The car ride to the hotel was less tense than the plan ride, but due to a time difference Kagome was a bit exhausted and it showed. She thought the better idea would be for her to rest before dinner. When they got to the hotel Sesshomaru sat her on a couch in the lobby and went to check in, but when it was taking him longer than it should have she decided to go see what the problem was, and she didn't like what she saw.

"If you call the front desk I'll be here all night, I'll make sure you are taken care of." Kagome walked in mid-conversation, but she saw all she needed. The way the woman slid him the card key, and the look in her eye said more than what Kagome needed to hear.

"I'm sure you will." Kagome took the card key before Sesshomaru could. "I am also sure that there isn't anything you can do for him that hasn't already been done." She said with a sweet smile as she pulled the key out of the paper sleeve- there was only one. "We will need two of these, if you don't mind." She may have been smiling, but even Sesshomaru was able to feel the vibe she was sending. So he decided to let her handle it.

Once they were in their suite Kagome flopped down on the bed. "This is so comfortable." She sighed. "When is dinner?"

"I would prefer dessert first." He crawled on top of her and laid kisses from her chest up to her lips.

"What are you doing?" She laughed.

"Let's just say I like the way you handled things down there."

"Oh really." She laughed under his touch, and as much as she enjoyed it she had to stop him. "I'm sorry, I just feel gross." She frowned.

"It's alright." He kissed her one more time, "I have some calls to make any way." He stood up and let her get in the shower. The shower was just the time she needed to get her mind right. She still couldn't believe she was having moments like this with him, it almost made her feel bad because in Inuyasha's head they were still together. She stood under the running water playing out different scenarios in her head of how she would deal with her father and tell Inuyasha about her and Sesshomaru. She felt bad that she would have to hurt him but the thought of being with Sesshomaru chased those feelings away rather quickly.

"You're taking too long." Sesshomaru's voice came from within the bath room.

"Sorry!" When she reached to turn off the water he stepped into the shower with her.

"You should stay and keep me company." He wrapped his arms around her and everything she was worried about washed away.

"I guess we have time." She gave in with a sigh and let him have his way.

When they finally got to the restaurant Inuyasha was already there. "What happened to always being on time?" He scoffed.

"Well excuse us!" Kagome stepped around Sesshomaru stopping Inuyasha in his tracks.

"Kagome, what are you doing here?" When he leaned in for a kiss her first reaction was to pull away, but then she remembered that they had to keep up this act until this was all over so she kissed him back.

"Not important." She did however sit on the same side of the table as Sesshomaru and they could both tell that got under Inuyasha's skin.

"So what's with the surprise visit?"

"How about you tell us what your doing here." Kagome decided she was going to take charge of this meeting and Sesshomaru was more than happy to let her do so. "And before you lie to me again, you should know that I know everything detective." In a moment of anger she tore the necklace from her neck and slid it across the table to him.

He sighed picking it up, "When you first came we were trying earn your trust, if you knew I was a cop would you really have talked to me?" He did have a point. "And as for the deal between our parents that has nothing to do with our relationship. I came out here to figure him out and get you out from under his shadow." He looked her dead in the eye and with every ounce of her being she wanted to believe him. But she couldn't.

"Where were you when we were in the ware house getting Izaiyo back?" Kagome bluntly followed. The look in her eyes' alone was enough to make Inuyasha squirm. Out of the corner of his eye Sesshomaru noted the subtle change in her presence. It was menacing, not like when she put the receptionist in her place but more like when she had killed Bankostu. It was like a switch within her and he didn't know if she had control of it or if it was a self operating reaction from her training.

"What do you mean where was I? I was there with you."

"Your lying. I only saw you twice, before we went in and when everything was done and over."

"I was around looking for clues. If your father was there he had to leave something behind! So did you two come here to interrogate me...together?" She didn't have a comeback so Sesshomaru took it as his moment to step in.

"As I told you, I can't have you doing my dirty work. And when she found out what was really going on telling her she could not come wasn't exactly in the question."

"You've never cared before." Inuyasha narrowed his gaze. "You must be getting soft."

"So you would have me stay in New York just waiting?" It was really just rhetorical to get him off Sesshomaru's back. She couldn't but notice they made a pretty good tag team.

"Kagome, can we leave?" Neither was ready for this question "Or do I have to get permission from you to spend time with my girlfriend." He glared at Sesshomaru, but it was really putting Kagome on the spot.

"Do as you please, I'll be in the car." He looked at her and she nodded her head.

Kagome and Inuyasha walked outside while Sesshomaru paid the bill. "Look," Inuyasha sighed leaning on a wooden railing and looking down at the water. "I'm sorry I didn't tell you."

"Which part?" Kagome snapped.

"All of it. It's just the whole thing with Sesshomaru's mother, I didn't know how to tell you that it was your father. I thought the less you knew the better, so if I could come out here and take care of him you wouldn't have to know. And as for their deal," He looked at the necklace in his hand "I didn't want you to think that I was only with you because of that." He closed the space between them and cupped the side of her face. "I really do love you Kagome."

"Inuyasha," She took his hand from her face.

"Look I understand if you're not ready to say it back. If I was in your shoes I don't think I would be either." He took her hand and put the necklace in it. "But I still want you to take this." He looked at his watch. "Look I have to go. Just think about it, please." Before she could say anything he planted a passionate kiss on her lips and left.

She felt bad because she knew Sesshomaru was watching, but that was the extent of it. "So?" He asked when she got in the car.

"He has no idea we're on to him."
