Estel, I love you. Estel I dooo! When we're apart my heart beats only for you...
Phew! Got that out. *Don't judge me!*
Happy reading!
Chapter 6
"Elear!" shouted Estel. He had been looking for his brother for the past hour, but he was nowhere to be seen. Estel would even go as far to say that Elear was hiding from him.
"Lindir, have you seen Elear?" he asked the silver haired elf who stood in his path.
The elf's eyes narrowed in displeasure, which he tried to hide before it became evident. However, Estel was brought up by none other than Lord Elrond, and as such, was quick enough to notice the change.
"No, young Estel," replied Lindir, politely. "I have yet to see Elear out of the library. Perhaps you should search there?"
There was a bite to his phrase that Estel was not used to. Lindir always liked him, but like the majority of elves in Imladris, seemed to have taken an intense dislike to Elear. Estel could not for the life of him understand why. As far as he knew, Elear was just like him. He did not understand, why Lindir, Glorfindel and many other elves in Imladris, were reluctant to accept Elear the way they had accepted him.
He shook his hair out of his face. There would be time for ruminations later. As of now, he had a brother to find.
"Hannon le," he murmured to Lindir and hurried off to the library to check again. It had been the first place he looked but looking again never hurt anyone. Poking his head in through the door, he ran his eyes over the musty room, discovering only one occupant, who was looking at him irritated.
"Was there something you wanted, Estel?" came the dry voice of his tutor, Erestor. Estel hastily shook his head and disappeared before Erestor could remember the numerous shelves that needed organizing. That was one nightmare that did not bear repeating, even in thought. He suppressed a shudder and walked straight into someone. The impact caused him to land hard on his rear.
"There you are," came the voice of Elear.
Estel would have sworn out loud, (in dwarfish) if it weren't for the fact the young lords always remained dignified on the outside, a lesson that Erestor had repeatedly instilled in him, while tasking him with organizing the shelves, so that they remained in his memory as a permanent scar.
"I have been looking all over here for you!" he replied back, as evenly as one could when one had been running around for the past few hours and had fallen over in a manner not at all becoming a young lord. "Where were you?"
Elear gave him a look that conveyed his opinion on his brother's state of mind quite clearly. " I was talking to Ada," replied Elear coolly, dragging his eyes judgementally over Estel's disheveled state. "He asked me to come look for you. He said that he had something of great import to say to both you and me."
Estel looked on curiously. Usually, things of great import that called him to Ada's desk mainly consisted of pranks he might have played on the unsuspecting elves of Imladris and contained lectures of things that a young lord should not do.
Elear, the swot, had never been called to the desk with such lectures, which meant that this thing of great import, could actually be of great import. Even Elear looked solemn, but then, he always looked solemn. Estel was sure that the only people he ever smiled at was himself and Lord Elrond. And one time, Estel could have sworn he had seen Elear twitch a bare hint of a smile at Erestor. That was better than the stony face he usually wore when he was around the rest of the elves.
On the way to Lord Elrond's study, they bumped into Lord Glorfindel. Estel caught himself again, before he could fall over and look even more of a fool than he already did with Elear.
"Where are you off to?" asked Glorfindel , looking his usual dignified self. Estel noticed the way that Glorfindel seemed to be talking only to him, ignoring the presence of Elear next to him. He frowned subtly.
"We were off to Ada's study," he replied, taking care to emphasize the 'we'. "He apparently has something of great import to tell us."
Glorfindel nodded sagely, then his eyes widened. "Already?" he muttered. His eyes darted back and forth between the two of them, before he took off in quick steps. "Good luck," he said as he retreated, leaving behind two very confused humans.
"I wonder what that could be about?" Estel wondered aloud. Elear just clenched his teeth. Estel could see that the dislike between Elear and Glorfindel was mutual. Valar, this was just too complicated.
