Chapter 13
Percy woke up late this morning. He was up all last night using his son of Poseidon powers while Kronos was in a meeting with Gaea. Rumor has it a certain dirtface isn't too happy trusting a traitor that cost Kronos the war last time, or with trusting two children of the Big Three either.
Percy sighed, not yet ready to face another long day. Suddenly there was a knock on his door. "Come in." he called.
Luke stepped in followed by Thalia. Percy raised his eyebrow at the two. "What's up?" he asked.
"Kronos and Gaea want us to start training the army." Luke said.
Percy held back another sigh and nodded, following them out of his room.
"So we were thinking you take the demi-gods with Thalia and I'll take the monsters sense I've worked with them before." Luke said.
Percy nodded. "Sounds good to me. How many Demi-gods are there so far?"
"Not a lot." Thalia said in an expressionless voice. "Maybe thirty-ish? Most are children of the minor-gods."
Percy nodded walking into the training room for demi-gods. He walked up to one of the demi-gods that were already in there practicing. She had straight brown hair with pale skin and blue eyes. She looked to be about 14. "Can you go gather everyone? We're getting ready to start." The girl nodded and ran out of the room.
Pretty soon kids from the ages of maybe twelve to nineteen started walking in. There were so many young demi-gods Percy felt his stomach twist in knots.
When it looked like everyone had arrived Thalia and Percy split the kids into two groups. While she worked on them with Archery, Percy was going to teach the rest how to use a sword.
"Alright." Percy said turning to his group. "First step, find a sword that feels right and stand in a circle."
Everyone went over and grabbed a sword. Once all the demi-gods where in a circle surrounding Percy, he checked to see if they were holding the sword right. After fixing all the mistakes Percy continued to show them how to do the basics.
One demi-god, most likely a son of Ares, shouted "Why are we listening to you? What do you know about sword fighting?"
This kid was obviously new here. Percy turned towards him. The kid seemed about 16 and had black hair spiked up in the front with way too much gel. "Well how about we find out, mr.." Percy trailed off waiting for the arrogant jerk's name.
"Mark." The dude apparently named Mark said with a cocky grin.
"Alright Mark, how about we have a little one on one?" Percy asked.
Thalia's group came over to see what all the commotion was about and they crowded around the messy circle. Thalia pushed through the crowed and stood next to Percy and Mark. "Rules are you can maim, but no killing."
Percy grinned, holding up the sword Kronos got him and getting into his fighting stance. Mark also held up his sword and got into stance.
"Three, two, one, go!" Thalia called out.
Percy and Mark circled each other, both waiting to see what the other one would do first. When it came clear to Mark that Percy wasn't going to make the first swing he sloppily swung his sword at him. Percy easily blocked without trying and put in his own jab.
Percy slashed down at an open spot on Marks left side, cutting him along his side. Mark cried out in pain and tried to swipe at Percy repeatedly. Percy blocked each of Mark's moves, making Mark angry.
Mark tried to use his sword to knock Percy's sword out of his hands but when he failed Percy just laughed. "If you want to disarm someone you're supposed to do this." Percy said as he locked hilts with Marks sword and pushed downward causing Marks sword to fly out of his hands."
"Percy wins!" Thalia called. The audience cheered while Mark stared at Percy in surprise.
Percy just looked at him and said, "You have a long way to go buddy. I wouldn't act so tough just yet."
After a few more hours of training Percy and Thalia called it a day. While the demi-gods went off to do whatever, Percy decided to go down to the water. He walked down to the slightly less dead sea.
Ever sense Percy started using his Poseidon powers again the sea has been slowly but surely getting better. Percy practiced moving the water in waves, lifting it up, and even creating mini water tornados.
Suddenly a voice spoke behind him. "And just what do you think you're doing?"
