Chapter 8
Ev followed behind Scott to Derek's train late at night. She was tired and she needed sleep. She had a feeling she had a long couple of days ahead of her as she ran her hands over her eyes.
"You got Jackson but he ran through a metal door," Ev pointed out, "I think it's safe to say he's a bit out of our league."
"I'm saying we need a new plan, because next time, one of us is gonna be too hurt to heal," Derek said and then looked to her, "Or not able to heal at all."
"I get it. We can't save Jackson," Scott said sorrowfully.
"There has to be a way," Ev said, shaking her head, "He doesn't deserve this. He's not doing this on his own judgment."
"Well we can't seem to kill him either. I've seen a lot of things, Scott. I've never seen anything like this. Every new moon's just gonna make him stronger," Derek said, looking far off.
"But how do we stop him?" Scott asked.
"Scott," Ev said gently, "None of us know and I'm starting to think that none of us can."
"Maybe we should just let the Argents handle it," he suggested.
Ev scoffed, "I don't even think they can handle themselves."
"I'm the one who turned him. It's my fault," Derek said with guilt and she put her hand on his shoulder.
"It's not your fault," she assured him with kind eyes, "You didn't turn him into this. I mean, this happened because of something in his past, right?"
"That's a legend in a book. It's not that simple," Derek said, sounding exhausted.
"What do you mean? What are you not telling me?" Scott asked accusingly.
"Why do you think I'm always keeping something from you?"
"Because you always are keeping something from me," Scott said and then glanced at Ev, "And from her too."
"Well, maybe I do it to protect you," he countered and looked to Ev, "both of you."
"Doesn't being part of your pack mean no more secrets?" the younger wolf argued and Derek sighed, looking to him.
"Go home, Scott. Sleep. Heal. Make sure your friends are safe," he suggested but somehow it sounded like a warning," 'Cause the full moon's coming. And with the way things are going, I've got a feeling it's gonna be a rough one."
Scott took his suggestion and left. Ev stayed behind and sat down next to Derek on the steps of the train car.
"He's not the only one who could use some sleep," she said and looked around the depressing place he resided in, "And when was the last time you slept in a real bed with a good night's rest."
"The last time I slept next to you," he replied and she sighed, looking down.
"I'm sorry," she whispered.
"Sleep with me?" he asked.
"Derek-"
"Not sex, Ev," he said with pleading eyes, "Just sleep next to me tonight. Please. I need you in my arms again."
"Just sleep?"
He smirked, "Unless you do that thing where you wake up in the middle of the night thinking you have to use the bathroom but you're actually horny."
"Hey that's your fault," she said defensively, "You would always be there in the middle of the night if you weren't there when I fell asleep. You basically programmed me."
He chuckled, "Well then mission accomplished."
They laughed together and then their faces sobered. Slowly, he leaned in and his lips almost touched hers.
"Sleep," she managed to say, "We're supposed to be sleeping."
"Right," he said, clearly amused as he stood up and she followed him to a corner of the train car where there was a makeshift mattress made up of a bundle of sheets and two pillows.
"So this is where the wolf slumbers," she teased as she took off her shoes and socks.
"I'm pretty sure you've seen this before," he said, throwing down a few more pillows, "In fact I think you've done more than see it."
"You're thinking of the side of the train car," she said quickly, her cheeks reddening.
"And one of these seats," he said, looking at her with a mischievous glint in his eye.
"We never did…that in a subway car chair, Derek," she said with her hands on her hips.
"Allow me to refresh your memory," he said and picked her up and sat down with her in the nearest seat so she was straddling him," I was sitting like this."
He grabbed her by her hips and gently grinded against so a moan left her lips, "You were making noises like that.
"And somewhere along the line I did this," he said, his hands wandering beneath her shirt to her bra as his hands cupped her breast.
"I don't remember this," she said, his lips on her pulse.
"Because I was predicting the future," he said with a grin.
She took a deep breath and pushed him away by his shoulders, "Derek, please. You're making this hard."
"I could say the same about you," he teased and she rolled her eyes at him, "Don't tell me you don't want this."
"After I said two times before this that it was the last time," she said in frustration, "Derek, I can't keep doing this. I can't keep thinking about you. I can't keep letting you make me want you because believe in me I want you. I want you so bad but I can't. I just-I can't. I can't get you of my head and I am so damn sexually frustrated."
She stood up and turned her back to him, running her hands through her hair, "I shouldn't be here. I should just go. I should…I should…"
Derek turned her to him and looked her right in the eye and said, "You should shut up and let me make it better."
He grabbed her face as if she would run and kissed her with all he had. He picked her up and then wrapped her legs around his waist, her ankles locking behind him as he dropped to his knees and they fell back in the sheet mattress.
"Derek we shouldn't be-" she began as he sucked her neck, marking her as his own.
"Ev, I love you but I swear to God," he growled, "If the next words out of that mouth of yours aren't 'Fuck me, Derek' I will make sure you can't walk right for a week. Now shut up and let me take care of you."
Despite his warning she was about to chew him out but instead he kissed her to shut her up. He unbuttoned her shorts, the very ones that got him thinking about doing this to her and slid his fingers inside her panties. She pulled away from his kiss as he applied pressure to her clit and gasped for air.
Ever since they'd broken up, he'd been right. She'd woken up wanting him at two or three in the morning many times and back when she'd actually had will power she had taken care of it herself. Now as she lay underneath him with his fingers doing the same thing she had done more times than she'd cared to admit, she couldn't believe why she hadn't just called him to help out. She would close her eyes and imagine him doing this to her and when she finally pushed herself over the edge she'd moan his name and all along she could have been doing this.
He slipped a finger inside her already wet sex and her hand flew to her side, reaching for something to grip but the sheets kept slipping through her weak fingers that couldn't seem to grasp onto anything until Derek's free hand found hers and she held onto his for dear life.
"Is it better when I do it?" he asked and she nodded furiously as he slipped another finger inside her and curled them up. She dug her nails into Derek's hand and wondered why this made her so out of control. She knew why.
After so long without him her hormones were punishing her by making each and everything he did have the intensity of a wildfire.
He continued to pleasure her as she threw her head back and his teeth scraped her neck. She bunched his t shirt in her hand.
"Why didn't you just call me?" he whispered as she fluttered her eyes opened and stared up at the stars across her vision, "Every time you woke up needing me why didn't you just call? I was always right there."
She was far gone but she managed to ask, "What?"
"You really think I would leave you unprotected at night," he whispered in her ear and she gasped as he licked her lobe and moved his fingers just a bit faster, "Every. Single. Night. I'd come to check on you and you'd wake up and you'd need me and I could hear you. I tried not to but no matter what I did I could hear you whispering my name as you took care of yourself and I'd listen to you make yourself come and God it was the sexiest thing I'd ever heard. "
"You…you could hear me?" she asked in embarrassment but not enough to care because he was still pushing her closer and closer to the edge.
"Yes baby I could," he said and his thumb found her clit as whole new level of feeling hit her like a tsunami, "And it took all I had not to come in there and fuck you senseless."
He completely pulled down her panties and shorts and moved down her body until mouth was added to the equation. She threw her head back and reached for his hair as she reeled.
Her breathing shallow, her back arched, and a call of his name was what she came with and she came hard. Harder than she ever had with her own digits and harder than she ever would with that thing Mary Ann joked about sending her when she'd mentioned her frustration on the phone last week and Derek took pride in that fact when she was done as he placed a kiss on her hip and pulled her shorts back up. He laid down at her side as she stared up at the ceiling, her entire body flushed and breath still ragged.
"Satisfied?" he teased, nipping at her ear.
"Uh-huh," she nodded with a lazy smile.
"Still frustrated?"
"Uh-uh," she managed to say, shaking her head as sleep began to find her.
"Good," he replied with a chuckle and kissed her cheek, "Now sleep little red riding hood. The bid bad wolf's had enough for tonight."
"Mhm," she mumbled and joined the land of the slumber. It wasn't long before he followed after her.
TEEN WOLF
Ev woke up to the sound of her phone ringing and she sat up with a groan. She felt a shift next to her and turned to see Derek, fast asleep. Last night came flooding back to her.
"Shit," she whispered, grabbing her phone and accidentally hitting the accept button, "Shit."
She put the phone to her ear, "Hello?"
"Hi, Ev," a familiar voice said on the other line.
"Yes this is she," she whispered, managing to get up without waking Derek, "I'm sorry I don't recognize this number."
"It's Lydia. Lydia Martin."
"Oh, hi, Lydia," she said as she tried to find her shoes and socks.
"Ev why are you whispering?" Lydia asked.
"No reason," she said quickly, finally finding one of her shoes and crawling on the ground to find the other, " Is everything alright? We never did get to talk."
"Everything's great," she said in a happy voice, "In fact today is my birthday. I'm having a party and I want you to be there."
"Oh happy birthday," she said in a voice louder than she intended and Derek stirred. She froze in her place.
"Ev? Ev? Ev are you still there?"
Derek stopped moving and she sighed in relief, "Yeah, I'm here. Text me all the details and I'll be there."
"Thanks!" she squealed and Ev hoped it wasn't loud enough for Derek to hear, "I can't wait. See you tonight."
"See you Lydia," she whispered and ended the call as she finally found her other shoe, both socks tucked inside and her car keys as well. She sighed in relief and finally made it out of the train car without waking Derek.
She heard voices as she was about to leave and Derek's pack members entered the building. She froze as they spotted her and she realized there was no getting out of this one. Busted.
"Ev," Isaac said in surprise and quickly gave her a hug, "Hey. How are you?"
"Good," she said with a small smile, "I was just…um…"
"Sneaking out," Erica finished for her and Ev glared at her but bit her tongue in an effort to keep the peace.
"Something like that," she replied, looking back at the train car.
"The whole morning after makeup looks good on you," Erica taunted and it took everything she had not to hit the girl.
"Thanks," she said through clenched teeth.
"He's still sleeping," Boyd said, speaking up, "I can hear his heartbeat. If you leave now you'll be fine."
"Thank you, " she said gratefully, "Tell him I had to go."
"Sure you do," Erica said and Ev glared at her as she walked towards the exit.
"Ev," Isaac called after her and she turned to him, "Thanks."
"For what?" she asked in confusion.
"Well Derek's been kind of grumpy lately," he said seriously and then he grinned, "I'm sure he's in a better mood now."
"You're worse than your brother was," she said, punching him in the shoulder as he laughed and she fled.
TEEN WOLF
She made it to her house ten minutes later to see Stiles Jeep in her driveway and the boy himself and Scott sitting on her doorstep.
As she made her way to him, shoes in hand and keys in the other she realized how bad this must look.
"Where have you been?" Stiles asked with a raised brow and parental tone.
"Honestly?" she asked, shoving past them and unlocking the door.
"That would be preferable," Stiles said, coming through the door without her permission and Scott shot her an apologetic look.
She shut the door and turned to them, "Debating whether or not to drive off a bridge in regret and shame."
"Well good," Stiles said, "That's what you should feel for having pity ex hook up lonely sex with Derek."
"I didn't have pity ex lonely hook up sex with, Derek," she yelled at him, her hands on her head.
"You look like the poster child for the morning after!"
"Stiles I did not have sex with Derek!" she yelled at him, "Wait, why am I even answering to you?"
"Are you lying?" he asked then turned to Scott, "Is she lying?"
Scott gave her an apologetic look, "Uh, yeah, she is."
"I'm not lying," she said with an eye roll and then sighed, looking down, "He-we- I let him…we didn't technically have sex okay!"
"Oh gross," Stiles said with a groan, "I'm starting to think you don't know what a break up is."
"I know what a break up is, Stiles," she said, pushing past him to the kitchen and grabbing a paper towel as she went to the sink.
"Than why are you having non technical sex with Derek?" he asked, following after her as she wet the paper towel and began wiping the makeup from her eyes.
"Because I am a stressed out twenty two year old woman with needs," she said with a hand on her hip, "Any more questions?"
"So why don't you find someone a little less violent and destructive like maybe a monster truck driver or a convicted felon?" he asked sarcastically.
She groaned loudly and sat down at her kitchen table, putting her head to the surface, "Stiles, I love you. I really do, but I have a tazer at my disposal right now and the more you talk the more I run out of reasons not to use it on you."
"There's actually a reason we're here," Scott said, sitting down on the other side of the table and she looked at him with a raised brow, "We know the connection of all the people the Kanima's going after."
She looked to him with wide eyes as Stiles sat down, an old Beacon Hills yearbook in hand, "That's the year Camden graduated."
"Camden was on the swim team, right?" Stiles asked and she nodded with a gasp.
"Oh my God. His Dad was the coach," she said as he opened up the yearbook to the swim team page, " Bennett was on that team. The mechanic, Tucker, that's how he knew Cam. That couple that got killed, Jessica and Shawn, they met on the swim team. What was that girl's name that died at the rave last night?"
"Kara," Stiles answered.
"Kara," she whispered to herself, thinking out loud, "Kara Simmons?"
Stiles nodded.
"She used to bring food Cam's parties," she said with a far off look, "She liked to bake. How could I not put this together?"
"Because it was so small," Stiles said as she met his eyes, "This little thing is who Jackson's Master is going after."
"But…but the Kanima goes after murderers," she whispered to herself, "And they were all just kids…I was a kid. The only person who could possibly kill someone was Cam's Dad but he wasn't so bad back then."
"Ev?" Scott asked and she looked to him, "Are you sure?"
"Yes, I'm sure," she said defensively, "They would have never killed someone. Cam would have never killed someone. This doesn't make any sense at all. How would a murdered person be controlling Jackson and if he's alive than how are these people murderers?"
"Ev it's just a possibility," Stiles said, trying to calm her down.
"No you don't understand," she said, standing up, "I knew these people. I talked to them. I spent time with them. One of them was my freaking fiancée."
"You never told us you were going to marry Isaac's brother," Scott said with sad eyes.
"Yeah well obviously it never happened," she said, looking down.
"Ev," Stiles said carefully, "I remember once when you were babysitting me…you got a call and then you went into the next room. I kind of eavesdropped and you were yelling about how you were babysitting me and you couldn't leave me alone and come bail him out. Was it Cam?"
She sighed and looked down, "He'd gotten in a fight after a swim meet at a rival school not to far from here and the police came and broke it up. His Dad wasn't there and he didn't want him to know so he wanted me to go bail him out."
"He had a temper?" Scott asked.
"Yes," she admitted, "but he never hurt me and he would have never murdered anyone."
The two of them were quiet and she sighed, "You two know me. You know the kind of person I am. I was going to marry Camden. Do you honestly think I would marry a murderer and not know something was off?"
"Well there's Derek so…" Stiles said and she shot him an exasperated look.
"Derek killed his Uncle who killed his sister and several other people and tried to kill me," she defended, "Doesn't count."
"I'm just saying, Ev-" Scott began.
"I know what you're both saying and I'm telling you Camden died a soldier and a hero. Everyone loved him. The swim team were kids. Whoever this Kanima master is…he's got it all wrong."
Scott sighed, "How can you be so sure?"
"I just am," she said with pleading eyes, "So please. I'm already running at half capacity here and I have to get ready for Lydia's party tonight so if you have any other theories keep them to yourself. Just for today."
The two of them exchanged a look as she pleaded at them with her eyes, "Please guys."
"Guess we'll see you at Lydia's party," Scott said, making the decision for the both of them and she gave him a grateful smile.
"I still wanna kick Derek's ass," Stiles mumbled and she turned to him with a tired smile, "What's going on between you two anyways?"
She opened her mouth to answer but her phone went off signaling she'd gotten a text. She pulled it out to see one from Lydia with the details she'd requested and the other from Derek.
I was hoping you'd be frustrated this morning.
She bit her lip to keep from smiling as she looked down at the text.
"Ev," Scott said, getting her attention, "I kind of want to know too."
She looked between the two, "It's complicated, guys. Really complicated and as soon as I know you will too. Just leave it for now. Derek and I is something only Derek and I can figure out."
"I can save you the trouble," Stiles said with a shrug, "Dump his ass. Move to Guadalajara. Meet a nice alpaca farmer or whatever the hell they do down there and never see his face again."
She rolled her eyes, "You're being dramatic."
"Tell that to your nuclear hickey," he said and she groaned.
"Those are a bitch to cover up," she mumbled.
TEEN WOLF
Ev hung up the phone with relief. Since Mary Ann had told her about her moving here she hadn't done nearly as much apartment searching as she should have. She sent the details that the agent she'd just hung up with to Mary Ann and closed her laptop, pulling off her glasses, satisfied with her work.
She glanced at the clock. Lydia's party wasn't until later and she still had some time on her hands. She glanced at her phone. She'd been texting Derek back and forth since this morning.
Full moon tonight. Be careful around Scott.
She smiled at his protective nature and replied.
You be careful too. Let me know if you need any help with the pack.
She put her phone down and briefly remembered this stage of their relation back when they'd first met. The flirt banter and all day texting. Did this mean they were rebuilding what they once had? The better question was…did she want it to stop?
The doorbell rang and she got up with a sigh, "Who is it?"
"Evangeline, it's Victoria."
She froze at the door, her hand on the knob, "What do you want?"
"To apologize," she called back through the wood.
Against her better judgment Ev opened the door. Victoria stood there with an open, almost vulnerable look in her eye. Something she never had.
"You tried to kill Scott McCall."
"Just listen please. I care deeply for you," she admitted and she was taken aback, "I don't know whether it be because you had your mother taken away from you so horribly or that you are so much like my Allison but I feel a sort of responsibility towards you. I should have known threatening Derek wasn't a way to fulfill that responsibility."
"And Scott?" she asked.
"Please forgive me," Victoria pleaded, " I need this, Ev. I beg of you. Please forgive me."
As she stared at her she knew these were the pleas of a desperate woman. She just didn't know why she was so desperate. Victoria Argent was many things but desperate was not one of them.
"You're forgiven, Victoria," Ev said because saying anything else seemed cruel, "but is everything alright? You seem…"
She trailed off, not sure how to describe it.
"Everything's alright Evangeline," she said with a small smile, "but one last thing. Will you make an effort to become closer to Allison? She looks up to you very much and I would love it if she had someone like you watching after her."
"Of course," she said with a nod, "Are you sure you're alright?"
Victoria nodded with a forced smile and then threw her arms around Ev. She hugged her back in shock more than anything else but it was still genuine.
"You're mother would be so proud," she said, patting her shoulder as she pulled away and began walking to her car.
"Victoria would you like to come inside," Ev called after her.
"No thank you, Evangeline," she said with a nod, "Have a nice day, alright?"
"Alright," she said with a frown and Victoria gave her one last smile, walking off. Ev closed the door behind her and went over the woman's words in her head trying to figure out what had just happened.
TEEN WOLF
Ev stood at the front door of Lydia's house, a small present in hand and regret at agreeing to come. This was a high school party but Lydia had asked her to come and whenever she'd thought about leaving she remembered finding Lydia covered in bite marks and blood at the doing of Peter Hale.
With even more regret of her outfit choice of a white sundress, jeans jacket, and wedges she rang the doorbell. Lydia instantly opened the door with a large smile.
"You made it," she said with a huge smile, "You look so pretty."
"Thank you," she said, stepping inside the oddly quiet house for a party, "You too and your home is lovely."
"Thanks," she replied and Ev handed her the present she'd gotten her. It was a dainty charm bracelet she'd seen in a boutique down town and wanted to get for herself but couldn't bring herself to do it. Now she had a reason.
"I can't wait to see what it is," Lydia said with a grin and pointed outside, "Stiles, Scott, and Allison are here."
She managed a smile, "Great."
"Try the punch," she called after her as Ev made her way outside to the pool.
She expected to see more people but it really was only Stiles, Scott, and Allison.
"I thought Lydia was the popular chick," she said as she approached them.
"Yeah, no one's here," Stiles said.
"Maybe it's just early," Scott reasoned.
"Or maybe nobody's coming because Lydia's turned into the town whackjob," Stiles replied and Ev shot him a warning look.
"Well we have to do something," Ev said, looking around, "It's the girl's birthday. This is sad. She even invited me and I've met her like twice. One of those times when we were being chased by a psychotic killer."
"Ev's right," Allison agreed, "We've completely ignored her for the past two weeks."
"She's completely ignored Stiles the past ten years," Scott countered.
Ev looked at Scott and was about to chew him out but she remembered it was the full moon.
"I prefer to think of it as me not having been on her radar yet," Stiles said with a bit of pride.
"We don't owe her a party," Scott said.
"She got bit by a werewolf and she's spiraling. She needs this. I don't know her that well and even I can tell all she wants is to get back to normal," Ev said, looking from Scott to Stiles to Allison, "So let's do something. Call people. You all have friends don't you?"
"I guess I can I could use my co–captain status to get the lacrosse team here," Scott said with a sigh.
"Yeah, I also know some people who can get this thing going. Like, really going," Stiles said and she raised a brow at him.
"Who?" Allison asked.
Stiles smirked and pulled out his phone.
Not even half an hour later Ev stood on the opposite side of the pool as the party did indeed get going. Ev couldn't help but smile as she watched drag queens and lacrosse players and everyone in between dance around with cups in their hands, enjoying the party.
"Are these the drag queens from that gay club?" she asked Stiles.
"Yup," he replied with a smile, "And I told you they know how to partay."
She smirked and shook her head as she looked from Allison, alone on the other side of the pool, to Scott, "What's up with you and your girl wolf boy?"
"He needs to apologize to her," Stiles answered for him.
"Why should I apologize?" Scott asked with a shrug.
"Because you're the guy. It's, like, what we do," Stiles said.
"For once he is very, very right," Ev agreed, taking a sip of her punch that was surprisingly good.
"But I didn't do anything wrong," he argued.
"If you don't think you did anything wrong then you definitely did something really wrong and if you want to keep that amazing girl over there I suggest you go find a wildflower, pick it, get down on one knee and grovel like your life depends on it."
"Is that what you want Derek to do?" Scott asked and she glanced at him.
"I'm gonna write that off as the full moon talking and no. Derek grovels for no one."
"Maybe that's the problem," Stiles said and she looked away, finishing the last of her punch. She felt a hand on her shoulder and she turned to see a familiar face.
"Hey green eyes."
She stared at him for a few moments with a frown and then realization crossed her features, "Straight bar tender from the gay club."
"Ding ding. Give the lady a cigar," he said, running his hand through his perfectly messy blonde hair, "You never called me."
"I never learned your name," she countered.
He stuck out his hand to her, "Holden."
She reluctantly took it, "Ev."
He flipped her hand over and brought it to his soft lips where he left a kiss on her knuckles, " Unique name for a uniquely beautiful girl."
She smiled despite her swarming thoughts, "Aren't you charming?"
He winked at her, "Wait until the end of the night. You'll love me."
She blushed and tucked her hair behind her ear. She only did that when she was flirting. She wasn't flirting. She didn't flirt anymore.
"You busy?" he asked with a smirk.
"Actually I'm-"
"Recently single," Stiles said, coming up behind her and putting his hands on her shoulders as he pushed her closer to Holden, "As you can see really hot, nice, funny, smart. Long walks on the beach and all that jazz. Awesome chick. You should sweep her off her feet. Now! Like right now."
"Ignore him," Ev said with an eye roll and shooting Stiles a death glare.
"Actually I like this kid's style," Holden said and patted Stiles on the shoulder, "Sweeping beautiful girl off feet now."
Before she had a chance to protest he bent down and put one arm beneath her knees and the other behind her back as he carried her bridal style. To prevent herself from falling she wrapped her arms around his neck.
"I don't think he meant literally," she said, unable to contain her laugh as he carried her off.
"Have fun you crazy kids," Stiles called after them and she shot him the finger as Holden disappeared in the crowd with her.
"She's gonna kill you when she gets back," Scott said between his laughter.
"Or she's gonna thank me for setting her up with her future husband and tell her kids about how Uncle Stiles ensured their birth. As long as it's not Derek's kids."
"You really hate them together."
"Don't you?" Stiles asked.
He shrugged, "He makes her happy. She makes him a better person."
"He beat the shit out of you a couple of weeks ago."
"It's an ongoing process," Scott said with a sigh, "All I'm saying if she's happy with him and miserable without him who are we to judge if he's right for her not."
"She look miserable to you?" Stiles asked, pointing off to a group of people dancing and in the middle was Ev with Holden and they watched as he spun her and then dipped her back. She laughed, throwing her head back with a grin as she shook her head at his antics.
"Guess not," Scott said with a small smile.
TEEN WOLF
Holden turned back to Ev, a glass of punch in his hand as he handed one to her and she drank it. He'd had her on the dance floor for so long and she was thirsty as hell.
"Slow down there gorgeous," he said as she finished the drink and threw the cup aside. She grabbed his hand and pulled him close, "I don't want to slow down."
He smirked and she pulled him back onto the dance floor. They were so close she could feel him everywhere and she loved it.
"Well damn if I never believed in love at first sight," he whispered and suddenly his face changed. His blonde hair became black. His clean shaven face was now riddled with a five o clock shadow. His blue eyes became green.
"You are so beautiful," he whispered, his lips brushing hers.
"Kiss me," she whispered to him and he did, pulling her close and when he pulled away he was Holden again. She frowned in confusion.
"Derek?" she questioned and pulled away from ready to cry.
"Ev?" Holden asked, his face changing so rapidly it was hard to look at him, "Ev you don't look so good."
"Just…just give me a second," she said, running into the house and shoving through the crowd until she found a bathroom. She flung herself inside and collapsed against the wall, "What's happening to me?"
Someone suddenly stood in front of her and she looked up to see Derek towering over her with a smirk. He dropped down in front of her as she stared at him, her breath coming out in short gasp.
"Holden seems nice," he said with a sneer.
"He is," she replied with a clenched jaw, "He's nice and he's normal and he's funny and he likes to dance and you-"
"I am none of those things," he said with a smirk, "And I never will be."
"You're so bad for me," she whispered as he leaned in close.
"But you don't care," he said with a grin as he began running his hand up her thigh, "You can't help yourself. You say you want a normal life. A house, a job, a family but at the end of the day you come right back to me. Every. Single. Time."
"No," she mumbled as his hands seemed to caress her entire body, " No. I want those things."
"Why do you think that is Ev?" Derek asked with a smile as his lips trailed her neck, "Why do you think despite being the good little girl you are in this innocent dress you come right back to the bad boy werewolf. You could have any man you wanted and he'd give you that normal life you say you want but you keep coming right back to me. Why is it Ev?"
"I don't know, I-I-" she stuttered, her vision hazy but Derek tended to have that effect on her.
"It's because as much as you like to walk around playing good girl and saying you want to be that way for the rest of your life you like it."
She shoved him away and stood up. He was so close she needed air but he was having none of it. He grabbed her wrist and pinned her against the wall.
"You like that I'm dangerous. You like that I'm different. You like that I'm not just any guy. All of it…it turns you on and you can't get enough."
"No," she protested as she stared into his eyes.
"Yes," he growled, "You look like you need a man to make love to you but all you want is for me to fuck you so hard you're screaming for mercy. I know it. You know it so stop fooling yourself. You're addicted to me."
"Derek stop," she whimpered.
He chuckled and his eyes turned red, " Bet this turns you on right now doesn't it?"
"Go away."
"All I have to do is ask nicely and you spread those little legs for me every time."
"Stop."
"Sweet, pure, innocent little red riding hood couldn't keep her panties on for the big bad wolf," he said with a maniacal laugh and she let out a cry of frustration.
He shushed her gently by pressing his lips to hers and when she opened her eyes he was gone.
She slid back down the wall into a heap as the bathroom door opened.
"Oh my god, Ev."
Scott and Stiles crouched down in front of her and she looked at them, "I can't let him go. Why can't I let him go?"
"Ev," Scott said gently, "I'm not sure what's going on but you have to sober up."
"I'm but he's got a hold on me and I don't want him to let go. I don't want to let him go. I love him. I love Derek."
"Okay yeah we need to fix this," Stiles said, "Please don't hate me."
With that he threw a cup of water in her face. She gasped and wiped it away frantically, "What the fuck?"
"She's back," Stiles said as she stood up, grabbing a towel and drying her face, "Sorry but you were talking nonsense."
"What?" she asked in confusion, looking around, "Why am I in the bathroom? Where's Holden? I was just dancing with him."
"Holden's tripping out somewhere around here with his shirt off," Stiles said and she frowned at him, " The punch. Whatever the hell's in it is causing some serious mind fucks around this place."
She looked between them as her encounter with the aggressive Derek came back and made sense, "Mind fuck is a light way to put it."
"We have to find Lydia," Scott said as they ran out of the bathroom. Everyone was either out of it or out of their mind as they made their way back outside. She did actually see Holden twirling with his shirt off and she made a mental note to apologize profusely if she ever saw him again.
"We can't find Lydia anywhere," Stiles said as they looked around the out of control party, "Anyone who drank that crap, they're freaking out."
"I can see that," Ev said as Holden twirled past her.
"What the hell do we do?" Scott asked.
"Find a way for an entire party to sober up," Ev said just as she saw Matt being knocked into the pool. He thrashed around frantically.
"I can't swim! I can't swim! Help! Help me!" he yelled and she stripped off her jacket and abandoned her shoes as she ran to the pool and dove in after Matt. She swam to him and pulled him to the side of the pool as he climbed out, water dripping from him.
She climbed out after him, short of breath as water clung to her body, "Are you okay?"
She put her hand on his shoulder and he shoved her away, "Don't touch me!"
His outburst caused looks and yelled, "What are all of you looking at?"
She stared at him for a long time as she met his eyes and a cold settled over her…he couldn't swim. With a huff of rage, he pushed past her and she stood there in stunned silence. Scott and Stiles ran over to her. Stiles held her belongings as Scott stripped off his jacket to put around her.
"Ev!" Scott said, trying to get her attention, "Are you okay?"
She looked between them, "He couldn't swim."
Sirens sounded in the distance, "The cops are here. Party's over!"
Everyone scrambled and Ev took off in the direction Matt had gone. The boys followed after her and they found her staring off at nothing.
"Ev what are you…" Stiles began but he trailed off when he saw what she was looking at.
Matt was standing off in the parking lot with pure hate in his eyes and the Kanima, Jackson, was at his feet. A few people ran past blocking their vision and he was gone.
"He couldn't swim," Ev repeated in shock.
