The whole night turned out to be the weirdest ever! Here she was, having dinner with the boy whose eyes she had memorized, whose voice made her shiver, whose lips she couldn't forget, his girlfriend, and her ex boyfriend. That is, without counting her biological mother, her baby sister and her mother's fiancé who in addition was his prince charming's father.

Everyone listened with raw attention how Shelby has bumped into her former student; Rachel tried to laugh at the appropriate moments, glancing from Shelby to Jesse, who was now sitting right beside her, when in her mind everything was a huge mess. She kept sending sidelong looks to Blaine and Michelle. They made such a beautiful couple, oh how she hated them!

Jesse was the vivid image of joy. In the beginning he was glad he had run into her teacher, even more the one who really knew how much talented he was. But then when Rachel became the topic of their conversation, how she was now living with Shelby; he couldn't refuse the opportunity life was giving him. Rachel was the one that got away, his perfect match, almost as talented as him, as driven as him, as passionate as him. She was enticing and he was smitten by her since that day at the library long time ago. Now she was single, so was he. And here she was next to him, pretty as ever, a little distracted, that's true, but it must be the shock, he thought.

"And you two know each other because of Shelby?" Peter asked without knowing the extent of the mistake in his assumption.

"Uhm, no," she began, feeling the intense gaze Blaine was giving her, even without looking at him, even when everybody's eyes were on her "we knew each other through glee competitions. We were rivals, he was Vocal Adrenaline's lead vocalist, and I was New Directions' leader. Besides, I didn't know Shelby at that point" she finished glancing at Blaine.

"We also were boyfriend and girlfriend for a while" Jesse said smiled at Rachel who was now blushing and staring at her hands.

"You were?" Blaine asked almost like a threat. Rachel looked up at that, and she could see his eyes turning a darker shade of green. They were nearly as dark as when he had kissed her, oh how she wished a repeat of that! Rachel was about to respond but Jesse beat her to it, oblivious of the tension between them.

"Yes, we fell in love at first sight almost. We sang together and there was magic, let me tell you. We had our ups and downs, with Finn in the middle, and competitions, we're both passionate when it comes to perform but we were both passionate about the relationship too," he winked at her, "so there was some kind of balance. Also, I was the one to introduce Shelby and Rachel. I left my trace in their lives" Jesse ended up laughing.

"Jesse transferred schools just to be with Rachel here" Shelby said patting her hair with some kind of twinkle in her eyes. Was she trying to set her and Jesse up? Rachel thought as dodged her mother's hand. This was really uncomfortable.

This was hell. He had just broken up with his girlfriend, who was right beside him, and he had to listen to this character talk about his and Rachel's relationship and he could feel his stomach churn at the prospect of them together.

"So why did you break up if you were that good together?" he asked and he winced when he realized the jealousy ringing along the question. He could sense Michelle's eyes; she looked at him with such rapid movement that he was sure she had a whiplash. He also could see Shelby's jaw hanging and hear Rachel's sudden intake of breath.

"I must say that when we were together she didn't have a jealous older brother, so things were easier" Jesse joked and everyone laughed, albeit Rachel's was a nervous one and Blaine just faked a smile.

"So, it's her" Michelle said to Blaine at the airport the same evening. After the awkward moment the afternoon was a trip down memory lane that everyone except Blaine enjoyed.

"What do you mean?" he asked confused about the out of the blue question.

"It's Rachel, the 'someone' you've met" she explained, and suddenly it was all that much out of the blue. He hesitated a moment but once again, he didn't want to lie to her; she deserved the truth.

"Yeah, I don't know how that happen, I didn't see it coming, one moment she tells me that she has a crush on me and the next I can't stop thinking about her. I know it's not about my ego; I spent the first 24 hours making sure of that, she's just so… her." He chuckled. "I'm sorry"

"I understand" she smiled almost pitifully "You know it's going to be weird with the whole thing about your parents marrying each other, right?"

"I know, I've repeated that in my head thousands of times but my mind doesn't seem to grasp it" he shrugged.

"You have to resolve that jealousy too" she joked trying to lift the spirits and show Blaine she wasn't mad at him. He groaned; he still couldn't believe his reaction to Rachel's ex boyfriend.

"I don't know why I said those things! My mouth kept talking and my mind was screaming ABORT, ABORT!" he said and Michelle laughed out loud.

"I know why, you were all green with jealousy!" she kept laughing at him. "Just talk to her, I don't think she's dying to get back together with him" she said once she calmed down again.

"Thanks for the advice Mich, and for coming, I've really missed you" he said hugging her, her flight had been just announced.

"It was good to see you Blaine, don't forget about me!" she said as a goodbye.

"Never" he smiled.

"Why are you really here Jesse?" Rachel asked once they were alone, Blaine gone with Michelle, Shelby, Peter and Beth buying ice cream.

"I bumped into Shelby" he answered.

"I know that, but why are you here? Here in this house. You didn't have to come all the way here" she expanded.

"I just wanted to see you. Last time we met we were in good terms and I miss you Rach… I've heard you're not with Finn anymore" he finished.

"What are you saying Jesse?" she had no frame of mind for what he was trying to tell her. Everything was so complicated.

"I want you to give me another chance" he said approaching her. Rachel said nothing, just stood there as he took his hands in his; she was frozen in the spot.

He kept getting closer to her lips, if she didn't push him, he wasn't going to stop.

"I'm sorry, am I interrupting something?" Blaine said catching this scene when he entered his home.
