As promised the second part to the last chapter. This turned out a lot longer than I planned originally, so it can also be considered as the final chapter on its own.

Thanks for your support and love you've shown during this little project :)

And as always thank you for your follows, favorites and comments and PM's :) Special shout-out to Maddie!

PS. I'll later edit the few previous chapters more and then tag this story complete.

*Knock knock*

Gail withdrew her hand from the door holding her breath and stood next to Holly waiting for the door to open. She glanced at Holly. The brunette looked calm and maybe even a little.. excited? The poor little thing is going to get a shock, when she meets.. Gail's thoughts were interrupted, when the door opened and her mother appeared in the doorway. Dressed stylishly as always. Oozing quiet commanding power and authority.

Elaine nodded as she silently seemed to appraise Holly. And then Gail. And then Holly again.

"Mom?" Gail prompted breaking the silence. Her fingers were intertwined with Holly and she soothingly caressed the back of the brunette's hand with her thumb.

"Yes." Elaine nodded glancing at her daughter, before moving her eyes back on the brunette next to her.

"This is.." Gail started to introduce Holly.

"You're my daughter's future wife? Holly? Mother of her still unplanned children?" The regal looking redhead blocking the door asked calmly as she eyed Holly from head to toe.

"Mom! Oh my God! What are you.." Gail screeched panicking. She and Holly hadn't yet talked about.. stuff like that.. Marriage and babies! And now her mother was meddling and Holly was sure to make a run for it. "Holly I.."

"I am. Someday." Holly cut in and smiled pleasantly at Elaine, while Gail's jaw slacked. The blond just gawked at the two other women "Holly Stewart. Nice to meet you Mrs. Peck." Holly said extending her hand.

"Likewise." The superintendent nodded smiling softly and pulled Holly into a hug. "Please call me Elaine." She added with a genuine smile. Gail was stunned speechless in utter disbelief.

"Please come in." Elaine motioned inside.

"Honey? Come on." Holly tugged Gail to get her moving.

"She smiled at you." Gail got out, when they were hanging their coats.

"Yes."

"She.. My mother.. She hugged you!" Gail breathed in disbelief.

"Yes." Holly look at Gail curiously. "She did. Is that bad?"

"It's.. It's.. weird and.. and.. unexpected." Gail stumbled over her words.

"It was nice. Your mother seems nice."

"Nice? It must be a ploy." Gail decided getting an eye roll from her girlfriend. "It's a ploy, I tell you."

"Oh shush. Let's go. Show me the way."

"This way." Gail took Holly's hand and led her forwards. "Be alert. Brace yourself." She whispered, before entering the dining room. "Don't let your guard down."

"Do I need to get you a tranquilizer?" Holly teased.

"No. I need to stay focused." Gail said seriously.

"Right." Holly puffed not able to hold her eyes from rolling.

.

Gail and Holly stopped at the entryway to the room. Numerous pairs of eyes latching on them. Gail cleared her throat and forced a nervous smile on her face.

"Hey." Gail gave a little wave to everyone.

"Hello Pumpkin." Gail's father George hugged his daughter and pecked her cheek.

"Hey dad." Gail breathed some tension leaving her body. "This is Holly. Holly, my father George."

"Hello, nice to meet you." Holly greeted smiling.

"Like wise." George smiled. "Gail has kept you to herself too long. We'll interrogate you tonight." He smirked winking.

"I was kind of expecting that." Holly grinned. "Grilling was it?" She met Gail's eyes and shoulder bumped her.

"Gail, have you scared the poor girl?" George scolded.

"Does she look scared?" Gail countered.

"No. Holly looks.. Prepared." Gail's father smiled widely and gave Holly a hug. "This is Steve." He turned and gestured to his son.

"We've met." Holly nodded smiling at Steve and Traci.

"You've met Steve?" Elaine gasped seemingly appalled. "But not us? Gail's parents." She stressed.

"Yes.. But.." Holly answered hesitantly. "I'm very happy to meet you now." She gave a small smile.

"Mom, it's.."

"Your doing, I know. Hiding this lovely girl from us." Elaine smirked.

"Yeah, but.."

"I was teasing darling! Relax! And moving on.. Table is set. Let's eat." Elaine continued taking a hold of Holly's arm and steering her to sit next to her.

"So Holly you've moved here from Toronto I heard. How have you liked it here?" Elaine asked Holly after they had settled at the dinner table, who started rattling how she liked the city and that it was reasonably close to Montreal where her parents lived.

"Something's fishy in.. Toronto.." Gail muttered to Traci sitting next to her.

"Huh?" Traci met Gail's eyes. "Everything's going nicely isn't it?"

"Mom's being too nice. Too.. smiley. It's unnerving."

"Eat your vegetables dear." Elaine reminded Gail from across the table.

"Hmpf." Gail grimaced.

"Funny girl." Elaine deadpanned.

"Gail? Funny?" Traci lifted her eyebrow.

"She's always making faces." George supplied with a teasing smirk on his lips.

"I'm a funny easygoing person."

"Yes hilarious." Traci scoffed dryly.

"So, how's the season going?" Steve inserted changing the subject.

"Have you secured a place at the finals?" George locked gazes with Gail.

"We are in the finals." Gail's smile was victorious. "We are going to win the championship." She boasted.

"Mighty confident." Steve noted dryly.

"She has a good reason to be." Traci defended. "We have a good team and we have played well. If we keep it up, we have a very good chance of taking the trophy."

"And we refuse to lose." Holly's twinkling eyes met Gail's and she rubbed the blond's thigh with her palm.

"Gail, darling, you should get us those t-shirt with your slogan! We'll wear them at the games." Elaine said eagerly.

"You? You want to wear a t-shirt with 'Refuse to lose' printed on it?"

"Yes."

"Out in public?" Gail asked with a scoff.

"Yes darling. In public to support you and your team." Elaine chuckled.

"It's not Gucci or anything." Gail pointed out. "Just a T-shirt."

"I know. I want one and George wants one too. Right?" Elaine looked at George.

"Of course." Gail's father nodded.

"Fine. I'll get you two Rockets' shirts." Gail shook her head in disbelief. "You want a foam finger too?" She asked cheekily looking at her prim mother.

"What is that?" Elaine asked, before continuing. "Oh, is that the thing you wave around for support?"

"Something like that, yeah."

"One for me." Elaine nodded seriously.

"The superintendent of Toronto is going to be waving a foam finger around at the stadium? You're bound to end up in the papers with the headline 'Peck gives you the finger'!" Gail snickered and then snorted.

"Well, that headline sounds a bit grass, but any publicity is good publicity." Elaine laughed. "I want one."

"One finger coming up." Gail smirked, but her mother did not take the bait.

"Lovely dear."

.

The dinner had gone pleasantly. Elaine noted that Holly had finished and decided to whisk the girl away for a little while. She waited until her daughter's girlfriend had put the utensils down and put the napkin away to be sure.

"Holly, are you finished?"

"Yes, thank you." Holly met Elaine's eyes. "It was delicious."

"Glad you liked it." Elaine nodded looking pleased. "You mentioned earlier that you like to cook?"

"I like it yes. It's a passion of mine. I'm interested in trying new recipes and new foods."

"Oh?"

"I also have a habit of trying to cook courses I've had in restaurants." Holly revealed with a lopsided grin. "With varied results."

"Oh gosh, me too!" Elaine nearly squeaked and got looks from the others. Especially her children. She cleared her throat. "So, um.. Would you come with me for a moment Holly?"

Holly glanced at Gail. "Sure." She said getting up.

"Um.. I'll come with." Gail started to get up also.

"No no. You stay here darling. I want to show Holly something." Elaine motioned for Gail to stay put.

"Mom." Gail sounded warning.

"I'll show her my pasta maker." Elaine supplied calmly. "You know, grandma's old one."

"Oh. I'd really like to see it." Holly said standing up.

"Lovely dear. Come then." Elaine smiled sweetly and took a hold of Holly's hand.

"But.. But.." Gail croaked.

"We'll be fine." Holly soothed and then followed Elaine out of the dining room.

"You see that?" Gail gasped flicking her gaze at her father, Steve and Traci. "Mother lured Holly away. With promises of food talk and ancient appliances!"

"You think she has set up the polygraph?" Steve taunted smirking.

"Crap!" Gail breathed flicking her eyes to the hallway.

"Calm down sweetheart. I think your mother fell in love. No need to worry." Gail's father pondered. "Holly is a sweet girl."

"She is." Gail agreed.

"And she shares your mother's passion."

"Cooking?" Gail guessed.

"Yes."

"Do you think they really went to see the pasta maker?" Gail asked hesitantly.

"No."

"Shit." Gail groaned.

"Gail. No swearing!" Her father scolded. "At the dinner table."

"Sorry." Gail said absentmindedly as she stared at the entry to the dining room. "Would mom rip me a new one, if I went after them."

"She might."

"Right.." Gail sighed. "I'll risk it." She said bolting out the room.

.

"Your house is lovely." Holly said walking next to Gail's mother. She liked the older woman and frankly didn't understand Gail's nervousness. Maybe Gail was just unsure how her mother would react to Gail bringing a girl home for the first time. Elaine seemed excited to Holly. And Holly had no trouble being connected to a polygraph, if Mrs. Peck saw it necessary. She would do anything for Gail.

"Thank you." Elaine smiled and looped her arm with Holly's. "I'm sorry about the way I greeted you at the door." Elaine apologized, when she guided Holly along the hallway.

"It's okay." Holly waved it off.

"It really wasn't and I am sorry. I just wanted to gauge your reaction, but more than that.. my daughter's."

"And?"

"She loves you. You love her." Elaine said softly.

"Is it that obvious?" Holly prodded.

"It is." Elaine said. "I just wanted to see for myself. I'm Gail's mother, I need to protect her. She may seem hard on the outside, but she is such a sweet and sensitive girl."

"I'm not going to hurt her."

"I know." Elaine patted Holly's arm. "I know." She repeated with conviction.

"Is the polygraph next?" Holly asked after a moment.

"What?" Elaine snorted meeting Holly's serious eyes.

"Gail said something about.."

"Right! My machine of doom! I did use that trusty old thing on Steve's former girlfriend. For kicks." Elaine smirked remembering. "I knew her already before and I wasn't that fond of her. And Steve didn't stop me, so that told a lot about his feelings for her."

"Oh."

"Traci is perfect for our Stevie." Elaine said as they entered the kitchen.

"They are good together." Holly agreed. "Lovely kitchen." She observed the space.

"Thank you. I just had it renovated." Elaine ghosted her palm on the island surface. "So Gail told me you're going to be doctor?"

"Yes. I'll be going back to school in a few years."

"Wonderful. It will be nice to have a doctor in the family."

"Oh." Holly smiled happy that Elaine included her in their family. "I'll be working with dead people.. actually." She blurted and then fell silent. What a nice conversation topic! Dead people! She groaned inwardly.

"As a pathologist?" Elaine seemed unfaced by Holly's career choice.

"Yes. I find it fascinating and rewarding." Holly answered.

"Helping people who can no longer help themselves." Elaine nodded. "I respect that tremendously."

.

Gail jogged the hallway towards the kitchen. She had already checked her mother's den, where she usually held her unofficial meetings and 'interrogations'. After finding the den empty, Gail had took off to check the kitchen.

"Holly?" Gail all but roared as she barged into the kitchen and startled her mother and Holly, who were huddled next to each other over the island.

"You scared the bejesus out of us!" Elaine scolded with her hand on her thumping heart.

"Sorry, but.."

"You thought I hooked Holly to my machine right?" Elaine asked keeping a straight face.

"No." Gail denied, but when her mother's poker face did not slip she added.. "Maybe. So.. Um.. How's everything?"

"Gail." Holly berated softly. "Elaine here was just showing me her favorite restaurants and food shops on the tablet." She pointed to the device in Gail's mother's hand.

"Oh." Gail looked sheepish. "Anything interesting?"

"Yes. We are invited to dinner with your parents at the Pausini next Thursday." Holly met Elaine's eyes. "And we're going."

"Of course." Gail agreed rubbing Holly's side with her hand. "You really showed her that?" Gail pointed at the pasta maker resting on the table

"I did." Elaine lifted a well-manicured eyebrow. "Why?"

"No reason. I guess dad was wrong." Gail shrugged. "And right too."

"You're being very cryptic." Elaine shook her head and turned back to her tablet. "Here - Holly, this is another fantastic Italian restaurant on Brookstreet. Gino's."

"We must go there someday too."

"Yes, darling." Elaine smiled brightly at Holly. "We must."

"What's going on here?" Gail asked baffled.

"Gail sweetie, I like Holly. Your father likes her."

"And?"

"We love her." Elaine said pointedly.

"Oh." A wide smile spread on Gail's face.

"Don't let her get away." Elaine gave a quick hug and a wink, "Let's go eat some dessert girls. Chocolate cake." She said on her way out the kitchen.

"What the hell?" Gail exhaled dazed. "What's wrong with her? She didn't torment you at all?"

"We bonded." Holly shrugged with a lopsided grin adorning her face.

"Obviously." Gail returned the grin. "So, all my stressing was unnecessary." She concluded pouting.

"It really was."

"Crap." Gail huffed in mock annoyance.

"Let's go get some cake."

"In a minute." Gail murmured and pulled Holly to her.

"What do you have in mind?" Holly asked softly.

"This." Gail sighed happily, when her lips fell upon Holly's.

.

After dessert and saying goodbye with lot of hugging involved and promising to come to dinner again soon, Holly and Gail had managed to get out of the house and escape to Gail's car. Holly had hopped behind the wheel, claiming that Gail needed to rest after being anxious almost all the night. They had driven for a while, when Holly turned to look at Gail who was silently brooding.

"You're awfully quiet. What are you thinking?" Holly asked in a gentle tone making Gail meet her eyes, before the brunette turned them back to gaze at the road ahead.

"Never thought I'd find someone. Someone like you Holly. I found you." Gail whispered. "I feel so lucky."

"We are. We are lucky."

"We are." Gail repeated.

"I love you." Holly squeezed Gail's hand under her own resting on the blond's thigh.

"I love you." Gail lifted Holly's hand to her lips and kissed the soft skin. "My father loves you. Even my mother loves you! I think she loves you more than me." She whined playfully.

"She might." Holly smirked.

"I stressed for nothing!" Gail reminded again. "For God knows how long! For nothing. They all loved you right from the start. No polygraph or interrogations. All that stress for.."

"Honey, I'll relieve your stress." Holly purred glancing at Gail stopping the blond's escalating rant. "I promise."

"Oh?" Gail's breath hitched at the look on her girlfriend face. "Well.. I deserve it. I was so worried that mom would.. make you run."

"She didn't. I liked your mother. I like your family." Holly said. "I won't run. I'm staying."

"You better. I won't let you get away anyway." Gail said seriously, before smiling. "I thought she would at least .. test you. A little."

"I think she did. But quite subtly, I'd say." Holly shrugged.

"She isn't usually that subtle.. I really have to get her that foam finger." Gail snorted shaking her head. "But.. Back to what you were saying.. How would you ease my stress riddled body? Exactly?" She looked at Holly under her lashes.

"I'd.." Holly started glancing at Gail, who was looking expectant with darkened eyes boring into Holly. "You're horny. Do you want me to find a secluded place to park?" The brunette grinned mischievously. "So I can unwind you?"

"Seriously?" Gail swallowed, when Holly nodded. "Um.. Go ahead. Pull over."

.

Scattered clothes were lying all over the inside of Gail's car with the windows fogged up. Holly lifted her head up from between Gail's legs, wiped her mouth and snuggled the naked blond sprawled on the backseat.

"Oh, God that was good." Gail exhaled tightening her hold on Holly.

Holly gave Gail a lingering kiss and sucked her lower lip. "Just what the doctor ordered." Holly let go of Gail's lip with a pop.

"I do feel better." Gail wiped the sweaty locks from Holly's forehead, before pecking the brunette on the side of the mouth. "We just had sex in my car." She exhaled in awe.

"We did."

"I've never done that. It. In the car." Gail snickered softly. "You're a wild one Holls."

"I know. I'm a badass." Holly boasted.

"Badass is a pretty strong title. I don't think, if that.." Gail grinned happily.

"It suites me." Holly silenced Gail with a kiss. "On somedays. Days like today."

"Okay, I'll give you that. You were badass today." Gail smirked, before latching her eyes on Holly's. "I love you Holly." She whispered softly.

"I love you too Gail." Holly murmured.

"I'll never get tired of hearing you say that."

"I'll never get tired saying it." Holly promised.

.

And they lived happily ever after - The end.
