Hey guys I am so terribly sorry for the wait and I hope you guys will forgive me. I finally got a laptop and I am also in college now which means my time is never my own. Rin I sat in the umpire seat waiting for Kohaku. I felt butterflies in my stomach. I smoothed my black dress out one more time when I saw a shadow stretched across the floor. I became so excited, I could see the shadow of the champagne bottle as well as the glasses. I turned to the doorway to greet him, " hello-" I looked back down at the floor. It was Sesshomaru. My cheeks burned. " Kohaku won't be able to make it. He had a bit of an accident on his way here." I stared intently at the floor. "He sent me with his apologies I hope you don't mind." "Should I go to him? W-will he be okay?" " he will be quite fine, I assure you, I would imagine the doctor has begun stitching him up." I knew I must have looked even more worried at this. "Rin, I promise you he will be home tomorrow, you will be more than welcome to see him then." I glanced down at my feet then back up at Sesshomaru as he poured the champagne. I gave an unconvincing little smile and Sesshomaru gave a ghost of a smile. He knew my affections for his cousin and still he stood here offering me champagne. I felt a bit embarrassed. I had gotten my hopes up so high for this evening. I should have known that the only attention I would receive from Kohaku would be quick and unfulfilling. I would just let this pass I knew Kohaku would never be mine. I just wanted this. But what good is just a fleeting glance of what you know you can't have. I sighed and sipped my champagne. " You wanted him to dance with you, did you not?" Sesshomaru's stoik tone roused me from my thoughts. i blinked at him, " I suppose I did want him to dance with me tonight, but I am trying my best not to be too disappointed." At that I looked down at my drink when he took it from my hand and set it on the ground. "For the evening a dance with me will have to suffice," He took my hand and placed it on his shoulder and held my other hand in his own while his other hand rested on my waist. I would imagine this was just my brain playing tricks on me but it sounded like Sesshomaru was purring . It was a deep resonant sound that seemed to be in every corner of the room. " would you expect to have received a kiss?" He practically purred the words in my ear. I closed my eyes and laid my head on his shoulder, "I suppose I might have if the evening went in such a way that it would be appropriate." After say what seemed to be a very stupid line I raised my head and looked away from him. I contemplated why the universe had chosen to make me its personal punching bag but we stood there swaying. As time went by and we just rocked. I thought that the evening couldn't get any weirder. I turned my head towards him to bid him goodnight then our lips met.
