"You have five minutes Theodore Mosby" she began and even set up a timer on her phone.
"Five minutes isn't a lot…."
"Then I suggest you make those precious minutes count" she replied cutting him off icily.
"Robin…"
"No Ted, you have five minutes to explain to me why I should forgive you and remain your friend" she said and started her timer.
He was silent for the first three minutes. "Halfway done Ted and you haven't spoken one word. When this thing beeps I will walk out and I don't know if I'll ever speak to you again" she said.
"I'm sorry Robin"
"That's not an explanation and you have one minute left" she said icily and a tear falls from his eye.
"I love you…that's the only explanation I can give" he said and she raises a brow at him.
"You love me?" she asks skeptically and gets the tiniest nod.
"It makes sense Robin. I do the stupidest things when I'm in love. I steal a horn and make it rain on a roof. But here's the crazy part, I only ever did that for you" he said.
The watch beeped and she turned it off. "Please don't leave me Robin, least not for good" he begs.
"You'd miss me that much huh?" she asks and he nods.
"Yeah" he admits. "You're the only ex I ever became best friends with after the break up. You're the only one I can see everyday and have no awkward tension with" he said.
She folds her arms but doesn't speak for a moment. "Please Robin, I am sorry for everything. You were absolutely right, I do regret not comforting you and that Barney got to. But that's just petty jealousy and it's not the reason I was so cruel to him. I just really was upset that he was just going to keep this secret from me, I felt like our friendship was just a joke so I ended it" he rambled quickly.
He then took a deep breath. "I was wrong though and I really am sorry for everything I said to you here. I really don't blame you and I kinda don't blame him either" he says.
"If I forgive you will you please forgive him?" she asks and gets a nod.
"You should try dating him Robin, see if you two want to be together in the future" he says and she is taken aback. He laughs lightly at her expression.
"I'm serious Robin, if you want to date him or whatever you should be able to" he says.
"Not even because of the bro code?" she asks.
"Eh, its already been broken and some rules are meant to be broken I believe" he responds.
"But you said you love me" she points out.
"I'll always love you" he says.
"Ted…."
"I learned quickly how to love you like a boyfriend Robin and now I realize I can love you like a sister as well" he says.
"Wanting to have it with your sister is a little creepy Ted"
He lets out a small chuckle. "I don't want that anymore Robin. I really do still love you and I swear from this day forward I will try to be the one to make you smile but I really can live with us just being friends" he says.
She studies him a moment and sees there is sincerity in his face. But there is also a hint of deceit and it hurts her to see that. For she does love him too but she can't let them go down that road again. She's not to be the mother of his children, that's for another woman.
"Okay, I forgive you Ted" she says finally and he smiles. She gets up and gives him a small kiss on his forehead. "I was hoping you'd pass this test to be honest, I'd miss you too much as well Captain sourpuss" she says.
"Captain sourpuss" they both say together but only she salutes. He smiles though knowing they'd be just fine. She was right after all, its better to bury the hatchet then to stay angry forever.
"Can you find him? I am still confined to this bed or else I would" he asks and she nods.
"Sure, I'll bring Marshall so he can drag him back if he protests" she said and ran off.
Ted hoped he could make it through without starting another feud.
