"So where's the girl Sesshomaru?" Inuyasha asked but was not acknowledge.

"Shall I go get her Lord Sesshomaru?" Rin piped up.

"There will be no need."

"But-"

"Quiet Rin, Sesshomaru's word is final."

"I'm here!" She ran in, hair still damp.

"I said don't be late."

"Well excuse me for getting lost in that maze you call a garden." Kagome turned her back to them so they could not see her embarrassment.

"Don't be childish."

"Excuse me!" Now she was just mad, but she got quiet when she saw some one looking at her. His eyes gold like Sesshomaru's, and his hair the same silver. But he did not have a markings and his facial features were soft and warm. A stark contrast to Sesshomaru. As they held each others gaze he took note of her pale skin and dark chocolate eyes.

"Kagome, Inuyasha, Inuyasha, Kagome." Sesshomaru introduced them.

"Hi." They said at the same time.

"Now if you don't mind, can we eat?"

"Uh right." Kagome took a seat next to Inuyasha who could not help but look at her through the corner of his eye.

"So what brings you hear so early?" Sesshomaru questioned

"Extra vacation." Inuyasha answered. "When will mom and dad be here?"

"Izaiyo and father will be here within a week or so."

"Your family is coming?" Kagome asked.

"Yes." Most of dinner was quiet and awkward with Sesshomau's one word answers. Kagome wonder why she was being forced to endure it. After dinner Inuyasha, Kagome, and Sesshomaru went up to his office to begin working.

"So the last time you saw your father was in a hotel?"

"Yes, he told my mother and I to meet him there. That's when he told us he was leaving. It was amazing he even told us, we always thought he would just up and leave."

"What is his name?" Inuyasha asked writing down the information.

"Seriously?" Kagome's expression went dry. "Our family's have been in cold war for how long? Don't waste my time."

"Okay." Inuyasha moved to the next question. "So he actually told you he was leaving, but that was out of the ordinary." he wrote something else down. "Did he have car? Maybe a licence plate to track him by?"

"Do you think a man like him would be that careless if he was trying to disappear?" She crossed her arms.

"That is the reason I am trying to find him." Sesshomaru answered. "A man like him, with his power and connections does not disappear with out reason." He rubbed the brim of his nose. "That will be all." They both looked at Sesshomaru "You may go home Kagome."

Kagome nodded her head "Okay."

"Do you need an escort?" She couldn't be sure but she thought he was mocking her.

"No!" She snapped.

"Then don't get lost."

"Sesshomaru," Inuyasha growled as Kagome left. "You can be a real ass you know that?"

Kagome walked through the garden in a daze. She often wondered to herself how her mother could love a man like her father. How did she manage to get herself dragged into this mafia life? When her mom died Kagome did all she could- shy of moving states, to keep Sota from this life.

"Kagome!" She turned around to see Inuyaha running to catch up. "Hey!" She glared at him. "What, what is it?"

"Did Sesshomaru put you up to this?"

"No, honest I came to apologize." She gave him a 'you may continue' look. "I saw the look on your face when I asked you that last question."

"It's okay, I knew what I was getting myself into when I excepted to do this. Besides I have my reasons as well." Kagome and Inuyasha continued to talk. "Truth be told I have thought about that. How a man like him just doesn't disappear, but I figure if it meant my little brother wouldn't have to grow up the way I did I wasn't going to go looking for the answers."

"So how did you and my brother meet?" He tried to change the topic.

"In a alley." Kagome laughed as they approached the steps of her house.

"Odd." Inuyasha laughed.

"Given the circumstances yeah it was pretty odd, but welcoming at the time." They were both laughing now. "Well thank you for walking me home."

"It was my pleasure." Inuyasha pulled a flower from behind his back and handed it to her, "A bit cheesy but-"

"No, I think it's sweet." Kagome smiled taking the flower. She twirled it in her fingers before closing her eyes to smell it. "Mm." she opened her eyes' "Are you sure you are Sesshomaru's brother?"

"Ah, only half." He smiled. Kagome couldn't help but grin as he kissed her on the cheek. "I must go. But I look forward to seeing you again."

"Bye." Kagome watched him go and when he was out of site she went inside and leaned against the door. She looked down at the flower and smiled. He seemed harmless.

"Do not get attached." Inuyasha turned around.

"Sesshomaru."

"I will tell you this one time only."

"So you plan on killing her when your finished?" Sesshomaru said nothing. "I won't let it happen."

"Don't get in my way little brother."

"Are you attached?" Inuyasha smirked.

"Me, and a human, that is ridicules."

"Is it really?"

"How about this, once this is over I will slice her throat while you watch?"
