After the close call with his grandfather, Gregory decided to make the phone call he wouldn't have had to make in the first place if he hadn't been such an idiot.

"What do you want, Gregory?" Katherine asked him. She sounded more worn down than anything else, a fact that surprised him.

"You being gone has really done a number on me," Gregory confessed. "I-I killed so much that it got me a visit from my grandfather. When he showed up at the door, I thought that meant the end for me."

"You've been killing again? Really?" Katherine asked, trying not to sound too interested. "Not that that will make me want to come back, but at least I'll be able to have very sexy dreams about you tonight. The you in my head is way better than you you are right now."

Gregory sighed. "You're probably right about that," he said. "I just…I thought you'd wanna know. Goodbye, Katherine. I'm sorry my behavior made us have to separate like this, but…if you ever decide you want to come back, I'll be waiting for you."

"Well, thank you for telling me," Katherine replied. "And thank you for apologizing."

"You're welcome," Gregory replied. "Goodbye, Katerina."

He then ended the call and Katherine stomped her foot and growled in anger as she tried to ignore the desire that had swirled through her body when he said her name the way he always did. She then took some of the little bottles from the mini bar, drank them, and tried to get some sleep.

Gregory's latest phone call had had more sincerity in it than he'd shown in a while, so even though she'd not been gone half as long as she felt he deserved to be without her, against her better judgment, Katherine decided to pay her husband a little visit, but nothing permanent yet, of course. Besides, the hotel bed she was sleeping on was starting to feel uncomfortable, and she'd already eaten her way through all the people who brought room service. Without calling ahead to tell Gregory she was coming, she put a pair of panties and some lingerie in her purse, throwing it in the trunk of her car, and driving to her house where she parked in the driveway, dressed as quickly as she could, then knocked on the door. When Gregory answered and his jaw dropped to the floor, she chuckled. "Hello, lover," she said, striking a pose. "Miss me?"

Gregory kept babbling nonsense which made Katherine laugh. She took hold of his tie, led him to the kitchen and pushed him into a kitchen chair, unzipping his pants and then slipping off her panties and kicking them under the kitchen table before she straddled him on the chair and kissed him deeply.

"Miss me?" She repeated as she kissed every bit of skin she could get her lips on.

"Yes," Gregory nodded as she ran her fingers through his hair and nibbled on his neck. She unbuttoned his shirt and ran her hands over his chest as he reached out and cupped his hands around her breasts. "I'm sorry, Katherine," he said, breathlessly, cupping her butt with his hands as she shifted position and tingles shot through his body. "I'm sorry. You don't know how sorry I am."

"I might not know exactly," Katherine replied. "But I know how much you should be sorry for treating me like that! Just what were you thinking?"

"I was thinking that the fighting between you and my sister was really starting to wear on me, and that I didn't want to have to spend all of Elizabeth's wedding keeping the two of you apart," Gregory replied. "Not that that excuses what I did, of course, but it seemed like the right thing to do at the time, even though it was wrong and all it did was screw things up between us."

"Yes, yes it did," Katherine nodded. "And has this experience taught you to be nicer to me?"

"Yes," Gregory nodded. "Do you promise you'll be nicer to my sister from now on, and not just on special occasions?"

"This is not a situation where you get to negotiate, mister," Katherine replied, putting a finger on his lips to close them. "You either want me here or you don't. I can leave very easily."

"No, no, no!" Gregory replied and picked her up to carry her to bed. "I want you here. You're not allowed to leave!" When they reached the bedroom, he lay her down on the mattress and then undressed the rest of the way before climbing into bed with her and giving her a kiss. "I missed you," he said. "I love you."

"Do you really?" Katherine asked, massaging his wrist in a circling motion with her finger before she brought it up to her lips and bit down.

Gregory gave a grunt of pain but tried to stay still and not pull away as she greedily sucked his blood. When she finally pulled away, a smile on her face as blood dripped down her chin, she said, "You're a lot tastier than the room service guys at the hotel. And I don't have to make you forget what I just did, either. That's the best part."

Gregory then smiled at her, leaned forward, and sank his fangs into her neck while pushing into her. She let out a shriek and clung to him with all her might as he drank. By the time he finished, her head was on his shoulder. "Just like old times, Katerina," he told her. "Were you missing that?"

Katherine nodded and sat up so she could look into his eyes more easily. "I really was." They then fell back onto the mattress and kissed again, and at that moment, things were good.

When Katherine woke up again, she noticed that the space on the mattress beside her was empty. She looked around called out for her husband, but got no response.

"Damn it, Gregory," she swore under her breath. "With all that talking we did earlier, I thought you weren't gonna leave!" She got out of bed and began putting her clothes on again when he bedroom door opened and she looked up.

"Damn, you're awake!" Gregory said. "I was hoping you'd sleep the entire time I was gone."

"Why, so you could just skip out on me like a coward and I wouldn't be able to stop you?" Katherine yelled. "I thought you changed! Or was that easy manner of yours back just so you could get me into bed?"

"No," Gregory said patiently. "It was actually so I could surprise you with these flowers, but you think what you want."

Katherine then watched him produce a vase of a dozen deep red roses that she hadn't noticed before and put them on the dresser, along with a card. Katherine smelled the flowers and opened the card, which basically had Gregory apologizing by calling himself every synonym for 'idiot' that he could think of, all alphabetized.

Gregory bounced on his heels while he waited for her reaction and tried not to meet her eyes. "Well?" He asked finally. "What do you think?"

Katherine smiled and came to kiss his cheek. "Well, it's a start," she said. "You keep this up and there could be hope for you yet."

Gregory heard this, let her put the flowers down, and took her in his arms again, kissing the top of her head and promising himself that after what they'd both been through, he'd never let her get away again.

"I hope Gregory's gonna be okay," Selina told Elijah. "Do you think maybe we sent him away too early?"

"No," Elijah said firmly. "You did what you had to do, even though it was hard, and I'm proud of you."

Selina sighed. "Thank you," she said. "I know I did the right thing. He's an adult and he has to run his own life. I need to keep telling myself this."

"Why is that?" Elijah asked. "Why can't you just believe it?"

"Well, you and I know that he's more like you, but we've never seen him be dumped before. For all I know, he could handle it like me! Then it would be our fault for setting him loose on an innocent populous!"

"Oh, don't be ridiculous!" Elijah replied. "Gregory is much too sensible to let his emotions rule him that way."

"I don't know," Selina replied. "Right after we sent him away, I saw on TV that there was this spate of horribly violent murders. What if it was him?"

Elijah was patient. "If it were him, my father would have called to tell us. We've heard nothing. You have nothing to worry about."

"Would you-would you call him?" Selina asked. "Please? I want to hear from him that everything is fine. Not that I don't find your reassurances good, but-"

"Oh, all right," Elijah replied. He called Mikael while Selina bit her nails and nervously tapped her foot on the kitchen floor.

"What is it, Elijah?" Mikael asked after a few rings.

"Have you had to deal with Gregory committing murders lately?" Elijah asked. "He's been upset lately and Selina is worried that that's how he's dealing with his anger."

"As a matter of fact, yes," Mikael replied. "I did have to pay Gregory a visit. He's not as skilled as your wife, but he's getting very close."

"What do you mean you had to have a talk with Gregory?" Elijah asked. "How could you not tell us?"

Selina heard this, jumped up, and snatched the phone out of Elijah's grip. "Now you listen to me," she told Mikael, her voice shaking. "As you know, I do not give a flying fuck about how powerful you are. If you killed my son without at least giving me a chance to say goodbye, I'm gonna make you very sorry!"

"You couldn't do that, really," Mikael replied. "No matter how tough you think you are, all you can do is make threats as long as you don't have Elijah's help. However, it's not necessary. I went to talk to Gregory and came away with the idea that what he did was just in the heat of the moment and he has no intention of having the behavior continue. As such, he is still very much alive."

Selina let out a breath and said, "Thank you, I guess. And I'm sorry." She then handed the phone back to Elijah before making a beeline to the library for some peace, quiet, and solitude before her mouth could get her in any more trouble.

"Gregory and I are back together," Katherine told Laura. "I just thought you'd wanna know that."

"I'm happy for you," Laura replied as she sat in the salon chair trying to decide what color to make her hair since she hadn't colored it since before Charlie and Elizabeth's wedding. "What'd he do to lure you back? Or did you just decide to take pity on him?"

"I was originally just gonna have some fun and then leave to go back to the hotel I'd been staying at," Katherine replied. "But then, when I saw your brother, he seemed so repentant and so much more like he used to be, that I thought it wouldn't hurt to give him another chance."

"I guess that means I have to back off, right?" Laura asked.

"Well, not necessarily," Katherine replied. "But just know that I think your brother has finally learned to side with me in our arguments and not you, so you can think about that before starting something."

"I guess that's the way it should be," Laura admitted. "And I'm sure I have better things to do with my time than pick fights with you."

"I'm sure you do," Katherine replied. "Anything interesting happen while I was gone?"

"Well, Edward and I are just waiting for the day Eli tells us he has a girlfriend," Laura replied.

"Why?" Katherine asked. "What's the rush?"

Laura sighed. "The only other woman he's shown interest in is my mom's friend Rebecca, and she's much too old for him at the moment."

"Oh," Katherine nodded. "Okay. Wow, you'd think a kid named after your father would have more success with girls."

"I know," Laura replied. "But he inherited his father's awkwardness rather than Daddy's suaveness, so that gets in the way. Although he's not a bad-looking kid at all."

Just then, there was a sound of thundering down the stairs again, but this time it was Charlie and Elizabeth, who strode up to Katherine at the desk and Elizabeth got out, "Mom, I know you're mad at Daddy right now, but he's gone nuts and you have to do something! He's killing people cause he misses you!"

"Oh, don't worry," Katherine told her daughter. "I've dealt with your father. He won't have any more problems."

"You have?" Elizabeth said in surprise. "I was expecting to have to push you some more."

"Well, you don't have to," Katherine replied. "You can stop being worried and go back to whatever it was you were doing before you got freaked out and ran down here."

"Good," Elizabeth replied. "Okay."

"I guess that means we'll have time to get those matching tattoos after all," Charlie said. "This is good news all around."

"Matching tattoos?" Katherine narrowed her eyes at Elizabeth. "I just got your father done with one tantrum. If he sees you have a tattoo, young lady, all my hard work will be ruined!"

"Oh, don't worry!" Elizabeth replied. "I plan to have it somewhere Daddy's not gonna see it. Ever. Just Charlie and me."

"You have good instincts," Katherine said.

"Have fun, you two!" Laura called. Then, she waited. "What?" She told Katherine after a few seconds. "No berating me for having a son who's such a bad influence on your daughter?"

"Well, as long as I don't have to deal with the fallout from her father, I don't care how many tattoos Elizabeth gets," Katherine replied. "I've even been thinking of getting one myself, just to see the look on Gregory's face. What do you think?"

"I think if you do that, I'll need a picture when you show Gregory," Laura replied with a smile.

"You should go with green," Katherine said, coming to stand behind the chair. "You haven't put green in your hair in a while."

"I didn't think of that!" Laura replied. "Thank you!"

"You're welcome," Katherine replied as Laura hopped out of the chair to prepare for her next client.
