Stop it!" Sesshomaru yelled.
"Sesshomaru?" She looked at him, her eyes begging for him to say it was all a lie.
He dropped his head unable to grant her wish, "After Naraku killed my mother I wanted revenge. I found out he had a wife and I thought if he killed my mom, I'll kill his wife. I thought-"
"You thought it would lure me out to you, but when your plan didn't work you had to wait for Kagome to grow up so that you would have a chance at me your self-but now your in love with her." Naraku summed it up.
Kagome backed away from Sesshomaru, the man she thought she knew, the man she loved, did he exists?
"Kagome listen to me, it's not like that any more." Every part of her being was torn to pieces, he just all but admitted it, to killing her mother. He admitted to leaving her and Sota alone. This man that she gave all of herself to took everything from her more than once.
"But he didn't kill her." Every one looked in the corner of the room where Kagewaki stood.
"How do you know?" Inuyasha snapped.
"Because-"
"Kagewaki?" Naraku tried stopping him.
"Because I killed her!" The room was filled with complete silence as Kagome looked around at the men she thought she knew. Everything had suddenly taken a turn she had not expected.
"Kagewaki?"
"Growing up we were told we were distant cousins so that our moms wouldn't find out about each other. And as odd as its seems, I fell in love with you. Your were so beautiful, and kind and you always had hope that something good will happen and every one will be able to get away from this life. I envied that about you. Then Bankostu came and it seemed like he took you away from me. You were always together, he affected you so much that even the times you weren't with him you kept that same smile. I found myself wishing I could have put that smile there. I watched you spar with him and you were always happy, even when he beat you- and I knew how much you hated loosing." Sesshomau could sympathize here because he knew just the look Kagewaki was talking about.
"When your mother found out about mine she divorced him and took you away from the family. When you were with Bankostu I could at least watch over you, but when she took you away from me like that it wasn't fair. When I was old enough I decided to find you, but I didn't know where to start." He locked eyes with Sesshomaru. "That's when I heard he was looking for your mother, so I followed him around. One day these two" He motioned to the brothers "met at a cafe and Inuyasha gave Sesshomaru the address to your mothers job, so I went there." He clenched his fist "I just wanted to see you. I just wanted to make sure you were okay but she told me no. I lost it, something in me just snapped and I killed her."
Kagome looked at Sesshomaru who was wiping blood from his face. "When I got there she was already dead."
"You said she was taken care of!" Inuyasha yelled.
"I never said I killed her." Sesshomaru stood to his feet "I simply took care of her body." He looked at Kagome "He left her in a the parking garage so I called the police." Kagome stood speechless just staring into space and her silence was suffocating him, he needed to hear her say something. "Kagome-"
"Don't-" She pointed her gun at Sesshomaru, "Don't come near me." The gun shook with more violence as her body was wracked with her sobbing. "You...you knew all this time what happened to my mother." Maybe he didn't kill her, but he kept this from her none the less. He was a part of it.
"Kagome, just give me the gun." Sesshomaru put his hand out.
"The human heart is a fragile thing indeed. Shaken by fear, ruled by emotion, torn by love." Naraku watched them with a smile as Kagome's world crumbled beneath her feet.
She took in a deep breath steadying herself and stopping her tears."Naraku," though she was speaking to her father, Kagome never took her eyes off Sesshomaru. "If you get me back you leave Sota out of this, forever." Sesshomaru saw something shift within her resolve, he knew she was serious about her offer.
"You are worth three people." Naraku agreed without hesitation.
"You promised me, you promised Sota would be safe as long as I cooperated." She reminded Sesshomaru.
"Kagome don't do this." He didn't think he would be trying to convince her of all people what a bad idea this was. "You promised to come back with me."
"Think about it, who really owes who?" Kagome cocked the hammer back on her gun "Or you can give me another reason to shoot you." The way she looked at him now broke him in ways he never thought any one could. There he was staring down the barrel of her gun and if she pulled the trigger he couldn't blame her.
He did make a promise to keep Sota safe, and he would keep that promise. "Inuyasha, come with me."
"I'm not going any where with you." He growled.
Sesshomaru rushed Inuyasha, punching him in the gut "You will if you don't want your mother hearing of you indiscretions."
"Follow them." Naraku gave orders to Kagewaki "They don't leave my grounds." A loud slow clap began resonating through the emptiness of the room. "Well played daughter."
"Don't get too excited," She turned her focus to him. "I just needed him out of here so he wouldn't be in the way." He gave her a questioning look as she continued "What kind of daughter would I be if I just turned myself over." She unloaded her gun and threw it aside "You always taught me that if some one desired your services they had to earn them. So earn mine." She went in for an attack.
"You are just full of surprises today." He took her attack head on.
Once the guys were outside Sesshomaru slammed Inuyasha into the side of the van. "What the hell were you thinking working with that man!"
Inuyasha threw a punch at Sesshomaru grazing his jaw. "Don't you dare question me!" His punches were one after another, but none serious enough to knock him out. "I have have nothing to say to you, not after what you took from me!"
Seshomaru caught one of Inuyasha's fist. "Is that really what you want to talk about? Fine." He kicked Inuyasha in the stomach hard enough to put him down for at least five minutes. "Then tell me how much of her you have seen, how much of her belongs to you. Have seen her wear a real smile? Have you seen her cry? Have you seen her passion or heard any of her regrets? Were you there when she killed the first man she loved?" He took Inuyasha by his shirt and brought him to his feet. "No you weren't, because I was there!"
Again he kicked Inuyasha, this time sending back at few feet. "I was with her at the wear house where she had to kill Bankotsu with her own hands. I was there when she broke down and cried her heart out." He picked Inuyasha up again. "I took her back to see her brother and watched all her worries fade away as her smile came back just for him. But more than any of that, I have felt the heat of her passion."
"You bastard!" Inuyasha tried for another punch but his brothers attacks were wearing on his body.
"I don't know what's worse, taking you back to father and telling him what you did or having you face Izaiyo."
"Shut up, it's not like you have ever cared about her any way!" He tried attacking again but something else had stopped him. The two of them had accumulated a crowd of...kids. All around them were kids of all ages just watching, so when a gun shot rang through the air Sesshomaru was confused as to why none of them were scared. However, his concern was momentary because the blood that splattered his face took his attention away from them. At his feet was his little brother and in front of him stood Kagewaki, gun in hand.
"Take care of Kagome." The next shot is what really shook the kids because Kagewaki put a bullet in his own head.
"You've been planning this for quit some time. You've been watching me." Kagome blocked one of Naraku's kicks to her ribs cage and twisted his ankle spinning him away from her.
"You tried to escape, just like your mother and look where it got you." He counter attack with a fist once he gained his footing.
Moving to the outside of his body Kagome grabbed his wrist with one hand and with all her forced pushed up on his elbow with her other hand. She knew her mission was accomplished when she felt his tendons pop. She accomplished the same when she kicked her foot into his knee cap.
"Damn it." Naraku freed himself and jumped away from her. "You're agetting more creative the longer this the fight goes on." The left side of his body hung limp from her last attack, but she had to finish this soon because she wasn't sure how much longer she was going to last. Her vision was beginning to blur and her breathing was hard to control.
"Wait till you see what's next." It seemed to drag on forever for her before she could find the opening she wanted. Her muscles were burning and her body shaking, she wasn't sure if she would be able to do what needed to be done. She just kept hoping and praying that her body would last until finally she saw the opening she had been waiting for.
Naraku came in for a punch and she wrapped her arm around his kicking his good knee. All three of his joints were next to useless and his fourth she held to her body. With her free hand she grabbed his throat just how she did Manten and from there it was just a waiting game.
"By now your brain should be loosing oxygen and as a result you should be getting tunnel vision." He struggled but she held him as tight as she could. "While this happens I want you to picture the face of everyone's life you've destroyed. I want you to see Sesshomaru's mother, my mother, and me" She watched the life drain from his face and eyes. "And I want you to know that this darkness engulfing you is forever, because you won't be waking up."
Once he passed out she reloaded her gun from earlier and put a bullet in his head, just as a precaution. She managed to drag herself up the same set of stairs Hiten and Manten had brought her down. Walking around her father's mansion was a dangerous move in her condition, if she was approached by the wrong person she would be as good as dead. Unsure of how much longer her conscious would stay with her she tried to focus on getting out, but her thoughts were racing nonstop. Every thought and emotion was flooding her being, her mothers death, the feelings she first had for Inuyasha, how she killed Bankostu with her own hands, her feelings for Sesshomaru and what they shared. She finally reached the door but her body was reaching its limits.
She was shaking uncontrollably and dredged in sweat. She could feel death squeezing her chest, shortening her breaths and numbing her whole left arm. She couldn't help but think how ironic it was that she would die not being able to breath. After what seemed like an eternity her body had finally collapsed and all she could see was a blinding light that was hot on her skin. As her world began to darken she had only one thought, "Sota."
When she finally opened her eyes the light was still there, only it wasn't as bright and it seemed to be flashing. All around her were murmurs she did't recognize, and occasionally she would hear them calling her name. She tried to figure out what was going on but her thoughts lead to one thing-death. She could hear her heart beat slowing down and with it all he voices began to disappear. The slower her heart the further away the voices drifted until they were gone and a steady tone took her away.
