A/N: I got this idea from JabberJayHeart after seeing him sort of finish his months discontinued SYOTs, so I decided I should do that too. (Sorry Corey I always steal your ideas :/). I will not be doing this for Pitfalls since I deleted that story and since it was barely started.
This is basically a rough idea of how the games would have ended, obviously there might have been some changes but this was what I had planned out before I stopped writing it. Enjoy!
Day Four
Goran Pavlov, District Nine- Placed 24th
Goran and Arden were walking when Goran's ankle was snagged by a sharp cuff of metal. He screamed out in pain, trying to free himself, but couldn't. He yelled at Arden to leave with the kids but he refused. Goran tried again, screaming at Arden to grow up and live. He couldn't stand the thought that all four of them would die here, so early. Eventually, he passed out from the amount of blood he lost through his wound and when Cosmic finally came running after her trap had proved successful, Goran was already nearly dead.
Avalyn, District One- Placed 23rd
As soon as Goran's cannon came, it was only seconds before the Gamemakers disposed of the little tribute. An arrow shot out from a tree, hitting her in the neck and killing her instantly.
Arden Quaid, District Five- Placed 22nd
Arden refused to leave his friend. He didn't care that it was probably the right thing to do, didn't care that he would suffer for it more than likely. When Cosmic came, Arden had been chasing after Taitus who had run into a bush upon hearing her approach. Arden came back to find Goran with a slice across his neck and Avalyn dead a few feet away. He screamed out and ran at Cosmic, but it was never going to be his fight to win. She easily caught his charge and put a knife through his stomach, leaving him to bleed out with the remains of his alliance members.
Taitus, District One- Placed 21st
The young boy was distraught, crying as he watched his protector fall to the ground with blood pouring from his chest. The little one couldn't understand what was happening, but screamed all the same. Just as with Avalyn, as soon as Arden's cannon sounded, an arrow shot out from a tree and killed him instantly.
Day Five
Erin Callahan, District Nine- Placed 20th
After days of being separated from her alliance, Erin realized that they were likely not looking for her. Ashidel and Amita had always been so close, and Erin's only friendship had been with Briar who was long dead by now. She wandered around the arena without an idea of where she was going, splitting any food she could come up with with Tread. Erin was so lost in her own thoughts that she didn't even hear the footsteps as they neared her. Unfortunately for her, Erin was dead before she even realized that she had walked into the hidden Career camp. Cicero was the one see her first, pinning her to a tree with his spear as she starred at him blankly. Erin didn't even scream when it happened, she had given up just as her alliance had given up on her.
Tread, District Eleven- Placed 19th
Tread had not entered the clearing with Erin, sensing in his young mind that something was wrong. He didn't understand why Erin wasn't happy anymore, he had tried his best to cheer her up but he was tired. They hadn't slept all day. Poison was released through his tracker seconds after Erin died and he simply went to sleep and never woke up.
Kiera Wentz, District Two- Placed 18th
After Erin infiltrated their camp, Kiera was convinced that there was an ambush coming. The girl had been too calm, she argued with Cicero. They decided to move camp and packed up, on the move minutes later. It was a growl that finally filled the silence between them, and the pair split off. The giant black cats chased Kiera first, her screams egging them on. As one pounced on her and the others took to their fresh meal, Kiera cried out for Cicero but couldn't see him anywhere. What she didn't know was that Cicero was hidden just fifteen feet up, crouched in a tree and watching his ally being eaten alive.
Livena, District Three- Placed 17th
The poor girl didn't know what was going on. She was scared of Jetta, the girl that had once protected her with her life. Something had changed in her, but Livena couldn't have known that. The little one cried day in and day out, adding to Jetta's psychosis. Eventually something inside Jetta that she couldn't ignore told her that Livena was unhappy. Jetta made a sloppy stab into the child's stomach and even amidst her crying Jetta managed to convince herself that Livena would be happier when she was out of the Capitol's reach.
Day Six
Maynor Richman, District Four- Placed 16th
Maynor and Fleur were siphoning water out of the river when it happened. Suddenly there were three of them- the Career tributes from One and the boy from Two- and they surrounded the pair. Maynor managed to push Fleur across the bridge they'd been sitting by, distracting the Careers long enough for her to get across. Even after one of Aquila's knives missed his throat and landed in his shoulder, he managed to cut the ropes holding up the bridge and letting Fleur and Burg be safe. He died just seconds after that from a second knife that, this time, did not miss its target.
Burg, District Eight- Placed 15th
Fleur managed to get them both across the bridge after Maynor's heroic sacrifice, but she knew that the rules would get to Burg soon enough. Fleur screamed out for the Capitol to be merciful and let the poor boy live, but of course they didn't listen. Burg's eyes closed and his cannon sounded just seconds after Maynor's, poison taking him quietly from the arena.
Sil, District Five- Placed 14th
On the night of the sixth day, Jetta snuck into the District Seven camp. She had saved Livena from this terrible place and she wouldn't rest until all the little ones were safe. Before either of them woke up, she had Sil's throat cut wide open. The little redhead's thumb in her mouth and her face the picture of serenity.
Talon, District Nine- Placed 13th
He was the only one that woke up when the intruder made her way into their camp, but for some reason he did not cry. He did not feel afraid. The little boy simply stared up at the sky, his arms crossed over his chest. Jetta got to him next, giving him a death that mimicked Sil's exactly. Jetta snuck back out of their camp without waking the District Seven pair. The children's cannons sounded a minute later, so close together that they were almost indistinguishable.
Day Seven
Fleur Aisley, District Eleven- Placed 12th
Fleur was distraught after the deaths of both her alliance members. She sat in between two willow trees all that night, only a hundred feet or so from the spot where she cradled Burg's limp body. She couldn't stop crying, her sobs able to be heard from a distance. The Careers found her that morning, smirking at the fact that she hadn't even bothered to move away from where they had seen her last. Fleur didn't even flinch as Aquila stepped forward. She hoped that Maynor knew how sorry she was that his death had been for nothing, but she just didn't have the strength to keep fighting.
Ashidel Heprin, District Seven- Placed 11th
Amita was the first to wake up. She was inconsolable, seeing the two little bodies coated in blood and still just a couple feet away from where she had slept. Ashidel woke up to her crying and tried to hold her, but she pushed him away. She ran down to the river, kneeling down beside the water and sobbing into her hands. Ashidel chased after her, but she was quicker than he was and he couldn't find her. He wandered into a cave after hearing some noise inside it, hoping that it was his district partner. By the time he found Amita, he was covered in sharp marks and tears from the bats that he had disturbed. Amita couldn't do anything, but ran towards him and shooed the bats away from him. By this time, his body was nothing but torn shreds of skin clinging to bone and she was too busy trying to put him back together to hear his cannon.
Jetta Willis, District Six- Placed 10th
Jetta was so far gone. She was nothing like the girl who had left District Six. She couldn't think straight, maybe from lack of sleep or trauma or a mixture of both. She had taken on a mission to save the children, and it was going so well. Until she snuck into the main Career camp. Amstel was on guard that night, but Jetta didn't even see him. Not when he stood from his post. Not when he unsheathed his sword. No, not until his sword was already sticking out of her chest and by then it was too late for her to run.
Day Eight
Amita Spruceford, District Seven- Placed 9th
After spending hours trying to fix the multitude of wounds on Ashidel's corpse, she finally gave up. Amita didn't know what to do, Ashidel had been her protector and her friend and now he was gone. The image of each of her allies flashed through her mind on replay. Briar's trust and the fall, abandoning Erin, finding Sil and Talon murdered in their sleep, and finally the shredded remain of her district partner. It was all too much for her, but she wanted to keep going for them despite the guilt. It was Kilin that found her, having strayed away from Amstel and Aquila early that morning. As Amita stared up at him she knew she had no chance, so she ran. Kilin caught up to her after just a few steps, shoving his sword through her neck as he covered Tinder's eyes.
Day Nine
Amstel Hafelin, District One- Placed 8th
Amstel woke up to find Kilin gone and his mind was made up. He wouldn't stay with Aquila, he couldn't. Not after what she had done. He was only about fifty feet out of their clearing when he ran into Cicero, who had planned to set up an ambush that day. Amstel saw him and was reminded all over again that Kiera had taken him over himself, and it infuriated him. He lashed at Cicero blindly, but he couldn't match Cicero's calm blocks. Amstel managed to get a thin slash across his forehead, but it was Cicero who finally ended the match with a quick, deep slash that went halfway through his neck. Amstel's cannon went off before he even hit the ground.
Alik, District Five- Placed 7th
Alik was still back at camp when Amstel left. It had not even occurred to the Career to take the young boy, but Alik didn't realize it. He was still sleeping when the spike came out of the earth below him, impaling him straight through the heart and killing him instantly.
Cosmic McKee, District Three- Placed 6th
Cosmic had been close by when the fight broke out between the two Careers. She was over there by the time Amstel had fallen, and the confidence that she had acquired over the past few days got the better of her. She had killed so many more tributes than she should have. Some more by pure luck than anything else, but it didn't matter to her. When she attacked Cicero, seconds after Amstel's cannon sounded, the fight only lasted about a minute. By the time she realized that she wasn't good enough to take on a Career it was already far too late.
Caia, District Four- Placed 5th
Caia was hiding in the tree where Cosmic had left her after hearing the Career fight. It was supposed to keep her safe, but that didn't matter much after Cosmic's cannon sound. The tree branch she was perched on simply ceased to exist and the young girl fell. She hit the ground with enough force to break her neck with a sickening snap.
Day Ten- Finale
Aquila Titurius, District One- Placed 4th
Aquila and Kilin were the first to reach the Cornucopia for the finale after hearing the announcement that promised them a feast. Kilin saw Aquila first, and he couldn't help himself. He ran at her with such force that he tackled both of them to the ground. Not even thinking to get out his weapon, he came at her with all the power he could put into his fists. She managed to block several punches, slicing his arm badly with her knife as soon as she was able to get it out from her belt. It didn't take long for Kilin to wrestle it out of her hands, and she didn't last much longer once he did. He shoved the knife through her forehead, freed it, and forced it through her heart for good measure. A military style execution that seemed a fitting end for the Career leader.
Kilin Shicts, District Two- Placed 3rd
So busy with his attack on the former Career leader, Kilin didn't even hear Cicero approaching. That was what had distracted Aquila and allowed him to kill her so easily, but Kilin didn't know that. He was on his feet for only a few seconds, staring down at the girl he had once counted as a friend, when Cicero unsheathed his weapon and put it through his back from behind. It was almost ironic, Kilin couldn't help but think as the pain began to fade and sank to the ground, that he had never noticed Cicero before now.
Tinder, District Seven- Placed 2nd
Tinder was hidden away in a sea of bushes, quietly singing to herself as she waited for Kilin to return. She flinched as the cannons came, but did not cry like she used to. She had gotten almost used to the sound, having heard it so much. A branch reached out from the bushes beside her and wrapped around her throat. Her eyes got wide as breathing became harder and harder, trying to scream for Kilin to come back. Suddenly the branch snapped to one side and released the girl, who fell to the ground with her neck twisted at a lethal angle. The arena shook with its final cannon.
Cicero Lovett, Capitol- Victor
Cicero's eyes filled with tears as he heard the last cannon sound. He knew it was one of the children, his guess was Kilin's little girl, and he couldn't stand the thought of it. He hadn't saved his own little one from Aquila, and now he was just as bad as she was. He sank to the ground and closed his eyes, the announcer's words coming slowly as if Cicero was underwater.
"Ladies and gentlemen, I am proud to present to you the Victor of the Fourth Quarter Quell! Cicero Lovett of our beautiful Capitol!"
A/N: Yeah. Cicero was my Victor as of when I stopped writing. I loved him and still do even writing this months later. It is possible it might have changed but I honestly doubt it. Hope you're all okay with this ending, I am pretty happy with how it turned out. Now I can continue with the rest of my stories.
Side A/N: I am still accepting submissions for Devils and Dust until January 14th so submit if you'd like to!
