The Next Day

Lily awoke feeling very good and also very strange. She didn't know where she and James stood. They had kissed and talked for a while, but when they went back to the party, they hadn't talked at all. What did that mean? The entire time while Lily got ready, the girls were interrogating her on where she had went and if it was with James. Lily simply dodged all the questions saying she was tired and that she didn't have time to talk.

Lily and the girls waltzed downstairs to see the boys waiting for them. They had begun to function as a group of eight, nine when you counted Frank Longbottom. Lily ended up in the back with James like usual. James made her hang back just a little so they could talk.

"I was thinking about you all night," he smiled.

"Me too," she said, red flushing across her face.

"So..do you want to hang out later tonight? I mean, after you've done all your homework," he shrugged.

"Well..I might have to study you know. But if I have time, maybe," she replied. He nodded, looking a little defeated. They all entered the Great Hall for breakfast. Alice was asking Lily about her schedule. Lily had Defense Against the Dark Arts first. She did love that class. Lily had always been fascinated by learning how to use her magic to defend herself in tough situations.

Lily made it through the day feeling pretty good. She already had tons of homework and she wasn't sure she would be able to hang out with James. She wasn't sure if she wanted to, though. Wouldn't it be different now that they had kissed? She was more nervous around him than ever before. She decided to do her homework in the back corner of the common room, hoping that nobody would find her there. James always has his ways, though. He found her and went to sit next to her.

"Hey Lils, what are you doing?"

"My homework," she said simply, not looking up from her book.

"Yeah..I got that too but I think I'm gonna do it later," he nodded.

"Mhm," she nodded.

"Are you okay?"

"I'm not sure what you mean. I'm doing my homework," she sighed, agitated, finally looking at him.

"Fine. I guess I'll leave you alone.." he rolled his eyes, walking back over to Sirius and the other guys. They were sitting in their usual circle up near the front of the room, by the fire.

"What's her problem?" James sighed, flopping on the couch.

"Is there trouble in paradise?" Sirius laughed.

James mocked him, "'Is there trouble in paradise?' Why don't you just fuck off Sirius?"

Sirius rolled his eyes, "Just because your mad at her doesn't mean you can take it out on me." he got up and left the common room, fuming. Remus spoke up,

"Don't worry about that, Prongs. Him and Marlene got into a fight over something. She was pissed that he was talking to some girl. I'm not really sure," he shrugged. James sighed and went up to the boys dormitory.

Lily felt bad for being cold but she wasn't sure what she wanted. He was being really nice to her. Maybe she had been too much of a bitch. She sighed, shutting her book. She walked over to Remus who had just begun doing his homework.

"Hey Remus have you seen James?" she asked.

"He just went up to the dormitory," he shrugged, "He's kinda pissed. I'd be careful."

She thanked him and went up to the dormitory. She knocked on the door softly, "James? It's me, Lily."

He walked over and opened the door, "Yes?" he said, some agitation is his voice.

"...Are you mad at me?" she bit her lip nervously. He sighed walking away from the door and sitting on his bed. She closed the door and followed him.

"No. I'm not mad at you."

"Well...Good. I wasn't trying to be mean. I'm just a little stressed, you know?" she shrugged. He grabbed her hand and pulled her closer to him,

"Do you want to get out of here?"

She smiled, "Alright."

Author's Note: Sorry it's so short! (also a little weak too. Next chapter will be better!)
