"I didn't mean to drink so much the other day," Selina told Elijah. "I'm sorry. I just kept thinking it would be like when Roxie had her pregnancy scare and it freaked me out."

"Oh, don't worry," Elijah replied and pulled her on to his lap. "I thought it was more adorable than anything. Especially when you blurted out Ethan's secret to me because you thought I was someone else."

"I did?" Selina asked. "Well, damn. I hope Ethan won't be too mad at me for that."

"You did," Elijah nodded and kissed her lightly. "You told me not to tell myself what you were saying. I wonder, with whom did you think you were actually speaking?"

"I have no idea," Selina replied. "I don't remember. But thanks for being such a good sport about it anyway. And being nice to Ethan, too."

"Of course," Elijah replied. "The fact that he came and told me about what transpired between himself, and didn't wait for me to hear it from someone else or lie to me about it was a good move on his part."

"That's what he said when I offered to tell you for him," Selina replied. "He said something to the effect of 'This is my thing and I need to be the one to tell Daddy about it, not you'."

"He's a very smart boy," Elijah acknowledged. "Very smart."

"He is," Selina nodded. "And I'm very pleased that you allowed him time to show you that instead of just allowing yourself to get so bogged down by the fact that he's gay that you couldn't get close to him."

Elijah sighed. "It's taken experience with several children to get me that way, hasn't it?" He asked.

"Yes, but don't blame yourself," Selina replied. "I mean, look at your father; it takes a lot of time to break free of habits created by a guy like that. I don't blame you."

"But your mother was just as intolerant and awful and look at you," Elijah smiled. "Then again, I have met your father. Maybe that's my answer right there. Your father was your saving grace."

"Yeah," Selina nodded. "In a lot of ways, he is." She cleared her throat. "Are you going to be able to manage things by yourself today?" She asked. "I'm taking Lucy, Roxie, and Adrian to meet my dad. And don't worry; Klaus isn't gonna be there. It'll just be me and the kids."

"I wasn't worried about that," Elijah responded. "But thank you for telling me anyway. Yes, I'll be fine. You go have fun and tell your father I said 'Hello'."

"All right," Selina promised and got up from Elijah's lap. "I will."

"I want to apologize for how I acted before we went to Roxie's," Jeffrey told Ethan after he got off his bike and they were walking toward school and a waiting Lisa. "I know I was being jealous and possessive and pushy and you didn't deserve that."

"Well, thank you," Ethan replied.

"You're welcome," Jeffrey nodded. "So…you're still getting that car?"

"Of course," Ethan replied. "That's the whole point of my getting a job."

"Will you still ride the bike with me sometimes after you get it?" Jeffrey asked.

"Sure," Ethan nodded. "I will. I promise."

"All right," Jeffrey nodded. "I think I can live with that. Now, about what you and I did at Roxie's…have you told your parents yet?"

"Yes," Ethan nodded. "I told them."

"And what did they say?" Jeffrey asked. "How much trouble are you in?"

"None," Ethan shrugged. "Since I was honest about it, they didn't yell at me at all." He paused. "Why? Did your parents yell at you when you told them?"

"No," Jeffrey shook his head. "But I thought that with your dad being the way he is, he wouldn't react well to the news."

"You would think," Ethan replied. "But I have a bisexual uncle that my dad has spent a lot of time with, so it's not like he's never been around a gay person. And my aunt's bisexual too."

"Wow, it sounds like you come from quite the family," Jeffrey replied with a smile. "I never would have guessed."

"I know, right?" Ethan asked. "It's kind of great. And as for us having sex…I'm glad we did it if it made you feel better about us."

"It wasn't that I didn't trust you before-" Jeffrey began before Ethan cut him off. "You don't have to explain yourself," he said. "I understand completely. You thought that my job with my dad would mean I was pulling away from you. Maybe even selling out."

"Yeah," Jeffrey nodded. "But now that I know how surprisingly tolerant your dad is, I don't have to worry anymore."

"No," Ethan shook his head. "But, if you're ever worried, you can tell me, you know. We can talk. I don't mind."

"Okay," Jeffrey nodded. "I'll remember that."

"What are you two talking about?" Lisa smiled as she reached them.

"Nothing," Jeffrey replied. "Just some relationship stuff."

"Good," Lisa replied. "Cause I would hate to see the two of you break up."

"Yeah," Ethan nodded as he and Jeffrey followed Lisa into school. "Me too."

By lunch, Jeffrey had come to a decision that he just had to share with Ethan. "Do you think that if I asked Roxie for a job, she'd give me one? Then we'd both have the money to take each other on really nice dates."

"Well, you're the sort of person that her bar is exclusively meant for," Ethan said, not saying the word 'werewolf' flat out cause he realized Lisa was listening cause she was right across the table from him. "So you've passed the first hurdle. Second, she knows you, so she'd not have to worry about what sort of person you were, plus I would back you up, of course. And third, one of the bus boys just quit, so she will have a job opening available. I think you should give it shot."

"Me too," Jeffrey smiled. "Can you come with me to talk to her after school? Or are you busy? Don't worry if you are. I can go by myself."

"No, I think I'm off today," Ethan told him and put a supportive hand on his back. "I'll be more than happy to come with you."

"Thanks," Jeffrey replied, and gave him a kiss even while Lisa was watching. "You're really great, you know that?"

"Well, I try," Ethan replied. "I might not always come through, but I try."

"We have to make one stop before I drop you off at home," Vivi told Eli as they drove away from school.

"Okay," Eli agreed. "Where are we going?"

"To Rebecca's," Vivi said. "I need to have a talk with her."

Eli felt unease in the pit of his stomach, but let Vivi drive him to Rebecca's without a word. She parked in the driveway and told him to stay in the car cause all she needed to do was talk to Rebecca really fast. He stayed put and watched as she headed up the steps and rang the doorbell, then when Rebecca answered the door, she grabbed her, wrestled her to the ground and sank her fangs into her neck, sucking greedily until Eli thought Rebecca was dead.

"Stop! Stop!" He cried as he got out of the car and tried to pull Vivi off the woman he loved. "You're crazy! I don't want you to pretend to be my girlfriend anymore!"

"Fine," Vivi replied. "Whatever." She stopped feeding and when Eli tried to give Rebecca blood, Vivi zapped her away. "Let's see how King likes having his girlfriend be nearly dead on his doorstep!" She laughed. And laughed. And laughed. And all Eli could do was stare and shake his head before running off to rescue Rebecca and hoping he wasn't too late.

When he reached King's house, Eli saw that he was just in time. He strode up to King, who was staring at Rebecca's body in shock as he knelt on the step and held her.

"We need to give her blood and quick," he said. "Do you want to do it, or should I?"

"How the fuck did this happen?" King asked. "Do you know, Poindexter?"

"As a matter of fact, I do," Eli nodded. "Apparently, you did something to piss Vivi off and now she's taking her revenge."

"Oh, fuck!" King cried. "She's still upset about the damn picture that I sent her along with the e-mail. Is that it? Cause I was drunk when I did that!"

"Perhaps," Eli replied and cut his wrist, letting some dribble into Rebecca's mouth and hoping that she wasn't too weak to swallow. "But now isn't the time to talk about it. Now we have to focus on getting Rebecca stable."

"Why would you come all the way over here to help her?" King asked. "I mean, I know why I would: she's my sister after all, but why would you?"

"Because I love her," Eli replied. "And maybe if you'd admitted the same thing to yourself about Vivi, you wouldn't be in this situation."

King didn't reply to this remark as he watched Eli save the life of the woman he loved, taking in the look on Eli's face when Rebecca began showing signs of life, when he hugged her because he knew she wasn't going to die after all. And King knew that he should feel that way about Vivi. But for some reason, he just couldn't make it happen. At least not now. Maybe someday later, though. When he was a little older, a little wiser, and strong enough to release himself from the hold his father had on him.
