or Christina, and waves. Uriah and Mark turn, and well their expression are priceless. Mark looks directly towards me, freezing as he drops a card. He sheepishly blushes as he scrambles to pick it up. Uriah's face on the other hand, twists with expressions from anger, guilt and embarrassment. Well, anger towards the girls and I and guilts towards Marlene.
We– Christina, strides toward the boys while the girls and I reluctantly follow her. We push through crowds before finally reaching the Buzz.
"Hey guys!" She greets cheerfully.
Lynn stuffs her hands into her pockets, adverting her eyes from Uriah. Marlene finds that her shoes and frilly dress are far more interesting than the boys. While Shauna and I just stand there, impatiently.
"I just remembered that I left the cool room door open." Uriah mumbles. With that, he stomps into the juice bar.
Will furrows his brows as he shares a look of confusion with Christina. Mark shakes his head, murmuring, 'that's just Uriah,'. Marlene just bows her head in shame as Lynn whistles awkwardly.
I scoff, seeing that no one is gonna go after him. I run after him, fed up with all of this drama. I shove person after person until I finally see him.
"Uriah, stop it now!"
"Stop what?" He asks as he opens the cool room door.
I manage to slip in and close the door. The cold nips at my exposed skin. Uriah, unfazed by the cold, grabs a frozen box of fruit and moves it over to the next shelf. Frost blankets the grey walls of the small room.
"Stop all of this shit. You're being... You're being a Pansycake!"
He turns around to look at me. His brows raised so high, they almost disappear in his hairline.
"Me? Being a Pansycake? You're the one being a Pansycake! You're always telling others to face their fears, stand up for themselves when you won't face your own fear!" He snaps.
His words sting. Like a wasp, picking at you multiple times. Although, they're true. Usually Uriah would know when he crossed the line, but this time, he doesn't notice. For as anger clouds his mind.
"Uriah–"
"Face your goddamn fear!" He says stubbornly.
He reaches for a box on one of the bottom shelves. He pulls out a water bottle. Before I could stop him, or even protest against him, he quickly twists the top open before thrusting the bottle at me. The water splashes against my skin as my eyes widen.
"Uriah!" I screech. My glasses fall on to the ice cold floor as I bump into a rack. My vision blurs. Why didn't I wear contacts!?
I reach for what looks like a rag and scrape it against my arms and legs.
"There, wasn't that easy?" He asks, laughing bitterly.
I could feel my legs turn to jello. Something bubbles inside of me. My body begins to glow as Uriah's sneer slowly fades. I drop the rag. I squeeze my eyes shut in anger. I just had to follow him.
"What the hell?"
So... This isn't my best, but at least it's a chapter. I apologize for any mistakes. I just wanted to give you guys some thing to read. I'll edit my chapters for any mistakes and the next chapter should be here next weekend or Friday because my sister is here! I'm sooo happy! I haven't seen her in eight months! We're about to go out and just catch up so yeah. Maybe the next chapter will be up on Saturday because my relatives are gonna steal my sister to 'party'. -_- And I don't think I'm gonna go so yay for you guys! ;D Also, I'm aware that there is a story similar to Secrets... Well, I can't say similar... But whatever...
Have a great day/morning/evening/night!
