It was probably a total of two minutes that Natsu continued on to stare at Lucy's form, without moving or saying anything, but it almost felt like eternity.

When his conscience finally decided to make an appearance he still hadn't moved his position, instead he exhaled and asked "Lucy...what...what are we doing?"

Lucy still lost in deep bliss raised herself, leaving all her weight on her elbows. For a moment she didn't know where she was or what she was doing, all she knew that whatever had happened felt so incredibly good. Finally she comprehended Natsu's question, and very timidly answered back, "Well...I'm not very experienced but I'm pretty sure we-"

Before she could finish her sentence Natsu pulled himself off her body and quickly interrupted her, "No I know what we are-I mean I know what was happening, I just...I just don't think we should be doing this."

In contrast as to how her voice had been before, all cheer and flirt; her voice this time came out in a more deflated tone, "Oh." Rejection finally processed, and her elbows started to feel weak, and her eyes started to sting. But her heart, her heart was in a battle between stopping and speeding at an unmeasurable limit. It felt as if her heart had stopped, but she could clearly hear it racing.

Before any of them could say anything else, there was a loud knock on the door. Lucy quickly grabbed a nearby cardigan and pulled it on. Her feet were moving by pure instinct, her mind was still unfolding all the emotions that were soon to hit her.

Once infront of the door she opened it, only to see Levy with a disheveled look and anger tracing her features. She could tell Natsu wasn't anywhere near her, in fact she wouldn't be surprised if he was still in the room. She tried to focus her attention on her good friend, rather than her best friend that he'd rejected her not too long ago.

"Damnit Lucy, I've been calling you for the past hour. Did you forget we have a midterm today? We literally have to be in class in twenty minutes," Levy quickly finished her sentence, leaving her breathless and breathing heavy.

Lucy's eyes went wide, she remembered that she in fact did have a midterm and that if she didn't get to class in the next twenty minutes, her 3.9 GPA would go out the window. Doing her best to push aside the Natsu problem, she scurried through the room in search of clothes.

While Lucy was too preoccupied, Natsu was free to stare at her form. He knew she wouldn't bother with him right now, if he had heard Levy right Lucy would be in a state of pure professionalism. He stayed still sitting on the bed, his eyes following Lucy as she looked for the nearest pieces of clothing. He saw as she picked up one of his shirts, which he was pretty sure was dirty. Then she pulled on her cardigan and her pair of jeans that were carelessly thrown across a corner in the room. Though her hair was messy and pulled into a bun, and her face was dripping with leftover water from her having washed it, she was still the most beautiful being he had the pleasure of laying eyes in. She was so damn perfect. The way she walked and the way a wrinkle formed in between her brows when she panicked or worried. She was perfect all over. For a second he hated himself for not continuing their previous actions, but then he remembered the reason for why he stopped.

Lucy finally looked as if she was ready to go, she grabbed her bag and reached for the pair of glasses she always carried just incase. She was about dash out the room but just as she was about to set foot into the living room, she turned her head over to Natsu. Her eyes questioned him, giving him a chance to rethink his last decision. At the time he didn't realize what she was actually asking, but he guessed she would have stayed if he had asked.

But he didn't. He smiled and wished her good luck. His smile didn't reach his eyes like hiss usual grins did. This time he held himself back from throwing himself at her and holding on to her for his dear life. He had to keep on repeating that this was for them, for their friendship. This was for both of them, he would be strong for both of them.

Finally Lucy turned and hurried out the apartment. Natsu had been obvious with what he wanted. She would respect his decision, because god knew she loved him more than she cared for her selfish desires.

Lucy had finally finished her midterm which she thanked the heavens for being so good in the subject, because if she wasn't she was sure she would have failed. Her mind kept in going back to the morning and to Natsu's face when he wished her good luck. The look he had given her made Natsu seem as if he had grown ten years in the few minutes he she had left him inside the room. While on her way home she kept on thinking of ways on how to approach Natsu. There was always the "we made a mistake, let's laugh it off" tactic. Or she could be honest with him and herself and tell him the truth of how somehow she was kind of maybe in love with him. Or she could attempt to seduce him, somehow. However she figured the first option was the easiest. Before entering the apartment she inhaled deeply and pep talked herself. She would be fine. Everything would be fine.

Once in her apartment she dropped her things and went on the look for Natsu, however she was surprised to find the apartment empty. Natsu didn't have many belongings, but she was sure he always left some shirt draped somewhere. However the room was as clean as when she had lived alone.

Everything hit her like a tower of bricks, she threw herself into the room and opened the drawers that Natsu left his belongings in.

It was empty.

She checked under the bed where he always left his shoes.

There was nothing,

She ran towards the bathroom, praying that she would find his toothbrush. Once in the bathroom, she only saw one; hers.

He left. Natsu had left.

Her knees went numb, and her body limp as her body kneeled and fell into the floor.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~'.'~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The room felt empty, though almost all his friends were there. Natsu had sought shelter at Grey's dorm after he realized that maybe things wouldn't be the same. A,bye he wasn't saving his friendship with Lucy, maybe he had actually ruined any possibility of him ever being around Lucy again.
When Lucy had looked back at him she had plead for him to ask her to stay. He finally understood when he snapped out of his self deceiving act. He had let her walk out, and maybe when she came back she wouldn't ask again.
As for the friendship he thought he as saving, it was lost once he had realized his feelings for her.
And now he had ran away from all responsibility, because he was a coward. He was selfish and cowardly, love had made him into everything he had always despised.
Ok guys! You might all want to kill me after this chapter, I know I would. Anywho, it's a pretty short chapter, but I wanted to get this idea out before it left. I think I know the direction in which I want to take the story into, but I'm open to suggestions from y'all.
Also thanks to NALU0127 for the feedback, it is much appreciated. And as you can see I took your suggestion. And everyone thanks so much for the comments, I don't appriciate all the love, I'm so bad at updating. Sigh, thanks so much guys, it's bc of y'all that I like writing, even if it's just fanfiction lol.
