Mending An Icy Break
- Chapter 9 -

Elsa was ready for this kiss this time.

She was prepared for the warmth and fullness of Anna's lips on her own, could handle – and thus was not be overwhelmed by – Anna's summery sweet scent, and her body didn't quiver from the physical contact of her younger sister's to her own.

She had been ready to handle this kiss, she did, after all, initiate it. Whether she'd intended to or not.

What she was not prepared for was the sudden movement of her sister's body against her own – she had not factored that into the equation. What so ever.

She could handle the soft breathy sounds that the redhead was making, and she was even able to compose herself following a very arousing mewl that had escaped her sister's slightly parted lips, but when Anna's left leg accidentally brushed along the seam between her own tightly clamped thighs Elsa felt her palms tingle.

The sudden cold chill ran from the Queen's skin over Anna's nightgown, frost crackling to life and steadily coating the Princess' side. Anna mewled again, this time out of discomfort from the unexpected iciness, which caused her to twist and squirm, resulting in her leg repeatedly brushing Elsa's own legs several times.

Then the kiss broke, leaving both kiss swollen lips parted and needy gulps of air being taken in by both girls. Anna's breath, sweet as it was, could be seen in the low temperature of the room. Elsa watched in wondrous awe as it slowly spilled out from between Anna's rosy lips, ghosting out in puffs of translucent steam, which would dissipate as quickly as it would appear.

It was fascinating, to say the least.

Elsa did not produce visible breath in the cold, she never had; she also spent a great deal of time alone, especially when her powers went awry and turned the environment around her frigid. She had the vaguest memories of she and Anna, ages eight and five respectively, and the way Anna's breath would waft out when she spoke – more like rambled, but Elsa thought fondly of it – and the way it'd create a cloud of semitransparent smoke.

This was a fond memory she associated with seeing someone's breath in the cold.

But she also remembered her own parents, when they would visit her on days her powers were least controlled, and how their breath would escape past their chattering teeth, as they hugged themselves to subdue their shivering. She knew, in the back of her mind, that her parents were attempting to hide their discomfort, a discomfort she was causing.

This was a rather unsavory memory.

"E-Elsa?" The hesitant voice beside her snapped the Queen out of deep thought. It was then icy blue eyes fixated on the reddened cheeks of her beloved sister; Anna, too, was shivering under the cold air of the room (and the frost still present along the side of her nightgown), her teeth chattering lightly while she stared worriedly, aquamarine eyes filled with concern. "Are you okay…? You look…deep in thought."

"I–…I'm sorry," Elsa managed, her voice barely above a whisper. "You look cold..." Anna immediately flashed her sister the widest smile she could muster.

"Not too cold," She lied, trying to save face, "but it could stand to be a little warmer in here…" Elsa breathed, giving a solemn nod of her head and a wave of her hand. The temperature of the room slowly returned to normal, and the layer of verglas that had spread over Anna's nightgown melted away without a trace.

"Better?" The blonde asked, her eyes locking with those oceans of summery teal. The redhead smiled.

"Mhmm," She hummed, suddenly scooting closer to Elsa, pressing her body flush against her sister's. Elsa tried her very best not to stiffen from the unexpected closeness, but she had half expected Anna to run, though neither seemed at all interested in fleeing at the moment. "I…really love you Elsa, you know that right? I don't care that you sometimes ice over my clothes and make the room cold." The Princess wormed her way closed, squirming (deliciously, the Queen mused) until their torsos were practically glued together, as she reached for Elsa's wrist.

"A-Anna, I –" The Queen's pale cheeks ignited into a burning pink; she could feel every feminine curve and swell of her sister's body, even through the layers of fabric, and the way Anna shifted made the mounds of her breasts brush Elsa's own oh so wonderfully. "– wh-what are you doing?" The question came apprehensively from the Queen, her eyes widening as Anna raised her hand up, inspecting her palm.

"When you do the magic, do you feel it here? It always comes from your hands…" Anna mused allowed following her question, raising her free hand to delicately trace her index finger over Elsa's palm, an action which made the Queen shudder. Anna took notice and quickly drew her hand back, but did not let go of Elsa's wrist. "Sorry, your hands must be, like, super sensitive, huh?"

Elsa couldn't help but laugh, albeit nervously. Her fingers twitched and she felt her palm giving that familiar tingle again. No one ever touched her hands, not really, and certainly not this close in proximity to themselves.

"I do…feel it," Elsa admitted softly, "it's a bit hard to explain, but I can feel it if I concentrate. It's a subtle feeling, though, so if I'm not paying attention I might not notice my powers working of their own accord." Anna gave a soft hum, a nod, and kept her eyes trained on her sister's hand. She always did have a childlike fascination with Elsa's magic.

"It's so cool to have powers," Came Anna's voice suddenly, "I mean, literally cool in your case, but in general too. I hate that you thought you were a monster for so long because of them…" The redhead's voice trailed off, a slightly glazed watery look apparent in her eyes. "I think you're extraordinary Elsa, and I…I know it's a lot to ask, but please don't worry about your powers around me, okay?"

The Queen was completely taken aback by all this. She was sure she'd have fainted at such a confession six months ago, but here it felt honest and sweet. Her heart swelled, while beating relentlessly against her ribcage, and she felt the blush on her cheeks creep down her neck. Her heart nearly burst when Anna continued.

"I want you to be completely relaxed around me, no worrying," Suddenly, without warning, Anna leaned in and pressed the sweetest most gentle of kisses to Elsa's palm, which caused the Queen to squeak in surprise and Anna's lips to frost ever so slightly. Immediately, Elsa tried to wrench her wrist out of Anna's grasp, but she underestimated how strong her sister was. Instead a very unbefitting whine left the Queen, as she shrank back and bit her lower lip to stifle any more repugnant sounds.

"A-Anna…"

"Shh," Her sister soothed, drawing back and kissing again, not minding the rime on her lips, "it's alright Elsa, see? I'm not afraid, I don't mind, your powers are a part of you and I love them. I always have." The Queen felt the familiar sting of tears welling up in the corners of her eyes, but she fought back the urge to cry. "I mean it, I want you to let me in, completely…" Another kiss, this time to the Queen's index finger; "I love you Elsa, so much, please don't shut me out again." A second kiss, to the blonde's middle finger, then her ring finger, and finally her pinky; "I don't think I could take it again," A small sniffle left the Princess, "I need you. And you need me, so please, don't be afraid. I love you, so much."

The heartfelt sincerity of the confession was nearly overwhelming. Elsa felt herself quivering lamely, eyes wide and slightly fearful, with tears now falling freely down her cheeks. When Anna stared back, locking their gaze, she softened a bit. She even relented when Anna tugged on her wrist, drawing her hand closer.

"I swear you'll be okay Elsa, with me, I promise." Anna cooed sweetly, placing her sister's open palm over her chest, smiling earnestly to her older sister. "It's just you and me." That was more than Elsa could take; she lunged forward, crashing her lips desperately into Anna's, with a messy chaste kiss. Anna squeaked, then relaxed, and pressed back into the kiss needily.

The kiss was passionate, but also tentative, neither girl wanting to push for more than the other was currently giving. The hand that Anna had placed over her chest gripped the fabric, tugging gently, while frost slowly froze over around the yellow lace. Anna noticed, but didn't mind, she was growing to like the feeling. The cold always reminded her of Elsa, and for so many years she never knew why.

Now she did.

"Anna…" Elsa breathed softly, their lips parted for much needed air, "I love you too." The redhead hiccupped through a teary smile, leaning back in to press a few small pecks to Elsa's lips.

"We'll stay together, always, right Elsa?"

There it was again, her sister looking to her for reassurance and comfort.

She knew at that moment, staring into her sister's watery eyes, that she could never let her go.

"I promise we'll stay together," Elsa assured, smiling, "you will stay with me." Anna breathed softly, having not realized that she had been holding it in.

"Thank you…" Anna cuddled up close, burying her face in the crook of Elsa's neck, taking in her sister's scent. There was a comfortable silence that fell between the girls. The Princess pulled back slightly and rested her head on the pillow beside Elsa's, smiling lovingly to her sister.

"You're so beautiful," Elsa cooed softly, reaching out to cup her sibling's freckled cheek, stroking it with her thumb, "you're so vibrant and stunning." Anna blushed brightly and flicked her eyes down.

"I think you're way more beautiful," The redhead replied quickly, practically tripping over her own words, "like, really…really beautiful." Elsa giggled.

"Come now, can't you accept a compliment without having to immediately return it?" She teased.

"I could," Anna stuck her tongue out playfully, "I just like telling you that you're beautiful." Elsa continued to stroke Anna`s cheek, smiling fondly.

"I'm…not sure what is going on between us, but," The Queen paused, admiring her sister, "I don't want it to stop. I want us to stay together." Anna smiled happily and pressed her forehead to Elsa's.

"I feel the same way," Anna breathed, "thank you for accepting my sleepover offer." The blonde laughed softly.

"Of course Anna, thank you for inviting me," Elsa allowed her eyes to flutter closed, breathing softly while trying to fend off sleep, "you feel so warm."

"Is that bad?" Anna asked softly, taking the opportunity to admire the pale freckles that dusted her sister's cheeks and the bridge of her nose. Elsa shook her head.

"Not at all, I rather like it," She admitted softly, stifling a yawn, "it's nice. It's different, but a good different." She smirked, opening a single eye. "And I can feel you staring while my eyes are closed." Anna jumped a bit and then laughed sheepishly.

"Sorry, sorry," She apologized, which Elsa immediately dismissed the necessity for, "I just hadn't noticed before how many freckles you have…" The redhead leaned in and flicked her gaze from one of Elsa's cheeks to the other. "You've got way more than I remembered. I like yours too, they're really soft. I can only see them up close." Elsa bit her lower lip shyly.

"I would imagine that's why most people are unaware that I have them," She commented, "you do need to be quite close to make them out." Anna gave a small nod before suddenly cupping her sister's cheeks in her hands.

"Then I guess I'm special, because I get to be so close to Queen Elsa of Arendelle that I have the privilege of seeing her majesty's beautiful freckles." Elsa laughed softly.

"I believe you're special because you are Princess of Arendelle, and my beloved sister." She cooed back sweetly. Anna huffed and threw her arm around Elsa's shoulders, pulling her sister closer to nuzzle her affectionately.

"You're really sweet when you're given the chance." Anna teased, pressing a kiss to Elsa's cheek. Elsa sighed contently and slipped her own arm around Anna's waist, pulling her sister even closer.

"We should sleep now," Elsa breathed softly, yawning again, unable to contain it, "I have quite a bit of paperwork to finish up tomorrow." Anna sighed heavily and clung to her sister's nightgown. Elsa opened her eyes slightly and caught sight of her sister's pout, which Anna was very ineffectively hiding. "And you should rest to."

"I'm not doing anything tomorrow, plus I never wake up–"

"You do have plans," Elsa quickly corrected, "you're going to be reviewing some of the paperwork with me, and I'll be teaching you a few things so that in the future you can manage some on your own." Anna shot up, eyes wide, staring down at her older sister disbelievingly.

"I'm…going to…wait, what–?" Elsa laughed.

"You're going to become my regent, and eventually I want you to rule with me." Anna stared, her mind grinding gears as it tries to process what was said. Elsa smiled warmly. "I don't have any desire to take a King right now; I feel I'd be much more comfortable ruling Arendelle with someone I trust. The kingdom would also be much faster to accept their own princess than some foreign ruler."

"You…you trust me?" Elsa giggled.

"With my life," The Queen assured, reaching up to hook her fingers behind Anna's ear, her thumb stroking the swell of her sister's cheek, "and I know you've been studying in private. I assumed you were going to try for regent, or co-ruler, at some point." The redhead blushed deeply.

"I…I actually was hoping that I could just get good enough to help you." Anna's hands twined together and she wrung them out nervously. "I know you're busy, a lot, and that's because you're doing this alone. Papa and Mama had each other, but it's just you now. It could be us, I can help, and I read that it was possible for siblings to rule together." Elsa mused for a moment.

"That is true; it is possible," The Queen nodded, "are you sure you want that?" Anna didn't even take a moment to consider her answer.

"Absolutely! If I help lighten the load then you'll have more free time. And less stress, and then we could spend more time together…"

"Oh Anna," Elsa cooed softly, "I'll do it. For you, for us," She leaned up and kissed her sister sweetly. "But for now get to sleep, it's very late."
