"I'm sorry you had to see that." Kagome hesitated to even speak about what had happened.

"I understand." He refused to lie and say it was alright, but perhaps this was karma's way of getting back at him. He did steal his brother's girlfriend so watching her kiss the man she was technically in a relationship with while he was forced to keep quiet seemed like a fitting punishment.

"I want to believe him you know." He gave her a side glace. "I want to believe that what he's saying is true. That the Inuyasha I thought I knew is still there." She sighed inwardly.

"The Inuyasha that you fell for."

Kagome let that wash over her before looking up at him. "Really?" She fumed with anger, "You're really gonna do this?" He wouldn't even so much as look at her. She knew kissing Inuyasha and having to carry on like he was the the one she wanted to be with was bothering Sesshomaru, but she thought they were in agreement about what had to be done. "Pull over." She really wanted to just scream, but she knew she couldn't afford to get all worked up so she remained as calm as she could.

"What?" Sesshomaru looked around, the sun was setting and it was starting to get cold. "Why?"

"Just pull over!" Sesshomaru not being one for arguing decided to do as she said, even if she planned on walking back to the room he was sure she would come to her senses once she felt how cold it would get. He pulled into a beach parking lot and before he even had the car in park she was opening the door and getting out.

Slamming the car door shut she stormed down the beach. She couldn't believe him! If Inuyasha really is working with her father and he found out about her and Sesshomaru before they were able to convince him to come back, they would loose him forever! But then again, isn't he already lost? When he finds out about them it will drive them further apart than what they already are. She wrapped her arms around her self and just let the tears come, she unknowingly finished what her father started. She had destroyed an already fragile family and she couldn't even blame it on her father. It was her own blind selfishness that did it, maybe she wasn't that different from him.

"I'm sorry." Sesshomaru's voice came from behind her. "I shouldn't have said that." He wrapped his arms around her and let her cry into his chest. "I know what we talked about, but that doesn't make it any easier. I'm sure you know by now that I'm a bit selfish." Though she couldn't find the words to express to him how she felt what he said next proved she didn't need words for him to understand. "Kagome I know you are in a difficult position, and I also know that I alone am the person that put you there. But I want you to know how much it means to me that if the face of this you are still choosing to be with me. From the moment you came into my life the choice was never mine, and for the first time my world was completely dependent on some one else's decision." He looked down at her, "Thank you."

She hadn't realized it until then, but at that moment those last two words meant the world to her. He could have said he loved her and showered her with all sorts of affection and words of admiration, but that fact that he acknowledged the position he put her and was truly thankful made it seem worth it. "I still care for Inuyasha, you need to know that."

"I know," he brushed her tears away "that's just the person you are. But like I said, you chose me." He emphasized. "Come on." They walked down the beach until finding some rocks to sit on. She leaned her back to his chest as he wrapped his arms around her and they let the silence settle over them. She learned to enjoy these silent moments, there was a simplicity and feeling of comfort in them. She remembered Sango saying that she was naming all the the things that were keeping her away from him, but now she knew they were just things it took time to get used to.

"Sesshomaru, when you first met me what were some things you didn't like."

"You're attitude, stubbornness and lack of temper control." His lack of hesitation to answer made Kagome laugh. "But now I admire those about you. Your attitude makes everything about you more beautiful and that effects everything around you. Your stubbornness is your driving force through life, no one can tell you anything negative. And I think your temper is cute, when it's not directed at me of course." He thought about all those morning she woke up early and seemed to blame the world. "Kagome, promise me you'll make it back with us." They watched the sun finish it's decent from the sky and the darkness of the sky seemed to take over his mood. She felt him squeeze her tighter, "Earlier today I scheduled an appointment for your surgery so you have to promise me that you'll come back with me- alive."

There was nothing she could say that would comfort him, she knew because she could barley cope with the fact that at the age of twenty-two she could have a heart attack at any moment. "I promise." She whispered. "Maybe we should head back." They climbed down from the rocks and began walking back to the car. She could still feel the anxiety radiating off him so she decided he needed a distraction. With out warning she kicked water all over him.

"That was cold." He stood rigged as she took off running, but before getting to the car both were soaked from head to toe.

"Oh I'm so ready for a warm shower!" She laughed running into the room. She couldn't stop shivering since they left the beach.

"I like that idea." His received an eye roll.

He let her go first so while he was in the shower she decided to enjoy some tea on the balcony. She wrapped her robe around her and stepped outside to a beautiful view. The moon was high in the sky, but it was so full and bright that it sent sparkling white gleams skipping over the oceans dark horizon. Despite there reason for being in California she couldn't help but be happy. Looking at the stars she could see her mother's face, what she wouldn't give to have her here. To ask her advice on everything going on, to be able to introduce her to Sesshomaru and show her that Sota was being taken care of. "I'm happy mom." She let a few tears slip from her eyes.

"And she can see that." She didn't know for how long, but he had obviously been watching her. She wiped the tears from her cheeks.

"I know." She smiled at the swelling in her chest from the very site of him, but seeing him wasn't enough. Needing to feel him she wrapped her arms around his neck and kissed him like he had been gone for days. She held such an intense hunger for him, it was like a fire burning from the inside and she wondered if it would ever die down. She wondered if there would ever come a day that she didn't need his touch. She hoped not.

He returned her kiss with the same intense heat, it was like he could never get enough of her. It was like she was never close enough to him like if he let her go she would walk away and no matter what he did or said it was never enough to convince her to stay. They shared the same fears and it began to emanate from their very souls, so when she wrapped her legs around him he was more than willing to catch her and bring her closer to him. And when he slammed her on to the bed and pinned her wrist she welcomed his ferocity.

Their first night together she knew he was holding back and trying to be gentle because he had moments when he would loose control, but tonight was the complete opposite. Everything he tried hiding that first night surfaced and to his surprise she welcomed it, returned it even. He didn't think she had anymore sides of her self to show him, but in this moment he knew he was wrong. Together they were letting go of everything, their anger, their sorrow and even their fears and channeling all their emotions into each other.

The next morning Kagome woke up by the rising sun still tangled in Sesshomaru who was already awake, just looking at her. "What?" She smiled.

"Nothing."

"Right." She grinned.

"Room service." A knock came at the door.

"Did you order breakfast?" Kagome's eyes were hopeful.

"No," he sat up "but the 'do not disturb' sign isn't out." He sighed.

"Oh!" Kagome jumped up and grabbed her rob. "See if you can order breakfast while they are here. I'm starving!" She ran to the bathroom.

He sighed going to the door. "Good Morning lover boy."
