Chapter 20:

After four movies, five make-out sessions, and thirty calls from Edward and Bella, Jacob and I were cuddled together on the couch- my ear resting above his heart and his chin on the top of my head. We were watching yet another movie, and were waiting on the four pizzas we'd ordered about fifteen minutes ago.

Jacob's phone started ringing from it's place on the coffee table. We both groaned, and I buried my face in his chest.

"Make them stop!" I whined.

"I wish I could," he mumbled and reached to grab his phone. "Shit. It's no them."

"Who is it then?"

"Sam." he answered, and tapped 'accept' on his phone. "What's up, Sam?"

I couldn't hear the guy on the other line.

"He hasn't showed up here, yet… I don't think he's looking for revenge or anything… If he was, he'd have showed his face before you guys caught hi-" Jake cut himself off and looked down at me. "Caught onto him." he amended weakly, and listened for a little while. "Well, Edward already said that she's not going tomorrow, so…"

"What?" I asked quietly.

He ignored me. "I can bring her there in the morning." he finished. "Drop her at your house? Emily or someone will be there, right? … Okay, then meet you where?"

My eyebrows rose.

"Okay. Got it. Thanks, Sam." He hung up.

"So… What are you going to do with me tomorrow?"

He smiled shyly. "Around noon tomorrow, I have to go do something with Sam. So, I'll take you to their house- you met his wife, Emily, at that dinner last week- and then I'll pick you up around two, we'll go cliff diving, and, tomorrow night, I'll take out to eat somewhere."

I cocked my eyebrows again. "You know… That doesn't sound like a bad idea. But, I do have a question… What is cliff diving, exactly?"

He laughed. "Exactly like it sounds. You dive or jump off cliffs."

"Ohhh…. Is it safe?

He laughed again, only louder. "You really think that I would let you do something dangerous?"

"You let Mom do it." I said, without thinking.

We both realized what I'd said as soon as it came out of my mouth. "Sorry. I don't know where that came from…" I laughed softly.

Jacob's eyes were wide.

I sat up slowly and hesitated, casting glances to and away from him. "Did you? You know… Take her cliff diving?"

Jacob snapped out of whatever he was in. "Yeah…" He cleared his throat. "Yeah, I did. Well… Sorta… I was going to, but then she decided she couldn't wait anymore and went without me."

"Did she get hurt?" I mean, there had to be a reason as to why I said it like that… right? Especially after he'd asked if I thought he'd let be do something dangerous.

"Yes. But… She's okay now. More than okay, actually. It was an idiotic move on her part, and that was the only reason she got hurt. I'd told her to wait until I could go with her. She was a first timer and so going alone wasn't an option. Plus, there was a storm coming in, so the water was choppy, rough. But… she ignored me- like always. She's stubborn- like you." he smirked.

I hesitated again. "Am I… Am I like her? My mother?"

"More than you know. But you look more like your father- minus the eyes. You have her eyes."

"Really?"

"Yes." He pulled me back into his embrace. "You have no idea what we all went through when you disappeared, Nessie. Nothing was worse than no knowing where you were… What happened… Why it happened…" He shook his head.

"You have those answers, now, though… Right?" I asked. My voice didn't sound like my own. It sounded like a child- a scared little kid.

Jake nodded. "Some. Not all, but most." he allowed.

"Maybe I can try to help… What do you wanna know?"

"You were found in Chicago, right?" he asked, after a few moments' pause.

I nodded. "Yep."

"Did they try to find us?"

I nodded again, slowly. "They did. They sent my picture to every police station in the country. After nobody responded, I went into foster care."

"We never got a picture. We would know… Bella's father, Charlie, is Chief of Police here in Forks."

"Seriously?"

He nodded. "Yes. He's been Chief for almost ten years."

"And he never got a picture?"

"No. Because, believe me, had he, we would've gotten you back way sooner than this."

"I believe you."

Jacob brushed my hair back gently.

"Jake?"

"Mm-hmm?"

"If I'm seven, how old does that make you?"

He laughed. "Umm… I'm twenty-three."

"So… You were… Sixteen, when I was born?"

He nodded and smiled down at me. "Yep. You were kind of a surprise. Your parents were on their honeymoon when your mom found out she was pregnant with you."

"You're lying!"

He shook his head and chuckled. "I'm not. Your mom called Carlisle to get his opinion about two weeks into their honeymoon."

"Yeah. They're close to Carlisle." he chuckled nervously.

"Tell me more stories, please."

He laughed again, and started to reply when the doorbell interrupted him. "Let me get you fed, then I'll tell you anything."

A/N: Sorry for the long wait and short chapter! I had a little (A LOT) of writers block with this chapter, but I think it came out better than what it could've been- just not the best. Let me know how you liked it and which name for the sequel you like best!

All mistakes belong to me! Sorry about that!
Again, please review!

Thanks for reading!

Laters,
