He wChapter 10
"I love it, Ev!" Mary Ann squealed on the other line as Ev locked up the vet's office after hours, "It's gorgeous and right near my campus. Oh my God I love it. I love it! I'm in love with it!"
Ev laughed as she began walking towards her car," I'm glad you liked it because I scheduled a consultation and if I like what I see in person than I'm putting down the first fee."
Mary Ann squealed again, "I'm so excited! I miss you and I need my girl back."
"I miss you…" she began but as she rounded the corner to the parking lot she saw Gerard leaning against her SUV, the Kanima crouched on the hood, "too."
"You okay?"
"Uh, yeah. Yeah, I'm fine," she lied, "Can I call you back?"
"'Course babe. See you soon," she said, "Bye."
"Bye," she replied and lowered the phone from her ear as she continued her stare down with Gerard.
"Evangeline," Gerard called to her, "We've missed our fearless leader. Although I have to say Allison makes much more…bloodthirsty decisions."
"Ones implanted by you no doubt," she called back, "Now tell your pet to get off my car."
He chuckled, "I think your paint job is the least of your worries, Evangeline."
"Why?" she asked, determined not to show fear, "You hear to kill me?"
"Of course not," he said, feigning offense, "Your father has already lost his wife. I would not dream of taking away his daughter as well. I know that pain."
"Is that what this is about?" she asked, walking towards him, "Kate? You caused all this just to avenge your psychotic, bitch of a daughter. She burned down Derek's house. She killed his entire family. Humans were in that house. Kids were burned to death!"
Jackson leapt from her car and wrapped his tail around her neck, "She was my daughter!"
"That's not what this is about," she rasped, "I know it's not."
He chuckled, "My Dear Evangeline. You'd be surprised how little you actually know."
"What do you want?" she asked as the tips of her shoes began to brush the ground.
"I want revenge and I'm informing you that when the time is right you best step aside and let me take it."
Jackson dropped her and she fell to her knees, gasping for air as he began walking away.
"You better kill me now," she yelled between breaths with her back to him, "because in the end I will be in your way."
"Than I'll simply toss you aside, my dear," he said and crouched down next to her so his words were right in his ear, "And I'll make sure you witness as I take the life of Derek Hale."
With that he stood up and walked away, leaving her to catch her breath in the night.
TEEN WOLF
"Dad," she called into her house as she opened the door, "I'm home."
"In the kitchen," he called back and she dropped her belongings on the couch and shed her coat.
As she walked towards the kitchen the smell of burning substances hit her and she ran into the kitchen to see her father near the stove with several pots on it at once, all of them burning.
"I tried to cook us a nice meal," he said with a sheepish smile, "I thought since you're moving out soon we could spend some time together."
She looked at him as her heart warmed from his gesture, "Okay but from the smell of things why don't we do that over some take out."
He chuckled, "I was hoping you'd say that. I'm not even sure if any of this is edible."
She looked to the stove, "What were you even trying to cook?"
"Well, when you were little I remembered you really liked your mother's Italian casserole," he began and gestured to the stove, "I tried to make it from memory but uh…"
He trailed off as she began turning off the burners, "Thank you for trying, Daddy."
"I just feel like it's been so long since we had time outside of work or your other…extracurricular."
She sighed and turned back to him, "Part of that's my fault."
"And part of it is mine," he confessed, "I feel as if since you learned of my knowledge of the supernatural you lost some trust for me."
"No, Dad, no," she assured him, "It was nothing like that. I got caught up in this and…I understand why you didn't tell me but now that I know I can't just sit aside."
"I know, sweetheart," he said with a smile and pulled her into his arms, "You are so much like your mother."
"Is that a good thing?" she whispered.
"A very, very good thing," he said and then added as she pulled away, "Most of the time. From time to time even your mother admitted to being a stubborn bitch."
Her mouth dropped open in shock before she began laughing hysterically along with her father.
"I missed this," he said when they finally stopped, "I miss you."
"I missed you too Dad."
TEEN WOLF
The poor dog was getting worse and worse as the days wore on. Ev held him in her arms as she gave him a shot of numbing agent. He was in a lot of pain. She set him on the metal table just as Scott came back from cleaning out the cages.
"I forgot how good with animals you were," he said and she gave him a smile.
"I guess that explain Derek," she mumbled and Scott snorted a laugh as she tried not to laugh at her own joke, "I'm sorry that was really bad."
"No, no it was funny," he assured her with a smile, "I forgot how funny you could be too."
"I forgot too," she said, stroking the dog's fur.
"You know at first I kind of hated Derek for trying to get you back," he began and she looked at him with wide eyes, "I couldn't understand why he couldn't just let you go. For your own good, you know? And then I realized he probably couldn't even if he wanted to. You're just so kind and caring and everyone you meet just latches onto you and you have this big heart. Once you love someone, it's impossible to imagine your life without it so I can't really blame Derek for needing you."
She didn't realize she'd been crying until Scott said, "Did I say something wrong? I'm sorry. I'm so sorry. Please don't cry."
She pulled him into a tight hug, "No you idiot. You just made me so happy."
He laughed in relief, "Oh thank God."
She laughed and released him, "Thank you Scotty."
"Scotty," he repeated, "You haven't called me that in years. I used to climb up on things and you'd say that rhyme to get me down. What was it?"
"Uh…oh it was Little Scotty McCall if you don't get down from there you'll fall or I'm gonna give Santa a call."
"Worked every time," he said with a grin.
"You were such a good kid."
"Well you were one hell of a baby sitter," he replied, " although you really haven't stopped babysitting us, have you?"
She shook her head, "And I never will, Scotty McCall."
She wiped away the last of her tears just as the door chime rang.
"Scott, Evangeline," her father called, "We have company."
She exchanged a worried look with Scott and walked to the front to see Isaac at the entrance.
"Isaac," she said in relief, going to him and throwing her arms around his neck, "You're okay."
"Yeah, yeah I am," he said and looked from her to Scott, " I, uh, need help."
She glanced at Scott who gave her a slight nod, "Come one back for a second."
She turned and led him to the examination room along with her father and Scott. The dog was still on the metal table and she scratched his fur as he whined.
They stood around him.
"Why does it smell like that?" Isaac asked and the two vets and Scott exchanged a knowing look," What?"
"Scott said almost the same thing to me a few months ago. One day he could somehow tell the difference between which animals were getting better…" he trailed off as Ev gave Isaac a sad look," and which were not."
"He's not getting better, is he?" Isaac asked and Ev shook her head," Like cancer."
"Osteosarcoma. This poor guy's in a lot of pain," Ev explained and she looked from the dog to Isaac, "Being a werewolf does a lot for you. Strength, speed, healing…but it can do things for others too."
"Like what?" Isaac asked.
She held her hand out to him and slowly she put his hand onto the dog. She watched as he took some of his pain away and Isaac looked absolutely enraptured as he did it, "What did I do?"
"You took some of his pain away," Scott said as Isaac cradled his hand.
"Only a little bit. But sometimes a little can make quite a difference," her father said with a small smile.
"It's okay. First time he showed me, I cried too," Scott said and Ev put a gentle hand to Isaac's shoulder.
"It's not all bad," she assured him with a small smile, "and you must have come to us because you knew that."
"I need help," he admitted, looking between her and Scott, "They're leaving tonight."
"Erica and Boyd?" Ev asked, searching his eyes, "They're leaving Derek?"
He nodded.
"He's alone?" she asked and he nodded again.
"Evangeline," her father called and she looked to him, "Go to Derek."
She looked to Isaac, "Whatever you need help with…Scott can help you. Trust him."
TEEN WOLF
He'd failed. Everything he'd set out to do he'd failed at. His pack was running. Gerard was winning. Ev had left him and now he had nothing. He was right back where he started. He may have been an alpha but he was still a lone wolf.
The front door opened and closed and he smelled her scent before he saw her. Her footsteps got closer and closer as she approached him.
"If you're here to say I told you so-"
"I'm here to see if you're alright," she said, "Isaac came by the office and told me about Erica and Boyd…I'm so sorry."
"Just two more of my failures," he said brokenly, "I can add them to the list under your name."
"We didn't …I'm right here, Derek," she whispered as her footsteps got closer and closer, "I'm not going anywhere. That's what matters."
"But for how long?" he asked with a dark chuckle, "How long before you finally see how bad I am for you?"
"I already see it, Derek," she said, putting her hand on his shoulder.
"Is that why you broke up with me?"
"I saw it long before that," she said, dropping her hand as he still refused to turn to her, "I broke up with you because I couldn't handle watching you do all these horrible things and use protecting me as an excuse."
"You're a hunter, Ev," he said with a sigh, "I had to protect you no matter what."
"I know what I'm trying to accomplish as a hunter, Derek. Can you honestly say you do as an alpha?"
"I'm trying to keep you safe and you're off doing everything in your power to make that difficult."
"I'm off protecting you and others," she countered.
"There is no other for me, Ev," he said as his eyes glowed red as he spun around, grabbed her and turned her so she was trapped between the table and him," You are my one and only. You are my everything. Everything I do, every breath I take, every moment I'm not sleeping I spend making sure you're safe and I don't care how I have to do it or if you don't like it."
"Well that's the thing Derek I don't like it," she yelled, pushing him away," and the fact that you don't care makes it so much worse! I love you, you idiot but I can't be with someone who is so desperate to protect me they're blind to all their actions."
"I'm not blind to my actions, Ev," he said with a shake of his head, "I know I go too far. I know I do wrong things. I know when I'm doing something bad and at the end of the day, to put it lightly, I don't give a fuck as long as you're safe."
"So you can admit what you do is wrong but you can't apologize for it or change your ways," she said with a scoff.
"You want me to change? Fine," he yelled in frustration," You want me to apologize? Fine!"
He grabbed her hands and dropped down to his knees in front of her, "Derek, this is ridiculous. Get up."
"I am sorry I love you so much it hurts not to have you by my side. I am sorry you are my all and I'm sorry I can't turn it off."
"Derek seriously get up," she said, looking everywhere but at him.
"I am sorry I can't make myself not want to protect you. I am sorry that I would kill for you. I am sorry I would walk through hell for you, slaughter someone if you asked me to, and not regret it."
"Derek," she yelled, looking him in the eye, "Do you hear yourself? You sound insane! We are insane!"
"I don't care!" he yelled back," I am sorry that just the thought of another man thinking he can have you makes me want to rip him to shreds. I am sorry that you control me. I am sorry I can't say no to you. I am sorry that you have a leash on me and I don't want you to let go. I am sorry that you own me because you do Ev. You own me. You understand me? Your name might as well be tattooed on my ass because I am completely and utterly whipped over you and I don't want it to stop. So there it is, Ev. I'm fucking sorry! Now would you please get your stubborn little ass back to me."
He finally let go of her hands and she stood there in shock. He stood up and she kept her eyes on him before punching him with all she had.
"What the hell was that-" before he could finish she grabbed his face and kissed him probably as hard as she'd just hit him.
"Why did you…" he began as they parted for air and then stopped once their lips reconnected, "hit me?"
She pulled away from him with a frown as she caught her breath, "I'm not really sure. It felt right."
"You are insane," he said and picked her up, wrapping her legs around his waist, "And I love you for it."
"I love you too, you psychopath," she said, attacking his neck as he held her up and cleared the table behind her to set her down.
"What the hell's gotten into you?" he asked as she used her legs to pull him close.
She pulled away, panting for air as she held his collar, looked him in the eye and said, "We just got back together, I've discovered groveling turns me on, haven't had you inside me in weeks, I love you, and apparently once you go Derek Hale there's no going back. I am a bomb waiting to explode right now so please shut up, do me a colossal favor, and fuck me."
"Don't have to tell me twice," he said with a grin and lifted up her dress as they started to fall back onto the table.
He grinded his hips into hers and she groaned loudly, tangling her hands in his hair as she kissed him, their tongues fighting for dominance and for once she was winning.
Suddenly, her phone began to ring.
"Ignore it," Derek ordered, kissing down her neck as she searched her jacket pocket for her phone, "Damn it, Ev. You can't just tell me to fuck you and then answer a phone call."
"I'm sorry," she said regretfully, finally grabbing onto the device and answering, "Hello?"
"Ev," Scott said on the other line as Derek continued to tease her in hopes she'd hang up.
"Scott," she said with great difficulty, "This is not a good time. Is this important?"
"Jackson's going to be at the game tonight," he said and she pushed Derek away with an apologetic look.
"What? I thought he wasn't allowed to play. I thought you weren't playing."
"I was wrong and now I have to go and if Jackson's there than that means Gerard will be too."
"Shit," she mumbled, "Alright, I'll be there tonight."
"Ev, be careful," he said.
"You too," she replied before hanging up.
"Do not tell me you have to go," he said with a groan, "The game's tonight. We can go then."
"We," she repeated.
"Yes, we," he said, "I'm not letting you be near Gerard alone."
She smiled and gave him a quick kiss as she hopped off the table, "I'm sorry."
"Ev," he whined.
"I am so…so…so…sorry," she said, with each word giving him a kiss, "I promise I will make this up to you."
"Yeah, well, we have a lot of making up to do," he said and pulled her close, kissing her one last time just because he could.
"Yes, we do," she said and staring to walk off, "I love you. I'm sorry. I will make it up to you."
"Go," he said, finally releasing her hand and she ran off. He turned back to the table, unable to keep the smile off his face before he heard another pair of footsteps once Ev was long gone. At first he thought it was her but when he wrapped his hand around the mirror shard and turned to throw it at his resurrected Uncle he had no doubts.
Peter caught it easily and said, "I expected a slightly warmer welcome. But point taken. It's quite a situation you've got yourself in here, Derek. I mean, I'm out of commission for a few weeks and suddenly there's lizard people, geriatric psychopaths, and you're cooking up werewolves out of every self–esteem–deprived adolescent in town. Not to mention wrapped around the finger of some beautiful yet quite frankly short and temperamental girl."
"What do you want?" Derek asked, crossing his arms.
"Well, I want to help. You're my nephew. The only relative that I have left. You know, there's still a lot that I can teach you. Can we just talk?"
"Sure," Derek said with a smirk," Let's talk."
He took a great satisfaction when his body splintered the wood of the stairs beneath the force of Peter's body.
TEEN WOLF
Ev made her way towards the locker room, her shoes clicking on the floor as it got louder and louder the closer she got.
"Ev."
She turned to see Melissa McCall was the one who had called her name. She gave her a small smile as Melissa embraced her in a hug.
"How are you?" she asked, "I didn't get a chance to talk to you after…"
"Matt," she finished in a small voice, "Melissa I'm fine but how are you…coping?"
The older woman gave her a forced smile, "I just found out my son is a…he's different and there's a killer lizard thing after him and I'm, uh, I'm doing alright."
"Melissa, Scott is still Scott."
"How do you know about all this?" Melissa asked and Ev gave a nervous chuckle.
"I, uh, my boyfriend is a werewolf," she confessed and Melissa gave her a confused look, "Derek. Derek Hale."
Her eyes widened, "Wait, didn't he try to kill you in the school? You were terrified."
"You have so much to catch up on," she replied with a sheepish smile, "but until then why don't we go see Scott?"
She nodded in agreement as they made their way to the front of the crowd of lacrosse boys to see Stiles as the coach stood at the center.
"Good morning. In less than an hour, aircraft from here will be joining others from around the world. And you will be launching the largest aerial battle in the history of mankind," the coach began.
Ev shared a confused look with Melissa.
"Mankind–that word should have new meaning for all of us today," he continued passionately.
"Stiles what is he…" Ev trailed off not sure what to ask.
"He does this every year," Stiles said with a sigh.
"Seriously?" Melissa quipped.
"Yeah."
"We are fighting for our right to live!"
"Yeah!" the players cheered.
"He's quoting Independence Day," Ev said in disbelief.
"Yup," Stiles replied, "It's his favorite movie."
"But as the day the world declared in one voice we will not go quietly into the night!"
"He doesn't know any sports speeches?" Melissa asked.
"I don't think he cares."
"Today we celebrate our Independence Day!" he roared with his fist in the air and the players cheered.
"This is not happening," Ev mumbled under her breath just as Gerard appeared out of nowhere and put his hand on the coaches shoulder. She narrowed her eyes and her body went rigid as she stared at him in pure hatred.
"Well spoken, coach. I might have chosen something with a little more historical value, but there's no denying your passion. And while I haven't been here long, there's no denying my pride in having a winning team for this school. I know you'll all be brilliant tonight, even with only one co–captain leading you," he paused, seemingly to catch a breath but Ev knew what it meant. He had made sure Scott couldn't play tonight," Now, I'm your principal, but I'm also a fan. So don't think I'll be content to watch you merely beat this team. Get out there and murder them."
His last words sent a chill through her body as he came towards her and she held her head high as the players flooded out. She gave Stiles a nod to leave and she noticed Melissa's terrified gaze.
"Melissa go," she whispered.
"I'm not leaving you alone with this monster."
"Hello, Evangeline," he said with a smile that didn't reach his eyes, but then again they never did, "Melissa."
"Don't have your pet to protect you this time, Gerard," she replied icily, "I suggest you back down because right now I am not above hurting an old man."
Gerard chuckled, "I have no doubt of this. I just came to say I hope you enjoy the game."
"Leave them alone, Gerard," she replied, ignoring his veiled threat.
"Leave who alone, my dear?" he asked innocently.
"Everyone," she growled, stepping up to him, face to face, "Stop messing with Scott. Leave Derek and his pack alone. Do not ever come near Melissa again. Let. Jackson. Go."
"Or what?" he asked with an amused chuckle, "What will you do? Kill me? I know you've never done it before but I have and I quite enjoy it."
"Oh you won't die, Gerard," she said with a frightening gleam in her eye, "but you will suffer so much you will wish you were dead. I know what you're up to. I know everything and you will be stopped."
He laughed, a full bodied laugh as he threw his head back. Melissa gripped her arm tight and tried to pull her back from him but Ev stood her ground, staring him down.
"I'm glad you think this is funny," she said with a smile of her own, "but when this is over and you're the loser…I'll be there and you can bet your ass I'll be laughing."
She turned her back and grabbed Melissa practically pulling her out the door.
"This game will be a real nail biter ladies!" Gerard called after them, still laughing like a maniac.
TEEN WOLF
"He's insane," Melissa whispered as they made their way towards the stands.
"He's going down," Ev said, determination in her voice, "He doesn't know it yet but he is, Melissa."
"I hope you're right," she said, her arms wrapped around herself.
They made their way up to the bleachers where Stiles' Dad was waving to them. Melissa took a seat next to him and Ev next to her.
"How are you two?" he asked, obviously referring to the other night.
"Good, thank you," Melissa said with a small smile at the sheriff.
"I'm good," Ev said as well and looked between the two with a smirk. There was always a part of her that hoped in the face of both their tragedies they would find each other. In other words, she shipped it. She was just still waiting.
The game began and Ev frowned as Stiles stumbled up from the bench and began sprinting onto the field.
"Oh, no. Why is my son running out to the field?" the sheriff asked with a look of dread.
"Because he's on the team?" Melissa answered simply.
"He doesn't really play," Ev explained and then her eyes widened, "Oh my God they're letting him play. Stiles is playing!"
"He's on the field," his father said and then stood up and yelled with pride," My son is on the field!"
"Go Stiles!" Ev shrieked, ignoring the looks she got as she stood up with him and high fived the sheriff.
She could see his look of embarrassment all the way from the stands as she continued to cheer him on with no shame and as much pride as his father.
"Stiles is playing?"
She looked to her side to see Lydia, a wide eyed look on her face, "Yeah, he is. Want to join me?"
"I'd like that," she said with a smile and took a seat next to Ev.
Scott glanced at Ev from the player's bench and she met his eyes with an encouraging smile and mouthed, "It's gonna be okay."
He nodded back at her but he wasn't so sure.
"Scott, can you hear me?" his entire body tensed as he heard Gerard's voice," Ah, you can. Good. Then listen closely because the game is about to get interesting."
"Let's put a real clock on this game, Scott. I'll give you until the last 30 seconds. When that scoreboard clock begins counting down from 30, if you haven't given me Derek, then Jackson is gonna kill someone. So tell me, Scott, who's gonna die tonight? Should it be your mother, who so bravely came out to support you? Or the sheriff, your best friend's father? Or how about the pretty little redhead who managed to survive the bite of an Alpha? Or maybe one of these innocent teenagers with their whole life ahead of them? Or Evangeline who so selflessly goes against her entire peaceful being to ensure the safety of those she loves?" Scott looked to her to see her cheering on Stiles next to Lydia. If she died he would never forgive himself, "Or should I do everyone a favor and kill that ridiculous coach? It's up to you, Scott. But you are going to help me take Derek down. Because if you don't– I'll have Jackson rip someone's head off right in the middle of the field and drench everyone you love and care about in blood."
He was sure if he didn't have so much gear on he would be shaking but he couldn't be afraid. Someone was in danger and he wasn't sure he could stop it.
Ev watched as Stiles tripped over his own two feet on the field.
"He's probably just warming up," Melissa offered.
He finally caught a ball and instead of running he stood staring at it in disbelief. A rival player tackled him to the ground.
"Oh Stiles," Ev said with a grimace.
"Oh, he's just a little nervous. Plenty of time to turn it around," Lydia said.
"I'm sure that's it," Ev nodded in agreement as the sheriff buried his head in his hands.
Ev looked over to Scott and did a double take when she saw Isaac sitting next to him.
"I'll be right back," she said to Lydia and Melissa and made her way over to the bench.
Scott stood up, "You should go."
"What? No," she said with a frown, "Why are you telling me this?"
"Because Gerard just threatened to make Jackson kill someone at the end of the game if I don't give him Derek and you are on that list," he replied and she looked to Gerard in the stand who winked at her.
"Well then let him try," she replied, her eyes still on him and then looked to Isaac, "We need to get Scott in the game."
"And how do we do that?" Scott asked frantically, "He's got a bench full of guys he can use before he ever puts me on the field."
She smirked and turned to Isaac, "How many of these guys can you put off the field without sending them to the hospital?"
"All of them," he replied and his eyes glowed.
"Than do it," she said with a nod just as the coach put him in.
She watched next to Scott as Isaac knocked one of their own players to the ground and there was no doubt the kid wasn't going in anytime soon.
Isaac took down player after player until finally it was only Scott left.
"He has to put you in now," she said just as Jackson body slammed Isaac to the ground, his leg bending at an unnatural angle, "Oh no."
"Gerard did that on purpose," Stiles muttered as EMT's carried Isaac off the field and they ran to him.
"It's not broken. But I can't move it," he said as Ev looked to his limp leg, "I think Jackson nicked me 'cause I can feel it spreading."
Ev shared a worried look with Scott, "What now?"
"I have to go on the field."
"You have to go back to the stands," Isaac said and she shook her head, "No. You need to keep close to them. You can protect them. I'll be fine."
"Are you sure?" she asked, searching his eyes.
"Positive," he replied and she squeezed his hand before running off and checking her phone. Derek was supposed to be here. Where the hell was he?
TEEN WOLF
Ev watched in anticipation beside Lydia at the few minutes left at the game. She was hoping they'd win when the clock ran out. Ev was hoping everyone would still be alive. Scott had disappeared after Isaac had been carted away and she couldn't get a hold of him. Panic was surging through her as she searched the stands for Gerard but he was nowhere to be found either. Something was about to happen.
"Oh my God Stiles has the ball," Lydia said, grabbing Ev's arm to get her attention and pointing to the field.
Ev looked to where Lydia was pointing and saw Stiles looking at his net and then the other team began running after him. Stiles sprinted away towards the goal.
"Stiles shoot it!" Ev yelled, jumping up in the stands, "Shoot the ball!"
"Shoot it!" Lydia yelled, standing next to her.
He must have gotten the message because he went for it and EV stared in amazement as Stiles made the shot. She let out a scream of cheer and jumped up and down with Lydia and the sheriff. No matter what was going on or what was about to happen she had to enjoy this. She had to cheer on Stiles.
The clock was ticking and the last goal seemed to have given Stiles the confidence he needed because he made goal after goal. Her excitement for him was short lived because the clock began tick down to the final minute.
"We only need one more goal to win," Lydia said as Ev looked around frantically for Scott or Gerard or Derek.
The clock came down to its final seconds and Stiles made the goal, winning the game. Her heart stopped as everything around her seemed to freeze. She met eyes with Scott who was at the bottom of the bleachers with his mother just as the lights all went out.
"What's happening?" she heard Lydia ask next to her.
"What's going on?" the sheriff said and she grabbed onto both of them holding them by their arms as people around them panicked and ran.
The lights came back on and she looked from the sheriff to Lydia to see them both unharmed. She spotted Scott with his mother and sighed in relief. Nothing had happened.
She thought it too soon because she heard a scream and looked to the field to see people crowding around a body. She took off sprinting and shoved her way through each and every person until she was at the front of the crowd, looking down at Jackson. She saw Scott, Isaac, Lydia, and Melissa push their way to the front of the crowd as well.
"Medic! We need a medic!" Coach yelled and Melissa dropped down to him.
"He's not breathing. No pulse," she said, going into action and Ev dropped down with her, "Ev, hold his head. Tilt it up."
She did as she was told and looked to see what had happened and whispered, "He did this to himself."
Suddenly, the sheriff's voice was louder than all the others, "Stiles. Where's Stiles? Where– where's my son?"
Ev met eyes with Scott as it dawned on them. Stiles was gone.
