Chapter 5
Beyond the kingdom of Arendelle, beyond the forest the surround the castle, there lied a castle. A lost, abandoned, rooting castle. It was hidden deep withing the mountains making it difficult for any mortal to enter it's domains. Inside this dark, decaying and revolting castle was a figure. More specifically a person, a dark, sinister person. It sat there on it's chair with a large staff in it's hands. It was simply waiting patiently for something to arrive. It's patience was rewarded for a black raven came flying in threw one of it's windows.
A smile grew on the mysterious figure, the arrival of the black raven seemed to be what it was expecting.
The Figure stood, no longer content with sitting down. It approached the Raven and gently began petting it's head, an act that the Raven found most enjoyable. The figure began to speak, it was asking what the Raven had seen. What had it witnessed. What events were worth speaking about. Curiously enough the Raven did not say anything for obvious reasons, yet the figure understood it perfectly.
A sinister smile bore of the figure's face as the information began to revolve around inside it's head.
Elsa's ice powers.
The conflict between the two sister's.
The painting that the Raven tore with's claws and finally...
The mysterious Chief who has some how won the affection of the younger sister and the approval of the older sister.
All this was useful to the mysterious figure.
For now it decide to wait, the time to act had not yet arrived.
But it was approaching, oh yes indeed...
.
.
.
Daybreak, a sign that morning has arrived and those who were sleeping must now rise and start the day.
"Chief Hiccup, it's time to wake up. We are starting to make the preparations to set sail!"
As much as he didn't want to Hiccup had to wake up from his deep sleep. The sound of his crew yelling along with the sound of footsteps on wooden board made it very difficult to get back to sleep. It also didn't help that Hiccup was not a morning person, he was much more comfortable waking up around noon but that was not an option. Removing the clothes he slept in Hiccup then donned a pair of brown leather pants along with a green shirt and one boot for his right leg. He then left his room and walked to the deck of his ship. Once he got there he was greeted by the sight of Ruffnut and Tuffnut who were once again in some sort of trivial argument.
"What do you mean he kissed the princess!"
"How about listening dork! The princess kissed him and that's all I know he wouldn't tell me anything else."
"Well maybe if you didn't waste your second question."
"Well maybe if you weren't so stupid."
"Hey maybe I am stupid but i'm still smarter than you!"
"No true!"
"Yes true!"
"AHEM."
The twins ceased arguing when they saw that there chief standing right next to them with an annoyed look on his face.
"What are you two doing?" he asked impatiently.
"Were trying to get to the bottom of the mystery kiss you got last night!" Ruffnut said followed by a nod of agreement from her brother. Hiccup shook his head in self pity, he should have realized that these two would stop at nothing to get to the bottom of this.
"Guys look here is the short and honest version. The princess and Queen needed a favor and so I decide to help them out. In show of thanks the princess gave me a kiss on the cheek and the queen said that she would come by..." his voice trailed off and his face turned from annoyance to shock.
The two twins waited for an ending to his explanation but all they got was a Hiccup who's face has been frozen in mid sentence. "The Queen is going to come by today along with the princess oh by the gods how could I have forgotten!" By now Hiccup was moving frantically and was about to pull his hair out but was stopped by Tuffnut who had firmly grabbed him by the shoulder's.
"Whoa, whoa slow down there Hiccup. What do you mean by that?" asked Tuffnut with a bit of curiosity
"The favor I was talking about, the Queen said that she would come early in the morning in order to give me proper thanks and I almost forgot!"
"So what your saying is that were about to have a royal visit and you didn't tell us last night because?" asked Ruffnut with a bit of
"Just shut up and tell everyone to start cleaning and look proper!"
Hiccup then ran back to his quarters and in doing so tripped on the wooden stairs that lead down. The twins took take brief moment to laugh at their fallen Chief and then proceeded to inform the rest of the vikings on the situation. Hiccup picked himself off the floor and made his way to his quarters and did so without tripping. Upon entering he then slipped on another matching boot to cover his prosthetic leg. Hiccup looked in the mirror and felt that his attire was by no means appropriate when it comes to greeting the Queen and princess. He frantically began to search his wardrobe for something that was more appropriate but time was not on his side for he heard knocking coming from his door followed by a female voice.
"Chief Hiccup, you may want to come out here."
Hiccup exited his room and followed the female viking up the the deck. "What happened?" Asked Hiccup who saw all of his crew at the edge of the ship looking at something.
"I think the Queen and the Princess are here." The female viking was right for Hiccup heard the sound of commotion coming from the town. He asked his men to lower the drawbridge, once they did Hiccup proceeded to get off his ship and wait on the docks while the rest of the crew stayed on board. The commotion was getting louder and louder, finally Hiccup along with the rest of his crew saw the source of it. It was the Queen and the Princess along with a set of guards accompanying them, they were all walking towards Hiccup and his ship. A flock of people were also around the Royal siblings, Hiccup guessed that they were trying to get a good look at their newly appointed Queen.
Hiccup could see that the the Queen and the Princess had a change of wardrobe. Instead of having her hair in bun Anna had braided pigtails with the white streak standing out as usual. Her attire consents of timber wolf wrist-length blouse with light blue vertical linings and a dark gray skirt with a light gray lining. The Queen herself had her hair in the same design as the party only this. Her wardrobe consisted of royal blue gloves along with a matching medium length royal blue skirt that beard no pattern and just like her younger sister she wore a blouse only this one was white with three buttons were her chest was at.
Hiccup gulped when he saw how poorly dressed he was compared to the two sisters. He turned to look at his crew and saw that all the men were trying their best to not drool at the sight of two beautiful women. The women only looked in curiosity of how the women here could be so petite. Hiccup then looked the Ruffnut And Tuffnut and saw that the two twins were engaged in their own little private conversation while taking quick glances at the two siblings. If Hiccup had the guess he would assume that the twins were trying to figure out which one of the two women was the princess. Hiccup switched his focus from his crew to Elsa and Anna who were just a few minutes away from him.
"Good morning Chief Hiccup." asked Elsa with politeness.
"Hi Hiccup! Did you sleep well?" asked Anna with an eager tone.
"I slept well thank you for asking and good morning Queen Elsa."
Hiccup could see the guards beside them examining Hiccup from top to bottom. He saw the look on their faces and could tell that they were a bit offended that someone would dress like this in front of the Queen and the Princess. Hiccup himself was a bit embarrassed but he knew that it was too late to do anything about it now.
"So what do we have planned for today?" Hiccup asked the two sisters, his curiosity barley being able to contain itself.
"I was hoping that you would join me and my sister for breakfast back in our castle."
"You should see what the cook is capable of making, trust me your mouth will explode." Exclaimed Anna who then made an exploding noise with her mouth.
"Well then I would be happy to join you both."
Elsa and Anna gave a quick smile before they turned around and began walking back to the castle along with the guards. Hiccup gave a small wave to his friends who waved back in response. Once they were out of sight the vikings ceased preparing the ship for disembark and began to indulge in their own little activates. Except for Ruffnut and Tuffnut, there mind was currently occupied on Anna. They saw him address the woman with blond hair as Queen Elsa which lead the two twins coming to the conclusion that the other woman with strawberry hair was the princess.
"So...what do you think?" Tuffnut asked his sister with a whisper.
"I think...that Astrid has some competition." A devious smile that only promised mischief appeared on Ruffnut's face. Tuffnut donned the same smile as they began to plan something that would bring nothing but headaches to Hiccup.
.
.
.
"ACHOO!"
"Getting sick Chief Hiccup?" Hiccup gave a nod of disagreement before he wiped his nose with a cloth that Elsa provide, he wiped his nose with as much dignity as one could when wiping boogers and then tossed the dirty napkin into the nearest trash can. Hiccup was currently walking with Elsa and Anna along with a group of guards in the center of the town. Vendors, blacksmiths, and bakery's were around them along with crowds of people doing their daily shopping. Some of the people would stop only to bow and adress the Queen and Princess with proper respect while others actually gave the two sisters free food such as bread and fruit.
"The town sure is something isn't Hiccup?" Anna's said while taking a bit out of an apple that was handed to her. Hiccup only nodded in agreement, The town was vibrant and showed no signs of stopping, it actually made Hiccup a bit sad that he wouldn't be able to explore it more. Still Hiccup kept following the Queen who was walking in front of both him and Anna. The guards were behind them walking in an orderly manner, keeping to themselves while maintaining a careful eye on Hiccup. The guards knew that Anna trust the young man and so does the Queen to a certain extent, still they refused to let their guard down.
"Queen Elsa, what will we be having for breakfast?
"Our chef's will be providing us with fine cooked steak along with eggs and fresh made juice."
"Sound's good I haven't had Yak since last week." Both the Princess and the Queen mentally paused at the word yak.
"Yak? What's a yak?" Queen Elsa asked as she continued to walk forward.
"You guys don't have Yak? You know long thick hair, they horns on their heads. Isn't that were you guys get your meat from?"
"No here in Arenedlle we have cows that farmers raise and sell."
Hiccup tired his best the picture what a cow might look like but every time a picture came into his head in took the form of something that looked like a Yak afterwords he then just gave up trying to picture what a cow might look like.
"Ah it doesn't matter a meal is a meal."
Finally the group had reached the castle gate and entered through the front doors. Hiccup saw as the Queen and Princess were welcomed be maids and butlers who lead them to the dinning room. They entered a medium sized room, Hiccup could see in the center that there was a table long enough to seat ten people. The chairs were maid of wood but the cushions seat's were composed of a soft red velvet fur. A large window with red curtains was open allowing the sunlight and the smell of the outside to enter into the dinning room. A fancy carpet with the beautiful pattern of the royal crest ran under the table along with a unlit chandelier that hanged above the table and finally at the end of the room there was a grand painting of the castle itself. Hiccup gave a whistle as he examined the room in amazement.
"Excuse me m'lord."
Hiccup jumped at the unknown word that was used to call him. He stopped to turn and faced one of the maids that lead them to the room. The woman standing before had pale skin, a slim figure, short blond hair that was neatly cut, a pair of brown eyes along with a round face. She was around the same height as Anna though when it came to age Hiccup guessed that the woman was somewhere around her early thirties. She sounded nervous, most likely due to the face that she was very close to a viking. Hiccup did not mind, by now he has gotten use to it.
"My name is Gwen, and I will be serving you today. If you can please take a seat next to the queen and we will bring you your meal."
Hiccup did as he was asked sat on the seat that was across from the Queen. Anna herself had chosen to sit right next to Hiccup and her reason was not subtle. A small grin could be seen on her face followed by her eyes taking a quick glance at him every few moments. Hiccup was not oblivious to it, he could see what Anna was trying to do and while he did not mind he was curios as the what the Queen's response will be. The incident from last night was still clear in his head, how Anna wanted to tell him something in private which in turn sparked an argument between the sister's. Thankfully Hiccup was not so curios as to ask what Anna had wanted to ask him last night, he choose to stay silent and pretend that he forgot Anna ever asked him in that in the first place.
"Thank you Gwen." Hiccup replied back with a small smile causing the maid to give a bow and then leave the dinning room so as to retrieve their food. "She seem's nice."
"Gwen? She was been a maid for my family for eight years for some time, back when me and Anna were still kids though I don't have to many memories of her. How about you Anna?"
"Gwen is a nice girl, she kept me company when...you know..." Hiccup knew what she was referring to, the somberness look of her face along with the silent Queen told Hiccup everything he needed to know. "Anyway Gwen is a very nice person I'm sure you'll get along with her Hiccup." Anna flashed a smile at Hiccup, one that looked forced. If she was trying to hide the pain then she was doing a bad job at it. The room stayed silent after that, both Elsa and Anna remained quiet, Hiccup himself could not think of a way to break this awkward silence. Thankfully he did not have to for a few minutes later their meals arrived, Gwen came in thorough the door with a metal cart that had three delicious looking plates on it. The smell alone was enough to make Hiccup's mouth water, never before has he seen a meal like this. Gwen got the first plate of the tray and placed it in front of Hiccup. Fine cooked steak along with a side of eggs that were scrambled, it took all of Hiccups will power not to chow down right away. He knew that the polite thing to do is to wait for everyone to have their meals before eating, something that no one in berk ever does.
Finally Gwen had given Elsa and Anna their meals along with a tiny bell next to Elsa. "Please enjoy your meals, if your require anything please feel free to ring that bell." Elsa thanked Gwen for her kind service and politely dismissed her leaving the three alone to enjoy their meal in private. Hiccup wasted no time in chowing down, he grabbed the nearest utensil he could find and began to a bit of the steak that was by now calling his name. He savored the juicy taste that followed, he began to wonder if could convince Elsa to give him some cows so that he could start his own farm back at Berk.
"Enjoying your meal Hiccup?" Anna asked Hiccup whose cheek's were full of food. The sight of a puffy cheeked Hiccup was enough to make Anna laugh, even Queen Elsa herself had to repress a giggle from her mouth. Hiccup swallowed his food and turned a slight bit red from embarrassment. "Yes, this is very delicious."
"So Chief Hiccup, what's it like at Berk?" Elsa asked in hopes of getting a conversation started. Hiccup paused from his meal and wiped his face with a napkin. "Well for starters it's nothing but cold weather back home."
"Ah yes I remember you telling me about that yesterday, something about it hailing and snowing?"
"Your are correct Queen Elsa, but if you can get get past that well then Berk can be a pretty amazing place..." Anna and Elsa saw how Hiccup's eyes began to drift which was then followed by a soft smile appearing on his lips. "Amazing you say, and just what makes it so amazing?" Elsa's curiosity has been peeked, the look on the man's face told Elsa that he was hiding something, something good. Anna herself had stopped eating by now and was now watching Hiccup intently.
Hiccup saw that he had captured the full attention of the Queen and the Princess with his ambiguous sentence. "Tell me you two what are your thoughts on stories of legends and myths?" His question left the two sister's confused, they looked to each other in hopes of understanding what he meant by that question. Hiccup smiled on the inside as he watched the two sisters think carefully on his question, they were silent for just a few moments then Elsa decide to speak. "I believe that they hold a bit of truth in them, every single one of those stories that you hear." Her mind began to wander back to when her family took her and an unconscious Anna to the valley of the living rock. She remembers watching large pile of rocks come to life around her and perform a magic that rid Anna of her memories. A secret that they've kept hidden from a very long time, to Elsa the only people that know of there existence was her and her two parents.
"You believe in fairy tails Elsa?" Anna asked her sister.
"Not all of them mind you but...I fell like that this world is so big that it's impossible for all those stories to be false." Anna was a bit surprised from her sister's comment, the way she kept her distance along with her serious attitude gave her younger sister an impression that would not believe fairy tales.
"What about you Anna?" Hiccup asked the young princess who was by now just ignoring her food. The young woman paused for a few seconds, as if trying to find the right words to say the the young handsome man.
"I use to believe in them, my mother would always read those stories to me and Elsa when we were young."
"Let me guess, as you grew older you sort of outgrew those stories?" Anna nodded slowly in agreement to Hiccups question. Imagination was something that Anna had lost at an early age, with the sudden separation between her and Elsa, the princess found that she had no one save her parents. Even then that lasted for only seven years, before the harsh reality of the world reeled it's ugly head and took what the two girls valued the most. For those reason's Anna soon found herself realizing that those stories that filled her with joy when her mother read them will be nothing more than just stories.
Hiccup began to worry, his conversation and ambiguous statement had unintentionally taken a dark turn. He could see that his questions brought an empty expression to the princess. He turned to the Queen with questions written on his face, it was to no avail as the Queen herself was struggling to find the words that would bring comfort to her sister. The Queen and Chief's silent conversation came to an abrupt end when Anna broke the silence. "Hey Hiccup...do you think...do you think that I could visit Berk with you...?" Her question rang through the ears of both her crush and her sister. A simple question, but her tone gave it much weight.
Elsa knew what drove Anna to ask such a question. The Queen was not the only one who was stuck inside the castle, in a way Anna was experiencing her own torment for over these last three years. The day they lost their parents was the last time Anna was able to leave the castle freely, without a king or queen to rule them the advisers of Arenedlle requested that both siblings be kept inside their castle for their own safety until Elsa was old enough to rule as queen. The soldiers did as they were told and whenever Anna would wish to leave the guards would deny her request. Granted they did so with respect as they did their job with the full intention of protecting their future rulers, still it did not soften the blow that Anna felt as she realized that she was trapped here just like her sister. Now the princess no longer has that obstacle blocking her path, she had the opportunity to see so many things.
"I would be honored to have the Queen and Princess as guest at the Isle of Berk." Hiccup wasted no time in responding, the look on the girls face was too familiar and drew to much sympathy from the viking. Hiccup recognized that face, for he saw it every time a viking rode a dragon for the first time. The face of wanting to see the world, the desire for exploration, so who is Hiccup to deny his good friend the chance to explore the world around her. The chief viking would be more than happy to grant the princess request especially after the rough childhood she went trough. He only hoped that his older sister would fell the same.
"Thank you Chief Hiccup but I'm afraid that me and my sister will have to past on that offer."
Hiccup saw that response coming, but what he didn't see coming was Anna's violent outburst.
"WHAT? Why not Elsa?!"
Elsa knew why, to have her younger sister who she loves more than anything go to a place filled with savages was a frighting thought. Elsa would never admit it in front of the Chiefs face but she does not want to have any relation with a group of people who have a history of violence.
"Because Anna..."
"Let me guess, you still think that Hiccup can't be trusted just because he's a viking?"
"That is not True!" Much to the surprise of Anna and Hiccup, Elsa had exclaimed these words at the top of her lungs and even slammed her palms onto the table all while rising from her seat . Her voice was so loud that Gwen had slowly opened the door and poked her head in to see what the commotion. "Is...Is everything alright your majesty?" the young woman said with a timid voice. Seeing the Queen in an aggravated posture, the princess with anger in her eyes along with red hot cheeks and the viking chief with a face nothing short of composure was enough to make this maid shiver in her shoes. Once again the temperature slowly began to drop though the only one who noticed it was Hiccup, the girls were to caught up in their own argument to pay attention.
"Everything is fine Gwen, PLEASE give us a moment." The maid only nodded her head before carefully closing the door leaving the three alone.
"If that's not True, then why Elsa? Why won't you let me go to Berk?" Anna asked with pleading eyes as she she straight at her sister. Elsa turned away, unable to match her sister's gaze. She turned to Hiccup, wondering what the Chief's thoughts were in all this.
Her answer came in the form on Hiccup watching the two sisters silently, much like how Hiccup had stayed silent during the last argument. The chief intends to repeat the same action, this conversation was not only about him but around the people of Berk who were under his wing. He need's to know what exactly are the thoughts of the Queen when it comes to Berk.
"Are you even thinking this through Anna? You immediately just want to go to Berk, as if it were that simple?!" Elsa began to turn the argument around, she wanted it to go the direction of a mother scolding a child for making a bad decision rather that two sister's bickering. Her words seemed to have reached Anna for the younger sister had broken her stare on Elsa and momentarily looked away.
"Maybe your right...I did make sound simple but that doesn't mean we can't go! Elsa we have been locked up here for years. Years Elsa..." Anna paused for a second to compose herself, memories began to flood her once again only this time she did not welcomed them. She knew that she would not be able to convince her sister if she acted as a mere child crying for a toy. " I can't live like this Elsa...being cooped in this castle like a bird who's wings were clipped. I want to explore Elsa, just what is wrong with that?"
"Nothing Anna it just, it just..."
"You don't trust the people at Berk." Hiccup spoke, interrupting the Queen and breaking the heated gazes that the two sister's were giving one another. "Our history, and the reputation makes you have second thoughts about visiting us, doesn't it your majesty?" Hiccup gazes's pierced the weak defense Elsa was trying to put up in front of her sister. His gaze was serious yet calm, no anger was shown in his eyes yet Elsa still could not meet his stare. The Queen of Arenedlle was crumbling in front of the Viking Chief.
"...Yes Chief Hiccup, you are right. I don't trust your people but can you blame me? The stories that have been told, the people's who's lives have been ruined by your savage life style." Said Elsa as she snapped back at the Chief.
"No Elsa, I can't blame you." His answer surprised both Elsa and Anna. "But let me ask you this, out of all those stories of vikings when have your ever heard one attending a party like yesterday?" The chief waited for a response from the Queen but he never got an answer, his question has left her searching for answer to counter with but she could not find one. "There isn't many of us left, my Father told me it was because of our reckless life style. Viking's made enemies, plenty of enemies. When a tribe would attack a town the kingdom would retort back with full force."
Anna and Elsa listened intently to his story, he wasn't just rambling. No, the viking chief was going somewhere with his speech.
"My Father knew this and he did his best to try and change our suicidal ways before it was too late and you know what? He succeeded." Hiccup smiled for a brief moment as he remembers just how alike he and his father really is. "Sure were still just a stubborn as any other viking and when we encounter a problem the first thing we do is try solve it with our fists but were not the group you hear stories about." Hiccup had now gotten up from his seat and was standing tall. "I ask to you not be so quick to judge us from our past mistakes Queen Elsa. My offer still stands, if both you and your sister would want to visit Berk then I would be more than happy to welcome both of you. We won't set sail till the afternoon, in case you change your mind. Thank you for the meal, it was delicious." Hiccup said with words that said nothing but the truth, he gave a respectful bow to both the Queen and the princess and then excused himself from the room. As soon as he left a pair of staff entered the room and began to gather all the plates and the silverware that were used in today's breakfast.
Anna and Elsa simply remained seated, waiting for the staff to finish their job. The staff could feel that awkward tension that filled the air, they remained silent and did not bother the Queen nor the Princess with trivial questions. Once finished the Staff left the room with respect towards the Queen and the princess. Now it was just the two sister's, one was staring at the table and the other was just fidgeting with her thumbs. Both of the sister's were ashamed of their actions for once again they entered into a verbal argument in front of a Chief. Elsa was ashamed, her first official day as Queen and she failed to repay Hiccup for the favor that he did for her and her sister. Anna felt the same emotion but for the different reasons. She failed to impress the man she had fallen for, she had gotten into another verbal argument with her sister, and to top it off Hiccup once again had to dispel the heated tension that was rising between them.
"We have a lot of work to do, don't we Elsa?" Anna asked with sadness lacing her voice.
"What do you mean?" Asked her older sister.
"The distance between us, look's like we still haven't covered the gap." Anna said with a weak smile, she extended her hand and reached for her sister's gloved palm. Elsa saw this and opened her palm and gladly accepted her sister's hand.
"I finally get to see you again after ten years, I have no intention drifting apart from my beloved sister." Elsa said with a full smile on her face, one that spread from her to Anna.
"Nor will I separate from you Elsa, even if your more uptight than the captain on a bad day." Anna said with a small smirk as she gave a small verbal yet playful jab at her sister.
"Nor will I to you baby sister, even though I have encountered more mature attitudes from a group of children." Elsa retorted back while making no attempt to hide the wide mischievous smile on her face. Anna herself busted out into giggles from her sister's remark but her laughter soon stopped as an idea mentally popped into head.
"I KNOW WHAT WE NEED THAT WILL CHEER US UP!" Anna exclaimed with a hyperactive voice, the young woman practically jumped from her chair giving the older sister a heart attack as she did not expect her sister to do that. "We need Chocolate."
"Oh Chocolate does sound good right now. GWEN can you come hear please!" Elsa called out to the maid who was serving them before. The maid almost immdeialty after being called by her Queen. "Yes your majesty how may I help you?"
"Can you please bring the chocolate that was left over from yesterday's party?"
"Of course, how much would you like?"
"All of it."
Gwen had to stop jaw from falling, she look to the princess and saw that she shared the same face as the Queen.
"Of-of course I will be right back."
Gwen soon returned with a tray a of delicious looking chocolate along with two glasses of milk for the two siblings. The sister took a moment to take in the scent of chocolate, oh how they've missed it so.
"Alright time to dig in!"
"Uh-uh."
The moment Anna reached for a piece of chocolate her sister gave a small smack to her sister's hand.
"Hey Elsa what was that for?" The young sister asked with a pout on her lips.
"A princess shouldn't be eating such sweets, especially if she's looking to impress a young handsome Chief." Elsa said with a teasing smirk on her face as she took bite of chocolate in front of her younger sister.
"Wait, what! but that's not fair" Anna exclaimed, her tone matching the voice of a toddler asking for a toy.
"I'm the Queen so I say it's fair." She replied as if it was a fact.
"Elsaaaaaa." Anna's voice did not go unnoticed by the staff who by now have started giving small giggles. They were simple happy that the awkward tension had now been replaced by the sound of two sister's enjoying each other's company.

.
.
Though the day had just begun Elsa has already retired to her room after breakfast. She enjoyed these moments of peace, now that she is queen Elsa realizes that her entire schedule is going to be full for quite some time. Though for now she simply stared through her window and enjoyed the view of her beloved city. The moment only lasted for a few seconds for her mind began to turn once more. She began to think on Hiccup's offer, as Queen it is her duty to form friendly relationships with other kingdoms no matter how strange they maybe.
"He isn't a bad man, he's rather handsome too..." Elsa's eyes went wide open as she asked herself were exactly that thought came from.
"Focus Elsa, think about what your doing. The viking chief just kindly offered you a chance to visit his home and you threw his offer right at his face." Elsa word's began to mentally sink into her mind. "Not only did you reject his offer but he called you out in front of your sister and pierced right through you with just words! I can't let things end like this, first day as Queen and here I am making enemies with a viking, no I need to do something about this."
A knock came from the door interrupting the queen's thoughts
Elsa then rose from her seat and made her way to the door, she opened it only to find the Gwen was about to do the same. "Your majesty, please forgive me I did not mean to disturb you." The maid said very quickly while giving a quick bow of respect, it was obvious to Elsa that the maid still remembered the harsh words Elsa gave to her last night. It maid Elsa feel a bit remorse, she did not want her staff following her out of fear for their lives.
"You did nothing wrong Gwen, what do you need me for?" Elsa asked with a soft voice in hopes of calming down the slightly nervous maid.
"I just wanted to inform you that your sister had left the castle."
"...WHAT?" The look on Elsa's face was enough to put the maid in a state of panic once again.
"She-she said that you were okay with it, did something happen your majesty?"
"Did she say were she was going...never mind I know exactly were she is going." Elsa groaned in frustration and exited her room leaving the maid both puzzled and worried. As the two walked down the hallway Gwen felt the need to speak up since she believed that this was her fault to some degree for she was the person the princess came to.
"Do you wish to assemble a group of guards to gather your sister Queen Elsa?" Gwen asked with a small plead, hoping that the Queen will take her offer and allow her the chance to clean up the mess that she felt responsible for.
"No, I will go and fetch her myself..." The Queen sighed and began to drag her feet to the exit of the castle as she mentally prepared herself for whatever mischief Anna may get herself into. "Please allow me to come with you. I am partly to blame for this." The maid spoke aloud gaining a skeptical look from the Queen. "If you wish to accompany me then so be it." The maid nodded with respect and began to silently follow her Queen.
.
.
.
"Sooooo how did it go with the princess?" The question came from the blond haired female viking named Ruffnut who has been eagerly awaiting the Chief's arrival since he left.
"Awkward." Hiccup replied quickly with a still face. The smile on the female viking was quickly replaced with a look of confusion as she examined her friend's face for any signs that might explain his answer. Ruffnut looked for any red marks that might indicate a slap but found none, she then looked for any marks of lipstick but once again found none. "What do you mean?" She asked.
"Well..." Hiccup paused for a few seconds trying to come up with the right words to describe the situation he was just in. "The two sister's got into a argument and I think I was the cause of it."
"What makes you think that?" Ruffnut asked again.
"Well the princess asked if she could visit Berk but before I could get a chance to reply the Queen shut down her question and the princess was not happy about that."
"Why doesn't the Queen want to visit Berk?" Ruffnut asked with a bit of offense.
"Because of our past." Hiccup replied dryly.
Ruffnut expression turned dark for a few seconds, she was not oblivious to her people's history. She remembers when her and her brother were just small children, how they would see their parents come home from a raid with the stench of blood over their bodies. If the vikings weren't fighting dragons then they were raiding other villages and towns for their resources. Ruffnut reminded herself that if it wasn't for Hiccup's father who changed the way vikings lived, she and her brother would be committing the same atrocities that their fathers did.
"Ruffnut are you okay?" His question brought the female viking back to reality. "Yeah why do you ask?" she replied back swiftly.
"Your face became serious, something bothering you?"
"I'm fine Hiccup." said Ruffnut as she gave a playful jab to her chief. "So what now, can we set sail and go home? If we leave now we should be home by tomorrow in the afternoon."
"Yeah, tell everyone to-"
"HICCUP!"
A female voice could be heard from the docks, both Hiccup and Ruffnut turned to see what the cause to the commotion was and saw a young woman with strawberry hair running towards the ship. "HICCUP!" she yelled again this time gaining the attention of other vikings who were on the deck of the ship.
"Anna? What are you doing here?" Hiccup asked before gesturing to his men to lower the drawbridge. The vikings carried out their chief's wish and the moment it was lowered Hiccup began to make his was down the docks so he could speak to Anna without yelling. As he got closer to Anna he could see the her cheek's were a bit red and that she was breathing rather heavily. "Did, did you run all the way here?" Hiccup asked with a bit surprise.
"Yeah, it would have taken longer if I had walked." Hiccup opened his mouth to find some sort of retort to the princess 'logic' but he ultimately could not find one.
"Okay, well what brings you here?"
"I, Princess Anna accept your invitation and have decide to join you and your ship so that I can visit Berk."
"...excuse me?" Hiccups face was the definition of confusion. "Didn't your sister say no?"
"SHE decided not to go, I love my sister Hiccup but that doesn't mean she speaks for me." said Anna as if it were a fact.
"Anna, while I would be happy to have you as a guest I don't think your sister would suit well with that."
"I am a princess, Chief Hiccup. I may not have as much power as my sister but I am still allowed to make my own decisions and I have decide to come along with you to visit berk." Her hardheaded personalty began to show. It was obvious to Hiccup that this woman had no intention of backing down.
"Look lets just go get approval from your sister so she doesn't get get the wrong idea here." Hiccup softly grabbed Anna's wrist and was about to lead her back to castle but the young woman refused to budge.
"I'm not going anywhere Hiccup because I don't need her permission." Anna replied with a voice that gave little hints of temper. Hiccup began to look around and saw that they were beginning to attract a bit of attention. Some of the vikings had ceased in their activities and began to watch what their Chief was going to do, while the people who were on the docks noticed that their princesses was having a heated discussion with a man from another kingdom.
"You may not need it Anna but I do. Just think what would happen if your sister heard about this. Do you really think she will see this as just an act of you being rebellious?"
If simple persuasion fails then use logic.
"Well yeah but..." Anna did not finish her sentence, instead she turned her gaze to the floor for a few seconds and began to see the holes in what she consider a full proof plan. "No...she probably won't see it like that." Anna said as she gave a defeated stomp at the floor.
"So do you want to go ask your sister for permission?" asked Hiccup. Anna nodded silently, embarrassment began to take over her as she now just realized that her little act had attracted some unwanted attention. Hiccup himself began to hope that his crew wouldn't mind if they stayed for just another hour. He realized they missed their homes as just as much as he did but he refused to leave this kingdom when his relationship with the Queen and princess where in unsure conditions.
"GUYS, I'LL BE RIGHT BACK I'M GONNA GO VISIT THE QUEEN!" said Hiccup with a loud tone so his men would be able to hear him.
"UM HICCUP I DON'T THINK THAT WILL BE NECESSARY." Tuffnut's statement drew a confused look on Both Hiccup and Anna. They saw that Tuffnut was pointing to something that was behind them, upon turning in the direction the he was pointing the Chief and the Princess saw what he was referring to. The Queen was in sight alongside a maid that Hiccup remembered as the one who served breakfast and two guards.
"Oh boy..." said Hiccup as he began to nervously rub the back of his head.
"Oh she looks mad...sorry Hiccup." said Anna with much shame as her chances of getting closer to the man she has feelings for were getting father and father away. "It's fine." replied Hiccup without haste. "Your right though, you have your own voice and there isn't anyone here that can stop you from saying what you want." Hiccup could see from the corner of his eyes that Anna was in a state of despair. He did not like that look on the face of such a sweet girl, so he chose to say some inspirational words in hopes of cheering her up. He knew that it was a bit cheesy but he did not mind for the the small smile on her face and light red cheeks told him that he he maid the right choice. Hiccup ceased his attention on Anna and began to focus on the Queen who was only a few feet away.
"Princess Anna, do you mind telling me what you are doing here?" said a short tempered Queen as she gave her younger sister an annoyed and frustrated look. Anna slightly winced at her sister's tone, and for good reason she was not used to this sort of treatment for she has never gotten her sister so upset before. "I came to pay Hiccup a visit and to ask him if I can join him on his trip to Berk." Anna's words surprised the guards along with some of the vikings who were still listening in on the conversation. The only ones who weren't surprised were Hiccup and Elsa.
"Anna." Elsa sighed "I already told you that we are not going to berk."
"No. You said that you were not going to Berk but that doesn't mean I can't go. You don't speak for me Elsa."
"I know that Anna, but after all this time do you really think that I'm just gonna let you go? I don't want to be away from you Anna...from the only family that I have left."
It became silent after that, neither sister knew what to say to each other.
It was then that Hiccup felt the need to speak.
"Queen Elsa, if you have some time to spare I would like to speak with you in private." He said with a his voice clear and loud enough to be understood by everyone that happened to be listening.
His request drew a few surprises though not many. Elsa was one of the many who was not surprised, though she was a bit nervous. Every time she conversed with the Chief she found his gaze unbreakable and intimidating. She knows that Hiccup means no harm yet those eyes, those strong green eyes. To Elsa it was as if she was looking at raging fire.
"...I do not mind Chief Hiccup. Where would you like to hold this conversation?"
"your majesty?" asked one of the guards in concern for the safety of their Queen. The idea that their recently appointed Queen being alone with a viking was something that did not sit well with the two soldiers. Even Gwen who has stayed silent while the royals discussed felt the need to speak about this decision.
"Your majesty, if I may..."
"It's okay Gwen there is no need to worry. I trust Chief Hiccup, don't you Anna."
"Yup!" Anna replied without any hesitation causing the two guards and Gwen to draw blank faces. "Hiccup isn't a bad guy. He's actually really nice one you get to know him." Hiccup couldn't help but blush a bit from the complements he was receiving.
" So Chief Hiccup I assume we will be talking in your quarters?" asked the Queen.
"You are correct Queen Elsa, please follow me." Hiccup began walking towards his ship with the Queen following him in tow. As Anna watched them leave she could not help but cross her fingers and silently pray that Hiccup could convince her sister into coming to Berk.
Once Elsa made her way onto the ship her eyes began to wander, she looked at the vikings and the furs that they wore for clothing, she looked towards the rather crude design that decorated the ship. Elsa did not know what to make of these designs nor of the people around her. She found the vikings on the ship starring at her but to her relief there looks did not appear disturbing or unnerving. They were looks of curiosity, and rightly so for none of the vikings have ever seen a Queen so up close. Unfortunately they did not have much time to examine her as the Queen followed Hiccup down the stairs and into his private room. The sound of a door closing soon followed leaving the vikings alone to ponder in their thoughts.
"What do you think?" asked one of the male vikings.
"She's a bit to tiny." replied one of the female vikings.
"But she's very pretty, do you think she and Hiccup might..."
"A young man and woman alone together? Well who knows."
"A guarantee you that his father would be happy."
"And I guarantee you that Astrid will not be happy."
.
.
.
"Please enter Queen Elsa."
Hiccup entered his quarters and held the door open for Queen Elsa. Once the Queen had entered Hiccup gently closed the door and turned his attention to the Queen. He saw that the Queen could not help but be curios, her eyes wandered through out his room observing anything that could give her more info on the Chief of Berk. Her eyes stopped at a his desk which was littered with various drawings.
"Are these yours?" Asked Elsa.
"Yup." replied Hiccup. "Those are the maps that I drew myself, they come in handy when your traveling from your island to other locations."
His tone told Elsa that the chief did not mind her curiosity, something that made Elsa sigh a bit in relief. As she looked at the drawings she could not help but be impressed at the skill of which these maps were drawn.
"Your skill is very impressive, not many people I know can draw like this." Elsa said truthfully.
"Never expected a viking to be good in something that requires finesse, right Queen Elsa?" Said Hiccup with a small smirk.
Elsa did not reply but instead gave small blush of embarrassment as his words reached her ears. Elsa could not deny his words, drawings of this level were something you would only fine from some of the most experienced artist thorough out the country. Yet here was this young man who's skill was something that could rival those very artists.
"Are all vikings from Berk like you?" asked Queen Elsa.
Hiccup did not give a response right a way, he paused for a brief moment and scratched his head in thought. "...No, not all of them like me. Were as I can draw others can fish."
Elsa gave a small laugh at his response, something that caught the chief's attention. "Actually Chief Hiccup that is not what I meant. I mean are all vikings like you. Kind, patient, good with words." Hiccup could not help but blush slightly from the words that came from Elsa's mouth, praise such as this was not something that Hiccup was used to.
"Kind? Yes, I know it's hard to believe with our stories but were not as barbaric as you might think. In terms of patience and words...well." Hiccup slowly trailed off while darting his eyes. Queen Elsa only raised an Eyebrow to this, if not for the comedic act the Chief was providing Elsa would have assumed something bad. "Some habits die hard?" asked Elsa.
"Yes exactly. We can be a stubborn bunch especially me."
"You? Stubborn? No, what makes you say that?" asked Elsa with a sarcastic and humorous tone as she began to recall who determined the Chief was in convincing her to come to Berk.
"Yes, yes I get the idea. You can blame my father for that, I get it from him."
The two stayed silent for a bit after that, their small humorous conversation drifted off into the air.
"Chief Hiccup, all humor aside I must ask you. Why should I trust your Home?" asked Elsa with a straight face as she meet The chief's stare.
"Honestly Queen Elsa I can't get you to trust my home unless you actually visit yourself, but I can get you to trust me."
"How so?" asked Queen Elsa with a bit curiosity.
Her answer came not with words but with actions. She watched as Hiccup made his way towards his bed and sat down on it. He raised his left foot and rested it on his right knee, then Hiccup proceed to take his shoe off in front of Elsa. As she watched the Chief Elsa could not help but be confused as to what Hiccup was trying to do. Confusion soon turned to shock as she saw that beneath the show was not a leg but rather a metal contraption.
"Wha...wha" the young Queen stuttered for a brief moment as she tried to find the right words to describe what she was seeing. This whole time the chief had been with them, he had been missing a leg.
"Why?" a vague question was the only thing the Queen could say. Despite that, Hiccup did his best to answer that Question that he was given.
"A lot of reasons, one of them being for appearance. Can't show neighboring kingdoms that their leader is a crippled, most people would just look down on me. Something that I refuse to tolerate."
"How?" asked the Queen again only this time with more composure as she moved closer to Hiccup's left leg.
"How...heh sorry your majesty but that is a question I will not answer. At least not now" Elsa only nodded to Hiccup's response, she wished to pry further into the story but she knew when to respect the privacy of others.
Her mind began to ponder on Hiccup's action's. What this man did was shocking for Elsa, never before has she met someone who would give so much trust into another person they just met. Elsa could not help but ponder on why he would do such a thing.
"Chief Hiccup...do you really have that much trust in me, even thought you have only known me for a few days." asked Elsa as she gave a soft gaze to Hiccup who met her gaze with one of the same.
"Your not a bad person Queen Elsa, the way you act around your sister and how you try to keep her safe. That's enough for me to know that you mean well for the people you care about and that is something I can respect." As he said this Hiccup flashed a soft smile to Elsa. A smile that made Elsa's cheek's inexplicably turn red. Upon feeling the heat rising to her face Elsa immediately turned in the opposite direction so as to not meet Hiccup's gaze. Hiccup however was unaware of his effect on the Queen and was left rather clueless on the Queen's action.
"Fine." Her voice was soft, so soft in fact that Hiccup did not even hear her.
"Excuse me?" asked Hiccup.
"I said Fine, I will go to Berk."Elsa said again with her face still in the opposite direction of Hiccup. It took a few moments for those words to register but once they did Hiccup could not help but feel excitement.
"GREAT!" The young viking cheered with a huge smile on his face, he knew that showing her his leg would give her the push she needed to trust him. In truth it was not his leg but his words that convinced Elsa. Her self loathing thoughts have cause her to doubt who she is, she feels that she is nothing more than a monster trapped inside the body of a human. One who is capable of harming others if she is not to careful. Yet here was this man praising her, calling her a person who cares for others and even going so far as to give her his respect. Elsa could not explain this warm feeling inside of her as those words rang through her head over and over.
"Well then I must leave to make preparations." Elsa said quiet quickly as she maid her way to the door. She found herself unable to be in the same room as the viking chief, his presence alone was starting to make her fluster for some reason.
"Wait." Cried Hiccup as he watched Elsa make a quick dash to the door. "When can we expect you to arrive?"
"In two week's and before you ask, no we do not need a map." Her words cause Hiccup to closed his mouth as he was indeed about to ask if she needed a map to navigate to Berk.
"Very well the Queen Elsa, I await both yours and Anna's arrival." Hiccup said as formally as he could with a huge grin on his face. He could not help but feel accomplished at the fact that he managed to convince a Queen to visit his home.
"And I look forward to whatever you were talking about back during breakfast. I hope it was as good as you made it sound." said Elsa as she reminded Hiccup of his ambiguous topic that was mentioned during breakfast. A topic that was never revealed due to the heated argument that broke out between the two sisters.
"It is your majesty, trust me."
Hiccup slipped his shoe back on a proceed to guide Elsa back to the docks. As the walked through the deck the vikings could see the huge smile plastered onto Hiccup's face. That was all they needed to see in order to know that their Chief had succeeded in whatever task he set out to do.
.
.
.
Anna waited impatiently for the arrival of her sister, she would walk back and forth, mess with her hair and eventually chew on her own finger nails. The nerves were killing her, if not for Gwen and the two guards stopping her Anna would have made a bolt to Hiccup's quarters just to see what decision they were going to make. Finally the waiting had stopped for she saw both her sister and Hiccup make her way down to the docks.
The first thing Anna did was look at Hiccup and tried to see if his face would give any clue as to what was going to happen. Her dreams came to reality when she saw that Hiccup had a smile on his face and the proceeded to give a wink to Anna. That was all that Anna needed to see, now the young girl was showing a huge smile that made her older sister turn to Hiccup with a questioning look on her face.
"What did you do?" Elsa asked quietly.
"Oh nothing, nothing at all." said Hiccup with a little devious smile on his face.
"So Elsa what's the it going to be?" Anna asked with no signs of hiding her excitement. Her happiness was contagious as Hiccup himself was starting to feel a bit happy.
"We...We are going to Berk."
"...YES!" Shouted the younger sister with as much energy as she could muster. She ran to her sister and gave her the strongest hug this young woman could muster which. A hug that was robbing the Queen of her oxygen.
"Can't...breath...Anna."
"Oh sorry Elsa."
Once Anna released her sister the princess turned her attention to the Chief. "Thank you Hiccup for giving me this chance." Hiccup could only smile at the sweetness of her voice. He was happy to fulfill this woman's request, especially after all the pain that this young woman has been through. "The pleasure is mine Anna. I guarantee you'll have fun."
"Okay, okay time to go. The Chief needs to leave and we need to begin making preparations." said the Queen as she grabbed Anna by the wrist and began to drag her back to the castle before this situation shifted from friendship to romance.
"Oh, okay" said Anna rather sad. "Bye Hiccup see you in a few weeks!" said Anna was she waved frantically to Hiccup who in turn waved back in response.
Once the Queen and the Princess were far enough Hiccup decide that it was now finally time to call it quits. He walked back to his ship and told his men that they could finally get to go home.
.
.
.
Nightfall had arrived.
The vikings had left, sailing their way to their home were they can see their families.
Few were awake at the moment, the guards stood around the castle protecting it as they should.
The staff were around the castle cleaning and preparing it for tomorrow were the process would be repeated once more.
The princess, she did as what she normally would and began to brush her hair as she stared at her home through the large glass mirror. She could hardly believe what had happened, the Chief had managed to convince her sister to visit Berk. The princess was happy for after all these years she would be able to explore the world, if only a small fraction of it.
The best part was the fact that she would be able to spend more time with Hiccup. She could not deny that the feelings for the young man were going stronger with each passing day. Her mind began to wander at what might happened back at Berk.
"No Hiccup, not here, we can't do it here..."
"Then why are you not resisting my wife?"
"I...I"
"That's not good, your not being honest Anna, and girls who aren't being honest need to punished."
"No Hiccup that spot is sensitive, Ahhh..."
"Anna, it's me Elsa, can you open the door?
The voice snapped the woman out of her naughty little trance, she rushed to the door and opened with out any thought.
"Thank you Anna I...why is your face red?" asked the sister who noticed the tomato colored face that her sister was sporting at the moment.
"Ah no reason." the younger sister said while avoiding eye contact. "So what brings you here Elsa, wanted to read me a bedtime story?" asked Anna with humor.
"No Anna, I need you to get dressed. There is a place I wanted to show you." said Elsa with a no signs of playfulness. Her serious attitude made Anna a bit nervous, she knew that the day was going to well.
"At this hour Elsa?"
"Yes. Please hurry Anna. It's very important." Again the words made Anna nervous, still her sister had allowed for her to go to Berk so the least she could do is agree to her request.
"Okay Elsa, give me a minute and I'll be right there." Elsa nodded to her sister's statement and stepped out of the room so that her sister could have some privacy while changing. Once she was done Anna stepped out of her room and saw that Elsa was waiting in the hallway.
"Your done, good let's go." Elsa began walking at a fast pace with her sister following behind her.
"Hold on Elsa, where are we going?"
"It's difficult to explain, please just trust me Anna."
Despite the vague answer that was given to Anna, the younger sister did as she was told and followed her sister. Her path led her all the way to the stables were two horses were awaiting there arrival.
"Elsa?"
"Yes Anna, we will be riding the horses. C'mon before it get's any darker."
Both Elsa and Anna straddled there horses. Once they were properly comfortable Elsa began to guide her horse to the outside, with Anna following in tow. As there horses ran across the bridge Anna could not help but noticed how they were furthering themselves from the castle and approaching the ever dense forest that lied before them. The young sister would be lying if she did not feel a bit nervous, yet her sister looked ever so calm.
"Elsa, just were are we going?"
To be continued...
...Uh so three months. IT's been about three months since I last updated. Sorry about that. This chapter took a long time but her It's 10,000 words which is double what I usually do for chapters so yay?
In all honestly I apologize for such a late update, I got caught behind so much stuff that I didn't have time to work on this. So again I apologize.
Anyways Act 1 is finished, that's right I bet you wren't expecting this story to be told in act's huh. Well now Act two will begin with Chapter 6 and end with chapter 10 and Act 3 will start with Chapter 11 and end with chapter 15 which will also conclude the story. I want to make this 15 chapters with the each chapter between 5,000 to 7,000 words, with the exception of this one. Why? I don't know that just seems like acceptable to me in term's of length. Not to long and not to short.
I pretty sure you all guessed where Act two will take place. It's time for toothless, Stoick, and everyone else to make an appearance!
Also I left another hint to the antagonist, I'm pretty sure some of you should have guessed by now who it is.
So that's it for now, hopefully I will see you guys again in just a few weeks and not three months.
For now please read and review. I really appreciate it.
