A/N I would like to thank all for your support and for all the kind reviews. And I would like to thank my wonderful guest reviewer for taking the time to hate Pinger so much that they would read Pinger stories.
God Bless Your Heart!
Dana Lashkell sat at her type writer fuming. She read the latest hit piece that no good Connie Pearson wrote. How dare that woman! Did she really have to sink that low! What was wrong with her! Enough was enough. This was going to end. The raven haired woman hit the keys with a fury. Each on hitting the paper with full force. Ginger did not deserve this kind of abuse. That's exactly what it was. Abuse. Ms. Pearson constantly abused her with her column day in and day out. It was as if the woman had no life of her own. Regardless of the reason, Dana was not letting this one slide. No she was hitting back and she was hitting back hard. There was a ding and a sliding sound as she continued on with her piece. Finally she was satisfied with what she wrote and tore the paper out of the machine. Sitting back and reading it over she was very pleased. Dana reached over to her phone and picked up the black receiver and dialed. "Hello Al? Dana…I wanted to let you know I finished my latest column. Yup. Okay I will send it right over. Thanks. Bye."
She hung up the phone with a smile. "Oh Connie your days of tormenting Ginger Hinkley are over."
Felix Talent Agency (A week later)
Helena was able to land a secretary job for Mr. Felix at his agency. The pay was pretty good and she was able to find out about some good acting gigs. Right now however she was steamed reading an article written by Dana Lashkell. It ripped Connie Pearson to shreds.
What exactly has Mrs. Ginger Hinkley done to warrant such treatment from one Ms. Connie Pearson? Has Mrs. Hinkley wronged her at some point on her life? Did Ginger commit a crime that we don't know about? No. What Mrs. Hinkley has done was become a successful movie star. I can only assume that Ms. Pearson is jealous of this. Ms. Pearson is actually supposed to be a movie critic but spends her time ripping on the lovely Ginger Hinkley. Okay we get it Connie. You don't like her. Next.
I don't like to be presumptuous but my guess is that Connie Pearson at one point in her life attempted to become a famous star and did not succeed. One would think that a person would know it is very hard to make it in this business. Not everyone gets a shot at being a big time celebrity but some do. Ginger Hinkley was one of those who were lucky.
She has beauty, she has charm and she has wit. Most importantly she has a heart. A big one. Always giving her time to help others and give to others. She make a huge contribution to the children's hospital. Not just a monetary one. She visited with kids who were stricken with cancer or some other horrible disease. She lifted their spirits by singing to them. She signed autographs for them. Posed for pictures, she even brought them toys to play with. Stuffed animals to comfort them while they were undergoing their treatment.
I personally can attest to this. My little girl was in the hospital with an illness. She was very scared and needless to say so was I. It was heartwrenching to see your child go though something like that. Mrs. Hinkely took the time to visit my daughter and boosted her spirits. She even told her how beautiful she was despite losing her hair from the chemo she was undergoing. Ginger informed her that it was just hair and it would grow back. Told her that her new hair would be even more beautiful and gave her a pretty pink bow to place in her hair when the time came. Guess what. Her hair did grow back and my daughter has a clean bill of health. She wears that ribbon in her hair every day.
Has Ginger forgotten her? No she has not. She always inquires about her and asks if she needs anything. I am grateful that Mrs. Hinkley would take the time to bring some joy into my daughter's life.
One of the biggest mysteries to me is just how cold Connie Pearson has become about Ginger's marriage to Roy Hinkley. For starters anyone would eyes could see how much that man adores the beautiful redhead. To write that he should be looking for a replacement while she was fighting for her life is just about as low as you can get. As if the man should have no feelings about it at all and just look for another woman. Does Mrs. Pearson have no shame? Maybe it was because she was unlucky to find such a terrific man as Professor Hinkley. I'm not sure whatever her reason was for writing such a horrible thing is beyond any decent human being's comprehension. I hope one day that Ms. Pearson grows up and learns to act like an adult. She cannot continue on with her childish behavior. Please Connie, grow up!
Helena sneered as she read it and threw it aside. Why did that little tramp always always have someone there in her damn corner? It made her sick. Well she was going to have Ms. Pearson backing her. She would make sure of it.
Helena found out about a small part in a musical. While it was true she did not have much of a voice, it would not matter as she would be singing with a whole group and have no solo. She would have a few lines to speak and that was it. She hoped it would be enough to gain the attention of some big time movie gurus. At least get Connie to write a favorable review.
The brunette checked the time and hurried up from her desk. It was time for her audition and she did not want to be late. Rushing out of the office to her car her eyes came upon a newspaper with Ginger's picture splashed on the page with Roy Hinkley next to her.
It talked about actress's recovery. Right now Helena was not focused on that. She focused upon Roy's picture. Imaging that was her standing beside him. What a dream that would be! Smiling a bit to herself she got into her car and drove off. As she drove she began to think of what it would be like to be on Professor Hinkley's arm. She knew all the love and affection he poured upon Ginger. Imagine if that was her! How much Hollywood would eat it up! Again like before Ginger's heartache was not a blip on her radar. It did not matter to her. What mattered is somehow someway finally getting that man's attention away from that redheaded tramp and to her. If only she had done this on the island instead of wasting her time with Gilligan. Well let bygones be bygones. She had the chance to snag that man and she was going to take it.
The theater came into view and she pulled her car into the lot. Taking a deep breath, she opened her car door and stepped out. There were a few others there as well. Some she remembered from her last audition. Some new faces. Helena believed that she would not just be another face in the crowd for long. She was going to get this part no matter what it took! She opened the door and made her away inside to the auditorium. She went backstage and waited until called upon. It was an hour or two before she was finally called and she made her way to the stage.
Helena took a breath and ran through the lines. After she was finished the director waited a few second then spoke. "Not bad." He said. "But I would like to see it with less dramatics. Try it one more time."
Taking this as a good sign, Helena read the lines again. The director was quite pleased and thanked her telling her they would make their decision very soon.
The brunette was ecstatic and quickly exited the stage. She was going to get this! She knew she was! Oh look out Ginger! A new star was arriving!
The wannabee star made her way to her car feeling on top of the world. This was it! Helena Burns was on her way! She started the car up and pulled out of the lot. She sang a bit to herself as she drove when she came to a red light she stopped and noticed that same picture from the newspaper as before however in her mind that was her standing there and not Ginger.
Hinkley Home
"Roy…" Ginger giggled. "Stop that…that tickles…" She removed his fingers from her stomach.
"Sorry my love I can't help it. Our beautiful baby is in there." He gently kissed her flat stomach.
Ginger smiled. "I love you."
He lifted himself up and kissed her lips. Letting go he gently stroked her hair. "I love you Ginger. I'm so glad you came back to me."
"Of course I would." The starlet stated. "I told you I was never leaving you. You are stuck with me for good."
"That my beautiful starlet is a fate I will gladly accept." The Professor kissed her yet again.
"Gee Roy give the woman a break already!" A female voice said.
The Professor frowned before he turned to see Barbara standing there. "What do you want?" He snapped.
The blonde ignored him and walked towards Ginger's bed. "How you doing?" She asked.
"I'm good. Dr. Sherwood said I should be just fine. Need to take it easy for awhile. He said I need to limit my work schedule."
"No he said that you should take a break from your busy non stop schedule and relax before jumping back in." The Professor corrected.
"Mind your business." Ginger said sticking her tongue out at him. This caused the Professor to get a good tickle on her exposed bare stomach and she shoved his hand away. "Stop that!" She scolded. "You see how mean he is to me." The starlet said to Barbara.
The blonde laughed. "Yes he is horrible." She then grew a bit serious. "I just wanted to stop by and see how you were. I'm glad you are okay. I was worried about you. And of course him." She said pointed to the Professor. "You have no idea how much of a pain he turned into!"
"I know." Ginger grinned. "He can't live without me."
"I don't wish to live without you." Roy stated kissing Ginger's lips. "I love you."
"I should get going." Barbara said. "Roy I hope to see you in the office tomorrow. It is your company too you know."
"Get lost." He replied still concentrating on his wife.
Barbara laughed and rolled her eyes before leaving. Ginger turned to her husband. "Darling I hope you haven't been neglecting your work too much. You know your company…"
"My love don't you worry about it. Everything is fine. Our new Ginger line is going to debut next week. And I already have another fragrance in mind."
"Really what?" Ginger asked intrigued.
"You'll see." He said. "In the meantime my beautiful wife, I want you to get some rest." He adjusted the blankets. "I'll see you later."
The Professor placed a kiss on her forehead and headed out of the room. He knew that Barbara was right. He did need to get back into his work. It was not like he intended to ignore it. This whole thing scared the hell out of him. The last thing in the world he wanted was to lose his beloved Ginger. The police were still looking for the perpetrator.
He did inform them he saw a woman with black hair speeding away. He was sorry he did not remember the make of the car or anything. However there were other eyewitnesses who also recalled seeing this woman with black hair. One was able to recall part of the license plate. It was a start. The security cameras were being studied from every possible angle. Sooner or later that person was going to slip up and the police were going to be there to nab them. For right now he was putting that out of his mind. He was going to focus on his wife. The Professor spoke with Dr. Sherwood in private about sexual relations with Ginger. More than anything else he wished to have her in his arms again. The good doctor assured that it would be quite alright. Ginger was very healthy and there was no reason she could not partake in that activity.
So after getting the clearance from the doctor, Roy was planning on surprising Ginger with a romantic night. A candle light dinner. Just the two of them and then he would take her back up to their bedroom. He was going to purchase a new nightgown for his wife to complete the night. The Professor got into his car and drove off towards Monica's. He called her asking if she had anything in her boutique that would be perfect for his wife. The designer told him there were several items available and asked he come down to pick out which one he would like.
At the same time he was pulling into the lot, another car arrived. One with a dark haired woman. That woman stared at Roy got out of his car and walked inside the store.
Slowly, Helena opened her car door and followed him in. After having had a good audition, she decided to treat herself and pick up some new number. What luck was it that Roy Hinkley was also at the very same store!
Helena pretended to be browsing through the shop but she was trying to listen in on the conversation between Roy and Monica. She could only pick up bits and pieces. Nothing worth hearing. Monica then told him to wait right there while she went to the back. This was when Helena decided to approach him. "Hello." She said with a smile.
He turned to see the woman there. "Hello." He replied politely.
"You are Ginger Grant's husband right?"
"Ginger Hinkley." He corrected as he knew that his wife would have if she had been there.
"Yes of course. You know I am amazed at how you do it."
"Do what?" He asked confused.
"Deal with all that gossip that surrounds her. Must be hard."
"Yes but I love Ginger no matter what anyone tries to say about her."
"I see." Helena said annoyed he would give an answer like that. "I bet that article awhile back really hit hard didn't it?"
"Look Miss…"
"Helena." She replied holding out a hand he did not bother to shake.
"Miss Helena, if you are looking for gossip to spread I have none to give you."
"Oh." She said pretending be sorrowful. "I'm sorry….I didn't mean…Me and my big mouth. I was just…I know that it can't be easy. I apologize."
"Quite alright."
"Listen I know Ginger has been away from Hollywood for a long time with being stranded on that island, I suppose now that she is back, people just want to talk about her."
The Professor nodded saying nothing.
"I should be going." Helena said. "It nice to meet you Roy Hinkley. Maybe we will run into each other again sometime." With that she walked off and Roy rolled his eyes.
This was something else he had a hard time adjusting too. Women would come up to him and attempt their useless flirtation on him not caring that he was a happily married man.
Why didn't some women have any respect for marriage? Honestly. Finally Monica arrived back and he was pleased with the garment she presented to him. It would look just marvelous on his wife he knew it. He thanked her for her help and went back out to his car.
Helena in hers watching his every move. He was certainly handsome. More handsome then she remembered on the island. Damn she could not wait to have him. And she would. He would not be able to resist her. After all, she had ten times more class and charm then that redheaded hussy why….then something caught her eye. Something was sticking out of the wiperblade of her car. She got out and fumed. A parking ticket! Ugh! Why why why!
Zoo
Gilligan closed the cage and was startled to se Mary Ann standing there. "What are you doing here?" He asked.
"My photo shoot finished up early and I thought I would see my favorite zoo employee." The farm girl said placing her hands on his shoulders before kissing his lips.
The monkeys made a sound as they witnessed this. Gilligan broke away and told them to be quiet. Mary Ann laughed. "You off your shift soon?" She asked.
"Almost. I just have to feed Leo and Leona." He said referring to the male and female lions.
"Mind if I join you?"
"Okay sure." He said.
Mary Ann followed him to where the lions were kept. She watched as the two large cats noticed the familiar face approaching their cage. They lifted their heads and then laid them back down. "I'm glad the gossip has died don't aren't you?" She asked of Gilligan.
"Yeah that was horrible." He said giving each of the jungle cats their food. "Ginger did not deserve to be treated like that. I just hope they catch that awful person who shot her."
"Me too. I'm happy she is going to be alright. So exciting about her having a baby isn't it!"
"Sure is." He said climbing down from the cage and shutting the door. He came back around to Mary Ann. "Ginger will be a great mother."
"Gilligan." The farm girl spoke carefully. "I was wondering…when we get married…would you like to have children?"
"Wow." He said sitting his bucket down. "Me a father?"
"Why not? You would be a great one."
"You really think so?" Gilligan asked.
"I know so." Mary Ann assured. "I can't think of anyone who would be a better father to my children. Living on a big farm with the animals…"
"Big farm?"
"Why yes. I would love to live on a farm. Wouldn't you?"
"I don't know Mary Ann. I don't know that much about farming…"
The brunette laughed. "Well I do and I could teach you. And you are great with animals. I'm sure you would be fine."
"Farmer Gilligan?" The sailor said. "Me?"
Mary Ann smiled. "I'll buy you a straw hat." She said kissing him.
"But where would this farm be? In Kansas? Mary Ann I don't want to leave Skipper…"
"We don't have to live in Kansas. There is plenty of land right here in California. In fact, my dad told me about a place. I was hoping you would go take a look at it with me. It's going to need a lot of work but I think we can make it into a nice home. What do you say?"
"Wow. My own home. Yes I would love to see it!"
"Great." Mary Ann said taking his hand. "Let's go!"
"Now?"
"Yes now. Hurry come on!"
Gilligan followed his fiancé out to her waiting car. He was excited about seeing this place but uncertain about trading his fishing cap for a straw. But for Mary Ann. He would.
