The morning after, Lucy felt groggy and disoriented about the night before. Somehow the sunlight shining through her window made everything seem more real, and clean. Almost as if anything that happened before had never happened in the first place. It was an odd feeling, but one that happened very often. She notices that Natsu wasn't in bed with her anymore. She rubbed off the sleep off her eyes and that's when she realized.
Natsu had slept with her.
She had hugged Natsu until they had both given up into sleep. As the thought crawled up her conscience, the heat of her blood began to spread all throughout her face and down into her neck. She brushed it off, reminding herself that they had done nothing sexual or anything of huge sort. She grabbed the white shirt that looked like it had been carelessly thrown on her desk and quickly threw it on. From the size and smell of it she figured it was Natsu's, but she didn't have time to worry of whose shirt she wore, her nose had detected the smell of bacon from the moment she woke.
Once she regained her composure, she walked out of the room following the smell of her favorite food. In the kitchen Natsu was cutting two bagels, still half naked. He was only wearing a pair of grey sweatpants that hung low on his waist. He had no shirt, which gave Lucy a full view of his toned up upper body.
She made her way into the bathroom to brush her teeth, surprisingly Natsu hadn't noticed her, which she guessed was because of the sizzling sound of the bacon. She didn't even bother to look into her mirror, it was routine to so imply wash her teeth and then dress. She didn't bother to dress, and instead continued to pursue her original destination.
She stood behind Natsu for a few seconds until she finally managed to whisper a croaked "Natsu?"
Natsu quickly turned his whole body to Lucy. He had a spreading knife in one hand and cream cheese one the other. He was deffenetly not prepared for what he saw. Lucy was in an oversized white t-shirt, which seemed to be his. He could clearly see the color of hear bra, and it didn't help that Lucy's face was flushed and disoriented, sleep still apparent in her heart shaped face.
Lucy was completely unaware of the up and down stare that Natsu was giving her, her eyes were more focused on the bacon behind Natsu. She simply heard an "oh" come out of Natsu's mouth before he set down whatever was in his hands and made his way around her. "Uh...I need to use the bathroom. You better not eat the bacon Luce, wait for me." Natsu then made his way to the bathroom trying to act nonchalant.
Once in the bathroom he locked the door and washed his face. He didn't know why he'd gotten all flustered around Lucy just now. It wasn't the first time either, it had happened before but this time it was just much more powerful, he had gotten a sudden urge to touch her. Maybe it was the fact that he was wearing his shirt, or that she looked incredibly cute in her just woke up face. He had felt it when he woke up and she was still sleeping next to him. He couldn't even properly go to sleep, all he could think of was Lucy sleeping right next to him. He mentally slapped himself and scorned himself for acting that way towards Lucy. For gods sake she was his friend, he wasn't allowed to feel anything towards her. It could ruin everything, besides he wasn't even sure what he felt. It was probably embarrassment from the night before. That was it, he thought, it was embarrassment from last night. Finally he felt as if he had a hold on himself. And after that pep talk he made his way back to the kitchen.
While Natsu was in the bathroom Lucy was having a mental fight with herself. She was debating whether she should listen to Natsu and no test bacon, or try to sneak at least one strip of bacon before he got back. Eventually she gave in and proceeded to reach for a strip of bacon.
Natsu was entering the kitchen when he saw Lucy reach for a strip of bacon. "That little sneak," he whispered to himself before he lifted his arm and loudly smacked Lucy on her behind. It wasn't soft, or swift, in fact his whole hand wrapped around her buttcheek and slammed into the mound. His eyes followed his hand as it met the fabric of her shorts. He saw as his palm managed to make her buttcheek bounce, and he finally realized that he might have just possibly dug his own grave with that action.
Lucy on the other hand, finally woke from her sleepy state, and turned her head around to meet Natsu's somewhat traumatized expression. In a normal occasion she might have been incredibly pissed, but seeing Natsu's face made everything better. He looked somewhat scared and anxious, and she had no choice but to break into laughter.
"Oh man your face! Natsu... your face ...is priceless," she could hardly speak between laughter, but then she felt the stinging in her behind. "Ouch, that hurt."
Natsu somewhat incredulous began to nervously laugh. Somewhat surprised that he hadn't been killed yet, and he said the only thing in his defense, "I said no bacon?"
Lucy tried to be mad, but his antics were just behind childish, she couldn't find any angry feelings towards Natsu. "I'll get you back Natsu...and I'm taking a piece of bacon."
Natsu couldn't argue, instead he went past Lucy and began to complete their breakfast. "I'm making bagels with cream cheese and bacon, this is what I lived off of until I thought myself to cook."
"It sounds kind of gross," Lucy said as she munched on her slice of bacon.
"Not at all, it is one of the many wonders of this world. Trust me, it will give you life."
Lucy shrugged, not really caring what she ate, as long as she ate. This was typical morning Lucy. She was just never a morning person. She never really was, contrary to what people believed. "Hey Natsu shouldn't you put in a shirt or something? You're starting to act like Grey." She forgot to voice the distraction that his body was.
Natsu smirked, and said, "Well...my shirt is currently being used. So no, I'm fine thank you."
Lucy blushed at his comment, realizing that she had his shirt on, she began to pull it off, but she was stopped by Natsu who shook his head.
"It's fine, besides I'm so accustomed to not wearing a shirt. I lived with a bunch of college boys for a year. Sometimes we forgot we even had shirts."
Lucy whispered, "Oh...ok."

Later in the day after they had finished breakfast and both Lucy and Natsu were acting like their normal selves, Lucy had gone to work. She didn't really see it as a bad thing since the place was surrounded with all kind of books, it served as a bar, cafe and bookstore. She had met Mira's grandpa, which ended up that he wasn't really her grandpa, because she immediately recognized Makarov which was Laxus grandfather, and so that's when Mira explained that she was In fact dating Laxus, and so she had come to calling Makarov grandpa, since he had already accepted her as his granddaughter. And so they had spent about an hour talking about Laxus and Mira's relationship, and how Mira was the only person who could actually control Laxus. Natsu and Lucy had made a mental note that they would tease Laxus about his romance life since he was usually really private about everything,
Since that day Lucy's schedule was mostly made up of noon shifts, but from time to time she had morning shifts. Natsu on the other hand had all afternoon shifts. However for the time being he did as many hours as he could since he was the only cook at the moment. It really felt like they would spend most of their time together. Lucy didn't really mind, she in fact liked spending time with Natsu, sometimes they talked about random stuff, or about social issues, but mostly they tried to catch up.
Since it was morning there weren't many people and Lucy allowed herself the pleasure of grabbing a book to read and cup of coffee (she gave up on trying to lay off the coffee). She felt extremely satisfied with life, somehow having Natsu by her side made everything much better. Natsu on the other hand decided to simply lay his head on the nearest table since there weren't many customers, from time to time he would look over to Lucy who was too deep into her book to notice his glances.
Once again became aware of Lucy's good looks, he noticed how Lucy had began to squint, he could only guess because her sight had become bad from her reading too many books. That was an actual thing, hurting your eyesight from reading too much. She looked extra adorable when reading, it kind of fascinated him, the way in which she completely lost herself when reading. It also irritated him a little, often it was a book that stole her attention from him.
While Natsu was lost in self thoughts, the background music from the cafe was interrupted by the front door opening. Inside walked in a girl who looked much like Lucy, but instead with purple hair and slightly taller. Natsu poked Lucy on the shoulder, letting her know that there was a costumer.
Immediately Lucy bookmarked her book and went to assist the costumer. However the girl was uninterested in Lucy's service and she smiled at Natsu from afar. Lucy figured the girl must have been attracted to Natsu but she tried her best to ignore it and went along to ask the girl, "Hello, welcome can I get you anything?"
The girl had no choice but to turn to Lucy, "Yeah, um actually, listen can I get HIM to take my order? Nothing against you, but I mean...well you know..."
Lucy stood a bit dumbfounded by the girls response, but a little irritated she answered, "Actually I'm real sorry, but he kind of works in the kitchen, it's kind o my job to take your order."
Once Lucy finished her sentence, she had the girls full attention. The girl didn't look like she was about to back down anytime soon. "Yeah I totally understand, but I mean...just this once do me the favor? Please? From girl to girl, like if it was me I would totally help you out."
At that point Lucy was kind of annoyed and surprisingly she said, "Yeah I totally understand, but you see...he's kind of my boyfriend." Once the words were out of her mouth, she couldn't believe herself.
The girl however was a little surprised and had finally given up. She apologized, and placed her order. Once Lucy wrote her order, she walked back to Natsu. She couldn't believe that she had said that, she didn't even know why she had said that. It was weird, she felt weird. In all honesty it freaked her out a little bit.
Natsu was obviously oblivious to Lucy's dilemma. But it haunted Lucy the whole day.
~~~~~~'.'~~~~~~
Weeks had passed since the whole Natsu and boyfriend thing incident. Lucy since then had slightly forgotten about the whole thing, but from time to time she remembered and made a mental note to keep tabs on herself. Though her and Natsu still hanged out and saw each other often, and the word thoughts continued, it wasn't the same as before. She began to feel the pressure of her second year in college. As did Natsu, he realized that college was not as it once was. He found himself drinking large amounts of coffee, and sleeping less hours. And it didn't help that he often found himself staring at Lucy, or thinking about Lucy. It annoyed him a little bit. He didn't really have time for any weirdness, Lucy alone was enough weird.
One night when Natsu was studying for his first exam, he had gone to search for whatever food was available. Once in the fridge he found Lucy's container which basically had her dinner that she usually took with her to work. He realized she must of forgotten it. But then once he looked inside her was saddened by what was inside, it was the saddest dinner he had seen. He then decided to make Lucy a bento box.
It didn't take long for him to prepare the bento box. It was eight in the night, he knew that her break was at eight thirty, and so he hurried to try to reach Lucy on time. It was weird working without her, and him being alone at home by himself. Mira had found another cook, it was an old friend of Makarov's. He was older, and so he worked the night shifts. Lucy however still had to work on regular basis, even though Mira worked as a barista, waitress and cashier, she often found herself in need of help. Lucy was more than happy to comply. Often Natsu had to pick Lucy up when it was too late. Lucy said she could handle walking a few blocks, but Natsu was a little paranoid.
Once Natsu had reached the cafe, he was hit with the sudden laughter and chatter of many people. Even thought he place was meant to be a library sort of cafe thing, around the times of seven through midnight it served more as a bar. If was very social at those hours, and he only guessed in how much stress Lucy and Mira were. He spotted Mira who was carrying back large cups filled with beer. He tried searching for Lucy, but she was nowhere to be found.
Then he heard laughter coming from the spiral staircase. It sounded like Lucy's giggles, but there were also another girls laughter coming mixed with hers. It seemed somewhat familiar, and that's when he turned. First he saw Lucy, who was climbing down the stairs, but it wasn't long before her saw the owner of the second laughter.
A girl in a bob haircut with the similar hair color as Mira's walked right behind Lucy. Natsu felt something pull at his heart and he stood in his spot shocked. At that moment Natsu was immobile. His brain was quickly processing the image of the girl behind Lucy. His mind was trying to understand and make sense of the whole scenerio. Finally he breathed, "Lissana?"
