Mike woke up around 9:00AM. He got up and walked to the kitchen and saw his mom already cooking eggs. He sat down after greeting her and simply awaited his plate to be filled. School had recently ended and summer began. Since it ended, he hasn't spoken to Zoey much. In his mind, all his personalities were living peacefully in their rooms and usually just awaited mike's return to the subconscious so they could all play together. Though...a few weeks back when he was in his mind again while asleep, Manitoba gave him some very serious news...he said that he saw D, mal, and Bue in the hall. It was unnerving news as he remembered the pain and stress it put on him and his mother. Upon hearing this, he knew not to tell his mom. All of a sudden scrambled eggs were slid onto the plate in front of him. He looked up to see his mother, she looked happy and he smiled at her, she ruffled his hair.
"Did you hear that there's a fair in town at the moment?" She asked. After mike took a bite, chewed and swallowed, he answered. "I think so, I might've seen an ad for it on TV."
"Well, it'll be here all week. Would 'ya like me to call Zoey up for you so you two can go together?" Mike pondered this for a moment wondering what Zoey would think about the news or how she'd react to the lack of news about HIM.
"Ummm...sure! That sounds good. Today?" His mom nods and he goes to take a shower. He let's vito take control so during that time, he runs over to manitoba's room and knocks on the door, a little nervously. He opens it up and immediately mike starts asking tons of questions. Manitoba just invites him in and they sit on the bed as mike tries to slow down.
"You said that you saw...Bue?" Mike hesitantly asked.
"Yeah, the dingo sheila knocked me out an' dragged me to MAL'S old room."
"But how?! I thought the door disappeared!"
"I think their powers are manifesting...growing as time goes on."
"So what you're saying is...D's back?"
"Mal, D, Bue, they're all back." This made mike very paranoid, it was like hearing the end of the world was gonna be tomorrow. Just as manitoba finished that sentence. Mike blinked a couple times then found himself in his own room and had just put on his shirt. He was in his physical body again. The next thing he heard was his mom calling him to the living room. He ran out to meet his mom as quickly as possible and found her on the phone. Her face was excited, Zoey must've said yes.
"She's coming over here and I'll drive the two of you over there, how does that sound?"
"Great, sounds...great." Mike hesitantly replied with happiness. His mom hung up not long after.
"about 20 minutes and Zoey'll be here."
"Okay!" He quickly ran over to the bathroom, his mother didn't think much of it. Once he got in, he locked the door. It's been awhile since I've done this, I wonder if I remember how. He put his hands to the mirror and focused, 20 seconds went by as he continued to focus hard with determination. Just when he was about to give up on it and let go, the mirror got foggy and a figure started to appear, mike let go and the figure became clear, manitoba.
"I already know what you're thinkin' mate. I sent vito and svetlana to check out the barrier that kept those three in check and I told them to report back to me if anything seems unstable or doesn't look right. I got chester with me to answer some other questions." Mike sighed.
"I got word from this bozo that those little scoundrels escaped and caused some mischief." Mike's face started to turn worried.
"The one I saw first was the sheila. It was only two seconds later that she knocked me out and dragged me away."
"Where?!" Manitoba looked down and seemed a bit hesitant to answer. "Tell me!"
"Mal's old room." Mike's whole body shook with paranoia and some horror, he collected his thoughts quickly in order to respond.
"But I thought we sealed that off."
"She locked me in that room with the lights off and that's when I heard the voices."
"You're sounding pretty batty right now, manny." Chester stated, the two boys just ignored him.
"I recognized those voices perfectly and definitively. No doubt in my mind, it was mal and D."
Mike's eyes bulged in some shock and he took a few steps back then turned to his left in worry that he'd see the moving shadow of feet running away and have to make his mom anxious about it. A wave of relief came over him when he heard her voice coming from far down the hall.
"I made some grilled cheese for you and Zoey to eat while you're down there!"
"Okay!" He smiled happily but that smile faded when he looked back at the mirror, expecting more bad news, but found it blank as just his plain reflection stares back at him. Mike decides to wait till night to ask again about the rest of manny's experience. Despite the fact that this'll bug him all day, he's hoping Zoey'll take his mind off it. He doesn't want to worry her either then walks out and heads back to the kitchen where mike's mother is packing up the lunches. The two simply await a doorbell ring at this point for Zoey's arrival. Mike looked out the window by the door and a couple minutes later, saw Zoey skipping down the sidewalk with a big smile on her face. Wearing a light green sundress with pink flowers on it, a white sunhat, and sandals. His mom is the one who greets her at the door after mike went over to the kitchen table to pick up the lunches. While mike got everything together, his mom and his friend were talking about him as though he weren't there.
"So, how's mike been?" Zoey asked curiously.
"He's been acting a bit odd for a few days now." Mike's mom replied, a hint of concern in her voice.
"Do 'ya think it has something to do with his personalities?" Mike's eyes widened a bit.
"I'm not sure. But if it is, he seems to feel most comfortable around you-"
"OKAY! Hi mom, hey Zoey, it's nice to see 'ya again! When we goin'? possibly, now-ish?" His mother knew spot on why he interrupted and his fast talking wasn't helping him as she tried to hold back her laughter. Her son must've gotten embarrassed when she was about to say that Zoey made him happy. His mom doesn't, however, know that they kissed. Zoey was a bit clueless though as Mike tried to cover up his mother's words and his own panicked expressions by pretending he was suave.
"Shall we go?" Mike asked both Zoey and his mother.
"I'll drive you two there." Zoey smiled and nodded and she lead them to her car and almost ruffling Mike's hair but she resisted the urge and they all got in with the lunches and everything. They drove off to the fair downtown.
