Chapter 13: Endgame

Renin stood over the mutilated remains of the Black cat. His faced showed disappointment at the lack of challenge he received battling the monster.

Renin: So that's it huh? That was beyond pathetic.

Renin turns his head in the direction of Viola and Ellen's previous battle. He smirked a bit.

Renin: Hmmph looks like that naive little girl got the job done.

Viola: (background) I WILL MURDER YOU!

Before renin could say another word he is impaled in the stomach by 3 blades or claws. Yes indeed the black cat was still alive, he was just playing possum for the time being.

Black cat: (smug) Alas you should never take you're eyes off the enemy.

Renin kicks the cat with all of his might, The force literally enough to make the top half of the cat explode. However just before the blow could make contact the cat escaped from it's host body, Now it was in it's true form a floating mass of what seemed to be demon energy.

Black cat: it seems you were right i cant defeat you... not with that body at least. However there are still plenty of vacant bodies in this forest just ripe for the taking one in particular actually. Stay right there i'll be back.

The demon suddenly disappears from sight. Though confused by his words at first renin suddenly had a horrific premonition.

Renin: He must be going after Viola!

With a great leap renin propelled himself from tree to tree. He swore he would get there before the demon did.

Meanwhile Viola and Ellen had both lost the ability to stand. So they sat down. They were chatting like two little girls would usually do.

Viola: Soooo when you started flirting with Renin did you really want him to-

Ellen: Be my boyfriend, yes.

Viola: Hmmph you're weird.

Ellen: Oh haha.

Demon: Hello girls

Viola and Ellen: Oh Hello. (Both get the picture) Oh no.

Demon: Yes. it seems you're friend Renin was quite the handful you see. He destroyed my precious vessel. Gave him what he deserved yes i did.

Viola's shoked face turns to horror.

Viola: YOU! YOU KILLED RENIN!

Demon: No. Not yet anyway. But once i take you're body as a vessel i'll make sure to take care of that.

Viola was to relived to hear that last part, but Ellen heard it clearly.

Ellen: Absolutely NOT!

These words shock the demon.

Demon: Excuse me my dear Ellen, but was it not you who ordered me to dispose of this trash.

Ellen: Yes i did but... but i was wrong. I've been nothing but pure and absolute evil to this girl but she didn't give up on me, SHE WOULDN'T! She's my only friend... So i'm ordering you to leave her alone.

Demon: (evilly) I'm sorry master but i'm afraid that you're orders were to, stop at nothing to kill the only one who poses a threat to you. Now step aside.

The demon floats over Ellen's head and makes it's way to Viola. Before it can proceed with the takeover Ellen once again gets in his way, at the very same moment Renin arrives.

Renin: HEY DEMON WE WEREN'T QUITE FINISHED DISCUSSING OUR ISSUES.

Demon: (irritated) Damn you. Get out of my way.

Ellen: Please i'm begging you leave her alone.

Demon: Please... what a thing to say to you're underling.

Without warning the demon summons many spiked tendril's. Anticipating a massacre Renin jumps from the tree he was standing on, however as he began falling the area's where the Demon had originally attacked him began to cause him severe pain. He lost his balance in the air and crashed to the ground.

Renin: Damn it.

It all seemed hopeless now as the demon zeroed in on the the horrified Ellen. Ellen simply turned to viola with a smile.

Ellen: Sorry for everything.

A loud slashing noise rang through the forest, And the thud of a body falling to the ground was heard. Renin looked on in absolute shock. There hung on the Demons tendril's was not the body of Viola... but instead Travis. He had thrown himself between Ellen and the demon and took the full brunt of the attack. He was killed immediately. No pain was felt. No words were said. In a fit of sheer irritation the demon removed Travis corpse from his Tendril and threw him next to Viola, Who's face expressed nothing but pure horror.

Viola: dad... dad please get up. PLEASE DAD WAKE UP DON'T DIE YOU'RE ALL I HAVE LEFT PLEASE DON'T DIE I LOVE YOU DON'T LEAVE ME. (begins to cry)

Demon: Foolish human. What did you expe-

The demon sentence is cut short by an Enraged Renin. Who violently bisects him with his bare hands. Though this does not kill or even phase the demon.

Demon: Is that all you've got left in the tank kid. If so then you'll never kill me.

Renin: You're a real monster you know that.

Demon: OH you're far to kind.

Viola had remained silent for a time. Then she spoke in a calm tone but her rage was clear.

Viola: Renin i order you to-

Renin: You don't even have to ask. I'm going to destroy this monster right here, right now. Anyone got a problem with that.

Ellen: Of course not.

Demon: While i would enjoy ripping you all to pieces. I'm sleepy so i think i'll take my leave now.

Renin and Ellen: WHAT!?

Demon: Yes it's been fun kids but i don't feel like playing anymore. TATA

Renin: (Enraged) YOU THINK I'M JUST GONNA LET GET AWAY WITH ALL YOU'VE DONE.

Demon vanishes

Ellen: HE can teleport.

Renin: WHY YOU DIRTY.

Ellen: Renin forget him. We have to take care of Viola first.

Renin turned to look at the unconscious Viola.

Renin: She must have passed out. I don't blame her. (looks over to Travis body) Ellen you take Viola to the cabin. I'm gonna bury her dad... i think she would want that.

Ellen simply nods. She carries Viola on her back to her home. She had only one thought in mind throught the entire walk. THIS IS MY FAULT.

It took Renin only a few minutes to to dig a big enough hole. Once that was done he placed Travis body in the hole and buried it. Once that was done. He stood there looking at the sky thinking to himself.

Renin: When people meet witch's they usually die horrific death's full of regret. This guy gunned his own daughter down because of a witch. You would think he would die with regrets... But to the very end he fought to defend what he loved. He had to have been aware of the risks... and yet and still he willing threw himself in harms way for someone he believed to be his daughter. He died believing he protected his daughter... perhaps he died happy. Listen Travis i didn't know you at all... but i can see you were a good man. And i hope you can rest easy knowing that no matter what the cost. I will protect Viola. So don't worry about her. Rest in peace.

Ellen: Viola wait!

Renin turns to see Viola heading towards him.

Renin: Sorry i failed you.

Viola: Don't be sorry, you did everything you could. Ellen don't you be sorry either it isn't you're fault Either.

Viola bends down in a prayer like position by her fathers grave.

Viola: Daddy there where a lot of things i wish i could have told you before you died. But the most important is that... I love you. You were right about the forest it can be dangerous. But i'm glad i did go. I met two wonderful people there. They've really changed my life. I'll be okay, goodbye... (cries) I'll miss you.

Viola gets up and walks away with tears streaming down her face. Renin and Ellen follow.

Ellen: I do still have a bit of magic left wanna switch bodies.

Viola: Keep it. I make this body look good.

Ellen: yea right.

Renin: Lets go little miss NAIVE.

(gets kicked in the groin by Viola)
