Hello Kitties!

This is a flashback chapter in which Marshall' s parents meet.

"Penny! Time to go to school!"

"Coming, Heather!"

Penny got out of bed and ran over to her closet. She grabbed the out fit she sat our the night before and ran to the bathroom. After getting ready, she called Finn on the house phone Heather had installed in her room.

"Sup Pen Pen, how goes it?" he said over the phone.

"Awesome, I finally finished up decorating my room with Heather last night." She said.

"Good, you deserve it."

"We still up for ice cream on Saturday?"

"Definitely. You're still important to me Pen. As far as I'm concerned, you're my other sister."

"Thanks Finn."

"Penny!" Heather shouted from downstairs. "Time to go!"

"Gotta go Finn, bye." She said quickly hanging up the phone. She grabbed her book bag and ran downstairs. Heather stood by the door waiting with her purse.

"Ready?" she asked with a smile.

"Ready." Penny said as the walked out of the door.

They walked down to the small breakfast and coffee shop down the street. Heather held her umbrella in her hand, since it was said to rain that afternoon. Penny wore her purple rain boots, since it had also rain the night before. so she jumped in all the puddles. She giggled and laughed about, all the while Heather smiled at her. She never felt so complete and right. She'd done her part by doing right by this child. Penny was so lost and alone until she brought her home. She now had everything a child should have.

They reached the shop and ordered what they usually got. Penny usually got oatmeal with berries on top or a a pancake. Heather got a mocha latte or a parfait.

This was there usual routine. Penny would get ready, call Finn, then they'd head over to the Breakfast Bar. Afterward they'd drop Penny off at school.

"Bye sweetie." Heather said kissing her on the forehead.

"Bye Heather." Penny said hugging her and running inside the school.

Heather walked down to the office, which was just across the street. She walked inside and received her usual "good morning Madam Mayor" or "hello" 's. She walked into he office and collapsed in her chair.

Her assistant walked into the room, adjusting her glasses and shuffling her clipboard and notes in her hands.

"Good morning Hilary." She said sipping on her coffee. How was your weekend?"

"Um, good, ma'am." She said with a nerdy voice. Heather looked at her and silence filled the air for a spilt second. Then they both burst out laughing.

"How was your weekend Heather?" Hilary said sitting in the chair across from her.

"Wonderful, yours?"

"Pretty good. I finally got down and dirty with the guy at the bar." She said wiggling her brows.

"Hilary one day you're gonna catch something." Heather scolded.

"I know, I know. But it just...just feels so good to finally have some fun whenever I want." She said. "You could use some boy toying time yourself."

"I can't, Hil. I've got kids."

"Had, may I remind you that Marshall Lee moved out?"

"Yes, but Penny-"

"Just take one night out at the bar. If you hate it, dint do it anymore. If you love it, you have to do it every Friday for a month."

"But who'll-"

"Finn can take Penny for the night. It wouldn't kill you for some girl time."

Heather thought about this. "I never had girl time when Marshall lived with me."

"You never spent time with him either." Hilary added.

"I wasn't a very good parent back then, was I?"

"Not really."

"But where did I go wrong?" Heather asked thinking out loud.

"Well lets see. He's a punk rock teenager in a band, has a dangerous rep, you signed him up for therapy last week, much to his disdain, h lost his father, and let's not forget, you want him to grow up and be just like him." Hilary said. "Oh, and you practically said that you wish that he wasn't born to his face."

"I didn't mean it. Besides that, you're right. I'm a control freak."

"You were a control freak. Now you're Heather! The strong. loving, caring, motherly mother!" Hilary said in a profession tone.

"You're right. I'll go out for the night. On Friday, that is." She added. "But first I need to call someone."

"Who?" Hilary asked.

"I'll tell you later. Just give me a second alone."

Hilary left the room with a nod and a bit of suspicion. Heather dialed the number and waited as the phone rang. Then they finally answered.

"Hello?"

"Hey, Marshy hon. How are you?"

"Mom, what do you want? I'm busy."

"What are you doing?"

"Well, there's this thing called college. Summer ended two weeks ago, Mom."

"Yes, I am aware. Listen I just wanted to say something that couldn't wait til after school."

*sighs* "Make it quick."

"I just wanted to say I'm sorry."

Silence. "For what?"

"For the wretched and lonely childhood I put you through. You didn't deserve it."

Silence for a few minutes. "Marshall? Are you still there."

"Yeah...yeah I'm still here." He said.

"So you forgive me."

"Yeah, I forgive you."

"Wonderful, and about therapy-"

"You signed us both up for Thursday's after school. I know."

"You're not upset?"

"I was pissed at first. But then Fionna told me that it would do us better to get rid of the water flooding our relationship."

"She's a good girl Marshall. Don't toy with her like all the others."

"I'm not, ma. I can handle this."

"Alright, hon. That's all I wanted."

"Okay, I'll see you Thursday."

"Alright."

"Cool, bye."

She sat with the phone pressed to her ear long after he hung up. He reminded her so much of Marshall.

Los Angeles Friday,1993:

She couldn't keep her eyes off of him. He was perfect. He sat at the bar with a few friends surrounding him. She danced to the music with her friends, but kept her eyes trained on him. He was all the man she'd been dreaming of.

His eyes were a peet bog brown that complimented his flipped black hair. He wasn't buff, yet he wasn't lanky. He was just in between and tall.

He laughed at a joke the red head said and turned his head towards the dance floor. His eyes met Heather' s, causing her to blush profoundly. She looked away for a second and looked at him from the corner of her eye. His eyes remained on her. She met his watchful gaze once more. He nodded his head at her and gave her the most dazzling smirk she'd ever seen before in her life. She smiled in a "I'm to good for you" kind of way to be sure she had his attention. He raised a brow and mouthed "Really?" in a sarcastic way. She nodded and before she knew it, he was crossing the back over to her on the dance floor. He smiled at her again and looked her up and down.

"What's your name?" he asked. She stopped dancing and cocked her head to the side with a smile.

"Heather Demojin." She said.

"Like Mayor Demojin?" he asked.

"He's my father." She said over the music. He lead her over to the bar and they sat down together.

"Well, well. Fancy much?" he teased.

"Please, I'm not planning on being mayor until he's dead. Which will be a while." She said. "I don't want it anyway."

"What do you want? If you don't mind me asking?"

"I don't really know." She said with a giggle, causing him to laugh with her.

"I know what you want." He said. She looked at him with a smile.

"And what is that? Mysterious bar guy?"

He smiled at her and brushed a strand of hair from her face so he could look deep into her green eyes. "You want something that will make you feel alive. Something that will make all of your emotions pour out of you. Something that will make you feel like heaven on earth and that will deliver you, from something you never really wanted." He said in a deep husky voice. "Someone who will carry you away to your happily ever after."

She sat there looking into his deep eyes and felt it. That spark she'd read many times in romance books and always thought was fake. At only eighteen, she'd dated many boys, but no one was like him. That little tiny spark was there.

And it ignited her.

Just like that she was hooked on him. And boy was she looking forward to seeing where it will take her.

Ten minutes later they entered his house drunk and disoriented. He kissed her passionately like he'd done many times before during the ride there. They entered his bedroom in a mess of kisses and moans. She slipped off her dress and he took off his shirt. They went back at it. Him kissing her hungrily until they fall onto his bed. He kissed along her jaw line and neck, Heather letting moans escape her. He uncooked her bra and slipped out of his pants and boxers. She took off her panties and breathed heavily as they continued kissing each other. His groin rubbed against her thigh and she felt like she was being teased. She realized that all this time, he was waiting for permission. Such a gentleman.

"Do it." She breathed against his lips. She felt bliss in his embrace and felt it shocking pain as he slid inside of her. She stifled back a slow cry, but found that the pain was over. Now it felt like heaven. Their hips formed together and rocked in perfect sink. The last she remembered was her muttering the words "I love you." in more of a slurry tone.

Heather woke up in the softest bed she'd ever been in. The sun shined through the curtains signalling it was morning. She inhaled deeply and the scent of apples and sandalwood met her nose.

Her eyes opened in surprise and realized someone's arms are wrapped around her in a sweet and cold embrace. She didn't hate the feeling, but she just couldn't recall who was holding her.

She turned around and saw the man from last night. He looked younger asleep. She noticed the slight stubble on his chin and smiled. She snuggled back into his arms and nuzzled her head into his chest. His skin was soft and offered safety. Yep, she was fine in his arms.

She immediately shot up in bed and looked in the mirror on the wall across from the bed. She looks around the room and realized she wasn't in her's. She was in a complete stranger's bedroom and couldn't remember how she'd gotten there. She looked down at him and immediately felt scared. Had he raped her? No, he was to good looking and...and he was so sweet to her at the bar and-

"Oh God I'm screwed!" she said when she realized that they were both completely naked. She looked over at him and got out of bed quietly. She walked slowly towards the door with her eyes trained on the bed. She reached the door and turned the knob, then glanced at the bed. It was vacant of him. She turned around and realized he was right beside her. Startled, she screamed her head off and ran over to his bed. Shielding her body the whole way.

"Heather! Calm down!" he shouted. She threw a pillow at him and he dodged it.

"Why the hell did you violate my privacy like that!? You freakin drugged me and lured me into your home and-"

"What!? No, you insisted that we should come here. Last night I planned to take you home since you were completely buzzed."

"What about you, huh? Why did you drive here if you were drunk yourself."

"Because it takes a lot of beer to get me drunk."

"So why are we naked if you didn't rape me!?"

"Because of hormones, I guess. You wanted me and I wanted you, so we..." He crossed his fingers and gave a half reassuring smile.

"What we- I've never..." She looked in the mirror. "I was a virgin. I'd never..." Her bottom lip trembled as she started sobbing. "I was saving myself for my wedding! I feel so dirty!" she sobbed. He slipped on his boxers and handed her her clothes. "Thank you."

"You're welcome." She looks up into his warm caring eyes. A thought occurred to her and she laughed as she got dressed.

What?" he asked.

"You know, after all of that I...I never caught your name." She said with a smile. A smile he hadn't seen since last night.

"It's best you don't know." He said slipping on his pants.

"Why is that?"

"Because you might call the cops on me."

She laughed at him and shoved him playfully."I'm serious."

"I think I'll tell you when I see you next Friday at the bar." He said with a smirk.

"How do you know I'll be there?" She asked.

"Because you want to see me again." He said in a deep sultry voice and he pressed his lips against hers. She kissed him back slowly and nipped at his bottom lip. He pulled away an met her eyes. "We need to get you home." He said moving back and grabbing a black shirt from his closet.

A few minutes later, they drove down to the Mayor's house. Luckily he was out on a two week business trip, so she was alone for a while. After a kiss goodbye, she walked inside of her home as he drove off. She felt her phone buzz and pulled it out of her pocket. It was a text from an unknown number.
