"Darling look…aren't these pictures wonderful!" Ginger said to her husband as she gushed over the wedding photos. She smiled at one in particular of her dancing with the Professor at the reception.
The academic put his notepad down in which he was scribbling down a new formula for a perfume to look over at the picture. "You look quite breathtaking my love." He remarked. This was rewarded with a huge kiss on his lips. As usual he was taken aback a bit before his wife let go. Would he ever get used to it? He doubted it. There was no getting used to how this gorgeous being fell in love with him of all people. Many times he scratched his head trying to figure it out. Ginger told him to stop trying to analyze it and just enjoy the fact she loves him. He decided to adhere to her advice. Why bother anyway? Ginger Grant now Ginger Hinkley loved him. That's all that really counted.
Ginger Hinkley. Had a very nice ring to it if he thought so himself. On their honeymoon she insisted or in his mind demanded that everyone refer to her as Mrs. Hinkley. None of this Ms. Grant or Ginger Grant…no Mrs. Hinkley and don't be trying to pull a Ms. Hinkley…no she was Mrs. Nonetheless he was quite amused by his firey redheaded wife.
The academic advised the staff to just go along with it to which they did. It wasn't like Ginger was awful to them. She wasn't. In fact she was the most pleasant movie star they had in a long time at their magnificent hotel and told her as much. It had been quite a honeymoon to say the least. Romantic candlelight dinners at night, swimming in the luxurious pool, the warm sunshine, beautiful trees and flowers.
Ginger had hated to see it come to an end but she knew that she had to get back to reality. Even though she had finished up her role as Jane McAlister, the other movie still was in the works. Finally they had found an actress to play Victoria. Her name was Madeline Ireland and she was absolutely brilliant. Ginger could not be happier with the actress. Her reading was flawless and spot on. Daryl joked to Ginger that it looks like they couldn't use her for the part of Victoria after all. The two asked that Madeline perform a scene with the actor playing the part of Alex and it went just beautifully. The chemistry was perfect. Just as Ginger wanted.
Now that the casting was taken care of, the production could take place. They had rough time finding the perfect location when Mrs. Howell, who was invited by the starlet to watch the filming suggested they use the island. Ginger thought it was a brilliant idea and off they went. It was surreal seeing it all again to say the least. The actress could not help but smile at the hut she had shared with Mary Ann. It seemed so small now. How did they manage to live in that for four years!
The Professor had found his old hut and was amused at some of the things he had been relegated to use for his experiments. Ginger remarked he was just so brilliant that he could make use of anything.
Gilligan was happy as can be to see his old chimp friend Gladys. The creature recognized the sailor and quickly hurried over to great him.
They shot all the island scenes there and Ginger was pleased with the results. It made it more real to film on the actual island itself. She giggled at the scene they filmed with Alex nuzzling Victoria's neck. It brought that memory flooding back. What made it more humorous was that the Professor insisted that Paul was not doing it right. After the first take, the academic shook his head saying it was all wrong. He then took a hold of his wife and demonstrated how it was to be done with absolutely no protest from the redhead whatsoever.
After the filming wrapped up they once again said good-bye to the island and headed back home. Only a few more scenes to go and the movie would be completed. Well sort of. There was still the editing which was going to be tough. What part to keep in and what to keep out. Ginger always hated that. She wished they could keep all parts of the movie in but knew very well that was not a possibility. The starlet did demand under no circumstances were any of her memorable romantic moments with Roy to be taken out. All of them were to be left in place. They were very important to the story.
The starlet smiled at a few more pictures before setting them down. She looked around the beautiful back porch and pool. It was so spacious. You could hold fabulous parties there. She intended to do so very soon. Maybe hold on for the movie premiere. Ginger turned her head looking at her husband who went back to scribbling in his notepad. "Darling what are you doing?"
"Working on a new formula for our debut perfume." He replied. "I want the first fragrance line for Starlet Fragrances to be perfect."
Ginger got up from her chair and sauntered over to her husband. He noticed a shadow on his notepad and got the feeling he was no longer going to be able to continue his work. His eyes went up to the redhead and he gulped. She smiled her seductive smile as she slid onto his lap. "What kind is it going to be?" The movie star asked her arms draped over his shoulders.
"Um…what is what?" He asked in a trance.
"The perfume." Her lips just inches away from his.
"Oh uh…I was thinking of a um…I…I don't know.." The Professor forgot everything that was on his mind and could only concentrate on the voluptuous female in his arms.
"You don't know?" Ginger smiled her lips just barely touching his ear.
"I..Well…" He cleared his throat and then coughed. "I um..I was thinking of something that was well…sweet but sexy"
"Sweet and sexy?" Ginger breathed in his ear.
"Yes." Roy managed to choke out as he felt his temperature rising among other things. "Maybe a tad provocative…"
"What's it going to be called?"
"Hollywood Starlet." The academic replied gazing at his wife.
"Sounds wonderful. It is patterned after anyone I know?"
"Just this incredibly gorgeous redheaded being that I'm married to." Was his reply.
"Lucky girl." She said before crushing her lips on his.
His arms went around her holding her tight as his notepad fell to the ground.
Marina
Jonas Grumby went about his business of shining up his new boat. It was not the boat he used for taking folks out on tours. It was his own personal boat to go fishing or just relax on the sea. There was nothing more peaceful to the salty captain then being out on the water. And did he ever need it. Ginger and the Professor's wedding was a little rough on him. It was not that he did not feel happy for them. He did. The naval captain was thrilled that the two were married and starting a life together. He just felt a little sad that was all.
Not something he could really help. For a long time he admired that movie star. Thought her to be kind and very beautiful. But not once he did ever catch her eye. No her eyes were directed elsewhere and he knew very well there was not a thing that could ever be done about it. At least Ginger had a good man. He thought the Professor was the best choice for the firey redhead. The Skipper accepted the fact that he was not.
Still seeing them together at the wedding, it was tough. But what could he do? Really?
Nothing. Not a thing. At least she was still his friend. That he could live with. He would hate to not have her friendship. He did smile to himself a bit as Ginger did attempt to build him up to several single females at the reception. Setting him up to dance with many of them. Showed what a huge heart that actress had.
He was wiping down the railing when a voice called out "Hi there Jonas!"
The Skipper looked up and smiled at the female standing there. "Jessica." He greeted. "What brings you here?"
Skipper walked down to where she was standing on the dock. "It's nice to see you."
"Likewise." The strawberry blonde said with a slight twinkle in her hazel eyes. "I thought it was such a nice day and I did not want to waste it. I thought I would come down and see this boat you had told me about at the reception."
"Oh well here it is." He beamed proudly at the white sea vessel.
Jessica laughed at the name painted along the side. "Castaway?" She said amused.
"For some reason I thought it appropriate."
"I like it." Jessica said with approval. "Mind if I come aboard?"
"Not at all." He said taking her hand and helping her board the boat.
She looked around. "Very nice. Very spacious. You could hold a party here."
"You could." The Skipper said. "Although I can't think of any parties I would be throwing at the moment."
Jessica turned to him. "Not even Gilligan's wedding reception?"
Skipper shook his head. "No they are getting married in Kansas."
"Oh I see..well what about an engagement party?" The older Grant sister suggested.
"Engagement party?"
"Sure why not? I bet Gilligan and Mary Ann would love it! They hadn't had once said their engagement was announced. Why not have it here on this beautiful boat?"
"Well I don't know…"
"Come on." Jessica pressed. "I know that Gilligan is like family to you. I bet it would mean a lot to him."
"I suppose it would." The sailor relented. "And you are right. Gilligan was pretty much my only family for a long time."
Jessica sat down on a small bench. "You never had any children of your own did you?"
The captain shook his head. "No I didn't. I never really found that special woman…well that's not entirely true…"
She smiled. "You talking about my sister?"
Jonas sighed. "Yes and not. What I mean is that I was involved with a woman a long time ago. Her name was Evelyn. She was a sweetheart. Evelyn wanted to get married but I was not quite ready for it…or maybe I was just too afraid."
"Why?"
"My parents I suppose. I don't mean that I had a terrible childhood. I didn't. It's not that my parents did not love each other. They did but it was more like…that had to learn to love each other. My father married Maybelle Andrews because that's who everyone told him was the perfect woman. And she was a terrific wife but I think they both knew that they really were not meant to be. My father never strayed from Mom and Mom never strayed from Dad. They were friends that is for sure but I don't think they were ever deeply in love. That's how I felt about Evelyn. I liked her a great deal but I didn't want the type of marriage my parents had. So I ended things with her. Needless to say it hurt her a a great deal but I think she understood. And then I met your sister on the three hour tour. I thought her to be quite beautiful and entertained the notion of maybe giving it a go but then I saw her looking at the Professor and that idea when straight out the window."
"I'm sorry." Jessica said sympathetically. "I know it must have hurt."
"It did. I think Ginger attempted to boost my esteem by pretending to flirt. I knew it was all an act but I appreciated it."
Jessica smiled. "That's my little sister. Loves the attention of men. Always had. Ginger loves making men fall at her feet. She's beautiful and she knows it. It's harmless anyway. She's allowed to have her fun and she never sets out to hurt anyone."
"No she never does." The Skipper agreed. "She's quite a gal."
"Certainly is." Jessica agreed.
Hinkley Home
Ginger was in the nursery sitting in the purple rocking chair holding a pink bunny in her arms. She had a look of content on her fact. Content knowing that someday this room would be filled with children. How wonderful it would be! She could picture it in her mind a little version of her Roy building something. A little version of herself twirling about the room like a ballerina. Her hand then was placed on her flat stomach. A part of her wondered if there was life growing inside there. A smile crept to her face thinking about the possibility. It was certainly possible. Wow. Imagine if she was going to have a baby! Her eyes went to the crib with tears in her eyes. A little person sleeping like an angel in that very crib. One who of course would wake her at 2 AM for one thing or another but she thought it worth it.
Her arms went across holding the pink bunny tightly. The birthday parties..the sleepovers…Halloween! Thanksgivings! Christmas! She laughed to herself picturing her Roy dressing as Santa for the kids. She hoped she did turn out to be with child. It was what she wanted more than anything in the world.
Apartment Building
Eva sat in the ugly olive green chair in her crummy apartment. It was a dump but it was cheap and clean. Most importantly the landlord didn't ask any questions.
It took a lot to avoid the authorities but she did it. She dyed her hair black and her eyes were now an almost violet color. She also changed her name. No more was she Diana Hart. No she couldn't risk that. Now she was Helena Burns. A friend of hers got a phony drivers license made up for her along with other phony documents. No one knew the whereabouts of Diana Hart and it seemed few in Hollywood cared. That angered her more. She could have been a household name but no..that bitch had to escape and ruin everything! Curse that stupid idiot for leaving the keys on the seat of the van!
Now she could not go back to Hollywood. Not a chance. It was not worth the risk. That stupid Ginger was still the big name star and she was nothing again! If only there was someway to be rid of that no good hussy! She had contemplated going through with the plan of planting fake love letters from Gilligan to Ginger but decided against it. No one would believe it and would just assume it she was behind it. What she needed to do was think bigger. What could she do to rid Hollywood of Ginger Grant once and for all?
Hinkley Home
Ginger continued sitting in the nursery thinking about all that happened. That Eva was still lurking out there that much she knew. Roy hired extra security for her. He was not taking the chance of anyone snatching her away again. The faulty alarm was fixed and there was even added security at the gate. The grounds were pretty much like Fort Knox and that it how the Professor wanted it to be.
The movie star did not blame him but she took another step as well. She purchased a firearm which she kept with her at all times. Ginger learned how to fire it and all the necessary safety precautions. Never again did she want to be helpless. If need be she was going to defend not only herself but her family. A family she was going to have someday.
The Professor thought it was an excellent idea and purchased a gun himself. He wanted to be able to protect his wife and their future children as well. What happened with Eva was not something either of them wished to have repeated.
Ginger did not understand why the woman held such contempt for her. When she was on the island she had been nothing but nice to her. She is repaid by a clonk on the head and tied up to be left there. Ginger smiled a bit at the Professor saying he knew something was up. If anyone would have known that was not her it would be him. There was no fooling Roy Hinkley when it came to Ginger Grant. Why she was sure that even if they did take off with Eva in the boat, her beloved Professor would be suspicious and turn the boat right around to find her.
What the starlet did know that is that Eva Grubb was very unstable and she needed to keep her guard up. There was no telling what she was planning next. But no matter what it was Ginger vowed she would be prepared. Eva was not going to steal her place in Hollywood and most certainly was not going to steal her life. She worked too hard to get where she was and waited too long for a terrific man like the Professor. No way she was just going to sit back and allow it to be stolen from her. She was protecting what was hers.
Deciding to forget about Eva, her mind thought about Mary Ann and Gilligan's wedding. How she was looking forward to seeing the Summers farm in Kansas. It was sure to be beautiful. Ginger thought Mary Ann made the right decision by having the wedding there. It suited her just right. The farm girl showed her a picture of the dress and the starlet thought it just lovely. Mary Ann was a lucky girl to marry Gilligan. He was a sweet young man and Ginger knew he would take great care of the brunette.
Yes being on that island seemed to work out just wonderful. She had her Professor and Mary Ann had her Gilligan.
So many nights those two would go on about those two male castaways. Wondering if there would be any romantic future with either of them. Well now they have their answer.
What luck to have two perfectly charming men aboard that tiny ship. It was fate. That is what it was.
