Chapter Seven

You Are Lucky

Ace was looking around he was standing in a forest that he had never been before. He walked up ahead seeing Jimbei was walking away. He ran forward to see his brother laying on the ground crying. Ace walked forward only to see his hand go through Luffy. "Luffy, come on I am right here. Luffy, look at me. Luffy, I am ok. Please brother look at me. I promise I will come back. It just taking some time. Please don't cry." The 11 year old Ace fell to his knees seeing he could do nothing for his little brother. As he watched his brother lean back his head and let out such a painful heart-wrenching scream. Ace sat there for the night watching his brother wishing he could hold his little crazy brother. Or let him know it be alright.

Ace was all a sudden not with his brother being jerked awake by Ron shaking him. He glared at the boy with dark shadows under his eyes. Looking as if he got no sleep the night before. Having been with the twins and only getting who knows how much sleep. Ron was talking very loudly about how happy he was that they only had the Slytherins in one class even though it was potions. Ace yawned not caring. He wished he wasn't woken. He couldn't shake off the feeling these dreams he started to have. He quickly changed for the day and started to walked down the stairs and saw Hermione at the notice board so he made his way over.

1st years Flying lessons will be starting on

Thursday

Gryffindor and Slytherin

Friday

Ravenclaw and Hufflepuff

"Typical," said Neville darkly. "Just what I always wanted. To make a fool of myself on a broomstick in front of Malfoy."

"You don't know that you'll make a fool of yourself," said Ron reasonably. "Anyway, I know Malfoy's always going on about how good he is at Quidditch, but I bet that's all talk."

Ace put his hand on Neville's shoulder, "It doesn't matter. All that matter is that you keep clam and listen to the teacher and you will do fine. There will be many people making a mess out of them self. Look I have never flown before on a broom and I will be in the same boat as you. And look Hermione and Dean never flown before either. You just have to experience flying and go from there. Books may help but this is a hands on type of learning."

Hermione looked to Ace when he said this. While reading a book about flying, "I think that reading should be able to help. Hear in the book it states that you need to-"

Ace glared at her stopping her and whispered to her. "Hermione, I am trying to calm Neville down. I understand you're trying to help but Hermione, you're making Neville stress."

Hermione looked at Neville and to see just how stressed he was. "I'm sorry Neville."

Ace looked to Neville "you said your Gran wouldn't want you to fly because you're clumsy."

Neville nodded "Yeah."

"Well on Saturday meet me at the lake. I will help you with that." He said smiling he didn't know why he wanted to help the boy. But he seemed shy and kind. And only been nice to him and would give him copies of his notes in Herbology and History. So he needed to help him out as well.

Ace took off towards the grand hall with the rest of the first years walking with him for breakfast. Walking into the grand hall he heard Malfoy the moment he walked in. He was boasting about his skills, to make others feel bad. He noticed other first years even in his own house looking nervous about the class. Malfoy even started to complained loudly about first years never getting on the house Quidditch teams.

At this Hermione groaned "It will be funny if some how someone else gets on a Quidditch team from a different house." She said while reading a book.

Ace sat down at the table and started to laugh as he listened to everyone from the Wizarding families give off crazy stories. Like Seamus Finnigan spending most of his childhood zooming around the countryside on his broomstick. He took the moment Ron started telling everyone who listens to him about a time he apparently almost hit a hang glider on Charlie's old broom. This had lasted all day in each class.

It seemed that any would talk about was Quidditch if they were from wizard family. And because of this he was able to avoid Ron as he got into a big argument with Dean Thomas, about soccer. Ron couldn't see what was exciting about a game with only one ball, and where no one was allowed to fly. Even though it was all about the athlete's ability and, not adding in a broom. Ace looked at both sports and could see the similarity.

Ace was grabbing a book out of his trunk when he noticed that Ron was again prodding Dean's poster of West Ham soccer team, trying to make the players move. While Dean was yelling at him to stop messing with his poster. Dean's Irish temper starting to get the better of him. As he was about to get in a fight with Ron. And Ron was about to learn a lesson about messing with other's things.

Ace slapped his head at how silly Ron was and left quickly joining Fred and George in the common room.

Fred looked to Ace "About time. Do you have it?"

Ace nodded and held up a book in his hand. It was a book on jinxes. He flipped it open to a bookmark showing the chapter about Delaying jinxes.

"George and Lee are already ready." Fred said as they made there way to the Slytherin common room.

Once he got there he noticed that Lee was bouncing on his heels. "You guys ready." He said smiling.

"Yep" They all said at once. The three older boys were happy that Ace had come to them with the Slytherin dorms location and password. "Pureblood Rules."

The twins started to snicker at the password. Lee rolled his eyes at the password.

They went inside once it was empty and started their spell work. While Ace and Lee were on look out. Ace was at the entrance and Lee keeping an eye on the dorms.

Fred walked over jinxing the tables to make any one working there talk backwards for three hours. George worked on the other sofas to make them lazy when they sat on it. Then the chairs near the fire place to make people want to dance. Fred walked over with Lee's help make the boys walking through the dorms to have pink robes two hours after breakfast. Then worked on the girls to give them Hufflepuff robes. Thing was only the other houses could see it. They only noticed their robes. Ace noticed Draco sneaking down the hallway. "Hey guys we need to leave some snakes are coming." Fred ran over and saw Draco and noticed he was very close.

"Bloody hell... Hmm." He smiled and mumbled a spell and a light hit Draco. Making his robes to start yanking him down a different hallway.

"We better,"

"Go" George finished.

Lee nodded and casted a spell with the rest. It was meant to make everything look like the other houses common rooms.

The boys headed off to their dorm rooms for the night looking forward to the next morning.

Hermione Granger was almost as nervous about flying as Neville was. This was something you couldn't learn by heart out of a book she been told and it scared her. She always been able to fall back on her books. Though she tired to use books at breakfast on Thursday she bored them all stupid with flying tips she'd gotten out of a library book called Quidditch Through the Ages.

Neville was hanging on to her every word, desperate for anything that might help him hang on to his broomstick later, but everybody else was very pleased when Hermione's lecture was interrupted by the arrival of the mail.

Ace hadn't had a single letter since Hagrid's note. Not that it bothered him but other students had taken noticed of it just like Malfoy. Malfoy's eagle owl was always bringing him packages of sweets from home, which he opened gloatingly at the Slytherin table. Ace just shook his head at the childish antics. He noticed it did get some other children down. Who didn't get that many of things.

A barn owl brought Neville a small package from his grandmother. He opened it excitedly and showed them a glass ball the size of a large marble, which seemed to be full of white smoke.

"It's a Remembrall!" he explained. "Gran knows I forget things — this tells you if there's something you've forgotten to do. Look, you hold it tight like this and if it turns red — oh…" His face fell, because the Remembrall had suddenly glowed scarlet, "… you've forgotten something…"

Neville was trying to remember what he'd forgotten when Draco Malfoy, who was passing the Gryffindor table, snatched the Remembrall out of his hand.

"HEY!"

Ace, Dean, and Ron jumped to their feet. With the twins walking behind him. Ace was hoping to beat the shit out of the brat. Small bits of flames where flickering off his hand. But Professor McGonagall, who spotted trouble faster than any other teacher in the school, was there in a blink of an eye.

"Good!"

"What's going on?"

"Malfoy's got my Remembrall, Professor."

Scowling, Malfoy quickly dropped the Remembrall back on the table. "Just looking," he said, and he sloped away with Crabbe and Goyle behind him.

Two hours later many of the students started to snicker if they had a class with any of the Snake students. Snape looked up and noticed his little male Snakes all had pink robes and it seemed none of them noticed it. But the Lions sure knew. He looked to the girls to see them wearing Hufflepuff robes. He groaned and looked to Ace who was the only one not laughing. He was working on his potion with Neville. He had noticed he was letting Neville handle prepping the potion but was the one taking care of the potion.

Looking into all of the other Gryffindor's mind he did not know anyone, who knew anything about this. He groaned and waved his wand muttering a spell to freeze the potion so nothing happen to them. "Class, I will be giving you a break. If you need to go to the restroom leave now. I will be starting class back up in twenty minutes." The students gasped and the Lions quickly left. Only Hermione, Ace and Neville were writing where they were on the potion. Snape motioned his Snakes to stay.

.

At three-thirty that afternoon, Ace, Ron, and the other Gryffindors hurried down the front steps onto the grounds for their first flying lesson. Ace walked out knowing it was a good day. It was clear, cool day with only a slight breeze. The grass moved with the breeze as they walked down the sloping lawns to the smooth flat lawn on the opposite side of the grounds to the forbidden forest, whose trees were swaying darkly in the distance.

Ace noticed that the Slytherins were already there, and standing with half of the brooms. Which was lined up into two neat lines on the ground. There were about twenty broomsticks lying in neat lines on the ground. Ace had heard Fred and George Weasley complain about the school brooms, saying that some of them started to vibrate if you flew too high, or always flew slightly to the left. Fred had told him not to worry and listen to the teacher and everything be good. Their teacher, Madam Hooch, arrived. She had short, gray hair, and yellow eyes like a hawk. Which made him think of Hawk-eye

She stood at the front and noticed the students standing at there groups. She sighed wishing once the kids know the brooms are on the ground so walk up to it. "Well, what are you all waiting for?" she barked. "Everyone stand by a broomstick. Come on, hurry up. They don't bite. Some may buck you but don't worry, hurry up now. We don't have all day." Ace glanced down at his broom. It was old and some of the twigs stuck out at odd angles. "Stick out your right hand over your broom," called Madam Hooch at the front, "and say 'Up!'"

"UP" everyone shouted. Ace's broom jumped into his hand at once, but it was one of the few that did.

Hermione Granger's had simply rolled over on the ground, and Neville's hadn't moved at all. Ace wondered if it was like an animal and knew when you were afraid. Dean's was the only muggle born who had it in his hand fast. Ace was worried with hearing a quaver in Neville's voice.

"Neville stop worrying and just try to do your best. Know I am here and nothing bad will happen."

Madam Hooch then showed them how to mount their brooms without sliding off the end, and walked up and down the rows correcting their grips. Ron was delighted when she told Malfoy he'd been doing it wrong for years. Ace was told it was perfect and smiled at her. "Ace, you're doing a wonderful job." She said smiling and looked to Neville.

She sighed looking at him. "Dear you are holding that wrong. Your grip is too tight. A broom is like an animal. You need to relax your grip, the broom, it is magic but when you fly around each movement of the broom will be from slight movements you give with your hands. The stronger the movement the sharper the turn."

Seamus raised his hand "What about when you are flying for a sport."

"Well it is different since you will be taking sharp movements and will practice with you broom. And it takes reaction and each broom brand is different. Alright. Now, when I blow my whistle, you kick off from the ground, hard," said Madam Hooch. "Keep your brooms steady, rise a few feet, and then come straight back down by leaning forward slightly. On my whistle — three — two —"

Ace was ready and saw Neville's face go white. "Neville, I won't let anything happen to you." It calmed him down a bit, but Neville, nervous and jumpy and frightened of being left on the ground, pushed off hard before the whistle had touched Madam Hooch's lips.

"Come back, boy!" she shouted, but Neville was rising straight — twelve feet — twenty feet. Ace saw his scared white face look down at the ground getting further away. Neville was holding the broom in a death grip which made the broom start to spin, the class could hear Neville gasping as he slip sideways off the broom and to be hooked to a statue on the castle only his robes were snagged and keeping him from falling. Ace could not stand to see Neville get hurt. He told him he wouldn't let anything happen and he was a man of his word, and a fall like that would kill any child. Luffy could live since he was rubber. So he took off sprinting towards Neville just as Neville started to fall. Getting close he jumped making the students drop their jaws as the watched, Ace jumped more than ten feet in the air. Catching Neville only for both of them to land on the ground with a loud. — WHAM

Ace looked to Neville "You ok man."

Neville shook his head no.

"Come on Nev, you didn't do that bad. And hey, you will do better next time." Ace said looked at Madam Hooch who was standing over them both.

She looked up and saw Neville's broomstick was still rising higher and higher, and started to drift lazily toward the forbidden forest and out of sight. Madam Hooch was bending over Neville, her face as white as his. And looked to Ace "thirty points for saving Neville."

"I don't need points. He is my friend who wouldn't do that." Neville turned to look at Ace when he said that about to cry.

She was looking him over "He looks fine… But I need to take you to the hospital wing, come along to Ace, you need to be looked at as well."

"No need I am fine and not stressed or anything." Ace said being very polite.

Madam Hooch looked him over "Alright, Ace, I will let you be." She turned to Neville "Come on, boy — it's all right, up you go." She turned to the rest of the class. "None of you is to move while I take this boy to the hospital wing! You leave those brooms where they are or you'll be out of Hogwarts before you can say 'Quidditch.' Come on, dear."

Neville, his face tear-streaked, hobbled off with Madam Hooch, who had her arm around him. No sooner were they out of earshot than Malfoy burst into laughter.

"Bloody git." Ron said under his breath.

"Did you see his face, the great lump?" The other Slytherins joined in laughing and talking about him.

"Shut up, Malfoy," snapped Parvati Patil.

"Ooh, sticking up for Longbottom?" said Pansy Parkinson, a hard-faced Slytherin girl. "Never thought you'd like fat little crybabies, Parvati."

"Look!" said Malfoy, darting forward and snatching something out of the grass. "It's that stupid thing Longbottom's Gran sent him." The Remembrall glittered in the sun as he held it up.

"Give that here, Malfoy," said Ace quietly. Ace said he watch out for Neville and wasn't about to let Malfoy get away with hurting him. When the boy wasn't even there to stand up for himself. Ace noticed the silence was among the class as Malfoy smirked nastily

"I think I'll leave it somewhere for Longbottom to find — how about — up a tree or on the roof?" Malfoy yelled up to have a broom rise and him to jump on it and fly into the air.

Ace glared at Malfoy he did not like how childish this was getting. "Look Malfoy give it here." Ace yelled, but Malfoy was taking off. He showed to the other students he could fly well.

Hovering level with the topmost branches of an oak he called, "Come and get it, If you want it you cowardly lion! Or you going to run off like a scare little cub!" Malfoy yelled laughing.

Ace grabbed his broom. "No!" shouted Hermione Granger. "Madam Hooch told us not to move — you'll get us all into trouble."

Ace smirked "Who cares! You do what you think is right." Ace held his hand out thinking about to broom about to say up only to have a broom already flying into his hand. Getting gasp from many of the pureblood students.

Ace had the treat once to ride on Marco's back. And he had loved it so much. Only after that he thought of attacks that let him fly further in the air for attacks. And boy Ace took to the sky like a pirate takes to the sea. Blood was pounding in his ears, Ace soared; air rushed through his hair. Ace was loving this and flying was easy.

He pulled his broomstick up a little to take it even higher and heard screams and gasps of girls back on the ground and an admiring whoop from his room mates.

He turned his broomstick sharply to face Malfoy in midair. Malfoy looked stunned.

"Give it here," Ace called.

"Oh, yeah?" said Malfoy, trying to sneer, but looking worried.

Ace flew towards him and leaned in. Malfoy freaked seeing him coming towards him that moment. He about fell and only stayed on barley. Ace didn't need to know what to do he just did it. Leaning forward while grasping the broom tightly in his left hand. He headed towards Malfoy to try and grab the ball just about to steal it when Malfoy stumbled and looked at Ace with fear.

"No Crabbe and Goyle up here to save your neck, Malfoy, or Snape" Ace called. The same thought seemed to have struck Malfoy. "And like they could stop me. In the ground or the are you're nothing but a child. Now give it here before you get hurt."

Malfoy looked around freaking out only to smirk "Catch it if you can, then!" he shouted, and he threw the glass ball high into the air and streaked back toward the ground.

Ace saw, an everything seemed to be in slow motion; the ball left his hand in a high arch and was soon falling to the ground. Ace gave his broom a quick turn and pushed down. While he leaned forward, as he pointed the broom handle down. Ace felt himself gathering speed in his steep dive. He pushed the school broom faster gathering speed the wind whistled in his ears. Ace could hear the screams of the class mates. He kept his left hand on the broom but reached with his right and felt the glass ball fall into his hand. He quickly pulled up only half a foot off the ground. His feet where brushing the tips of the grass blades. Ace pulled up to jump off still holding on the broom. While all his class mates ran towards him cheering. Ace looked at the Remembrall clutched safely in his fist happy to see it was ok.

"ACE PORTGAS!"

Many of the students' hearts sank faster than Ace's dive thinking this boy who just taken to the air to protect and save an item of one of there house mates would now be leaving them.

"Never — in all my time at Hogwarts —"

Ace wanted to snicker thinking if she never seen anything like this in all her years. Just wait because he was going to be here for seven long years. Unless he finds a way back to his world.

Professor McGonagall was almost speechless with shock, and her glasses flashed furiously, "— how dare you — might have broken your neck —"

"Professor, I wouldn't have broken my neck."

McGonagall glared at him "Where is Madam Hooch?"

"It wasn't his fault, Professor —"

"Be quiet, Miss Patil —"

"But Malfoy —"

"That's enough, Mr. Weasley."

She turned to Ganger "What happen Miss Ganger, where is your Professor?"

"We started are lesson and Neville ended up messing up and flew really high only for his broom to knock him off. Ace ended up saving his life. And then Madam Hooch took him to the Hospital Wing. She told us all not to get on the brooms or we be expelled faster than you can say 'Quidditch." Malfoy at this point looked nervous. "Malfoy started mocking him taking Neville's Remembrall which fallen out of his pocket. Portgas went ahead and told him to give it back only for Malfoy to take off and then Ace followed after to get it back. And the rest you saw."

"Portgas, follow me, now. Malfoy 10 points for not listening to your teacher and a detention with me the next week."

Draco looked mad "What about Ace?"

"I will be taking Mr. Portgas with me."

Ace caught sight of Malfoy, Crabbe, and Goyle's triumphant faces as he left, walking numbly in Professor McGonagall's wake as she strode toward the castle. Ace was thinking he was going to be expelled, and he just couldn't care.

Ace was walking with McGonagall his thoughts where to thinking he needed to find a new place to live. Wondering if they would try and force him to live with one of those woman or would they leave him be. He knew he needed to find a new place to live not wanting them to know where he was. Up the front steps, up the marble staircase inside and still Professor McGonagall didn't say a word to him.

She wrenched open doors and marched along corridors with Ace trotting behind her. Ace stomach twisted while he felt he was hungry. He hadn't been able to eat much food at lunch.

Professor McGonagall stopped outside a classroom. She opened the door and poked her head inside. "Excuse me, Professor Flitwick, could I borrow Wood for a moment?"

Wood? thought Ace, bewildered. Wondering what it could be only wood he could think of was for fires, well there was the kid Wood the twins talk about.

Which was who it was as Wood turned out to be a person, a burly fifth-year boy who came out of Flitwick's class looking confused. "Follow me, you two," said Professor McGonagall, and they marched on up the corridor, Wood looking curiously at Ace. "In here."

Professor McGonagall pointed them into a classroom that was empty except for Peeves, who was busy writing rude words on the blackboard. "Out, Peeves!" she barked. Peeves threw the chalk into a bin, which clanged loudly, and he swooped out cursing. Professor McGonagall slammed the door behind him and turned to face the two boys.

"Portgas, this is Oliver Wood. Wood — I've found you a Seeker."

Wood's expression changed from puzzlement to delight.

"Are you serious, Professor?"

"Absolutely," said Professor McGonagall crisply. "The boy's a natural. I've never seen anything like it. Was that your first time on a broomstick?"

"Yeah, it was."

"He caught that thing in his hand after a fifty-foot dive," Professor McGonagall told Wood. "Didn't even scratch himself. Charlie Weasley couldn't have done it. And from the other scene, I saw he make a great back up chaser."

Wood was now looking as though all his dreams had come true at once. "Ever seen a game of Quidditch, Portgas?" he asked excitedly.

"Wood's captain of the Gryffindor team," Professor McGonagall explained.

"He's just the build for a Seeker, too," said Wood, now walking around Ace and staring at him. "Light —speedy — we'll have to get him a decent broom, Professor — a Nimbus Two Thousand or a Cleansweep Seven, I'd say."

"I shall speak to Professor Dumbledore and see if we can't bend the first-year rule. Heaven knows, we need a better team than last year. Flattened in that last match by Slytherin, I couldn't look Severus Snape in the face for weeks…"

Professor McGonagall peered sternly over her glasses at Ace. "I want to hear you're training hard, Portgas, or I may change my mind about punishing you." she said. "He was an excellent Quidditch player himself. Your father that is."

Ace shook his head "what are you two going on about. Why should I join this team? Did you ask me if I want too?" He looked at her a little annoyed her bringing up his father. Only Whitebeard was his father.

"You're joking." Wood said looking like Ace has lost his head.

Ace looked to Professor McGonagall. "Look Portgas, you have two options. You can join the team. And if you remember what I said at the start of the year your house is your family while you are at school." This made Ace look up at her. "You can help your house by joining the team and having fun. Or otherwise you will be with me for the next year in detention for the stunt you pulled. I thought helping your house would be better uses of your talent. Also the twins are on the team. Try it out if you don't like it, then detention is your other option." McGonagall turned to Wood "I don't want anyone but the team and Albus knowing. So when you Practice Ace tell everyone your in detention. I want to see the look on Snape's face when you show up as the seeker and show everyone up."

Ace raised an eyebrow at her pulling a prank. But what got him and made him pause was the lions was his house and should be his family. He looked at McGonagall in a different light as she smiled. He could see she cared about her cubs just like Pops did. The way she talked about his dad James showed a proud parent.

He walked off sighing heading to dinner. He was sitting at dinner with the twins. They where teaching him about the rules of the sport. Neville was walking to the table and Ace waved to him. "Hey you forgot something." Ace said and handed the Remembrall over to Neville who smiled at him.

"Thanks Ace. And thank you for saving me."

"I told you nothing bad would happen to you. I guess I broke that promise by you going to the hospital wing."

"No it was fine. Will you still help me on Saturdays?"

Ace smiled at the boy, "Of course I will."

Neville smiled "Thanks."

"I tell you, we're going to win that Quidditch cup for sure this year," said Fred.

"We haven't won since Charlie left, but this year's team is going to be brilliant." George finished.

Ace smiled "Well beats detentions."

"Anyway, we've got to go; Lee Jordan reckons he's found a new secret passageway out of the school."

"Bet it's that one behind the statue of Gregory the Smarmy that we found in our first week. See you."

"You coming Ace?" Fred asked.

Ace looked at all the food before him and back to them, "did you hit your head?"

Fred and George laughed running off, they had hardly disappeared when someone far less welcome turned up: Malfoy, flanked by Crabbe and Goyle.

"Having a last meal, Portgas? When are you getting the train back to the Muggles?"

Ace kept eating his food only for them to get more annoyed, and wouldn't leave. Ace turned around "Look go away before I teach you to leave me alone. Crabbe and Goyle have never scared me. You don't scare me and if you think I would back down then you have another thing coming. And I haven't lived with the Muggles for the past few years."

"I'd take you on anytime on my own," said Malfoy. "Tonight, if you want. Wizard's duel. Wands only — no contact. What's the matter? Never heard of a wizard's duel before, I suppose?"

Ace smirked having read many books about the wizarding world and one chapter that was about the duels had interested him. "Of course. You challenged me I give the conditions. My conditions are anything goes, I shall get us a judge." He got up walking to the table. "Professor Flitwick."

"Yes Ace."

"I was just challenged to a wizarding Duel."

"My boy those are not to be taken lightly. The child must not know of what they are."

"I understand and had accepted and told Draco Malfoy the conditions are anything goes. Thing is we need a judge, by law. And Challenging a duel can not be over looked." Snape was glaring at Draco and worried from the memories he had from when he looked into Ace's mind, he worried for his godson.

"Well have you chosen a second yet?" Flitwick looked to the boys. Malfoy looked pale "Umm Crabbe."

"I don't need one-"

"I will be his second," he heard Ron yell.

Ace rolled his eyes at how much Ron was getting into his business.

Flitwick looked worried because of what the foolish snake did. He looked to the two lions worried though if they got hurt.

Flitwick was thinking it was perfect timing that Albus wasn't here. He knew the problems to which the challenge brought. If not dealt with their magic will keep forcing them to get into fights till they did the duel. "What where your terms?"

"Anything goes." Ace said smiling. "Meaning Magic, Muggle fighting, sword fighting, anything goes."

Snape walked to Draco and casted a spell giving him a sword.

"Professor don't you think it is overkill."

"Draco you will need it. And do not hold back."

Professor Flitwick smiled to the school telling them about the duel and started to cast spells another table appeared in the room for a dueling table. He started to cast spells for the dueling wards to be brought up. McGonagall walked in groaning it was about every ten years some dumb pureblood challenged another. Half the time it was over a girl and she needed to make the children back down. Look up she saw it was Ace and Draco walking on the stage. And Flitwick was judging and telling them to bow.

Taking notice that it was Ron and Crabbe. She came up to Flitwick "Really you approved of this?"

"Ace was challenged and you know what happens if they do not fight. Ace gave the terms of anything goes."

McGonagall paled if this was an adult duel that means the unforgivable are allowed and the Ministry could do nothing about it.

"Does he know what he is doing?"

"I think he does. Young Draco wanted it to be late at night from what Ace told me, Draco was going for tonight. So he foolishly would have put those two in a dangerous spot if he didn't show."

McGonagall nodded "Draco will be in a lot more trouble." She noticed the sword in his left hand.

Draco took a deep breath he would prove pure bloods where better and should be feared. Running forward he noticed Ace was picking his nose and flicked a bugger at him only to dodge it grossed out. He never noticed the ground starting to burn. Ace looked at him "You made a mistake boy." Ace looked to the starry ceiling and images of his family flashed before his eyes. 'Take my name, and roam the seas wild and free! Become my son!' Whitebeard said smiling at him.

"Start" Flitwick yelled.

Draco was running again at him and drew his sword swinging at him and plunged it forward going into Ace's chest only for him not to be there. "Really Malfoy is that all you got." Ace said standing behind him.

Draco swung behind him pissed "POTTER!" He yelled and stabbed Ace in the chest pissed. Everyone gasped thinking the boy-who-lived was now going to die.

Draco looked into Ace's eyes glaring he pulled the sword out of his chest no blood was there. Snape though noticed the flicker of flames. Everyone was watching as he flung his cloak off along with his shirt. Everyone noticed how toned his body was and his wand was in his back pocket of his pants. He cracked his knuckles "boy, you will pay for that. I gave you one free hit and that is all you will ever get." He looked into the eyes of Draco and the boy was scared.

Draco had never felt this kind of fear before he now understood the school motto. Never tickle a sleeping dragon. Ace was the dragon and been asleep and he just stabbed it with a sword. He started to back away only to see a flash of light. In front of him was Ace and soon his fist was connecting to Draco's jaw shattering it. Ace did a sweeping kick and knocked Draco on his back. He drew his wand and flames where flickering out of the tip of the wand "Give up NOBLE PUREBLOOD SHIT!" Ace glared at this boy. He seen him pick on the other students with Crabbe and Goyle who where muggleborns. He reminded him of Sabo's family. And that made him want to burn him alive.

McGonagall looked to Flitwick "Call it."

"I can't Malfoy must give up other wise it is till one is dead. That is the problem with anything goes."

Draco was so scared he lost control of himself and started to whimper "I give up."

Ace smiled and walked off picking up his cloak he looked to Malfoy "And it is Portgas." and jumped off the table running back over to his plate to get more food. The many of the houses where cheering though wondering how Ace did not get hurt. Though his head hitting the table soon worried them all.

McGonagall was the first to the boy worried since she was sure he been stabbed only to see he was just asleep. She sighed in relief. "Everyone back to dinner. Malfoy, I understand you can give a Challenge but will be serving another detention and go to the hospital wing."

Snape was with Draco and noticed the smell and started to walk off with the boy.

Ace yawned waking up in his food to start eating again.

Dean looked to Ace worried "Are you sure you are ok. I mean you where stabbed?"

Ace nodded "I will be fine I mean been shot with a gun before too?"

"You shouldn't lie like that."

"It is true. I had just stolen money from a bank and they tried shooting me. Didn't work though."

Hermione looked worried.

Ace walked back to the common room and went to his bed. All the same, it wasn't what you'd call the perfect end to the day, Ace thought, as he lay awake much later listening to Dean and Seamus falling asleep (Neville wasn't back from the hospital wing). Ron had spent all evening going on how cool he was.

Ace was thinking about the prank he was going to do tonight. There was a very good chance they were going to get caught by Filch or Mrs. Norris, and Ace felt he was pushing his luck, breaking another school rule today. On the other hand making some people pay was even better.

Ace stood up and noticed everyone seemed asleep. He walked out heading out of the common room.

He pushed open the portrait of the Fat Lady and climbed through the hole. "Where are you going?" Ron asked.

"Prank what else I can't sleep." Ace wished it be the twins or Lee at least but nope his fan-boy it seemed.

Hermione sat up from a table "You will get us in trouble."

"No I won't."

Hermione wasn't going to give up that easily. She followed Ron through the portrait hole, hissing at them like an angry goose.

"Don't you care about Gryffindor, do you only care about yourselves, I don't want Slytherin to win the house cup, and you'll lose all the points I got from Professor McGonagall for knowing about Switching Spells."

"Go away." Ron said.

"All right, but I warned you, you just remember what I said when you're on the train home tomorrow, you're so —"

But what they were, they didn't find out. Hermione had turned to the portrait of the Fat Lady to get back inside and found herself facing an empty painting. The Fat Lady had gone on a nighttime visit and Hermione was locked out of Gryffindor tower.

"Now what am I going to do?" she asked shrilly.

"That's your problem," said Ron. "We've got to go."

"Look both of you leave me alone." Ace said annoyed with the two of them.

They hadn't even reached the end of the corridor when Hermione caught up with them.

"I'm coming with you," she said.

"You are not."

"D'you think I'm going to stand out here and wait for Filch to catch me? If he finds all three of us I'll tell him the truth, that I was trying to stop you, and you can back me up."

"He won't care none of them will care you are still breaking rules."

"You've got some nerve —" said Ron loudly.

"Shut up, both of you!" said Ace sharply. "I heard something." It was a sort of snuffling.

"Mrs. Norris?" breathed Ron, squinting through the dark.

"Doesn't sound like her." Ace smiled he liked Neville even if the boy was a bumbling mess half the time. He was curled up on the floor, fast asleep, but jerked suddenly awake as they crept nearer.

"Thank goodness you found me! I've been out here for hours; I couldn't remember the new password to get in to bed." Neville said smiling looking at Ace then noticed Ron and Hermione.

"Keep your voice down, Neville. The password's 'Pig snout' but it won't help you now; the Fat Lady's gone off somewhere."

"How are you doing?" said Ace.

"Fine," said Neville. "Madam Pomfrey gave me a calming potion."

"Good — well, look, Neville, I've got to be somewhere, I'll see you later —"

"Don't leave me!" said Neville, scrambling to his feet, "I don't want to stay here alone, the Bloody Baron's been past twice already."

Ron looked at his watch and then glared furiously at Hermione and Neville. "If either of you get us caught, I'll never rest until I've learned that Curse of the Bogies Quirrell told us about, and used it on you."

"The bat bogey hex? It's not a curse, it's a-"

Ace turned to Hermione glaring at her "Look I don't care. I am pranking if I get Caught I will do what I did to Draco to the two of you. Now Be quite." He started to sneak down to the dungeons with them following and being quiet he quickly whispered the password making them gasp. He walked in and started to cast some sells on the chairs and then casted a spell to make the common room pink. He smiled and another to make it say Draco rules in bright red." He walked out with Ron following and Hermione and Neville.

"Why did you right that?"

Ace rolled his eyes "to make it look like Draco did it. Now be quiet." They where on the stairs. "We have only an hour till the fifth years get done with the astronomy class meaning the fat lady will be back soon."

They looked at Ace surprised. Ace rolled his eyes "did you think we where the only ones to have a class at midnight? Really you didn't know that?"

Hermione opened her mouth.

Ace hissed at her to be quiet and beckoned them all forward. They flitted along corridors striped with bars of moonlight from the high windows. He knew he heard Filch up ahead and needed to take them a different way. They sped up a staircase to the third floor and tiptoed toward the trophy room.

The crystal trophy cases glimmered where the moonlight caught them. Cups, shields, plates, and statues winked silver and gold in the darkness. They edged along the walls, keeping their eyes on the doors at either end of the room

"Wow it is the Quidditch cup." Ron said smiling while looking at it.

Then a noise in the next room made them jump. Ace had only just raised his hand when they heard someone speak. Ace motioned the others to follow him.

"Sniff around, my sweet. I think I heard someone. "

It was Filch speaking to Mrs. Norris. Horror-struck, Ace waved madly at the other three to follow him as quickly as possible; they finally noticed him and scurried silently toward the door, away from Filch's voice. Neville's robes had barely whipped round the corner when they heard Filch enter the trophy room.

"They're in here somewhere," they heard him mutter, "probably hiding."

"This way!" Ace mouthed to the others. He noticed they where petrified with fear, they began to creep down a long gallery full of suits of armor. They could hear Filch getting nearer. Neville suddenly let out a frightened squeak and broke into a run he tripped, grabbed Ron around the waist, and the pair of them toppled right into a suit of armor. The clanging and crashing were enough to wake the whole castle.

"Shit, follow me and RUN!" He yelled back at the three others. Then sprinted down the gallery, not looking back to see whether Filch was following — they swung around the doorpost and galloped down one corridor then another, Ace in the lead, without any idea where they were or where they were going — they ripped through a tapestry and found themselves in a hidden passageway, hurtled along it and came out near their Charms classroom, which they knew was miles from the trophy room.

"I think we've lost him," Ron panted, leaning against the cold wall and wiping his forehead. Neville was bent double, wheezing and spluttering. He noticed Ace was still alert and looking back the way they came.

"I —told — you," Hermione gasped, clutching at the stitch in her chest, "I — told — you."

Ace glared at Hermione "you told me not to go. I told you all to stay only person who should be out here besides me is Neville. Now if you please shut up. I don't want to be found or Fred will never let me hear the end of it."

"We've got to get back to Gryffindor tower," said Ron, "quickly as possible. And why just Fred. It be the twins who be that way."

"We should never have left the common room." Hermione said to Ace.

Ace looked to Ron now seeing why the two brothers could care less for him. And much of there family. If the younger boy just thought them as a set then he could see why. He knew they liked Bill, Charlie and little Ginny as they called her. He groaned needed to get them back to the common room. He thought how Luffy give him less problems sneaking around.

"Let's go. It won't be easy to get back with out notice. You with all the running we did and one of you taking a wrong turn making me follow you. We are in an area that doesn't have many shortcuts. So lets go no talking. Other wise I will leave you. And Hermione if you get left and blab about us. We will be back in our dorm room pretending to sleep. And deny leaving at all." He smiled. "now no talking." The other first year lions nodded to Ace. Ace turned and heard doorknob rattled and something came shooting out of a classroom in front of them. It was Peeves.

He caught sight of them and gave a squeal of delight. Ace smirked and saw Ron and Hermione about to say something. "Hey Peeves how are you doing?"

Peeves cackled. "Wandering around at midnight, Ickle Firsties? Tut, tut, tut. Naughty, naughty, you'll get caughty."

Ace smiled "You know that isn't true. So what do you want me to give you to not say anything to Filch? Or any pranks you want to see?" George and Fred telling him how not to get Peeves on your bad side.

"Should tell Filch, I should," said Peeves in a saintly voice, but his eyes glittered wickedly. "It's for your own good, you know." Ron and Hermione looked scared but Neville looked to Ace nervous but trusted him.

"I want some stink bombs and if you could prank Percy in your house. He been bugging me. Other wise I will make you pay. Now bring me five bags of them and it is a deal."

"You got it." Ace said smiling and looked him in the eyes. "Remember though don't betray me like last time." His eyes where on fire and none of the other three knew why Peeves was nervous. "I won't." he took off.

"STUDENTS OUT OF BED!" Peeves bellowed, "STUDENTS OUT OF BED DOWN THE HISTORY CORRIDOR!"

Ace felt Ron and Hermione starting to run as ran for their lives. That was when he noticed Neville being dragged by Hermione. Ace took off he needed to make sure nothing happened to Neville. They three first years ran to the end of the corridor where they slammed into a door — and it was locked.

"This is it!" Ron moaned, as they pushed helplessly at the door, "We're done for! This is the end!" They could hear footsteps not knowing it was Ace coming up.

"Oh, move over," Hermione snarled. She grabbed Ron's wand, tapped the lock, and whispered, "Alohomora!"

The lock clicked and the door swung open — they piled through it, shut it quickly, and pressed their ears against it, listening.

Ace saw the room they went into and thought back to last Saturday night. Fred, Lee, George and him all went in that room. Ace had to beat the dog down since it had grabbed Lee's robe. The four of them decided they needed to figure a way to get in the trap door. But the three who ran in there where good as dead if he didn't get in there.

"Of all the things." Ace ran over trying to open the door.

Hermione and Ron's ears were to the door. Not knowing Neville was scared so bad he couldn't say anything.

Hermione was listening for the person to leave thinking it was Filch outside the door. When she heard Ace. "Hermione, Ron, Neville open the door and get out here now hurry."

Hermione looked to Ron. And opened the door to let him in. Only for them to be thrown out of the room with great force. That was when they heard the growling and saw the drooling Neville who fallen to the floor when Ron yanked him in there.

Hermione knew they weren't in a room. She knew they were in a corridor. The forbidden corridor on the third floor. And now she knew why it was forbidden.

Ace took off running into the room. Because over Neville looking at him like a snack was a monstrous dog, a dog that filled the whole space between ceiling and floor. It had three heads. Three pairs of rolling, mad eyes; three noses, twitching and quivering in their direction; three drooling mouths, saliva hanging in slippery ropes from yellowish fangs. Three sets of ears that are laying flat at the moment while. The dog's lips raised as he was growling. It was standing quite still, all six eyes staring at Neville.

Ace knew what he had to do. He reached Neville pushing him behind him. Glaring at the dog smiling. He swung his hand down and a flame whip snapped at its feet making it look right at him. "Get out and go I will be fine, see you in the morning."

"Are you crazy?" Hermione shrieked only to have the beast leap at them from her getting the attention. Ace jumped up kicking it across the room. He growled and cracked his knuckles. "I say get out I mean it." He was about to run at the dog only to be dragged out the door by Hermione.

"Why did you do that?" He said turning around on her and heard her putting a locking spell on the door. "Because you get killed. Thank you for saving us but why would you stay?"

"Because I never run from a fight lets go. And never turn my back." He started leading them to the dorm. They didn't stop until they reached the portrait of the Fat Lady on the seventh floor.

"Where on earth have you all been?" she asked, looking at their bathrobes hanging off their shoulders and their flushed, sweaty faces.

She noticed Ace looked bored and like he hadn't done anything "You been out again?"

"Yeah and they followed me foolish."

"Never mind that — pig snout, pig snout," panted Hermione, and the portrait swung forward. They scrambled into the common room and collapsed, trembling, into armchairs. It was a while before any of them said anything. Neville, indeed, looked as if he'd never speak again.

"What do they think they're doing, keeping a thing like that locked up in a school?" said Ron finally. "If any dog needs exercise, that one does."

Hermione had got both her breath and her bad temper back again. "You don't use your eyes, any of you, do you?" she snapped. "Didn't you see what it was standing on?"

"Um Hermione, I don't think they were looking at the floor with three big heads to be concerned with!"

"The floor?" Ace suggested he smiled knowing it was the trap door and wanted to go down it. But Hermione dragged him out. He was planning to find out was next so he could inform the group of pranksters. So they could figure out the clues.

"No, not the floor. It was standing on a trapdoor. It's obviously guarding something."

She stood up, glaring at them. "I hope you're pleased with yourselves. We could all have been killed — or worse, expelled. Now, if you don't mind, I'm going to bed."

Ron stared after her, his mouth open. "No, we don't mind," he said. "You'd think we dragged her along, wouldn't you."

Ace smiled he figured the thing down there was what Hagrid had picked up.

Ace knew what happen with it and now had to get it. He needed to talk to the twins. They be good at helping him figure out what is down there.

Next morning Ace noticed some things Ron wouldn't leave him be thinking they where best mates or something. And well Hermione was now refusing to speak to Ace but she was bugging him so he didn't care.

Ace was only worried about Neville since he seemed more pale than normal. "Hey Neville don't forget tomorrow morning we go to the lake to get you better at not being clumsy."

Ace yawned and smiled seeing Fred and George walk in only to notice the snakes had yet to show up. "Hey what did you do?"

"Nothing much since Ron, Neville and Hermione followed me last night. But I did make it so all their skin would turn green. So I bet they won't want to come down. For awhile." He soon noticed Snape stomping over. He looked at Ace in the eyes and shuddered "Ace, I need to see you before class. We need to talk."

Ace shrugged his shoulder "sure thing Professor." He noticed Snape walking away and wondered what he wanted.

As the owls flooded into the Great Hall as usual, everyone's attention was caught at once by a long, thin package carried by six large screech owls. Ace was just as interested as everyone else to see what was in this large parcel, and was amazed when the owls soared down and dropped it right in front of him, knocking his bacon on the floor.

They had hardly fluttered out of the way when another owl dropped a letter on top of the parcel. Ace ripped open the letter first, which was lucky, because it said:

DO NOT OPEN THE PARCEL AT THE TABLE.

It contains your new Nimbus Two Thousand,

but I don't want everybody knowing you've

got a broomstick or they'll all want one.

Oliver Wood will meet you tonight on the Quidditch field

at seven o'clock for your first training session.

Professor M. McGonagall

Ace had difficulty hiding his glee as he handed the note to Neville to read. But Ron grabbed it instead.

"A Nimbus Two Thousand!" Ron moaned enviously. "I've never even touched one. Lets go so we can look at it."

Ace looked at Ron like he was crazy. "And miss Breakfast hell no. It is just a broom."

"It's not any old broomstick," he said, "it's a Nimbus Two Thousand. It is the top of the line the handling on it is amazing. The Nimbus is capable of 0 – 115 MPH acceleration in just 10 seconds. It is one of the top of the line in Britain the Cannons use them along with over half of the teams. I even heard the Emeralds from America use them. They are the top of the line this year." Ron grinned at Ace. "Comets look flashy, but they're not in the same league as the Nimbus."

Ace rolled his eyes "that's nice."

"'That's nice' how can you be so calm."

"I am eating so take a pill and chill." He said and went back to eating leaving Ron stumped.

"So I suppose you think that's a reward for breaking rules?" Came an angry voice from just behind them. Hermione was looking disapprovingly at the package on the table.

He looked to her "You know what if I was kicked out of school I be fine with that. What you don't know is that I have to be on the team or in detention every night for the year. Now which one would you pick?" He went back to eating.

Ace groaned having to run off to his room to drop off the package then sprint off to meet with Snape before class. When he reached the room he knocked on the door.

"Enter."

Ace walked in and noticed the bookshelves and comfy looking cough and chairs then the desk with paper work. There were also many pictures from his childhood around. He looked to see Snape getting up from a potion table and casting a spell on his cauldron.

He looked to Ace "I know there is things you are hiding and don't like it. But Hagrid been telling the other Professors you live in the forest which I find hard to believe. But last night-" Snape knew he needed to word this right he did not want this boy to know he been in his head.

"The look in your eyes said you seen death. You been in a fight. A real fight. And the way you moved… You could have really hurt Draco but you didn't. I wanted to thank you for not harming him. I saw a bit of your mother in you last night. But your father shows too much. Now leave."

Ace wanted to yell at him 'that's it that the reason you called me down her for.' "You're welcome. But I don't kill children." Ace turned and left sprinting off to his next class. Not knowing Snape had wanted to talk more to him but was worried and couldn't for other people watching. He hated the paintings and how they told the headmaster everything that went on.

As seven o'clock drew nearer, Ace left the castle and set off in the dusk toward the Quidditch field. He'd never been inside the stadium field. Hundreds of seats were raised in stands around the fields so spectators were high enough to see what was going on. At either end of the field were three golden hoops on the end. They reminded Ace of the little plastic sticks Muggle children blew bubbles through, except that they were fifty feet high.

Too eager to fly again to wait for Wood, Ace mounted his broomstick and kicked off from the ground. What a feeling-he swooped in and out of the goal posts and then sped up and down the field. The Nimbus Two Thousand turned wherever he wanted at his lightest touch. Ace smiled as the wind blew through his hair thinking back to being on the open sea and being on his ship sailing. And then thought of his big family. He missed them a lot.

"Hey, Portgas, come down!" Oliver Wood had arrived. He was carrying a large wooden crate under his arm. Ace landed next to him. "Very nice," said Wood, his eyes glinting. "I see what McGonagall meant…you really are a natural. I'm just going to teach you the rules this evening, and then you'll be joining team practice three times a week."

He opened the crate. Inside were four different-sized balls. "Right," said Wood. "Now, Quidditch is easy enough to understand, even if it's not too easy to play. There are seven players on each side. Three of them are called Chasers."

"Three Chasers," Ace repeated, as Wood took out a bright red ball about the size of a football.

"This ball's called the Quaffle," said Wood. "The Chasers throw the Quaffle to each other and try and get it through one of the hoops to score a goal. Ten pointes every time the Quaffle goes through one of the hoops. Follow me?"

"The Chasers throw the Quaffle and put it through the hoops to score," Ace recited. Now, there's another player on each side who's called the Keeper-I'm Keeper for Gryffindor. I have to fly around our hoops and stop the other team from scoring."

"Like goal keepers in football?"

"Football?"

"A fun sport muggle sport… But never mind. So, three Chasers, one Keeper," said Ace, who was determined to remember it all. "And they play with the Quaffle. Okay, got that. So what are they for?" He pointed at the three balls left inside the box.

"I'll show you now," said Wood. "Take this."

"I'm going to show you what the Bludgers do," Wood said. "These two are the Bludgers." He showed Ace two identical balls, jet black and slightly smaller than the red Quaffle. Ace noticed that they seemed to be straining to escape the straps holding them inside the box.

"Stand back," Wood warned Ace. He bent down and freed one of the Bludgers. At once, the black ball rose high in the air and then pelted straight at Ace's face.

Ace swung at it with the bat to stop it from breaking his nose. Ok it would have gone through his body and done no harm. But he was trying to keep that on the down low. The Bludger was sent zigzagging away into the air-it zoomed around their heads and then shot at Wood. Who was ready to get it only for Ace to hold his hand out catching it.

Wood looked at Ace like he had a second head and the holidays had come early. He noticed Ace's arm didn't move much as the Bludger tried to get free.

Wood looked to Ace "The Bludgers rocket around, trying to knock players off their brooms. That's why you have two Beaters on each team-the Weasley twins are ours-it's their job to protect their side from the Bludgers and try and knock them toward the other team. So-think you've got all that?"

"Three Chasers try and score with the Quaffle; the Keeper guards the goal posts; the Beaters keep the Bludgers away from their team," Ace reeled off.

"Very good," said Wood.

"Now, the last member of the team is the Seeker. That's you. And you don't have to worry about the Quaffle or the Bludgers the Weasleys are more than a match for the Bludgers-I mean, they're like a pair of human Bludgers themselves." Wood reached into the crate and took out the fourth and last ball. Compared with the Quaffle and the Bludgers, it was tiny, about the size of a large walnut. It was bright gold and had little fluttering silver wings

"This," said Wood, "is the Golden Snitch, and it's the most important ball of the lot. It's very hard to catch because it's so fast and difficult to see. It's the Seeker's job to catch it. You've got to weave in and out of the Chasers, Beaters, Bludgers, and Quaffle to get it before the other team's Seeker, because whichever Seeker catches the Snitch wins his team an extra hundred and fifty points, so they nearly always win. That's why Seekers get fouled so much. A game of Quidditch only ends when the Snitch is caught, so it can go on for ages-I think the record is three months, they had to keep bringing on substitutes so the players could get some sleep. Well, that's it-any questions?"

"Can a seeker help the chasers out?"

Wood looked to Ace. "You know I think you could… Though I never heard of it done before. We could try once or twice…" Wood was smiling "but remember snitch is important. We won't practice with the Snitch yet," said Wood, carefully shutting it back inside the crate, "it's too dark, we might lose it. Let's try you out with a few of these." He pulled a bag of ordinary golf balls out of his pocket and a few minutes later, he and Ace were up in the air, Wood throwing the golf balls as hard as he could in every direction for Ace to catch. Ace didn't miss a single one, and Wood was delighted. After half an hour, night had really fallen and they couldn't carry on. Wood was walking with Ace as they both talking about different drills and formations.

Ace liked Wood he was a good guy. And he really cared about the sport. He was making him think of Luffy when he talked about Shanks when he was little.

"That Quidditch cup'll have our name on it this year," said Wood happily as they trudged back up to the castle. "I wouldn't be surprised if you turn out better than Charlie Weasley, and he could have played for England if he hadn't gone off chasing dragons."

Ace was laying down thinking in bed before he fell asleep. Two months he been at Hogwarts. And now it was the night before Halloween. He thought about his lessons which was coming along. And seemed Snape wanted to talk to him but was scared. Which made no since at all, it left him baffled. He yawned and put his book on the night stand. He been reading about spells to find someone. He just wanted to go home.

Ace closed his eyes and was now in Marco's room. Who was at his desk looking over a map. "Marco?"

Marco sat up and turned seeing Ace standing there. "Ace, is that really you. I thought I just had strange dreams. I mean I saw your brother once… And still why are you a kid."

"Well with my memories I think my father… Not Pops the man who donated to my birth. He made a deal with death for me to have a second chance."

"By chance you meet any one else."

"No just me."

"So what are you doing?"

Ace growled and muttered under his breath something Marco couldn't hear.

"You have to speak up."

"I have been going to a school… A wizarding school."

Marco started to snicker and burst into laughter.

"So how are things going with you and the crew? I mean it has been 11 years for me what about you all?"

Marco looked to Ace sadly "Only a few months total. Your brother had gone back to Marineford and raised hell. He is ok. From what I gathered he is out training. I was asked to take over. I meet with the other commanders and getting all the crew together. We are having two new ships made. Since we had to have Shanks help us get everyone off and with two ships down… But Blackbeard is a problem with many others taking Pops territory."

Marco turned hearing Ace crying he freaked out standing up waving his hands trying to figure out what to do. Then thought of picking Ace up and just holding him and giving him a hug. "What's wrong?"

"It is all my fault."

Marco looked to Ace. "It was going to happen… Doctors said the wounds my miracle didn't kill him, Ace, Pops time had just come. He was scary strong. Pops only had two wounds that were really bad… All the others that happen after… He used his Haki to stop most of it. Look do you think you will be able to come back and not when I am dreaming?"

"I am looking. There is a library and I bought a book about different worlds… Most of it talks about runes. Which there is a class about it latter years in my school I am going. I will come back."

"Alright I will leave your spot open. So what is going on at your school?"

Ace groaned and started telling him everything. And many of it was annoying and childish. And told him about the twins, Neville, everything that had happen to him. Even the Dursleys.

Marco started laughing about the pranks. "Well have you thought of molding the children?"

"What are you talking about?"

"Think about it. They are children. Give them some slack I know I gave you some before you joined us. If you don't like something start changing things. The Neville kid you told me about. You take him out running every day. And now he can keep up with a light jog with you. Though as you said that is a full run for you. But come on. Ace, if you don't like something start changing things. Our world over here is messed up. But you are in a spot you can change people. They are kids so of course they will act like kids. But you need to have fun and loosen up. I know you Blame your self for everything. And if you want why not train yourself to be stronger than before. I mean magic is great but why don't you start training in Haki?"

Ace looked to him. "Wait… I didn't think of it that way."

Marco smiled "let the wizarding world see what it like to have a pirate among them." He looked at Ace smiling. 'Or Pops said to have a real D.' "You will go far and change the world. And seems everyone loves you for a weird reason. So use it and make the world what you want it to be. And then come back to us. Or stay there."

"Almost sound like you don't want me Marco…." Ace said joking.

Marco rolled his eyes. "You know I want you back. Just be safe… And good luck at your game duiqditch."

"Its Quidditch."

"Yeah that is what I said."

Ace started to laugh and smile.

"Ace, stop getting bored and make changes. And come back."

Ace spent time talking to Marco about his pranks with the twins only to be shaken out of it and room started to spin. Pulling him away from Marco who was running towards him trying to keep him from leaving.

Ron was looking at Ace shaking him since he wasn't responding. Ace opened his eyes with a glare and about punched the boy. "Why did you wake me?"

"Umm everyone left for breakfast and you miss it if I didn't wake you. So hurry up." He said and ran off.

Ace sat there alone in the room wondering about his family. Marco hadn't heard much about Luffy which worried him. Last time he saw him in his dreams he wasn't doing good at all.

Ace sat up and could the delicious smell of baking pumpkin wafting through the corridors. As he spent his day upset. He looked up only when Professor Flitwick announced in Charms that he thought they were ready to start making objects fly, something they had all been dying to try since they'd seen him make Neville's toad zoom around the classroom. He thought how much Luffy would love it. Even Luffy's crew would love it. Chopper he thought of the blue nose reindeer flying around would love this. Professor Flitwick put the class into pairs to practice. Ace's partner was Seamus Finnigan.

"Now, don't forget that nice wrist movement we've been practicing!" squeaked Professor Flitwick, perched on top of his pile of books as usual. "Swish and flick, remember, swish and flick. And saying the magic words properly is very important, too-never forger Wizard Baruffio, who said 's' instead of 'f' and found himself on the floor with a buffalo on his chest."

It was very difficult. Ace and Seamus swished and flicked, but the feather they were supposed to be sending skyward just lay on the desktop. Seamus got so impatient that he prodded it with his wand and set fire to it-Ace had to put it out by picking up the flame and it disappeared. Seamus smiled "Wicked."

Ace shrugged his shoulder.

Ace could over hear the two loudest of the lions. Ron, at the next table, wasn't have much more luck. "Wingardium Leviosa!" he shouted, waving his long arms like a windmill.

"You're saying it wrong," Ace heard Hermione snap. "It's Wing-gar-dium- Levi-o-sa; make the 'gar' nice and long."

"You do it, then, if you're so clever," Ron snarled. Ace shook his head and did his spell to make it lift in the air only to turn to fire though the feather looked fine and wasn't burning 'that's new,' He thought.

Hermione rolled up the sleeves of her gown, flicked her wand, and said, "Wingardium Leviosa!" Their feather rose off the desk and hovered about four feet above their heads.

"Oh, well done!" cried Professor Flitwick, clapping. "Everyone see here, Miss Granger's done it! Ace you and Seamus with the fire. Though how it is not burning amazing… Though you used to much power try and pull your magic back a bit."

Ron was in a very bad mood by the end of the class. "It's no wonder no one can stand her," he said to the boys of the first years.

Ace was talking to Neville about what they should add to their work out next. When Ron started to yell over "she's a nightmare, honestly." Someone knocked into Ace as they hurried past him. It was Hermione.

Ace caught a glimpse of her face-and was startled to see that she was in tears.

"Ron, she heard you." Neville pointed out.

"So?" said Ron, but he looked a bit uncomfortable. "She must've noticed she's got no friends."

The other boys walked off. When they went ahead and headed off to class. Hermione had not been there for any of the other classes the rest of the day. On their way down to the Great Hall for the Halloween feast, Ace overheard Parvati Patil telling her friend Lavender that Hermione was crying in the girls' bathroom and wanted to be left alone.

Ace made sure he sat by the Lee and Neville. Fred and George sat across from him while Ron was sitting with Dean glaring at Ace thinking he did something.

Ace was worried for the girl, Makino said to be nice to girls. And he was worried for her. But looking around seeing thousands of live bats fluttered from the walls and ceiling while a thousand more swooped over the tables in low black clouds, making the candles in the pumpkins stutter. The feast appeared suddenly on the golden plates, as it had at the start-of-term banquet.

Ace was just helping himself to a baked potato when Professor Quirrell came sprinting into the hall, his turban askew and terror on his face. Everyone stared as he reached Professor Dumbledore's chair, slumped against the table, and gasped, "Troll — in the dungeons — thought you ought to know." He then sank to the floor in a dead faint.

There was a moment of silence before there was an uproar. It took several purple firecrackers exploding from the end of Professor Dumbledore's wand to bring silence.

"Prefects," he rumbled, "lead your Houses back to the dormitories immediately!" Percy was in his element. "Follow me! Stick together, first years! No need to fear the troll if you follow my orders! Stay close behind me, now. Make way, first years coming through! Excuse me, I'm a prefect!"

Ace grabbed a bunch of meat and join Neville who was scared. He looked and saw the Snakes where even more terrified, and then the Hufflepuffs. He paused 'really they have to head towards the dungeons. Then thinking of Quirrell, something bothered him the way he fainted didn't seem real. Looking around he noticed as he was pushed by the hoards of students he was gone.

"How could a troll get in?" Dean asked as they climbed the stairs.

"Don't ask me, they're supposed to be really stupid," said Ron. "Maybe Peeves let it in for a Halloween joke."

"I don't think so Ron, even Peeves knows when to draw the line." Fred answered him.

They passed different groups of people hurrying in different directions. As they jostled their way through a crowd of confused and terrified Hufflepuffs.

"Who is that bastard of a headmaster thinking?" This made all the students around Ace look at him in surprise. Saying something like that about the leader of the light. "I mean we where in the Great Hall and everything was ok. A good spot to keep the students safe. But he sent the students out. Some of the students' common rooms are in the dungeons… And most students couldn't take care of themselves. I mean we could lose people and students get turned around…" Ace froze. He looked for Lavender.

"I've just thought — Hermione."

"What about her?" She froze… "She isn't with us." She said after searching.

"She doesn't know about the troll. Where is she?"

"We are just a corridor away it is that way." She pointed down the hallway. The twins walked up next to Ace and Neville.

"We need to find her she could be in danger."

That was when the smell hit them all.

"Percy!" Ron said trembling.

Percy froze in panic…"Everyone third years and below get against the wall. Fourth years and up front we have to get out of here now."

"Can you smell something?" Ace sniffed and a foul stench reached his nostrils, a mixture of old socks and the kind of public toilet no one seems to clean.

The loins where worried it was echoing off the walls. But they heard it. A grunting and the shuffling footfalls of gigantic feet.

The seventh year girl Perfect pointed — at the end of a passage to the left, something huge was moving toward them. They shrank into the shadows and watched as it emerged into a patch of moonlight. The back of the troll was light only for it to step into the light. Had the students gasping seeing there fate. It was an awful

sight. Twelve feet tall, its skin was a dull, granite gray, its great lumpy body like a boulder with its small bald head perched on top like a coconut. It had short legs thick as tree trunks with flat, horny feet. The smell coming from it was incredible. It was holding a huge wooden club, which dragged along the floor because its arms were so long.

The troll stopped next to a doorway and peered inside. It waggled its long ears, making up its tiny mind, and then looked to be walking into a room.

"Thank goodness that was bloody scary." Ron said out loud.

The troll turned and saw all the students.

Lavender looked to Ace "That is the girl's bathroom. The troll is standing in front of it." She whispered. And was crying silent tears thinking she was going to die.

The troll stood looking at them.

"Percy, there is a secret passageway a bit back behind us."

Percy turned to Fred "Fred, are you telling the truth."

"I wouldn't lie like this."

"First up to fourth follow Fred."

George looked to Percy. "Come one you all need to come." He said as Fred was leading the younger students to safety.

"We have to watch out for you. Now go faster you move quicker we will be out of here."

The troll was starting moving towards the students seeing some running away. Ace stepped foreword. "Hermione is in that room."

Percy and all the perfects paled. They where sending out spells but nothing stopping it. Ace took off running at it. And it lifted its club swinging it down at Ace who dodged it. And jumped up punching it in the face knocking it back. "PERCY GET HERMIONE OUT OF THE BATHROOM!" Percy nodded and took off running.

Ace was worried when the troll saw Percy running past he about swung his club to smash the Perfect. But Ace was there and kicked the club out of its hand. "Hey you're fighting me."

Hermione was washing her Hands when Percy came barging in the bathroom. "What are you doing this is the girls-"

"Hermione what are you-" he noticed her red face she been in here crying. "A troll was let into the school. I need to get you out of here. Follow me and do what I do."

Hermione was as white as Moaning Myrtle. "Ok." She followed him out to see Ace fighting the troll. Percy was waiting for the right moment. When George showed up on their right and the troll on their left. "Come on this way."

"I told you to-"

"Fred has the other students heading to the common room. Upper classes are backing up Ace. I came to get you around the troll." He went to the right and moved a painting and saw a hidden passage way leading behind the bathrooms and to the other side of the corridor. It was a servant passage way Hermione noted to herself. When they came out they where close to the other students. Percy went to see how Ace was doing. To see Ace come flying into a wall, but only to jump on his feet and take off running again. She joined everyone else to see the boy pick the club up and smash it against the troll's head. Which fell to the ground with a thud.

A sudden slamming and loud footsteps made the students of then look up.

Ace walked to Hermione checking her over "good you're ok." He smiled.

Percy and all the students turned with relief that Professor McGonagall had come bursting into the corridor, closely followed by Snape, with Quirrell bringing up the rear. Quirrell took one look at the troll, let out a faint whimper, and sat quickly down on a toilet, clutching his heart.

Snape bent over the troll. Professor McGonagall was looking at Hermione and Ace. Ace had never seen her look so angry. Her lips were white. She turned to Percy who was the nearest perfect.

"What on earth happened?" said Professor McGonagall, with cold fury in her voice. Ace looked at George. Thinking they led the students to find the troll. "You're lucky you weren't killed. Why aren't you in your dormitory?"

Snape gave Ace a swift, piercing look.

Percy looked at her "We were on our way when the troll trapped us. Fred led the younger students down a hidden passage way. That was when Ace told me Hermione was in the girl's restroom. I couldn't leave her to her death. Then Ace went and took the troll on by him self without magic. He punched the troll across the corridor and kept it away from me while I went to get Hermione. Only for us to come out and George was there and showed us a different route. When we got out to watch Ace pick up the club and knock it out."

"Miss Granger!" Hermione looked at the ground.

"I went looking for the troll because I — I thought I could deal with it on my own — you know, because I've read all about them."

Ace growled "Professor, she did not do that."

Hermione tried to cut him off. But he sent her a look that made her shut up real fast.

"Earlier today some other students said something that upset her. I over heard Lavender talking about how Hermione been crying in the bathroom and wanted to left alone. When the troll was set lose I didn't think about her to tell a professor until when where on our way. I asked Lavender. She said it was that one and that is when the troll showed up. First off where ever that headmaster is… I don't understand why you sent untrained wizards and witches through the school on our own. When it was in the dungeons. If we did not run into the troll, then the Hufflepuffs or Slytherin would have run into it. I don't understand why we were send on our own. You could have locked the Great Hall to keep us safe there while you dealt with the problem."

Snape looked at Ace surprised. This was not James' son but someone different. He saw Lily for a moment pointing out stupidity.

"Well — in that case…" said Professor McGonagall, staring at the all of them, "Miss Granger, I am happy nothing happen to you. I want all of the Gryffindor's to Hospital wing. I don't know what kind of things that troll could have. And it be better all of you to be checked up on." He turned to Percy and the perfects. "For all of you 10 points for doing your duty." She looked to Fred or George. She was too stressed to tell. "Mr. Weasley. Both you and your brother got the younger years out of here then helped Percy save Miss Ganger. For that 10 points each…" She looked to Ace but Snape raised his hand.

"Mr. Portgas from pointing out the danger the other students have faced. I give you 5 points. You pointed out something as your elder and professor we should have seen. Also for taking down a mountain troll by yourself. I give you 15 points. Please don't lose them too fast. Minerva, I will take them to the hospital wing and gather your other Gryffindor's. Now all of you follow me." He said to everyone's surprise. Dumbledore and the rest of the teachers showed up that moment.

Hermione hung her head. Ace was speechless

Madam Pomfrey was rushing around her wing. Severus whispered her something and they went to her private room. Ace watched as he limped. 'So he is hurt? I wonder what happen.'

Madam Pomfrey started to hand out potions to help keep them healthy. Though a few students who where really shaken up had to stay over night. When she found out Ace been slammed into the wall she quickly pulled him to a bed and started to run spells on him to make sure he was ok. She gave him potions to help even though he was ok just ruffed up. Ace was more upset knowing that the common room was packed and noisy. Everyone was eating the food that had been sent up.

Hermione walked over to Ace's bed "Thanks."

Ace smiled "I do it again if I had to." He looked to her. "I wanted…. You know lets talk in the morning."

She nodded her head smiling and chuckled and went to her bed to go sleep.

Unknown to the two first years, is that a seventh year boy. Who was with them and watched Ace fight. Had gone to the Owlery, the moment he been freed by Madam Pomfrey. With the letter in hand a vile with his memory of the night he sent it off. Ace brought up a point about the letting students wonder around. So among all the owls flying home to parents telling them what happen. A letter was sent with a memory to the head of Department of Magical Law Enforcement.

That night Albus did not think about all the students that would mail home to them other wise he would have closed the Owlery. He went had told the house elves to put calming draughts into the food for the students. Not thinking many were too scared to eat.

While the school was starting to calm down Ace was drifting off to sleep. Only to see a boy missing his straw hat.

..

Gol D Rodger was smiling he been worried when death started to follow his son that night. Apparently many children where to die that night. Yet his son had saved them all. That bossy girl with the crazy puffy hair would been the only one to live besides the students taken by the twins. The older students would have all been killed. But Ace had saved them and lived with ease. Death was not happy. He couldn't do anything he looked at Roger "your fault." As he stomped out of Hogwarts. "We will be back later and see what happens." He said laughing. 'I will have Ace if it is the last thing I do.'

A/N: Sorry for the late update… Many things will be changing after this chapter… It took a bit but I needed to get to this point.

A thank you to all who sent me get well wishes. For me to get better from my car accident. I will say I am very lucky to be alive right now. My spine is messed up and left shoulder they still don't know what is wrong. But I am lucky because I had to have a tooth fixed and the dentist messed up and killed my nerve. Because of my pain killers I am taking because of the car accident. I didn't notice the pain. And because I wanted to go to Naka-Kon an anime con in KC I was off my meds incase I needed to drive. And because of that noticed the pain in my mouth. So went to the dentist to set an appointment. One of the nurse looked and said I needed to be seen then and there. My nerve was completely dead and decaying (so gross). If I hadn't gotten off my meds for that weekend I wouldn't known it hurt. So I had needed to get a root canal. And gotten an infection it would have gotten in my blood stream in a couple more days and killed me. So I am very lucky. But was able to finish this chapter so I am happy. I like to thank TheBlackSeaReaper
