Chapter 22

*crawls out of the cellar* U-Uhm….hi? ^^" Hehe… okay this time I really ran out of excuses… I am sorry! Please forgive me for my absence. Well, thank you very much for the reviews :) They really help me with this story! So, I present you the next chapter~

Now Naruto just felt like a jerk. Lying to his wife? Really? Had he really sunk that low? But he didn't want her to worry unnecessarily. Anything was better than telling her he would be meeting up with Hinata.

Sakura just grinned and grasped his hand. "No worries. Just concentrate on your job, okay?" Naruto smiled gratefully and they started eating lunch together.

"So please, don't wait for me, okay honey?" Naruto told Sakura while he was wearing his shoes. Sakura just shrugged and crossed her arms. "I'll try." She smiled and watched him looking for his keys. Sakura giggled and held them in front of his face. "You put them on the desk before putting on your shoes." Naruto nervously scratched the back of his head, before taking them from her. "Hehe thanks. I guess I am a bit insecure about this business meeting…" Sakura sighed. "Naruto. You got Gaara Sabakuno to sign the contract. I am sure that you can convince a business man, then…"

Instantly Naruto felt guilty and just wanted to spill everything, but the fear of losing the love of his life made him hold back in the last second. "Yeah… yeah you're right. I'll just concentrate on this meeting now. Goodbye and I love you." Naruto bent down to press a soft sweet kiss on her lips. Sakura sighed into it and kissed him back for some seconds before breaking the kiss.

"Come on. Leave before you make your client wait." Naruto winked at her before following Sebastian out the door.

Running her hands through her hair, Sakura walked to the living room and turned on the TV, zipping through the channels trying to find an amusing sitcom. She placed her head on her fist and thought about hers and Naruto's current situation. About his parents, about Sasuke, about Hinata… about them. It really surprised her that his parents were suddenly so… willing and accepting. A change of mind so fast and without anything to trigger it? Well, she wasn't one to think pessimistic, but there was just something about this while situation…-

Her thread of thoughts was abruptly stopped by the bell. Misaki, the youngest maid, opened the doors to the living room and told her that someone had announced their present and wanted to speak to her. At first, Sakura couldn't really understand. Someone had requested her presence? Barely anybody knew she even lived at the Namikaze Jr. residence! She quickly stood up and nodded at Misaki to let the visitor in.

You could say that she was rather surprised to see Kushina Uzumaki standing there with a huge smile.

"So, you really just wanted to go shopping?"

"Oh come on, what is so wrong in spending some time with my daughter-in-law?" Kushina wrapped an arm around Sakura's shoulders and drew her nearer. "Well, n-nothing…" Kushina smirked. "So you see! I just wanted us Namikaze women to spend some quality time together. How about we go get a bite somewhere before shopping the stores empty, huh?" With that she softly elbowed Sakura by the side.

Sakura smiled softly. Yes. Maybe it was actually a good thing for them to spend time together. Then she could get to know Kushina better and to be honest, that is exactly what she wanted. That's why Sakura nodded and grinned. "Yes, why not?"

Kushina just smirked without replying. 'Perfect. Now let us just casually walk to a certain restaurant.'

"Welcome to Ristorante Firenze. I believe you have reserved a table?" The waiter took his jacket.

"Yes I have. Under the name Naruto U. a table for two." The waiter went to check and after nodding he showed Naruto the way.

Hinata was already there sitting at the table and looking beautiful – as always. But Naruto did not spare her long dark-blue dress a glance. No, he just sat down opposite her.

"So. What do you really want? You do realize that I have my wife waiting at home?" Naruto told her giving her an annoyed gaze. Hinata had to swallow an angry comment. He just arrived and already they were talking about his wife!

"Yes… And I really appreciate your… sacrifice." She literally had to spit the last word out. But she decided not to dwell on his wife. "So, how was your day?" A desperate attempt to start a conversation.

Naruto didn't want to make things awkward. "It was fine, I guess. What about you? How are you?" Hinata gave him a pretty smile and he smiled right back.

The waiter came and took their order before leaving them alone again. They were deeply in a conversation and an outsider could think that Naruto was having fun. Well, okay maybe he was having fun, but he was only doing this for the sake of Hinata leaving them alone.

"Seriously? Everything landed on you?" Naruto laughed. "Yeah! She just puked her entire lunch on my top. I was so grossed out!" Hinata giggled. "Well, I can imagine." Naruto stopped laughing, but was still smiling.

"Where are we going?" Sakura asked Kushina. They had passed several restaurants already and to be honest she was hungry. "No worries, we are here." Kushina smirked without letting the other woman see and they casually went inside.

"A table for two, please." Kushina told the waiter that stood at the entrance. The man nodded and started guiding them through the beautiful restaurant. With an awestruck expression on her face, Sakura looked around and her eyes stopped on a couple. Her mouth dropped open.

Naruto here with Hinata? Didn't he say he was meeting up with a business partner?

Sakura stopped dead in her tracks and could only stare at both of them who seemed to be having a lot of fun. Hinata was laughing and put her hand on Naruto's arm and he let her like it was a natural gesture between them.

Kushina, who noticed that Sakura was not following her anymore, turned around and saw how the other stopped dead in her tracks and was staring at her son and Hinata. She smirked knowingly and went to the young woman.

"Sakura? Is everything okay? What are you staring at?" Sakura could only point at Naruto and Hinata with a finger and Kushina faked a gasp. "Oh my, what are they doing here?" Sakura just shook her head and didn't notice how tears were building up in her eyes.

"So… I'll have to leave soon Hinata. It was nice having dinner with you, but Sakura must be at home waiting." Immediately Hinata frowned. Why was he always bringing up his wife? They were having such a good time!

"Ahh, yes I know… But only under one condition!" She had seen Kushina's fiery red hair coming in, so she knew that the time had come to further the plan.

"And what would that be?" Naruto grinned. He was really starting to like Hinata. At first, he had thought she was nothing but a home-wrecker, but she is really a nice girl.

"I want a kiss." Scratch that.

"What?!" His anger started blazing and his eyes narrowed. "You heard right…" Hinata smiled and ran her fingers up his arm. "I get it. You love your wife so much", she said in a mocking voice, "and you want me to leave you guys alone. Fine, but as an exchange I just want once kiss! Then I promise to never disturb you again. She doesn't even have to know of this." She waved her finger in between the both of them.

"Do you seriously think I would cheat on the woman I love?" He tried his best not to raise his voice, so he greeted his teeth.
"It is either that, or I will keep bugging you. For how long do you think Sakura is going to withstand this? Sakura is clearly suffering, but she doesn't want to say anything because she is such a good housewife. If you love her as much as you claim you do, you would jump at this chance."

Naruto was ready to argue, when he let the thought sink in. In a way, it was true. He noticed Sakura's tears last night, but he felt so guilty that he acted like he didn't notice. He could only put his arms around her and hold her tight. His heart ached when he thought about how much Sakura was hurt just because of him.

"Hello?"

His eyes moved back to the dark-haired beauty in front of him and he sighed deeply. He bit his lip and gave her one last look before sighing. "Just one kiss, right? And Sakura will never know? And you will leave us alone?" Hinata nodded and rolled her eyes.

He really did not want to do this. But he bent over and kissed her softly on her lips. Three gasps could be heard. One from Hinata who had not expected him to kiss her suddenly like that. The other from Sakura who could not believe what she was seeing and the third from Kushina who had not actually thought, Hinata would be able to persuade Naruto to kiss her. But all the better…

She looked at Sakura and saw the poor girl shivering and tears rolling down her face. "Aw, dear! I am so sorry…" She put one arm around Sakura, but she wriggled out of Kushina's arms and ran out of the restaurant without the other two noticing.

She knew it! She had known that something was weird between Naruto and Hinata and now she had seen the proof. Kissing her! Had everything only been a show? She called Sebastian to pick her up and sat down at an empty bus-stop. She didn't get it! Why had he lied to her about meeting up with Hinata? Well, that was obvious… But why hadn't he just told her that he wasn't interested but led her on? Let her believe that the both of them could actually spend a lifetime together…

And the way he kissed her… He had not even seemed repulsed! Is this what they had been doing every late night at the office? No, Sakura could not take it any longer.

When Sebastian arrived, she went in and told him to bring her to the mansion on the fastest route. Without a single question the man drove off, but he did give her a concerned look over the mirror. She just gazed out the window and tried to dry her tears but they were coming without letup and after a while she just gave up.

"We are here."

"Thank you Sebastian. Could you please send a girl to the bedroom to help me pack my stuff?" "Miss?" Sebastian looked at her with a shocked expression.

"Please Sebastian!" He reluctantly nodded and she gave him a small smile before running up the stairs to pack her things.

It took her and the maid only fifteen minutes to arrange all of her belongings and when they were gone, the maid excused herself to call a taxi for Sakura. The pink haired girl stood at the door and looked around the room again. Wiping off some tears, she closed the door and went down to the waiting taxi.

Stretching his limbs, Naruto went out the restaurant and looked for where Sebastian was, since he said he was going to pick him up. Scratching the back of his neck, he wondered where the man was, because he usually wasn't that late. He wondered if it had been a good idea to kiss Hinata – he didn't want to give the girl ideas.

He had felt nothing when he kissed her. No sparks, nada. But when he kissed Sakura, it was a whole new experience! It was like he finally found the reason why it had never worked out with other women before and Sakura was the one for him. He never wanted to let her go.

He smiled to himself, because he couldn't wait to tell her that Hinata wouldn't be bugging them for any longer. Finally Sebastian arrived and Naruto wanted to ask him why he was late, when he noticed a scowl on the man's usually passive face. "Sebastian? Is everything alright?" If Naruto had not known better, he would have said that Sebastian was glaring at him, but he couldn't right…?

"Nothing… It is just that Miss Uzumaki packed her bags and left." Naruto's mouth fell open. "What? What do you mean? Sakura is gone?" Sebastian nodded and frowned. "She called me to pick her up and then she packed her bags and left. Should I drive you home?" Naruto shook his head and quickly took out his phone to call his wife.

"Why is she not picking up?! Damnit!" Naruto shouted and the people that had been walking around him gave him a funny look. "Sebastian! Take me to Sakura's apartment!" Sebastian nodded and when Naruto was seated in the car, he drove off at high speed.

Well, I guess this means trouble in paradise, huh? ^^" I beg you guys not to kill me, please! And yes, I know, I made Hinata seem like a bad person, but just chillax and wait!
