There were few things Scorpius wanted to make clear to himself.
He hated annoying know-it-alls.
He hated unruly red hair.
He hated the smell of mint and cherries.
He hated freckles.
He hated clear blues eyes.
He hated short petite forms.
He hated listening to hundred things about muggle fiction.
He hated people who flapped their hands around when they spoke.
He hated brightly colored and patterned socks.
But most of all, he hated having to pretend.
All along Scorpius had continued to act like everything about Rose was an illness. He had hated her, and hated that he had to bear her obnoxious presence because they shared Albus as their best friend.
But something seemed to have changed. The only thing he hated now was that he had to pretend and that Rose was no more the cause of all the things he had learnt to dislike. She had turned into an enigma who kept him awake at night. Everything about her filled him with serenity and inexplicable happiness. And he hated himself for it.
Scorpius couldn't really do anything about it – so he continued to pretend, because that was the only thing he was best at.
A/N: It's been a very long while since I wrote any Rose/Scorpius. I'm not sure how satisfied I'm with this, but I do hope you enjoyed it anyway. Let me know what you thought of it. :)
