Kuroko spent longer than she originally intended picking out an outfit to meet up with Kagami. Sorting through all of her clothes helped her easily realize that she didn't even have that much to wear. She always wore basketball clothes and her school uniform and that was about it. Reaching the end of her closet, she found a dress her mom bought for her to wear to a wedding she ended up not attending. She hoped it would still fit and that it wasn't too...bold. She pulled her hair up before leaving her house.
Kagami leaned against the fence, awaiting Kuroko's arrival. Time seemed to pass by unbearbly long and it was causing Kagami slight turmoil. He tapped his foot and watched the clouds and sighed more times than he could count, and he soon realized his patience was thin and not helping his current situation. He wasn't mad at Kuroko, just frustrated at his current lack of something to do.
Kagami was glad that it didn't take long after for Kuroko to show up. He had never seen her in a dress before, but...he didn't mind.
"H-Hey."
"...Hello."
"S-So, uh...f-follow me," Kagami began walking towards the town. Kuroko followed close behind.
Walking along the side of the small road with only one sidewalk felt very welcoming to Kuroko. Simple, easy, small, safe. Kuroko looked at her feet as they walked. She wished she had cuter shoes.
Kuroko bumped into Kagami's back when he stopped walking and she didn't. She noticed he didn't turn around to acknowledge her prescence so she walked up to his side.
"Kagami-kun?" she said.
"Oh, sorry, Kuroko, I was just looking at the sky."
Kuroko looked at the sky, then back at Kagami. "Why?"
"Aw, don't tell me you don't appreciate a good sunset every one in a while."
Kuroko looked back at the low-hanging sun and stared intently at the multi-colored abyss of clouds and stars. Kuroko took a deep breath and looked back up at Kagami. "I guess."
Kagami chuckled and continued walking. "Let's go."
It did not take the two long to reach the center of town. One of the first stores they passed was a clothing store. Kagami stopped walking.
"Hey, uh, I don't mind either way, but...wanna get some long socks?" Kagami asked. Kuroko looked down and remembered her knees were stil injured. She looked up at Kagami and nodded.
Kagami showed Kuroko inside. The bell rang alerting employees. "Welcome!" One employee greeted.
"Hey," Kagami said back.
"Is there anything I can help you with?" she asked. Kagami nodded. "Do ya got any long socks?"
The empolyee smiled. "Right this way."
Kagami and Kuroko followed the employee to the back of the store and to a display lined with socks. "Here you are! Anything else, find me."
Kuroko began scanning the socks for some long ones. She almost couldn't decide which color to pick. She could feel Kagami stand right behind her. She quickly picked up a few pairs and showed them to Kagami.
"I don't know which color to choose," she said, looking him straight in the eye. Kagami examined to colors she had chosen.
"Well, pink isn't really your color," Kagami held one pair and put it back on the rack. "The white ones are nice but easy to dirty and the brown ones are also nice but don't match your outfit..."
"I didn't know Kagami-kun was a fashion designer."
"W-Well, I won't lie, I have a little experience...I would go with the white ones...but it's whatever."
Kuroko looked down at the white socks, then back up at Kagami. "Kagami-kun likes the white ones?"
"W-Well, yeah, I guess..."
Kuroko handed Kagami the white socks. "I want these ones." Kagami took the socks and headed to the register. He bought the socks and showed Kuroko to a bench outside of the store. "H-Here, sit down..."
Kuroko at down on the bench in front of Kagami. Kagami kneeled down, taking the socks out of the package, carefully removing Kuroko's sneakers, and putting on the white socks. Kuroko sighed unintentionaly as Kagami picked her shoes back up.
"Do you only have sneakers?" he asked. Kuroko nodded shamefully.
Kagami stood back up. "Stay here." Kuroko nodded uneasily as Kagami walked away. She began swinging her legs and wondering where he was going. She took this free time to try and appreciate the sunset as much as Kagami did.
Kagami came back not that much later with a box in his hands. He opened it to reveal a pair of black flats with a small bow on the front. He handed the box to Kuroko. "Just put your sneakers in the box," he said. "I don't mind carrying it around."
Kuroko slipped on her new shoes and stared at them intently. Kagami took the box that was now holding her sneakers from her hands. "Wanna geta bite?" Kagami asked. Kuroko looked up at him and nodded.
Kuroko continued to follow behind Kagami, adjusting herself to her new shoes. They were much lighter than sneakers, but easier to slip on or trip over. She almost tripped but fell onto Kagami's back again. She picked herself up as Kagami fidgeted his hands.
"You, uh...I-I don't think falling is...uh..." Kagami held out one of his hands, averting his eyes nervously. His face became flushed as he tried to align his words. "Y-You, um...just, uh, h-here..."
Kuroko felt her face become hot and she slowly placed her small hand in his. His hand completely engulfed hers, making her feel protected. Kagami began walking, taking Kuroko with him.
They ended up outside of Maji Burger. Kuroko's eyes lit up.
The both walked into the resteraunt. Kagami looked down at Kuroko. "Wacha want?"
Kuroko looked up at Kagami. "I want a vanilla milkshake."
"That all?" Kuroko nodded.
Kagami headed to the register as Kuroko sat down at a booth. Kagami arrived shortly after holding a tray full of burgers and one milkshake. He sat down on the opposite side of the table and handed Kuroko her milkshake and a burger.
Kagami and Kuroko ate in pleasant silence, relishing in their food and maintaining the peace. Kuroko ended up eating the burger Kagami gave her and they both finished eating around the same time. Kagami picked up the trash on the tray and threw it away, returning to the table and showing Kuroko to the door. She grabbed his hand as they walked through the parking lot.
"It's getting late...we should probably go home..." Kagami said as they walked back towards the neighborhood.
Kuroko looked at the ground nervously, hesitant to respond. "I want to...hang out...at Kagami-kun's house..."
Kuroko could feel Kagami's hand loosen then tighten around hers. "Y-Yeah..."
Kuroko followed Kagami to his house. They entered the front door. Nothing had changed since she had last been there, Kuroko noticed.
"I'll make some tea," Kagami said, heading to the kitchen. "You can look around or whatever."
Kuroko took off her new shoes and began investigating Kagami's house. It seemed like all of the bedrooms were on the second floor while everything was on the first. Kuroko walked up the stairs and into a small hallway with four doors.
The first door on the left led to the laundry room. It was small and simple, no strings attached.
The first door on the right red to a small, seemingly unused bedroom. The bed was neatly made and the room looked mostly dusted, but it was almost blantantly obvious it was not in use.
The second door on the right lead to a small bathroom, probably shared by both room, Kuroko assumed, also assuming the last remaining door was also a bedroom.
Kuroko entered the last door on the left, welcomed by a well-used room. The walls were covered in shelves lined with basketball trophies. A large bed rested center against the far wall. There was a door leading to a closet on the right.
Kuroko sat down on the bed. She found it very soft and comfortable and easy to sit on. She laid down on one side of the bed, staring at the ceiling. She felt herself blush as she contemplated her whole day. She felt sleep overcome her as she yawned loudly and closed her eyes. Her world became dark as she drifted into sleep.
