Enjoy~
chapter 22
With gradation right around the corner, school had grown hectic. There was much work to be done, many grades to keep up. It left Izaya very busy during the day, leaving Shizuo in the hands of Shinra or Celty, sometimes Kasuka, and sometimes Izaya's family. Shizuo didn't complain about that, but he did miss his time with Izaya. There was only a few weeks until the school year ended, time Shizuo wished he could spend with Izaya.
But Izaya was busy, he knew this, so he didn't complain very much. It was a good time for him to spend time with Shinra, which he was currently doing.
He leaned back into the couch, sighing softly as he watched Shinra and Celty play their usual racing game. Shinra was loosing, yelling at the TV in a vain attempt to urge his virtual car to go faster. Shizuo smiled a bit. "You're loosing."
"Shut up!" Shinra whined, tossing his controller aside and hanging his head. "She always wins!"
Celty held up her PDA slowly.
You owe me money now.
"I know!" Shinra huffed, looking over at Shizuo sourly. "Next time don't let me play!"
Shizuo chuckled softly. "You wanted to do it, man; I won't stop you."
Shinra sighed, standing from the couch. "Want something to drink?"
"Soda," Shizuo nodded.
Shinra nodded curtly before leaving, Shizuo turning to glance at Celty. The headless woman was typing on her PDA, holding it out to him.
How have you been?
Shizuo shrugged. "Fine, I guess."
Everything with Izaya ok?
Shizuo shrugged again. "Yeah, he's just been busy with end of the year stuff. Studying for his last exams, calling the university and getting things there planned out."
The woman's shoulders made a shrugging motion.
You two don't talk much about him leaving?
"Not really," Shizuo murmured, glancing up as Shinra walked in. He took the soda offered to him and looked back at Celty. "It's something we both agreed not to bring up right now...mostly because we both know I'll work myself up over it."
"We don't want that," Shinra nodded slowly, opening his can of soda. He took a long drink before clearing his throat. "But...you two can't ignore it all summer, either...summer is right around the corner, Shizuo...and then it's only a few months until he leaves."
Shizuo glanced at his lap, nodding slowly. "I know...I don't...plan on ignoring it all summer but...I just know I'll freak out...you know? I mean i just moved in with him and suddenly he's leaving...how can a relationship like that last? That's such a far distance..."
"Webcam," Shinra cut in with a smile.
Celty held up her PDA.
Calling, texting, holiday visits...
"That wouldn't be enough for me," Shizuo whispered, frowning at his soda can before looking away. "...I know how I am . I'm stupid...and needy. At this point...just hearing him and not touching him...not feeling him next to me...it wouldn't be enough for me."
Shinra frowned a bit before sighing softly. "...I feel kind of bad."
Shizuo, confused by the statement, looked over at his friend. "Bad? For what?"
"I introduced you two," Shinra began with a small chuckle. "Don't get me wrong, I love that you two make each other happy and everything but...you two will also be feeling bad too...and sad so I feel kind of bad about that...like we could have avoided a lot of pain if I hadn't-"
"Shinra, shut the fuck up," Shizuo sighed, standing.
Shinra flinched, laughing nervously as the blonde walked across the living room to him, yanking him into a standing position. "Sh-Shizuo-"
"Shut up," Shizuo said again, bringing his friend into a hug. Shinra blinked once. Twice. Then a third time. Shizuo was hugging him? What ever for? The blonde took a deep breath, hugging Shinra a bit tighter. "Meeting Izaya was one of the best things to ever happen to me...just like...becoming your friend was."
Shinra jerked, eyes wide and an embarrassed blush on his cheeks. "Wh-wha...?"
"You're a great friend," Shizuo stepped back, blushing himself, and clearing his throat. "You've...kept me from doing...a lot of stupid shit so...yeah...don't blame yourself for anything or I'll kick your ass."
Shinra smiled softly, unused to the praise the normally apathetic blonde was giving him. He laughed, punching Shizuo lightly in the arm. "You're going soft on us, man. The hells up with that?"
Shizuo huffed, smirking a little as he shrugged, turning and walking towards the door. "I'll see you guys around."
"Walk safe!" Shinra yelled, waving frantically.
Shizuo left the house, coming to Izaya's home not too long after. Izumi was on the couch with Ren, Izaya's father, Kururi and Mairu lying in their laps. Ren smiled his way. "Welcome home."
"Hey," Shizuo nodded, slipping his shoes off. "Is Izaya still studying?"
Izumi nodded. "Yes, he asked to be left alone for another hour."
Shoes half off, Shizuo paused. He thought for a moment before looking at Kururi and Mairu. "You girls wanna go get ice cream? Give mommy and daddy some free time?"
"Yeah!" Both girls gasped, launching up and running up the stairs to fetch their shoes.
Ren and Izumi smiled towards Shizuo, Izumi shaking her head slowly. "Thank you, Shizuo. You sure you can handle them both?"
"Yeah, no problem," Shizuo nodded, putting his shoes on once again. "Besides, they probably have a ton of energy to let out and Izaya might turn into a bear if they get too loud, right?"
Ren snickered. "Yeah, pretty much."
Shizuo smiled and ran a hand through his hair. "I won't load them up on sugar, I promise."
"Better not," Izumi smiled. "I'll have to ground you."
Shizuo gave a small smile, running a hand through his hair again and leaning back against the wall. Ren glanced at him before frowning slightly. "...You know, you don't look so good. You sure you don't want to go upstairs and be with Izaya?"
"I don't want to distract him," Shizuo replied quickly, shaking his head. "He'll probably be done by the time the girls and I get back, so it's fine."
As if on cue, Kururi and Mairu came running back down stairs, clinging to Shizuo with wide smiles. "Ready!"
Shizuo nodded, opening the door and leading the girls out. "Hold my hands; the streets are busy."
The girls took the blonde's hands, both grinning widely. Kururi tugged lightly at Shizuo's hand to get his attention. "Are you mad at Iza-Nii?"
"Hm?" Shizuo glanced down at her. "No, of course not."
"You guys haven't talked in forever," Mairu murmured sourly, huffing.
"Well, your brother's really busy," Shizuo replied lightly. "He has to study and I can't distract him, that's all."
Kururi huffed, shaking her head. "Too much school!"
Shizuo smiled a bit. "Your brother needs to focus on school anyways; he's got college right after summer."
"He's going far away!" Mairu smiled. "All of us are!"
"Are you going to?" Kururi questioned as she tugged at Shizuo's hand again.
Shizuo hesitated. "No...I think I'll stay here, actually."
As they crossed a street, Mairu frowned. "You're not gonna come?!"
"I can't," Shizuo replied with a sigh. "I have school...and friends...and my brother."
"But we'd miss you," Kururi huffed, frowning. "Pretty please?"
Shizuo sighed and offered a small shrug. "I'll...think about it, ok? No promises."
The little girls both nodded, happily skipping ahead of Shizuo towards the ice cream shop. Shizuo's mind wasn't entirely there during their trip, the blonde mostly thinking about Izaya and the limited time they had. It both irritated and scared him, but who was he to tell Izaya no? To deny Izaya of his goals? That'd be cruel...not to mention selfish.
I have to deal with it, he told himself. It's for Izaya...
They came home a few hours later, the girls rushing to their room and Shizuo making his way to his and Izaya's room. He found the raven haired teen at his computer desk, music playing and the boy dead asleep. Shizuo blinked before a small smile formed on his lips. "Damn flea..."
He walked over and shook Izaya's shoulder genly as he shut off the computer. "Hey, Izaya? Get up..."
Izaya murmured something Shizuo didn't quite catch before falling back asleep. Shizuo huffed, shaking the male's shoulder once more. "Izaya, wake up..."
Izaya frowned, eyes fluttering open slowly. They focused on Shizuo and Izaya smiled at him. "Shizu-Chan..."
Shizuo gave a small smile. "Come on, let's get in bed."
Izaya stood and nodded. slinging an arm around Shizuo's waist as they made their way towards the bed. "Where have you been?"
"Took the girls out for ice cream," Shizuo murmured, playfully shoving Izaya to the bed.
The raven haired male fell onto the mattress, raising an eyebrow as Shizuo sat beside him. "Without me?"
"You were studying," Shizuo replied mildly. pulling off his shirt and tossing it aside. "I told you before that I wasn't going to interrupt you while you're studying."
Izaya rolled his eyes a bit and nodded, easing off his shirt and tossing it aside as well. He smiled as he all but shoved Izaya on his back, leaning over him with a small smirk. "I've been neglecting you, haven't I?"
Shizuo blinked, blushing slightly as he huffed. "Not tonight, Flea."
Izaya pouted, cocking his head to the side. "Why?"
"We're no doing anything until you take your exams," Shizuo stated firmly. sitting up and pushing his lover away. At Izaya's exasperated expression, he continued. "No distractions."
"No fair," Izaya nearly whined. "...At least a kiss?"
Shizuo hesitated, but the thought of kissing Izaya seemed more than enticing. He smiled a bit, leaning in and pressing his lips against Izaya's. Izaya made a small sound of victory, easily parting Shizuo's lips so that their tongues meet. A shiver ran down Shizuo's spine as Izaya's arms came to wrap around his waist, pulling him nearly in the raven's lap. Shizuo's fingers twined in Izaya's hair as their tongues danced, giving a slight tug that resulted in a breathless gasp from Izaya.
The air already had grown hot and heavy and, with a mental groan, Shizuo pulled away from the kiss, leaving Izaya to stare, unamused. Shizuo smiled. "One kiss."
"You're mean," Izaya sighed, plopping down beside the blonde and huffing.
Shizuo smiled and ran a hand through his hair. "Go to sleep."
Izaya stared up at the blonde for a few moments. "...Love you, Shizu-Chan."
Shizuo smiled a bit. "...I love you too."
Content, Izaya closed his eyes and fell asleep not too long after that. Shizuo's smile fell from his lips, his fingers coming up touch his lips that still tangled from their kiss. He sighed, bringing his knees to his chest and hugging them. We won't kiss anymore when he leaves...or touch...or anything...
The thoughts terrified him, the idea of moving back in with his dad once the Orihara's left terrified him as well. He wouldn't be able to handle that without Izaya there...
But who was he to deny Izaya's future...?
Heaving a heavy sigh, Shizuo closed his eyes but gasped when a pain struck him. He opened his eyes only to find his own nails digging into the old scars from before, small spots of blood already forming in the skin. He stared for a few silent minutes, a feeling of dread washing over him as he realized how good it felt.
Things were going downhill quickly and it terrified him.
Shizu-Chan! I wanna hug him sooooooo bad! Well, things are gonna go down very soon...soem of you might hate me at a certain point, but don't worry, i have plans for Shizuo and Izaya that'll make you love me again~ Reviews? Again, computers crashed so i can only work on these once a week.
