Hello lovelies! So I just realized that this story is almost over. There are only a few chapters left until the end! I can't believe it's already almost over, I've had a lot more fun writing this than I thought I would. I will probably be doing another story based off of a movie sometime in the future, but for now, I'm going to focus on finishing this story.
Anywhoo~ Enjoy!
Deidara and Sasori sat quietly eating their breakfast at the kitchen table. Neither of them spoke much since they woke up. What was there to talk about? Deidara hated Sasori's job and Sasori refused to quit, so Deidara took matters into his own hands to try to fix things and get their life straightened out if they ever hoped of having any kind of future together.
Deidara glanced up from his breakfast and smiled at Sasori. "I'll be starting work early next week, un."
Sasori raised a brow at his lover and shook his head. "Just wait until you're fully recovered."
Deidara gave a slight pout and glanced down at his cast. "But my cast comes off tomorrow. I'm well enough to start working, un."
Sasori frowned at the blonde and grunted. "What job? If it's too hard, I won't allow you to do it."
Deidara grinned and sat up, bouncing slightly like an excited child on Christmas morning. "No, un. It's a wonderful job at the second hand bookshop! The owner is a super nice retired teacher. She said when there aren't any customers, I'm free to read books and I can borrow books to take home as well, un."
Sasori couldn't help but to smile softly at the blonde's excitement. "That's great, Dei. What's the salary?"
"Hm. $200 from 10am to 6pm."
The redhead nodded as he took another bite of his breakfast. "That's good."
Deidara's grin grew as he spoke. "But that's not all, un. The best part is that she needs TWO salesmen."
Sasori paused in his chewing, his chocolate eyes flicking up to meet the blonde's shining baby blue ones. He raised a crimson brow at his lover.
Deidara nodded happily and sat up. "I told her about you and she agreed to meet you at 2pm today for an interview, un. I know you'll get the job, she's super chill and there's no way she'll turn you down." He lowered his gaze to his hands in his lap, he couldn't help the smile plastered to his face as he continued. "We can work at the same place, Danna. It's what I've been dreaming of." He glanced back up at Sasori and flashed a bright smile. "You don't have to be a prostitute anymore, un!"
Sasori didn't say anything for a moment, simply looking away and sighing softly to himself. He snorted and shook his head before fixing his gaze back to the younger male. "I won't do it. I have my own job."
Deidara's face dropped, his chest tightening as he swallowed a lump forming in his throat. "I-I thought you wanted to get out of it, un."
The older male frowned and chewed on the inside of his cheek, nodding slowly. "I've tried. I've tried quitting several times but fail every time."
Deidara looked down slightly and took a deep breath. Raising his gaze and locking eye contact with Sasori as he reached across the table and took Sasori's hand in his own. "Try once more. You're living with me now, un. Not with Orochimaru. Please, Sasori Danna..."
Sasori stared back into his lover's hopeful, pleading azure eyes with his own unreadable mahogany ones. "Whoever I live with, it's always the same. This is my life, my fate. I accept it, and you should accept it too, Deidara." He removed his hand from Deidara's and continued eating, breaking their eye contact in favour of looking off to the side.
Deidara slowly retracted his hand as he lowered his head. Disappointment clear on his face. He wanted nothing more than to be with Sasori and live a normal life with no prostitution. His chest and head ached again, he thought he'd found a solution to their problems but he was wrong. His dream was shattered and he was left with the same pain as before. But he didn't want to ruin the time he had with Sasori by crying about something he clearly had no control over. It was hopeless trying to change Sasori.
After breakfast, the couple got dressed and left for the day. They took a long walk around town and stopped at the local park to feed the ducks by the pond. Deidara rested his head on Sasori's shoulder as they sat, hand in hand, watching the ducks eat the bread crumbs they'd left for them.
He looked up to the clear blue sky, not a cloud in sight. The sun warming his skin with the occasional cool breeze made for the perfect day spent with his lover. He nuzzled Sasori and closed his eyes, inhaling his scent and smiling to himself. He wished they could stay like this forever, he didn't want Sasori to go back to work. He'd rather be starving and living off the streets with the red head than to have a roof over his head and food in his belly but have Sasori go out and work that damned job of his.
Sasori squeezed Deidara's hand and placed a tender kiss on his forehead as he whispered. "I love you."
Deidara looked at Sasori and smiled, pulling him into a loving kiss. Their soft lips pressed firmly together for a few moments before parting. His azure eyes met warm chocolate ones as he whispered back. "I love you too, un."
Later that night, Deidara sat outside on the steps of his and Sasori's apartment building, alone, looking up to the starry night sky as silent tears rolled down his pink dusted cheeks.
Sasori left earlier to go to work to which Deidara didn't even bother protesting. There was no point in arguing with Sasori about it, he knew how he felt about it and yet he refused to quit.
Deidara closed his eyes and sighed heavily before drying his eyes on his sleeve and standing up to go back inside. Slowly drifting off into a deep sleep as he laid there in the dark, feeling a numbing pain all over. He just wanted it all to end. He hated this feeling of being alone knowing where his lover was and what he was doing. He didn't want to sleep in an empty bed anymore, he wanted to sleep in Sasori's arms and wake up and get ready to go work at the bookshop with him every day.
But that wouldn't happen. It never would and that's what broke Deidara's heart the most.
"Deidara!"
"Ah, yes?"
"Why are you crying, dear?"
Deidara wiped his tears and put on a smile as he looked up at the old woman who owned the bookshop. "Oh, uh, this book is too emotional for me, un." He chuckled lightly.
The old woman adjusted her glasses and squinted her eyes as she examined the book. She raised a silver brow and laughed at the blonde. "Oh dear, that book moved you?" She shook her head and ruffled the blonde's hair. "You're funny."
Deidara smiled weakly and gave a short nod, waiting for the old woman to shuffle away before dropping his smile and opting to chewing on his bottom lip instead. The book was a humorous one, but it wasn't the reason he was crying. He couldn't keep his mind from wandering to Sasori and how he could be here with him, reading, working, and laughing together instead of selling his body to strangers every other night.
He shook his head and pulled himself together, going back to reading his book to try and distract himself. Maybe Sasori would change his mind about coming and working there with him. He hoped he would, though he knew it was hopeless, it's all he had left to keep himself from being a sniveling mess all the time.
Aww, poor Dei-Dei! Will things ever look up for him and Sassy? Maybe...guess you'll just have to read and find out! Updates for this will be pretty quick since this is my main focus until it's over.
Anyways, I hope you all enjoyed! Don't forget to review and have a beautiful day~
