The various tones in which Carly calls Sam by her name

Chapter 11: Sam (hysterical)

Carly was on the verge of a nervous breakdown. Sam was gone. Carly was devastated. She couldn't understand why. She didn't want to believe it. Things were going so well between them. She even went to the diner they were suppose to have a special dinner at the next day only to be stood up. Her phone calls went unanswered and it broke her heart. Her sadness soon made way for her anger. She couldn't find Sam anywhere so she resorted to destroying everything Sam had given to her. A t-shirt. Necklace. She'd even thrown the iCarly remote out the 8th floor window. Carly spent the next few days locked in her room only coming out to eat. She vaguely remember Spencer coming in to check on her. The days and nights seemed to blend together and she was losing time. One minute she was in her room crying the next thing she knew she was staring at a taco truck wishing they were together. She was standing outside in front of a casket unsure of how she got there. She looked to the sea of family and friends beside her searching for familiar blue eyes. She found none. The tears started and she tried to blink away the memories that began flooding her mind. She tentatively looked down and saw daisies. She pushed them aside and saw the mahogany wood. Her mind told her who was inside but she didn't believe it. Couldn't believe it.

'Carly?'

That voice. She turned and saw the blue eyes she longed for and smiled through the tears. She ran over to Sam who was just walking into the cemetery and hugged her tightly. Her mind still wasn't fully processing what was going on. 'I thought you were . . . . . What are we doing here? Am I dreaming?'

'Carly I'm so sorry.'

Carly took a step back and examined her. She looked like her but it wasn't her. Her hair was straight and in a ponytail and she was wearing a dress. It was Melanie. She turned back to look at the tombstone that read: Samantha 'Sam' Puckett April 17, 1994 - August 30, 2014

The walls Carly had built up surrounding Sam's death came crumbing down. 'Saaaaaaaaaaammmmmm,' she screamed before returning to the casket and trying to open it. Spencer and Melanie grabbed her and held her as she cried in their arms. Spencer took her home. Melanie came along and stayed with her. Melanie knew she should have left. She knew Carly was so traumatized about her sister's death just as she was. She stayed at the Shay house and tried to help Carly cope the best she could. She was there for three weeks before heading back to school.

A month later

Melanie was on another flight to Seattle to attend the funeral of her other sister Carly Shay who took her own life to be with the one she loved.

End.
